When traveling at speed, the vehicle shudders or bucks as if the engine cuts out briefly, then resumes normally for a few seconds, then does it again. It creates a hazard on the highway as I attempt to move to the side of the road or travel slowly to avoid damaging the vehicle further. I took the vehicle to the local dealer and they diagnosed a Delaminated Tone Wheel, the same exact issue as described in Safety Recall W68 / NHTSA 20V-475. The claim that my vehicle is not included in the recall, because it was manufactured 6/07/2016, which is just outside the date window of included vehicles. There seems to be no question that the issue of Tone Wheel Delamination is broader in scope that described in W68 and I am petitioning an expansion of that recall to include all vehicles that potentially have this issue. Both the dealer and FCA refuse to cover the cost of the repairs at this time.

I was exiting the freeway, sped up from about 55mph to pass a semi before the exit narrowed and my '16 RAM 1500 Ecodiesel just stopped working. I got warning lights one after another, "engine oil low pressure", "electric system" "brake system" basically the whole christmas tree lit up. I was almost hit and probably killed by the 18 wheeler I just passed, coasted to a stop and pulled over. Engine would not start back up. Got towed to a shop. Mechanic found that the "crankshaft tone ring/wheel" had lost some of it's magnetic material and that caused the almost catastrophic shut down. Mechanic found Chrysler safety recall W58 and W68 that are for this exact issue for my exact make, model, year and engine type- so I call RAM/Chrysler and they say it's my problem because my VIN is not subject to these recalls. I asked them if the recall is for this exact issue, for the exact make, model, year, and engine then how do can they refuse to even escalate the issue or look into it. This is a known issue, I almost died and am out a couple thousand dollars. The contact is requesting to be reimbursed $1700 for the repairs.

The back up camera will not work until you start driving forward and randomly comes on while driving. A person or child could be hit by the camera not working. The radio and camera screen go on and off and acts like it is trying to reboot but does not reboot. The dealer recommends replacement at $795 which I will have to pay. My understanding there are active recalls for this on 2019 and 2020 Rams. This recall should be expanded.

My power steering failed. It stopped working while I was driving on a straight road at approximately 45MPH. The wheel was very hard to turn. The power steering did not start working again until I was able to stop the vehicle, shut it off and re-start it. I had the dealer look at it and they can not replicate it, and can not find any coded to tell what has happened. The dealer and FCA have said there is nothing they can do at this time. This is not a problem that I want to wait to happen again as it is extremely dangerous.

I own 2016 Ram 1500 Crew Cab 4x4 SLT Big Horn. I purchased the truck in June 2019 at our local Dodge Dealership in Vinita, Oklahoma with 59k on it. Truck ran fine, did have the Hemi Tick startin until December 20,2021 and the CEL came on. Personally had my husband, CAT Certified Diesel Mechanic run the codes. To witch P062A Circuit "A" Fuel Pump Range/Performance Code was given. Truck was parked and dealership, Vance Dodge Miami, OK was called. Truck taken on December 28,2021. Told the tech before hand while our daughters Nitro was getting fixed when he got my truck to go through it and make sure no other issues. Once truck was there few days later they called telling me that I had 4 broken Exhaust Manifold Bolts, needed another new battery, and CEL was on due to Fuel Pressure Switch failure. Picked truck up Jan 6, 2022. Did not even get out of city limits when CEL back on. Drove it 15 miles home. Changed the battery with brand new one. CEL back on, called dealership, requested Manager. Told to bring back in the following Monday. I have been in touch with my local dealership many times, with a response to check back later. Since the initial notice, I have received nothing on the status or remedy concerning this recall. Being that airbags are a vital safety system, it is my assessment that the manufacturer should stop dragging their feet on this recall and provide a solution.

Air suspension randomly fails to inflate, 1 or multiple bags do not inflate. Drivability is very dangerous as you have no suspension keeping the tires on the ground when going over any bumps on the road. Steering can also be affected as it can lean to one side causing steering pull to that side that is deflated. Loss of control is a factor as well while turning and accelerating, with the harshness of no suspension keeping the wheels in contact of the ground, even little input to the accelerator will put unpredictable power to the wheels usually losing grip putting the vehicle into an oversteer event.

While driving, the vehicle began to decelerate. As the gas pedal was pressed, the vehicle continued to slow down. I had to pull over and get a tow. The truck acted as if it was not getting any fuel. It only has 60,000 miles and is a 2016 Ecodiesel engine. My life was put at risk because it abruptly decreased speed in ongoing traffic. The mechanic found metal shavings in the fuel filter and says the entire fuel system needs to be replaced. The engine light appeared on the dash and the vehicle slowed simultaneously.

Was pulling in to a parking lot when the vehicle made a warning sound and then displayed "Check Engine" and "Service Shifter" messages on dash. The truck then would not shift in to any other gear but drive. it displayed that it was in park but stayed in gear and almost caused me to drive in to a pedestrian. The shift lights on the dash for the gears (P, N,R, D) all flashed randomly as if there was an electrical issue. Eventually I was able to set the brake, turn off the truck, restart it, and it finally changed gears. I took the vehicle to the dealer the next business day and they told me looking at the codes, that the shift module needs to be replaced. From what I have read online in forums this is an EXTREMELY common safety issue affecting the shifting/drivability of the vehicle. Per dealer, this is not related to the recall affecting the shifter on the vehicle. I contacted Ram care and they advised there was nothing they could do for me either. Total repair is going to be over $1,000 and I have no idea if this is even the issue or when it will happen again.

