Defect. Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2017-2019 gasoline, light duty, Titan vehicles. The alternator harness may have been damaged during the engine installation process, possibly resulting in an electrical short.

Risk. An electrical short may cause an engine stall, increasing the risk of a crash. In addition, it increases the risk of a fire.

Remedy. Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the alternator harness for the proper routing and any damage. The harness will be clipped into the correct position or replaced as necessary, free of charge. The recall began August 8, 2019. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669.

Defect. Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2016-2018 Nissan Titan, 2016 and 2018 Nissan Titan XD vehicles. Accessories installed on these vehicles reduced the load carrying capacity, however, a Load Carrying Capacity modification label was not installed, possibly allowing the vehicle to be overloaded. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."

Risk. An overloaded vehicle can increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Nissan will notify owners and provide a new modification label, with installation instructions, free of charge. The recall began on June 4, 2018. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669.

Defect. Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2016-2017 Nissan Titan Crew Cab and Titan XD Crew Cab vehicles. In the event of a crash, the rear seatbelt assembly may not adequately protect the occupant's head, allowing it to contact the D-ring bolt trim cap. As such, these vehicles fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 201, "Occupant Protection in Interior Impact."

Risk. If the occupant's head contacts the D-ring bolt trim cap during a crash, there is an increased risk of injury.

Remedy. Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will install energy absorbing material to the C-Pillar Finishers and replace the Seatbelt Bolt and Bolt Cap, free of charge. The recall began September 19, 2017. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261.

The truck suddenly and without warning drops into an un-acceleratable 'limp mode' while traveling at highway speeds in active traffic, presenting an immediate rear-end collision hazard. Nissan acknowledges this is a Turbo Failure and replaced it in 2021 and 2023 and now the turbo, actuator and dpf have all failed in less than 10k miles since the 2023 repair and refuses to cover it under the 10yr/150k mile warranty extension for the turbo.

My truck currently has approximately 112,000 miles. Recently, it suffered a high-pressure CP4 fuel pump failure that sent metal debris throughout the fuel system. The failure has been diagnosed by both an authorized Nissan dealership and an independent diesel repair facility. Both concluded that the fuel system has been contaminated and requires replacement of the high-pressure pump, injectors, fuel rails, fuel lines, and related components. I was driving down the road in Atlanta traffic and on a 2 lane road when my truck all of a sudden started to lose power and stop in the middle of the road. A car behind me had to slam on brakes to avoid running into the back of my truck. There was no warning lights or anything. I was able to push the truck to a nearby gas station to get it out of traffic.

I have owned this vehicle since February 2025 and as of June 2026 the CP4 Fuel pump failed and causes the Cummings engine to shutdown and the vehicle is now immobile. According to recent research and diagnosis, the cost of repair will exceed the value of the vehicle which I am still paying on. It is my understanding that a class action lawsuit for this particular issue is in progress and Nissan is not taking ownership of the faulty part. I now have a vehicle I can’t drive and I own a farm. I used this vehicle for towing and hauling livestock and now this issue is affecting my business. Nissan needs to repair or replace my vehicle given the fact they used substandard parts.

Engine is knocking at only 83k miles. No. 7 cylinder issue. Nissan won’t cover repairs even though they’re aware of the design flaw.

I am submitting this complaint on behalf of the vehicle owner. On March 31, 2025 (136,962 miles), the vehicle was brought to Fred Anderson Nissan of [XXX] for Voluntary Emission Recall PD128 (NTB24-061), which required a new Particulate Matter Sensor and ECM reprogramming. One day later, the Check Engine Light illuminated. On April 2, 2025 (137,083 miles), the dealer diagnosed code P2002-00 (DPF Efficiency Below Specs). Repair Order #XXX states: "The new sensor that is now monitoring DPF is able to see this and is setting the code as designed." The dealer's own documentation confirms the fault code was triggered by the recall — not a pre-existing failure. The vehicle had no warning lights before the recall was performed. Nissan Consumer Affairs (Case #XXX) declined goodwill assistance citing mileage, without addressing the documented causal link between the recall and the fault code. The owner now faces a DPF replacement costing several thousand dollars as a direct result of complying with a manufacturer recall. Safety concern: A DPF in confirmed fault condition can trigger unexpected limp mode, including at highway speeds. If other PD128 recipients are experiencing the same recall-induced fault and cannot absorb the repair cost, those vehicles may be operating in a compromised condition. The contact owned a 2017 Nissan Titan. The contact stated that while driving at 40 MPH, the contact noticed smoke coming from the engine and pulled over to the right side of the road, exited the vehicle with his dog, and five minutes later, he noticed flames coming under the vehicle. No injuries were sustained. The fire department was notified and extinguished the fire. A fire department report was filed. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the local vehicle lot. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was destroyed. The contact was relating the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V495000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) however the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 143,639.

