As I was driving on the highway, my vehicle stopped driving forward and operating as if it was in neutral. My vehicle started rolling backwards on the road so I turned into the shoulder. I turned my car on and off to see if it would correct and it did not. Now, the Nissan dealership is replacing the entire transmission.

Purchased with 89k miles, now has 130k miles. A few times at random the check engine light came on and then went off immediately, seemingly went off when I would tighten up my gas cap, so i thought this was the cause. Hit 130k miles and light comes on during my drive home from work, and this time is accompanied by my loss of acceleration. On Highway I couldn’t go over about 55mph without losing ability to accelerate, I pull off Highway, get to first stop light, and then I can’t get the car to accelerate from a stop at all without an extreme delay. I pull into the nearest repair shop and they run the codes on ECU and tell me it’s not reading any active codes, but history codes are showing transmission issues and that CVT transmissions are known for this and recommends I call Nissan Consumer Affairs. Literally zero noticeable issues prior to this incident! I call them & they don’t have my name attached to the VIN? They create a case and tell me there was a class action lawsuit settlement (I never got any notification whatsoever!!!) but that I’m outside of the extended warranty provided as a result of the settlement. I still owe $8k on this piece of shit and Nissan won’t do anything—It should be recalled!!! 2nd Nissan I’ve owned, the first one I bought with 14k miles on it & had to replace the transmission at 35k, warranty expired. I will never buy another Nissan ever again. Ever. They clearly knowingly put defective and unsafe transmissions in these cars, screw over their custo
My 2015 Rogue has a heating issue. The heat is only warm on passenger side. This also means the defrost doesn't work which can cause issues of seeing the road in rainy or snowy conditions.

On February 27, 2022, my car, 2015 Nissan Rogue, caught fire. My son had been driving it for work when he smelled faint smoke. Within minutes, he reached his place of employ, Papa Johns and parked with the smoke increasing. He went inside for a minute and came back out. At that point the car was on fire on the right side of car by the headlamp. The fire started within 5 minutes of the smoke. People brought out fire extinguishers and were able to extinguish the fire which had gotten very intense. 2-3 extinguishers were needed to put out the fire. The fire department showed up and assessed the car and said it was a electrical fire. There were no personal injuries and no other property damage (beside the car). Two possibly related incidents: 1) February 24, 2022 - the right front tire had to be replaced due to a heat ring on the the right front tire (the tires were only a year old), 2) February 24, 2022 at night - the right front headlamp burned out and was replaced on 2/27/22. The GEICO Claims adjuster believes that whatever caused the heat ring and the burned out bulb also caused the fire as everything happened in the same area. The Nissan Rogue had undergone a 100,000 mile maintenance inspection on January 31, 2022 with no electrical issues cited (but all other issues noted during the maintenance repaired by me to a cost of $1286.40). Caranddriver.com reports that a recall notice is to be issued by Nissan the first week of March 2022 on electrical issues leading to fire on th

My wife told me her brake pedal is going to the floor. I test drove it and sure enough brakes go soft and spongy sometimes you can pump the pedal and they will work for a little while. Car has 53883 miles on it and is available for inspection. Will contact dealer in a few days see what they say. No warning lights on. Having worked on cars my whole life makes me think master cylinder is failing but with all the electronic controls don't know. Now parked in garage afraid to drive it.
The windshield wiper recoil off has s leak and it drips into the blower for the heater and freezes. When this happens, the heater does not work at all. This causes visibility issues as the defrost/heater will stop working while you’re driving.
October 2021 while driving at a 55 mph my stirring wheel felt hard to maneuver and a chasis control light/check engine light came on. I felt a resistance to steer and speed was reducing. I manage to pull over right away and turn off car it would not turn off until I continuously press my start button. After my car got towed it would not jump star no power at all A mechanics saw and diagnostic as an electrical issue possibly harness with a code U0100. I decided to take to Nissan dealer they diagnosed an IPM issue replaced for $1300. Took car drove fine for two months two months later while driving my chasis control light came up again my steering to the right was too hard so I pull to the left manage to park. Car turn off at first press on start button but it wouldn’t jump start again. Replace the ipm Nissan said harness that holds has to be replace want to do it for $5k and not sure if it will fix issue. My car had no signs of issues ever before very scare to fix and drive now since it just suddenly doesn’t let me control steering and dies right away with no warnings. Very dangerous for all road drivers. No current recall resolution till next month however I need a vehicle very inconvenient and dangerous for me.
