Received recall for dim headlights. 2016. Took to dealer for repair as it said. They did not have parts said to check back later. Called several times same story. Have since been in for service and get same story. Regular headlights so dim have to drive with bright lights on in dark. A safety hazard for sure in country.

Please see this other report I filled out: 11526603. Thus far have paid about $1100 to get new, steering fluid, repair brakes, get a new battery, transmission fluid, and fuel injection service. They said this would fix the problem. The problem was not fixed. I took the car back again and they kept it several hours. Their higher level mechanic still couldn’t figure out a problem. Now, the car has a new weird noise. When I drove it this morning, it sounded like there was a motorcycle driving nearby, yet I couldn’t see one. Then I figured out, it was my own engine, making some extra noise. I’m going to try to get into a different mechanic tomorrow. God help me. So now two problems: steering and engine. I hope the car will make it to the mechanic.
A- arm on rear suspension rusted out.
My 2015 Nissan Altima started having some steering issues over the 2022-2023 winter. It seemed a bit stiff, but I thought it was from the snow tires I had just had placed. When it continued after change over in the spring to regular tires, I took it in and they said I had low power steering fluid. They replaced it for around $100 and it was working fine. they said there was no leak in the steering fluid, however. Since they replaced the steering fluid, (over the last month), the steering intermittently will completely go out for a few seconds the car will start pulling to the side, and I will have to crank on the wheel, and then it self resolves. I took it into Boucher Nissan in Waukesha, Wisconsin. They went over it for about an hour and they said they couldn’t find any problems. This is happened two times again over the last couple of weeks. It is also starting to sound like the engine is almost going to give out at times. I don’t know what to do because if it’s intermittent, how are they going to fix it? I could take it to another mechanic, but he may not find it either. I’m a bit scared to drive and driving slowly.

My 2015 Nissan Altima head lights are too dim. It is hard to see 50 feet in front of me unless i use my high beams. I bought this vehicle brand new in May 2015, the issue started in 2017.
The contact owns a 2015 Nissan Altima. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH, the front headlight bulbs became inoperable. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer replaced the headlight bulbs; however, the failure reoccurred several times. The manufacturer was contact but provide no assistance. The failure mileage was 118,000.
The contact owns a 2015 Nissan Altima. The contact stated the door panels, and the sunroof was leaking water and the floor panel would be drenched with water. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the sunroof drain to be drained. The vehicle was repaired but continued to experience the failure. The contact had the vehicle repaired a third time. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
Exhaust manifold leak
The carseat tilts over when the vehicle makes a turn.
The contact owns a 2015 Nissan Altima. The contact stated while driving approximately 60-65 MPH, the sun visor independently lowered, obstructing the contact’s view. The contact attempted to place the sun visor back in the upright position but was unable to. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who confirmed that the failure was a normal occurrence. The sun visor had not been replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.
The contact owns a 2015 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the illumination from the headlights were extremely dim, creating a visibility hazard for the driver. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure, and the contact was informed that the headlight assemblies was faulty and need to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The failure mileage was unknown. UPDATE 06/01/2023- copy of reimbursement claim ,notice of class action settlement, and quality action notice sent.
My car only has 36,400 miles. I went for an oil change at a third party garage and was told my front control arms are cracked and need to be replaced. I went to the dealer who confirmed this and also said there was a recall on the rear control arms. I have talked to numerous mechanics who said that the control arm should not be failing at 36,400 miles. I contacted Nissan asking them to help me with the cost of the front control arms since they are failing at such low mileage. They are not willing to do anything. I feel like the front should be replaced by the dealer.
Very dim headlights which create issues in less than ideal nighttime conditions.
The right rear lower control arm broke away from where the bushing is. It was the innermost bushing towards the center of the vehicle. It appears the metal is rather thin and rusted away. While driving, loss of control happened. With a bit of occasional snow on the road it was really bad as the car went from tar to a later of snow. The tire sat a bit sideways
When driving the car the hood flew up damaging the hood, windshield, and corner of the top fenders
Left headlight not working
The contact owns a 2015 Nissan Altima. The contact stated while driving 45 MPH, the vehicle jerked abnormally and failed to properly accelerate. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. After several minutes, the vehicle started to operate as designed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not diagnosed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but the contact was unsure what needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 120,000.
