When turning left, the steering locks slightly. Overcome with slightly more pressure. It is scary when it happens. It's done it since I drove it off the lot with 28,000 miles. When loaning truck, I let the driver know about this issue. Went to dealer 3 times, unable to reproduce. The vehicle or component has only been inspected by the dealer. No warnings given by vehicle.

Vehicle behaved erratically before repair and still does. It seemed a bit better after the repair but issues are still there. It lurches forward when coming to a stop and accelerates in a delayed manner, starting slow and then jumping forward. The 4 wheel drive issues system errors like overheated and function diminished. At times it just doesn't work. Systems turn themselves on. (axle lock) These issues existed since the vehicle was new with the dealership telling me they didn't know what could cause them.

I came to a stop at a red light. The auto stop/start was active so the engine stopped. When the light turned green, I lifted off the brake and the truck started back up as usual. Once I got into the middle of the intersection, the truck stalled out and the parking brake set and skidded to a stop. I restarted the truck and released the parking brake. I made it 10 more feet and the truck stalled a second time and again set the parking brake. I had several cars swerve to avoid my truck. I started up and made it off the road to a parking lot. I couldn't replicate the issue and drove home cautiously. 18*F outside temp and recent snow storm.

Yes, a failing EGR cooler can indirectly affect the exhaust pressure control valve by disrupting the normal exhaust gas flow, potentially causing the valve to operate outside its intended parameters due to abnormal pressure fluctuations in the exhaust manifold, leading to potential issues with engine performance and emissions control. Explanation: Pressure imbalances: When an EGR cooler fails, it can leak coolant into the exhaust system, which creates steam and disrupts the normal exhaust gas flow, leading to uneven pressure changes in the exhaust manifold. EGR valve response: The exhaust pressure control valve (often part of the EGR system) relies on a specific pressure differential to regulate the flow of exhaust gas back into the engine. If the pressure in the exhaust manifold is significantly altered due to a failing EGR cooler, the valve may not function optimally. Potential consequences: Reduced engine performance: Incorrect EGR flow due to pressure fluctuations can lead to reduced power and poor acceleration. Increased emissions: Improper EGR function can result in higher emissions levels. Check engine light: A failing EGR cooler often triggers a check engine light due to the engine's inability to maintain optimal operating parameters. Key points to remember: While an EGR cooler failure directly impacts the coolant system, its effects can cascade to affect the exhaust pressure control valve due to the altered exhaust gas dynamics. If you suspect an EGR cooler problem,

The RAM trailer brake controller has two problems, causing unsafe operation when connected to a camper or trailer with electric brakes. 1) When coming to a stop and feathering off the brake to stop smoothly, the trailer brakes are released too early, this causes the vehicle to be pushed forward, often into an intersection, pedestrian, or a vehicle opinion front of you! Care must be taken to avoid this! Alternatively, the trailer brake controller lever can be manually pressed to avoid the trailer brakes from being released early. The camper was tested by the camper dealer as OK This same camper does not have this problem if tested with other tow vehicles such as GMC, etc. 2) The RAM trailer brake controller does not output a full 12VDC to the connected trailer, even with the gain set to max (10) and full brakes are commanded either by the brake pedal, or the brake controller lever. This causes the trailer to not have full stopping powerm reducing the stopping distance, especially in an emergency stop. If the brake controller output is tested without a trailer connected, it will show 12V output. However, once a trailer is connected, the output drops to about 9.6 VDC. The camper has been tested by the camper dealer and was found to be ok. The camper was also tested with other brands of vehicles (Toyota, GMC, Chevrolet, Nissan), and no other vehicles except RAM exhibit this problem. This problem was also confirmed at a trailer dealer by using an independent trailer brake test met

The power steering says it's "unavailable" and "needs servicing" when cold starting the vehicle at tempuratures lower than 45 degrees fahrenheit. I purchased the vehicle used and owned it for one day when this error occured. My safety was put at risk because when the error went away and I drove down the road, the error returned and the steering wheel locked up when I was driving, could've caused a nasty accident if the timing was worse. The problem is reproduced when the vehicle is cold started at tempuratures of 45 degrees fahrenheit or lower. The EPS component is currently being inspected by the used car dealership. The warning message only appeared as the power steering malfunctioned, there was no prior warning to the power steering failing, making the vehicle extremely unsafe to drive as their is complete uncertaintly when the power steering will shut off.