At about 120,000 miles, my transmission started searching for gears shattering going in limp mode while in drive and then ultimately dying while on the highway. Also, my leaf springs are completely loose. You can just pull them out when you have the truck up on the lift.

Premature turbocharger failure

I live in [XXX] . Went on vacation to visit our son outside of Nashville Tennessee. Vehicle had approximately 80,000 miles at the time. While driving in traffic and sitting still at lights and odor was coming in the cab. When I got home, I called the dealer about Catalytic converter failure possibly they told me that it was not covered that I should take it to a reputable exhaust repair shop. I took it to Callahan’s auto repair in Pontiac Michigan. They put it on the Hoist and came and told me it had a cracked exhaust manifold which the catalytic converter was attached to and that’s where the odor was coming from. When I purchased the vehicle, I have a lifetime drive caring warranty from infinity through the dealership. I called the dealership and talked to Service and they told me to bring it in while waiting for an appointment. I was due for an oil change and canceled it and looked on Google For problems with the 2017 V8 engine and found a nine page technical service report on the failure of that particular line of engine, I was never notified at any time that my engine was subject to failure, and it had been to the dealership within the last 30 days to have a new transmission pan put underneath the vehicle which Nissan paid 60% of on their own and I paid 40. Upon taking it to the dealership and leaving it, I have to pay $181 for them to analyze the problem they have verbally told me on the phone That my truck needs a new engine because there’s a lifetime warranty on the dr

My vehicle lost power driving down the road while pulling my horse trailer. The engine began to vibrate and knock then shut down completely. I did not make it off the road entirely so the police had to assist with lights to ensure other motorists would avoid collision with me. The engine will not turn over, it makes a single click and is locked up completely.

The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.

The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 223,215.

Additionally, the TPMS warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with engine failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 80,100.

V8 endurance engine has a known defect with scaring of cylinder 7 causing knocking in the engines and engines replacements. I purchased this Titan brand new in 2017. It required a brand new engine at 18,000 miles that was covered by the warranty. That engine developed another knock that required another engine replacement at 89,000 miles. Initially Nissan refused to cover as the truck was more than 5 years old even though the miles were well below 100,000 manufacturer warranty. I have found that these are bad engines that dealership is continue to install in these trucks even knowing that it could develop another knock. Other engine manufacturers refused to work on these engines due to this known defect. Nissan has thus far refused to recall this engine. The replacement cost is $18,000 without warranty.

I was droving down the road with the cruise control set at 70MPH, when all of the sudden the engine lost power and stopped. It did not have a check engine light or anything on the dash to indicate that there was a problem. I coasted to the edge of the road where i attempted to restart the vehicle, but it would not even turn over. I had the vehicle towed to a repair shop where I was informed that they engine was locked solid. The mechanic suspects that they crankshaft is broken, but the entire engine will need to be replaced.

Purchased a used 2017 Nissan Titan XD Pro-4X 5.0L diesel on 3/8/25. Left the dealership and only made it ~10 miles down the road before the check engine light came on and there was a loud knocking noise. Immediately turned around and went back to the dealership. After diagnosing it I was told it was a fuel injector and that they were replacing it. Received the truck back ~3/20/25. This truck is not my daily driver but the few times I have attempted to drive it the check engine light keeps coming on and I'm getting a message about the REGEN. On 5/28/25 I had the truck towed to my local Nissan dealership. They diagnosed it and although there is still a code for the same injector coming up they said the issue is the wiring harness and quoted me $7000 to repair and it's not covered under my powertrain warranty. After research it seems like this is a common issue in 2017-2019 Nissan Titan 5.0L diesel trucks which will cause the crankshaft to break if not fixed. I am super frustrated that after less than 3 months of ownership I have an undrivable truck requiring thousands of dollars in repairs.

Took my nissan titan xd into the tim dahle nissan to get my recall done and also my ac fixed since it was broken, let them know that i had a light turn on and then turn back off, they said that they would look at it. when messaging with the service advisor he had told me that the part that was issued for the recall could not be done because there was something already wrong with my truck. i had not had any problems previously when i took it in just weeks prior and it was never brought up when they looked at it before. they then told me i shouldn’t drive it very far because it is not safe, i just wanted to take it in for the recall part but they refused to do it for me even though it would help. i was very unhappy with how i was treated and how they denied me a part that should be put in regardless. but they had just told me it would be pointless to put it in.