In 3 different occasions in this same particular order my car would start to slowly loose acceleration of only letting me drive to 10mph before lights on dash would come on such as ps,abs, traction control ect. Then my radio would shut off followed by my whole dashboard before completely the whole vehicle would completely shutdown on me and I could not start up again. I replaced the battery and put in a new alternator, but continued doing the exact same issue. I took it to a mechanic and he determined that for whatever reason the new alternator was not sending out the power and replaced it again and have to reprogram the entire computer because it was sending all kinds of codes that had nothing to do with my vehicles issue. He also noticed the continues whining sort of whistling noise coming from the powersterring as I have read in the past that people have that same problem on this particular model. As of this moment its been about 1 month and has not yet stalled on me for now, but it is very dangerous when this happens in the middle of the street or highway when your running at a certain speed and cannot control your steering since its powersterring.
I have a 2015 Nissan Altima with the headlight delamination recall warranty. The dealership found that my vehicle was affected by faulty headlights. Diagnosed in May of 2022 and was told new headlights would be ordered. It is now March of 2023 and I still cannot drive my vehicle at night due to poor illumination on roadway. This concerns me as a sfety issue that they refuse to expedite, also that they admit was their issue to repair. It should not take 10months to get headlight parts into their dealership. As I mentioned the vehicle is not driveable at night safely. I ask that you look into this issue with the dealership and their lack of support to assist me as an owner. I was always told that the headlights have not come in yet and that I just have to wait. I pray they still honor the warranty work as the warranty period has expired in just waiting for the headlights to arrive. They did diagnose issue and order headlights within the warranty period. Driving on Highway when all of a sudden i started fishtailing in both lanes, I was able to regain control after about 5seconds by slowing down , I was still having control issues until i got to a speed of 20-30 mph. Luckily i was only few hundred feet from my exit and got off and stopped at gas station. Looked underneath and noticed the lower control arm came off or broke off.
I bought 2015 Nissan Altima from Cars Express on 2/17/2023. He breached verabal agreement and will not fix the safety issues. I paid him for the paint job on front bumper and paid for the paint. Witnesses that he would pay then refused pay the paint men so I paid them once vehicle was in my possession front blinkers do not work headlight out. Safety sensor is cut. Air bag light came on and says air bags not on check engine light came on.. I tried to talk to him about safety concerns and I asked to return the vehicle for full payment including the paint and paint job I already paid him. The car was a salvage rebuilt and the hood of the car needed to be aligned that wasn’t done, safety concern is hood might open while I’m driving. He defrauded/scammed me. I’m stuck with an vehicle that is not safe, he does his own repairs which he told me he takes them a mechanic. He buys wrecks and chop shop fixes them. The car was inspected on 1/14/2023 by [XXX]. My car is part of the headlight settlement from a lawsuit against Nissan. I followed the settlement guidelines and took my car to the dealer for assessment. The dealer agreed that my headlights were defective and ordered the replacement set. The low beam headlights on my car are useless at night...often I have to drive with the high beams on to see anything. They are a safety hazard and I cannot believe there are not more accidents because of them. The headlights ordered for my car have not come in at this time. It has been 10 months since they were ordered. The parts department states that Nissan has been very slow to provide the numerous sets of headlights ordered by their dealership. I could replace the headlights on my own because you can buy new oem Nissan headlights online for 600 a pair. If I can buy them new online what is Nissan's hold up sending them out? In the meantime, I am reluctant to drive my car at night for safety concerns. Nissan admitted no wrong doing in the lawsuit and appear to be in no hurry to make it right.
On 7/22/2022, our 2015 Nissan Altima began to shake heavily while being driven at approximately 30 mph. Please note that our 16 year old newly licensed son was driving the vehicle when this occurred. The traction control light came on and the vehicle was unable to be driven safely. Thankfully, he was able to get to the side of the road and we were able to have the car towed to our mechanic. It was determined that the driver side left rear lower control arm had completely broken off due to corrosion. Pictures attached. The left rear control arm was replaced by our mechanic. On 2/3/2023, our 2015 Nissan Altima was being driven at approximately 30mph by our 16 year old son when he reported a knocking sound and the car began to shake. He reported the traction control light came on and he had to maneuver the car to the side of the road. Photos attached. The car needed to be towed to our mechanic as it was unsafe and unable to be driven. It was determined that that the passenger side right rear lower control arm had completely broken off due to corrosion. The car is currently waiting to be repaired.