My teenager daughter was attempting to merge onto US 15-501 traffic and the vehicle wouldn't accelerate, it kept hesitating. Oncoming traffic almost rear ended her. She got off on an exit and stopped at the red light. When it turned green she had the same issue and it wouldn't accelerate and continued to hesitate. She got it home. The vehicle was towed to the Nissan dealership and I was told the CVT transmission needs replaced. There were no previous noises or warning lights. The issue came on all of a sudden which almost caused a crash on the highway.
Car was feeling sluggish while driving about 20 to 40 mph then all the sudden there was no acceleration even though stepping on the gas.
My car vibrates while idling when either air conditioner or heat is on (but only when the car is idling; waiting for light to change and not when moving. When my car was under warranty I reported this to my Nissan service repair mechanic when car was under warranty and was told that was normal. I purchased a car in 2016 and now in 2022 it is still happening. Just need to make sure I’m safe and that car won’t blow up or something. Thank you .

Had brakes checked because of grinding noise..break pads or still new.He said rotors have pits all over them and that's where noise is coming from. Doesn't exactly know reason for it. I never experienced this with any other vehicles I've had before.
The contact owns a 2015 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal sound, and the vehicle inadvertently decelerated and then stalled. The failure nearly caused a collision. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and diagnosed with rear differential failure. The rear differential needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and remained with the independent mechanic. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that there was no recall associated with the VIN. The manufacturer referred the contact to file a complaint with NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 93,000.
Issue occurs when driving around a 30 minute plus commute. When driving at an incline the vehicle fails to accelerate and reduces speeds rapidly changing from 65 mph to 40 mph. Rather scary to have cars flying by with lost of acceleration. There has been 3 incidents of this occurring. No accident occurred was able to pull over each time due to driving in the slow lane.
Own a 2015 Nissan rogue with 85k miles on it. Check engine light came on. Took to dealership. They performed diagnostics and gave the code P1740 and P0725. They told me the CVT transmission issue and needed to be replaced. Didn't have issues with the car up to this point and did all my service in Nissan dealer at the right time. Researched and saw that Nissan had issues with their CVT transmissions including the Rogue model and year I had. If there is an issue with the transmission, why are they allowed to still sell it? A bad transmission can cause an accident when driving or in reverse. It's 5504 dollars to repair/replace and no guarantee that the transmission they put in will work properly either. Called Nissan and they say they can't help because it is out of warranty. This issue has been going on for 2 decades already. I would like to be reimbursed for it. I know that's not your agency's job but you should be much more diligent on these issues. Consumer lives are at risk not to mention the huge cost of repairing/replacing a transmission. Nissan is getting a free pass on selling defective vehicles to the public. There is a class action law suit for the same which Nissan is settling only for few car owners who falls in the same category as mine. After taking my car in for the latest maintenance at the dealership, not even a week later my heater/ac stopped working properly. When the air conditioner is on, it blows out hot air... when the heater is on, it blows out cold air! This is very frustrating and only occurs on the drivers side vents for some reason. The remaining vents blow out the correct temperatures. I took the vehicle to a local shop and paid $100 just to have the car diagnosed and they let me know that the heater core needs to be replaced and that it would cost me about $3,000 to repair. I called the dealership to get a second opinion and was informed it would cost me $175 just to look into the issue! I let them know what the local shop said and was told that this was an unlikely issue (which is not what the majority of the internet is saying). The dealer informed me if this was the case it would be upward of $4,000 to replace and that the labor alone is $1,000! This is a frustrating situation because as the weather gets colder, it gets very difficult to defrost my windshield as the heater does not work as needed. Considering many people have complained about this same issue, Nissan should have recalled this a long time ago.