Truck was fine and then went to pull out in traffic and it would not shift past 3rd gear, was dangerous because traffic was moving quickly and no lights appeared on the dash but the transmission just stopped shifting past 3rd. Had to limp it back off the road which was scary because people were traveling at higher speeds than we were able to even though just 2 minutes prior we had come from that same road and we were traveling just fine. Was told by dealer that the valve body went out and is costing $3400 to replace, no metal shavings found inside the transmission but this incident almost caused a wreck and is costing a serious fortune. Seems to be a serious and common issue from the research I’ve done, unfortunately it’s something that’s just becoming known because I would have never bought it expecting danger and expenses like these.

Highway driving and lost power, started hearing engine rattle. 5.0L Cummins Diesel engine crankshaft is broken. Dealer verified it to be crankshaft. Insurance company denied a claim stating the crankshaft was manufacturer defect. Turns out that defective crankshaft was a known issue with the 2016 and 2017 Titan 5.0L engines that Cummins changed it for subsequent years. This should be a recall. I see daily the same issue on forums and groups in the USA. Thousands of us have a dead truck we are paying for in our yards.

Driving down the road, motor locked up due to crankshaft. Unable to control or restart vehicle.

Received a recall for my vehicle. Recall was pd128. Took vehicle to dealer to have recall serviced on vehicle which was for a pm sensor and reprogram the emissions control module. After recall, DEF system error code and reduce speed to 5mph showed up on truck. Went back to dealer to explain issue after the recall. They ran codes and thought it could be the DPF filter or EGR without thinking the recall could be to blame. Went to another mechanic and did a DEF system check and found no issue with system but a miscommunication with the NOx sensor. Had NOx sensor replaced and a week later had same DEF system error come on but was more intermittent and would clear on its own. Checked codes and found said miscommunication with the same NOx sensor that was replaced. Went back to the original dealer to explain the issue and believe it was due to the recall reprogram. They did a diagnostic and spoke with their own techs and said their campaign recall repair revealed a concern that was present before but did not have detection sensor or the logic to determine the issue and recommends DOC/DOF to to replaced. Contacted Nissan about the issue and if replacement would be covered due to it being tied to the recall and was told no that it is just a coincidence even though their campaign revealed there was an issue with the recall.

Car went into limp mode on the highway and would not exceed 40 mph where the speeds were around 70 putting me at risk with a code of P0720 which usually points to a valve body or transmission.

Original Problem: 2017 Nissan Tital Truck - Miles: 82706 Issue 1) Purchased the vehicle and owner of the Nissan dealership stated it had a "bumper-to-bumper" 100,000 miles warranty on this model truck. He never mentioned the warranty expired after 5 years in December 2022. Issue 2) Power Steering pump started making a "growling" noise Went to the local Nissan dealership and they determined a seal in the pump needed to be replaced. Found out that the seal has been back ordered from Nissan Japan due to the "high demand and part failure". Local dealership wanted to replace the entire rack & pinion system at a cost of several thousands of dollars. Contacted the Nissan Corporation to help with the warranty issue and replace only the defective seal. Local dealership will not call me now that I took the issues to Nissan Corporation. Nissan is stating that there are 67 seals on back order due to the high volume of requests and I'm now with a truck I haven't been able to drive for 3 weeks. Please look into this seal failure for a recall because I cannot afford to replace the entire rack & pinion system with 9 hours of labor cost at $200 per hour plus the cost of the entire rack & pinion assembly when I only need the seal replaced!! please help

Recently took the truck to get serviced a month ago. Two weeks ago I was coming back home and the motor let out and had a loud banging noise which I assumed to be a bearing or crank shaft failure. Upon getting it to a dealership they inspected it and pulled the oil pan to find metal shavings all in the turbos and oil.

The dealership said, my crankshaft broke in many places

Truck has been diagnosed and the airbag sensor seems to be at fault. The sensor light is blinking and if there’s an accident the airbags will not deploy. This is a huge liability and safety concern

2017 57,000 miles, Very well maintained truck with turbo actuator issues (replaced 3 times). I was driving down the highway taking my kid to practice, when the truck started to act up. I took the cruise control off and started slowing down to get to a safe place off of the highway, when the truck shut off and came to a complete stop. Oil changed every 5000 mi by myself a retired military mechanic. Perfectly maintained vehicle, 68,000 mikes on the Nissan Titan XD Diesel- stock - drove it to work, then swapped with my son so he could barrow the truck as his was getting serviced- he owns a Lawncare company, he calls stating the truck lost power, started vibrating, and started banging while towing his equipment. No lights. We use a Banks Data monster- checked for codes, nothing, all temps normal - I monitor egr, engine, exhaust, and several others - all normal. Parked it - appears to be a broken crank. Just changed the oil the day prior. Been changing oil for 30+ years - always triple check levels - all correct. Use Shells best T6 fully synthetic, fleet guard filter and change every 6-7k.