The contact owns a 2015 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled. The contact was able to coast to the side of the road and discovered that the transmission had completely failed. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed back to the residence. The vehicle was towed to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the transmission failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.
I am the original owner of this 2015 Nissan Altima and I am having difficulty seeing when driving at night. The headlights are very dim. I recently (12/9/22) took my car in for service for a separate recall dealing with the hood latch. I mentioned the issue with the dim lights to them at that time and they inspected my headlights. They inspected my lights and agreed that they were dim and they informed me that the headlight assemblies needed to be replaced. They even provided me a copy of a Nissan Service Campaign (Ref PC861) dealing with halogen headlights dimming due to quality defect on the vehicle causing the delamination of the headlight assembly. However, they told me that it would not be a covered repair because the campaign had expired about 10 weeks prior to my visit. They recommended I call Nissan USA and see if they could help me. I did that and they basically told me No. I spoke to several people in the organization. I feel like this is a safety issue when driving the vehicle at night and since it is a known defect and I am the original owner I believe it should be covered. The cost of the repair is $1,300. I will attach my service department paperwork from 12/9/22 where it states the lights are bad, a copy of the Nissan Service Campaign that the dealership gave me, and a copy of a Class Action Settlement concerning this same issue for your review. I have spoken to Nissan USA several times without success so I am hoping you can help me resolve this problem. I even
I changed out my sway bar links cause I keep hearing a klunk sound ( metal on metal) and noticed how rusted and brittle the rear control arms. I'm afraid to drive the car.
The contact owns a 2015 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while driving at various speed, the front driver’s and passenger’s side low-beam headlights were extremely dim. The headlights failed to operate as designed. Due to the failure, the contact used the high-beam headlights while driving. Additionally, the contact stated that he had replaced the front driver’s and passenger’s side light bulbs however, the failure recurred. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacture was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that he had not filed a warranty extension. The failure mileage was approximately 61,000.
The contact owns a 2015 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that the headlights were very dim while activated; there was no warning light illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer where she was informed that there was an unknown recall on the headlights; however, the parts for the repair were on backorder. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 57,000. The VIN was not available.
The left back lower control arm broke into while I was driving . There is not a recall on it yet. I was traveling over a bridge with light traffic when the traction control light came on and I was hearing a lot of noise coming from the Vechile .I turned my emergency flashers on And looked around the Vechile but did not see anything . So I drove with the flashers on to my car repairman . When he lifted the Vechile up he showed me what had happened it had rusted through. I consider myself very lucky if there had been heavy traffic I would have most likely been in a crash . The part too replace it is very hard too find .
Acceleration isn’t steady. Sometimes at a stop, the car won’t go for a few seconds and when it does, it jolts. When driving, the RPM also seems to go crazy, it doesn’t stay steady like other cars I’ve driven. Someone can inspect the car but I don’t have money to pay, and I can’t travel to a dealership for inspection either. When the acceleration decides to mess up, it’s dangerous especially at stop signs or stop lights that there are blind spots in, I’m terrified of getting hit because of the car failing to accelerate. The car hasn’t been inspected by anyone that I know of. It is a salvage rebuilt vehicle so I’m assuming the dealer that I bought it from checked everything before selling it. There was also no warning message whenever these things happen.
MY COMPLAINT IS INVOLVING BOTH DRIVERS AND PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHTS. WHILE DRIVING FROM THE EVENING ON INTO NIGHT TIME AND WHILE HAVING MY LIGHTS ON I CAN NOT SEE THE LIGHT IN FRONT OF ME THEY ARE VERY,VERY DIM. SO I HAVE TO RESORT ON PUTTING ON MY HIGH BEAMS WHICH CAUSES ONCOMING MOTORISTS TO BE BLINDED BY MY HIGH BEAM LIGHTS WHICH CAN CAUSE THEM TO LOSE CONTROL OF THIER VEHICLE AND CRASH INTO MINE. I ALSO CAN NOT SEE IF THERE IS ANY PEDESTRIAN IN FRONT OF MY VEHICLE OR A DISABLED VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME UNTILL I AM WITHIN A FEW FEET FROM THEM. I CAN NOT FOR SAFETY CONCERNS DRIVE MY VEHICLE AT NIGHT.