The transmission started to fail at 70,000 miles. I am now getting a full replacement at 90,000. I have owned the car the entire time and have been adamant about changing transmission fluid and oil. At 75,000 miles my transmission started to slip at 75 MPH, slowing me down to 30 MPH on a highway. A snowplow almost rear ended me and there was no where I could go as it was a blizzard. Since and before, it has jerked pretty hard, shutting in traffic and while driving highway speeds. It is ridiculous and dangerous to have this as issue in a relatively new car. It should be illegal to sell defective cars and Nissan needs to be held accountable.
About 3 months ago. Clock spring had to be replaced. Have receipts. After having this done I asked some mechanics every one said extremely rare. Please inform!
The contact owns a 2015 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while at a complete stop, the vehicle would shudder. The contact also stated that the vehicle would hesitate upon acceleration after a complete stop. The contact also stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact called the dealer and was informed that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and confirmed the information provided by the dealer. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 27,000.
I was driving on the highway with my one year old child and with no warning lights my transmission stopped working the rpms were going out of control and I couldn't drive the car. We were lucky to get out of that situation safely. I contacted Nissan about the transmission codes recall and asked if it would be covered they said yes. I went in with the vehicle and they told.me the transmission would need to be replaced. The car is in perfect condition and shouldn't have these issues. Specially with NO warning. Nissan has tip toed around this issue with me. I did my research and posted to social media to find out SO many more have had this exact issue in older and newer models and Nissan has refused to take responsibility for there faulty CVT transmission. They are still putting them in vehicles leaving it to the consumer to fix. These transmissions need to be recalled before more families are effected by this. I have been back and forth with corporate Nissan for a week now and they are telling me in order to SEE if I qualify for financial assistance Nissan will need to diagnose and fix the car and It is not guaranteed they will help with costs. Instead of fixing the problem they are making me jump through hoops. They KNOW about this issue as the complaints on the BBB are constant and consistent with my situation. Please take my incident into consideration and stop Nissan from producing death trap family vehicles.
CVT Transmission failure. Loss of vehicle propulsion and burning smell on highway. Warning light came on after symptoms of failure. Owner has only driven 24k miles since purchase and goes for routine vehicle service at Nissan regularly. Further research show identical safety related issues for models with CVT from 2012-2016. There are no recalls despite pending lawsuits for this issue.
The airbag light turns on despite not having a passenger seated or anything on the seat. I’ve never gotten into a crash either and when I took my car to Jiffy Lube to run a diagnostic the code B0020 past came up. From what I read online this is a common sensor issue. Nissan should do a recall and fix this.
The hydraulics (?) in my manual lift gate suddenly failed. The hatchback slammed shut, and I barely ducked away in time. I was shaking.I thank God that my grandchildren weren’t the one retrieving an item. They could have been killed or paralyzed. I saw that Nissan recalled the Rogue for tailgate problems, but was told my vehicle wasn’t covered. (Nissan Case #44796538). This defect means no one can use my cargo space without risking life and limb. This happened approximately the first week in September. No warnings. Anyone is welcome to inspect my car. In my decades of car ownership, I have never had this happen on any vehicle. Scary.
Check engine light came on. Took to dealership. They performed diagnostics. Told me the transmission was failing and needed to be replaced. Also said that the catalytic converter was failing too and needed to be replaced also. Didn't have issues with the car up to this point. Researched and saw that Nissan had issues with their CVT transmissions including the Rogue model and year I had. This was the second time a transmission failed on a Nissan Rogue that I owned. If there is an issue with the transmission why are they allowed to still sell it? A bad transmission can cause an accident when driving or in reverse. Needless to say I was pretty much forced to sell this on a trade in for a new vehicle. It's thousands of dollars to repair/replace and no guarantee that the transmission they put in will work properly either. Your agency really dropped the ball on this.