To whom it may concern, I am making a safety complaint on a component that failed while operating the vehicle. My vehicle is a 2019 Ram 1500 Bighorn DT. The component that failed and almost cost me to crash my truck while in reverse and parking is called The Park Sense and The Rear Parking Assist . I started to have this problem back in the Summer around August 2024. I have brought the vehicle in to my dealer ( CHRYSLER, JEEP, DODGE OF PARAMUS N. J.) several times already, the first time they replaced the Park Sense Sensor Module and reset the computer. No sooner then I got home from the dealership and was reversing in my driveway the error messages came on and the truck did not sense the garage door and continued to back up thankfully I was able to brake hard and stop 6 inches from the door. Not only did the Park Sense warning come on but also The Rear Brake Assist did not stop the vehicle like it has in the past. I brought the vehicle back to the same dealership and they worked on it for about 6 hours gave it back to me and said they rerouted the wiring harness for the park sense module and it was working fine. As I get into my truck to leave the error messages came on the dashboard so I walked inside and showed the service manager and the tech that just finished working on my truck. They said to bring it back, they had no regards for my safety or the safety of others letting me leave the dealership with the truck acting up cause from time to time the brakes would suddenly

Went home and got up later to drive again and the warning message was gone, never to be seen again. Fast forward and it was extremely hot out. Noticed the truck was leaning to one side. Jumped in, started it, and the height recentered. Got out and could hear an active air leak. Drove for a while and would always raise and lower as normal. Issue seemed to go away. I have a 2019 Ram Laramie and one of the power side view mirrors no longer works as it should because the plastic gear or the motor is broken. When you google the problem it seems to be a very common problem among RAM truck owners is typically occurs because the plastic (instead of metal) gears fail. This issue is a health and safety concern for the driver of these trucks with a broken mirror, other drivers on the road, and pedestrians. When the plastic gear breaks the mirrors so not stay in place as they should so when you go to look in the mirror the view/angle might be off (i.e. the mirror won't show the view that you set it to show because the mirror moves around due to the broken gear). There should be a recall on plastic gears to replace them with a metal gears.

Power steering intermittent failure. Doesn’t appear to be related to truck use: it happens when truck is first turned on, happens while driving. The gauge screen turns red, says “Power Steering Unavailable,” and power steering is lost. Power steering dash light turns on. Power steering is lost, sometimes for a second, sometimes for longer. This happens at idle, as well as driving various speeds (20 mph-60 mph). It happens while driving straight and in turns. Thankfully it has only gone out on slow-speed turns so far. It resets when truck is turned off, but will fail a few seconds after turning on. There is a recall for this exact problem. The recall manufacture window ends one month before the manufacture date of our truck. We have contacted a service representative at a dealership and they refused to fix the problem under the recall for that specific problem because our truck’s VIN is one month beyond the recall window. Is there even the slightest possibility that a faulty rack/wiring affected by this recall was installed on the vehicle. The recall date must be expanded. A sudden loss of power steering while driving may have serious consequences, including loss of life.

However, we purchased this vehicle used with 91 miles on the odometer as it was listed as the previous owner being the manufacturer itself and was used and moved around from showroom to showroom as a floor model. We have no warranty and now must replace the entire engine due to the metal shavings found throughout the engine. Cost to replace is 10k+ which is horrifying an engine must be replaced at 50K miles due to a known product design flaw causing so many of us to experience the same exact issue around 50k miles. Fiat only replaces those under warranty with the same flawed/defective part only to have the same issue reappear...that to me means the part design is flawed. Both of our mechanics said this is a known defect that many of their customers have experienced. Our check engine light came on prior to a scheduled visit to our mechanic on July 8 as we were hearing a ticking noise. I purchased my 2019 Ram 1500 in Sept 2018. I have had continuous steering issues since the day of purchase and each time I've complained over the past years nothing has been done by the dealer to address my problem. When the truck is warmed up and you're driving over 50 mph there's a "catch" or spot that seems to have a rough spot when steering to the left. It's fine when turning right, only when turning left does it occur. It's progressively getting worse and as the truck now has over 36,000 miles, (43,00 at time or writing this) the dealers are not interested in looking into my issues. I have made at least 5 or 6 complaints over the years and each time have been told they'll look into and get back to me. I feel now it's reached the point where it's not all that safe to drive or that the system could completely fail. How do I get Ram to get serious and address this issue.