Engine/Crankshaft/Main Bearing excessive noise, metal shavings in oil. Crank shaft cracked or broken. Similar to NHTSA PE23-020.

Additionally, the contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) system and the EGR cooler were leaking. The dealer determined that the DEF tank and the EGR cooler needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer for over 6 months. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and offered to partially cover the cost of the repair. The failure mileage was approximately 109,000.

Engine locked up driving down the road. Broke crank driving 65 miles a hour.

My turbo actuator went out in 2022, paid $2,000 to get it fixed. A year later in 2023 it went out again and ruined both the low and high turbos, had to get them replaced again this time under warranty but Nissan of Dearborn in Dearborn, Michigan had my truck for 87 days before I got it back. They tried to tell me I needed a whole new engine block. I’m scared because if this happens again who is going to be held liable for it, me? Not to mention the damage it’s most likely caused on the engine block and crankshaft. The last thing I want is for that to break as I’m going down the highway.

I have owned this vehicle since day one... this was meticulously maintained and serviced regularly. While sitting at an idle, with no prior warning, the vehicle just stopped running. After having diagnosed by a reputable diesel mechanic near me, it was determined that the CP4 fuel pump, known to be faulty in these and other trucks as well had failed. After extensive examination, it resulting in a catastrophic failure of the fuel system, ultimately requiring a $14, 000+ repair. (Unrealistic cost due to the current value of the truck being around $10k - $14k. Metal chards had been distributed all throughout the entire fuel system. This failure is unfortunately very common and Nissan or Cummins should be held accountable for this issue.

Pulled up to a stop light my truck turned off had got towed back and turner the truck on and the engine had rod nock and is over heating and not running smooth

2nd time this has happened.. the secondary fuel pump falls apart putting metal shavings into the engine.. therefor needing to have MAJOR REPLACEMENT OF PARTS.. unluckily I have 2 of these nissan titan xds.. and it has happened to both

The vehicle is available for inspection immediately by all parties. While driving down the highway, the truck started a vibration, without any warning indicators. The vehicle was taken to the next travel center truck shop. The writer acknowledged the vibration like a misfire, but no codes were present. He recommended another shop or dealer. A detour was made to the nearest Nissan dealership. On the way, the truck stumbled with a violent vibration and shut down on the road without warning lights. There was a complete loss of power from the engine on the highway, giving way to the risk of being hit by other motorists and blocking traffic. Since the engine shut down, there was also a loss of power steering, giving high risk to the possibility of an accident. The truck was unable to restart. The vehicle shut down in the middle of the desert, exposing my family to unsafe environmental conditions. The truck was towed the remaining way to the dealer. The next business day, the technician got the truck started and verified the concern. The tech requested additional time for teardown which was approved to remove the oil pan for inspection. I was quoted over $37,000 to repair “catastrophic engine failure.” There were metal shavings found in the oil pan “the size of a computer mouse” from somewhere on the crankshaft. The dealer found that the check engine light came on during service but did not provide the codes. Nissan refuses to assist with repair due to warranty time and secondhand

The truck has a broken crankshaft with only 80 thousand miles on it an when it happen was driving an lost all power to everything including the power steering witch pulled me off the road without control an insurance will not cover because the same thing has happen too many other titans I added the only email the would send to us below they are trying to hide the fact they sold defective crankshafts in trucks an it coast as much to fix it as it does to buy a whole truck

My vehicle shut off mid u-turn and could have caused an accident. brought it to a nissan dealer and found that the timing chain had dropped and it needed an engine. the rest of the engine was not inspected for further damages since no matter what the engine was needed to be replaced. vehicle was very maintained and had no warning signs of engine failure.

2017 nissan titan with 5.6ltr endurance motor started knocking at or around 71k miles as with the service bulletin was taken to dealership where it was inspected and found cylinder 7 with scaring as per bulletin with replacement required to fix the cylinder issues is well known down to the years and Vin series affected with out of pocket expense of 11,500.00 for replacement. Had I been traveling I could of gotten stranded with family somewhere who knows where waiting for repairs this is such a well known issue wheres the recal