Able to shift out of the "Park" position without depressing the brake pedal. Moved while parked and kids were in the car unbuckled. Could have injured the kids as well as anyone who was around the car at the time. Brought the car to the dealer, appeared to be a recall with other 2015 Nissan Rogues but not this one.
Drainage issue with the skylight window. Caused major water damage and potential mold/mildew issue. The car has been brought to the dealer for repair and inspection.
I own a 2015 Nissan Rogue with 70,000 miles.Pulling into driveway at 2mph, car suddenly accelerated by itself , leaving me with no control over the car and unable to make it stop before hitting a truck in the rear and pushing the truck sideways. The truck had been parked in driveway. Brakes did not stop the acceleration. Skid marks noted for a couple of feet. Had my 3 year old grandson in the back seat in his car seat. Person's truck I hit, saw the whole event happen. Engine rev'd up and jerked forward. No one was hurt but I was hysterical having my grandson in the car with me. Car had to be towed and still needing to be taken to repair shop. Awaiting to hear from insurance agent on which autobody shop it should be taken to. Truck that I hit had a lot of rear damage.
Oct 9, 2021 had issues including loss of power, transmission jerking, transmission slipping while driving. Just returned from dealer for service on my 2015 Nissan Rogue with 55k miles saying it needs a new CVT and it's not covered under warranty. First occurred on Oct 9, the dealer applied the reprogram on Oct 12, but issue came back that night. Took it back today and the new code is the P0744 shudder saying replace CVT. CVT issue causes hazardous driving conditions as the vehicle jerks, loses power, then quickly accelerates, then lunges, etc.
Airbag warning light came on Nissan check the problem and stated the vehicle needs a left front seat back also stated airbags will not work until the part is replaced.( Airbag is defective)
Nissan issued a Recall Campaign Bulletin on this issue on September 23, 2020 (attached). This issue is caused by a failed electric controlled coupling that transmits driving force to the rear final drive. Under certain circumstances primary failure of this device can lead to secondary failures that can create dynamic instability and loss of traction. The Recall Campaign Bulletin only applies to a relatively small subset of vehicles that are vulnerable to this problem. Please see the repair estimate attached.
Passenger seat is intermittently not registering that someone is sitting in the seat. Airbag light flashes however dealership has no idea why. Invoice says "spiral cable had a open in the windings causing code to set" On going issues with airbag sensors.
All out of no wear car was seating and caught on fire on the inside of car. They said it was a electrical fire started in the dome light.
While driving on I-95, my Nissan Rogue Select 2015 was cruising at the speed limit of 70 mph when, all of a sudden, the speed had begun to drop to 65-50 mph. I pressed the gas pedal to accelerate, but the car wouldn't go past 65mph. Over a period of time, I began to hear a strange high pitch whining sound. Later, the speed had dropped as low as 40 mph, I switched lanes, and stopped on the shoulder of the highway. As I parked my car, I smelled the odor of the transmission fluid. As I parked, I began to read up about the transmission issue on the owner's manual as well as online. I later found out that the transmission, CVT transmission, had entered a mode called, "limp-mode" wherein the car limits the speed to a safe driving speed (this case it was 65mph) in order to prevent a transmission overheat. Not to mention, I noticed that my Rogue dashboard shows an air bag light flashing, something that happened recently. My family and I almost got into an accident with the transmission on limp mode. A recent bulletin from Nissan stated the issue with the CVT transmission. We had gone to Valvoline and they said that the transmission needed a tune-up. No lamps or indicators showed that the transmission was in limp-mode. The only lamp that was flashing was for the air bag ( there was a recall about that.)
The contact owns a 2015 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH, the vehicle hesitated while depressing the accelerator pedal without warning. The contact had initially taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The contact continued to experience intermittent hesitation while driving at various speeds without warning. She then took the vehicle to another mechanic who informed her of a TSB on the vehicle for the transmission. The contact declined to have any repairs performed on the vehicle at that time. The contact stated that while driving at highway speeds, the check engine warning light illuminated on the instrument panel as the vehicle hesitated. The contact took the vehicle back to the mechanic who informed her that the transmission needed to be replaced. The dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