RAM has teamed with T Mobile to add cell access back to the Uconnect system. 2016 models work with 3G, which was phased out 1 JAN 2022. RAM sent me a T Mobile 4G adapter that plugs into the OBD2 port under the dash. When installed, the adapter sticks out at least 3 inches below the dash and interferes with brake and accelerator. Clearly this was a rush job and not thought thru. I have been unable to get any assistance from RAM regarding this. I've included a pic of this device installed. On Tuesday January 4th 2022 I was driving my vehicle on interstate 10 at approximately 75 mph, as I was driving my vehicle lost all power and shut off leaving me with no brakes or power steering, I coasted to the off ramp. At which time I was coming up on an intersection where I attempted to apply my brakes to prevent me from rear ending several vehicles. My brakes did not engage properly my steering very stiff and hard to turn, I barley made it around the vehicles in front of me. I then coasted as far as the vehicle would go not being able to stop, leaving me in an active intersection right on the off ramp. I have contacted the manufacturer in regards to recall W58 which is the crankshaft position sensor and tone wheel which 85% of these trucks where recalled for. I was dismissed and told they would not speak with me again. After this I believe it is to my best interest to file a safety report with you guys!

Hello, The safety problem is while driving the truck the fuel gauge needle drops to empty intermittently and a warning light flashes. Now not knowing how much fuel is in the tank is dangerous because running out of fuel especially on the highway will stall the engine followed by loss of brakes and steering. The dealer said its an electrical fuel sender resistor card inside the fuel tank that is shorting out, that alone scares me. Searching online I found out it's a common problem among 2016 Ram trucks. I will not let my family drive this truck until the electrical problem is fixed. Thanks for reading!

Fuel sensor has failed which appears to be a common problem with the 2016 Ram 1500, this is a very expensive fix for people on a fixed income for a part that has a history of failing. The dealer wants to charge in excess of $800.00 dollars for this repair installing the same part they know is going to fail in time. There are many blogs on the internet stating that the part fails at random miles. Imagine being out on the road and running out of gas in the middle of nowhere as you do not have the financial means to get this repaired. This part should be recalled and repaired as other parts are such as the air bag that might explode. This is very concerning for individuals that are paying for this repair. Thank you.

A recent service on my RAM prompted a discussion with another customer and subsequently the service manager of the dealer. The topic was exhaust manifold leaks with the RAM 5.7 liter hemi engine. The dealership was repairing 2 that day and the service manager says that’s a typical day. The issue is that after 40,000 miles, one or more of the exhaust manifold bolts fatigue and fail which causes an exhaust leak. Of course and exhaust leak in the engine room is a huge safety risk for the exhaust gases can be drawn into the passenger compartment through the intakes just behind the hood. The leak also causes an emissions violation and can cause fuel economy performance issues. This issue affects models from 2008 to present. RAM has made a design change to fix the issue but has not issued a recall. I was told that it’s highly likely I will have the issue. I cannot believe a recall has not been required. Exhaust leaks are extremely dangerous.

On August 28, 2021, I was driving towards Huntsville, TX, on Hwy 30, a rural divided highway with two lanes in each direction. The speed limit is 70. The truck was empty except for me, and a few tools. I had the cruise control set at 60 mph and was going up a slight hill when then truck suddenly and violently popped out of gear. At first, I thought someone had hit me from behind. Fortunately, there was nobody close to me and I coasted to the side of the road and stopped. After a few minutes trying to calm down and read the truck manual--I never turned the engine off-- I followed the instructions to shift back to P (Park) and then select a gear. I did this and the bell ringing and flashing lights stopped. So I shifted to drive and took off again. This time I did not use the cruise control--just slowly got back up to speed. Then BOOM! Once again, around 60mph about 4 miles down the road, the truck popped out of gear a second time violently and suddenly with no warning. Once again, I coasted to a stop and just sat there halfway freaked out. Finally, I turned the emergency blinkers on and crept into Huntsville at 30 mph. The next day, Sunday, August 29, I started the truck to see what would happen, and the Check Engine light was no longer lit up. When I bought the vehicle last year it was brought to my attention that something was loose in my front end that shouldn't be by a mechanic and it had only 75000 miles on it then . He had said it could lock up and cause a accident. My truck had been to the dealer I bought it at twice for part on the axel that was leaking some grease. I was told they are wear and tare parts, but they didn't say anything about it seeming loose . I went for inspection and I was told that I need a new front end axel assembly kit that is 3000$ and they took my inspection sticker for it saying it is unsafe to drive until fixed that it could lock up and cause a accident. This sounded just like what the guy told me at 75000 miles. I was told it was bad at the dealer I bought it from at the time of inspection and when I looked up online it said the milage it is good for 80000 to 100000 miles. There has been no warning and I did not notice a problem so I went to a mini mechanic he gave me a sticker but I am noticing the axel being bad now. I am scared to drive my vehicle and if this is the case that it goes bad every 80000 to 100000 miles shouldn't it be recalled? The mini mechanic told me dodge did not design the axel to be protected from dabre and to keep it in better condition to take it off and grease it every once in a while. Yes my truck is available for inspection upon request . Thank you would like a clear answer on this soon where I have a child that I don't want to have put in danger or those