Headlight assemblies are so dim, even after replacing headlamp bulbs, that the vehicle is unsafe to drive at night. Nissan and dealer are unwilling to correct under the class actio Suarez vs Nissan eventhough vehicle was presented and confirmed needing repair during the time period
I am referring to my 2015 Nissan Altima headlight dimness. The car has been apart of a settlement which i was approved for. The settlements website is listed here: http://www.altimaheadlightsettlement.com/ I have been approved for headlight repair for more than 6months. I purchased the vehicle in December of 2019, without the knowledge of any headlight issues. I work late some times and simply cannot drive this vehicle with its headlights, it is a major safety hazard not only for myself but also for other drivers. Nissan Dealership that i purchased the vehicle at, had approved me for free headlight repair as listed in the settlement, and i had actually gone to the location, they performed an inspection / test and i had qualified for repair. Now it has since been 6+ months with no repair, and no timeline on when headlights will be replaced. I cannot continue to be at risk of driving the vehicle at night with non adequate lighting for myself to see and others to see me. The issue occurred immediately after purchasing the vehicle and has caused me to not be able to drive it at night. The issue as mentioned above, has been confirmed and a settlement has been reached but my problem is, that the settlement has been reached and i've been approved but i keep getting the work around from the dealership putting blame somewhere else and making me wait for new headlights. It is unsafe and wrong.
The contact owns a 2015 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while driving at night, the headlights were extremely dim. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact notified the dealer of the failure and confirmed that the failure was a known issue; however, there were no recalls for the failure. The contact was given an estimate for the repair. The manufacturer was also contacted but no assistance was provided. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
The contact owns a 2015 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the hood latch inadvertently disengaged. The contact then stated that two days later she received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V315000 (Latches, Locks, Linkages). The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the hood latch was replaced; however, the failure recurred. No warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the latch unlatched, and the hood flew up and cracked the windshield. The dome light was knocked out of position. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer. The vehicle was no repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 93,336.
I recently purchased a 2015 Nissan Altima for my 17 yr old son as a first time vehicle at a local dealership. Unfortunately and unbeknownst to me, this vehicle had a class action lawsuit in which the deadline ended prior to me purchasing the vehicle for having "halogen headlamps (“Class Vehicles”) defect that causes an interior reflecting surface of the headlamp to deteriorate, resulting in dimming of the low beam headlights". This vehicle is STILL NOT recalled by the manufacturer, Nissan. It puts drivers and passengers in extremely dangerous situations on the road. We have driven this vehicle twice at night and even with the high beams, you can hardly see ahead of you. I am shocked that these vehicles have not been recalled. Because I purchased this vehicle a week ago, I had no idea of the recall and when I looked up the VIN, the deadline passed. I contacted Nissan who said they will not do anything because the deadline of the class action lawsuit passed. I contacted the attorneys for the class action lawsuit who also stated nothing could be done because the deadline passed. So here we are with my son's first vehicle, now having to dish out more money to get this manufacture defect repaired because the manufacturer refuses to accept responsibility and recall these vehicles to repair this issue.
Nissan is aware that there is a problem with the headlights. There was a class action suit against them for this defect. They need to be made to issue a recall. It's very dangerous as the lights are incredibly dim making it difficult to see. I tried to get them repaired by Nissan but I missed the class action suit deadline by 5 days.
