Intermittent loss of power steering. Difficult to turn wheel at low speeds. Steering is tight then will loosen causing it to be difficult to control vehicle while turning. Ram dealer installed new steering rack and pinion which cost me $4,100 on May 15, 2024. However, steering problem is still occurring.
While driving my vehicle seemed to downshift (best way I can describe it) and then I had a CHECK ENGINE LIGHT come on and another type of warning light came on. I was able to get it to a place that put a tester on it and I got a DIAGNOSTIC CODE P0336. REPLACE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR. I had to drive it home but it wasn't running right and is hard to start now. I have only had this truck since Dec. 2021 and this makes the 4th sensor that has messed up! I will call a dealer Monday to make a service appointment but I feel I shouldn't have to pay for this! Luckily I was able to drive it home. Can you help me? Thank you. Electric power steering rack module went bad. This is a known problem and can cause accidents.
When driving steering becomes stiff and almost uncontrollable. It happens intermittently however becoming more frequently and more stiff each time. No warning lamps or messages before, during or after it happens. When steering is stiff it makes it difficult to steer, like there is no power steering at all. It can be difficult to keep my truck in its correct lane while driving. This has been happening for several months now, I am not sure of specific date it started happening. Happens at various speeds between 35 and 65 MPH
Failure of the tone wheel on a 2015 Ram 1500 Ecodiesel. W58 recall dated 2/2021 was performed. ( a software repair for a mechanical issue) W68 recall also dated 2/2021 refers to the replacement of the tone wheel in certain Ram 1500 trucks. On 2/26/2024 My vehicle would not start following a lack Of acceleration/hesitation the night before on the freeway with my daughter driving late at night by herself! I Had to have the high pressure fuel system, fuel rails and injectors replaced due to metal shavings found. (All under a separate recall that had just come out) The dealer also said the tone wheel needed replacement and was the source of the inability to start and the hesitation in acceleration that was encountered. Ram refuses to cover the tone wheel despite the knowledge they have regarding the delaminating of the tone wheel. Supposedly the W58, a software update) was to over ride the mechanical issue of a delaminating tone wheel. How can a software update repair an obvious and known mechanical issue? Why was my vehicle given a “band-aide” and not repaired correctly? Why is the NHTSB allowing Ram to band-aide a mechanical issue that could cause serious injuries due to loss of power or acceleration in a traffic scenario. It makes absolutely no sense. Please look at this issue regarding the band-aide fix and enforce the correct decision in W68 to replace the defective mechanical part of ALL affected vehicles allowing the many many owners that have suffered financially due to t

Dodge sent us a safety recall in May 2021 for Crankshaft Positioner Sensor and Toner Wheel faulty part. We took it to our local dodge dealership, they ran a computer test and said "it's fine" and sent us on our way. The car involuntarily stalled a few times while driving it the past few years. In February 2024, we took the vehicle in (AGAIN) to have the same issue looked at and they said the part needed to be replaced and said dodge will not pay for it and charged us $2900. Dodge is refusing to take accountability for this original safety recall and we are very concerned that our family was put at risk many times while driving this vehicle. Dodge new this part was a faulty part and refused to replace it.
In June of 2023 my ABS module went out part #68228991AD was told part was on back order till September 2023, this has continued so that as of this date I'm being told that expected part availability is April 2024. Electric Power steering it is now. I will try and keep it when repaired. The Truck would not turn with out using two hands and pulling and wasn't very responsive then. yes at an independent shop and at a dealer. No warning lights ever came on independent shop computer says working fine. Everything was fine and it quit working on a trip to the store. I'm glad my kid wasn't driving. I have drove old trucks without power assisted steering and had an idea how to get it to turn. Women and old people wouldn't be strong enough to turn it and would likely crash very dangerous. Mine obviously should have been recalled with the other 2015 models because it has failed just like them. I know this issue is still under investigation according to an article in August of 2023. This is a very dangerous situation when it happens my truck has only 113k on it. steering shouldn't ever fail at that low of use. These should be banned they are not safe.
Power steering hard to turn truck when driving.Very stiff. When driving on curvy highways Going right on slightly (curves) wheel fights back going left.Like a pulsating pull. With power steering you can turn the wheel with your finger right to left, but can’t with the stiffness. Haven’t had it checked out yet.
The vehicle experiences a loss of power steeing assist, extra steering effort is required especially at lower speeds, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash. The electric power steering is problematic.
The engine seems to have failed. Yes it is available for inspection upon request. My safety was put at risk as the vehicle lost all power on the highway. Yes, the problem has been confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. Yes, the vehicle has been inspected, but due diligence needs to be done on the part of the inspectors to get at the root cause of the failure. No, that was one of the most alarming and scary parts is that there were no symptoms, warning messages, etc.

Engine failure. Driving and heard a noise then oil pressure drops to zero psi and warning came one. Oil pressure would go back up during driving but during stop/idle would go back to zero. removal of oil filter and visual inspection showed metal particles. Oil was always changed ontime.

Steering is very hard all of a sudden
I was driving home from work and my electronic power steering gave out and came back and gave out repeatedly, no warning light or signs of this. Came home to google it and saw this was being investigated and wanted to share that I also am experiencing it. This is dangerous because it becomes INCREDIBLY hard to steer.
Vehicle would not restart after being shut off, thereby leaving me stranded on the side of the road in an area without cell phone reception or through-traffic, which led to me having to walk 7 miles at night while in below-freezing temperatures to get help. The engine component that failed was the tone wheel (part of the crank position sensing system). It failed without any warning. This engine component was previously subject to a recall (W58) that did not address the primary issue, which is the component's manufacturing/design defect that renders the vehicle inoperable as soon as it occurs. This defect can create life-threatening situations for drivers and passengers inside these vehicles when the defect occurs in uninhabited areas, as well as other motorists if the defect occurs on busy roadways. Many others have reported experiencing the same problem in vehicles with relatively low mileage, which is unique to this particular engine.

The dealership and Ram are refusing to fix my fuel pump because it’s older than 2020. They are saying they’re doing it by newer to older vehicles. I’ve been tryin to get my truck fixed as the pump is making squeals and tapping. I’m afraid of the damage it’s causing my engine and don’t understand why they can’t fix it when they have the parts.

My Ram 1500 has lost power several times while cruising at 55+. The first time was related to recall W58. My crank sensor became delaminated and caused my truck to completely die. After months of waiting I finally received my truck back, however, the recall is still open due to there being no fix. Just a few months later my truck died twice on the highway. This time it was due to recall Z46. After being sent from one person to the next all I am left with is I am on a list that is about 2 years behind for replacement parts.
I was traveling with my Ram 1500 Eco diesel truck pulling my camper when the Crankshaft position sensor on the transmission failed and my truck went into limp mode. I called the local ram dealership and they said they couldn't get me in for 5 days. I was staying in my camper off of the side of the road. So needing to do something I called another local shop and they got me in the next day and put it on diagnostics. Luckily they were an honest shop and they ran the truck and found out that this truck had a recall or extended manufacturers warranty for this sensor so they called the dealership for me and verified it. So I paid 150 dollars for the diagnostics and took my truck to the dealership to have the recall work on the sensor done. a week later I picked it up. I sent the 150 dollars receipt for the diagnostic work to FCA and they refuse to pay stating they don't pay for diagnostics. The only reason I had a diagnostic done was because of the failing part which turned out to be on recall or extended manufacturers warranty. I feel they owe me for this covered repaired. Please help me recoup my loss for this covered breakdown. Thank you, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Steering gets very stiff. Sometimes can not turn the wheel. Not good if it's moving in traffic.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