This is one of the absolutely worst kind of problems that fundamentally affects the safety of the car when driven at night. Problem: Delamination of the headlight reflective material resulting in severely degraded headlights. A multitude of accounts including at least 2 YouTube videos with many comments confirming the problem state that there is so little light the car is or is next to undrivable at night. This is a MAJOR safety issue which I am currently working around by driving with my high beams on all the time after causing a blowout on the passenger side tire by hitting an object I couldn't see and replacing the halogen with xenon bulbs before I knew what the problem was. I also nearly hit a pedestrian one night. NISSAN settled a class action lawsuit that required NISSAN to notify all owners of 2013-2018 NISSAN Altimas and remedy the problem one of 3 ways but only up to Sept 2022. The website that describes the lawsuit is at http://www.altimaheadlightsettlement.com/case-documents.aspx The problem for me specifically is that because I purchased this car in Sept 2022, I didn't become an owner of the car until the very month the last remedies specified in the class action lawsuit expired. I can say with surety that every 2013-2018 NISSAN Altima not already fixed is a timebomb for potentially fatal accidents of all types hitting any person or object imaginable at night. I question the logic of a time limit for this problem because it will most likely occur depending on how
Fatally flawed Nissan headlight assembly. The dim low-beam headlights of my 2015 Nissan Altima have been the subject of a class action lawsuit against Nissan. They may or may not have been the subject of a proposed or actual recall. My dealer is now telling me that I missed some deadline under an “inspection recall.” Apparently to confirm whether my headlights are dim or not. My vehicle was in a Nissan service center for other repairs in Jan of 2018 and again in June of 2021, they ran my VIN number. They should have told me there was some arbitrary deadline to meet to fix their fatally flawed headlight assembly. Someone at Nissan consumer affairs tells me that my VIN number isn’t included in the lawsuit/recall. This is irrelevant. My headlights are certainly UNSAFELY DIM. My 17 yr old Toyota and 19 yr old dodge both have brighter headlights than my 7 yr old Nissan. I expect Nissan to do what is right. This is a defective part that will lead to injury. I’m only asking for my vehicle to be safe again. This should be a wide recall with NO arbitrary deadlines. I fear for the safety of my wife and my children.
My headlights are very dim (very dangerous) to the point I can’t see 10 feet when the sun goes down. I never got a recall notice for Nissan 2013-2018 dim headlights. I need Nissan to remedy my car and have the headlamps replaced ASAP since I use the car to drive my elderly parents to their appts because I am their caregiver.
THE VEHICLE CONSOLE INDICATES AN ISSUE WITH THE AIRBAG. AIRBAG ERROR LIGHT IS CONTINUALLY LIT AFTER THE VEHICLE STARTS. NISSAN DEALER CONFIRMS THE LIGHTED ERROR AND REQUESTS REPLACING THE AIRBAG AS IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE.
Purchased a used 2015 Nissan Altima 2.5S and discovered that low-beam headlights are very dim. We almost hit a deer due to low visibility. Internet search reveals this is a known problem. We are too late to benefit from the class action lawsuit. A safety recall should be issued.
The cruise control doesn’t work at all, then I’ve only had the car for always two years and the power steering is giving me issues. Also when I roll the window up or dwn the lights will flicker
2015 NISSAN ALTIMA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARD TO DEFECTIVE DIMMED HEADLIGHTS.
I brought my 2015 Nissan Altima SL additions on local Nissan dealership back in March and I was told nothing was wrong with my last driver side headlamp, and I am experiencing delamination where it’s not so bright, I believe my vehicle has been affected by the recall but now it’s past the recall deadline date
For the past year in a half I have had my airbag light on. I took it to Nissan they told me I needed a new seat which; the seat moves fine and theres no actual known problem with it. I then took it to a different Nissan and they said it was a side airbag module coming from the left side. So from there they checked it then cleared the light and said everything should be all set. Few weeks later the light came back on so I returned it to them and they cleared the light again and said it was a petty reason that it kept coming back on. Months later it came right back on and I took it back and they still have yet to find a solution other than clearing the light. This is really frustrating and frighting because if they don't know why it keeps coming on I am left to think of the worst things that can happen especially when the airbag is suppose to save me in an accident.
The contact owns a 2015 Nissan Altima. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the hood unexpectedly opened, striking the roof, front windshield, and two front fenders. The vehicle veered off the roadway and was swiped by several bushes and trees. No injuries were sustained. An independent mechanic was made aware of the failure; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The mechanic related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V315000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages) which included the VIN. The contact had not yet received notification. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to take the vehicle to the dealer for the recall repair. The failure mileage was approximately 112,000.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
