An error in the communication module's SIM card software can cause a mobile network connection failure, disabling the emergency call (eCall) system.

Risk. A disabled eCall system would prevent a vehicle occupant from contacting the emergency services call center in an emergency, potentially delaying emergency responders and increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy. The communication module software will be updated through an Over-the-Air (OTA) update or by a dealer, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 8, 2022. Suspension
Filed Aug 24, 2026TX

On July 27, 2026, while driving my 2019 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT 63 under normal conditions, the vehicle suddenly displayed a suspension warning stating, “Malfunction — Drive at Max. 50 mph.” The warning appeared while the vehicle was in motion; I had not received this suspension warning before the incident. I photographed the warning when it occurred and presented the vehicle to an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealership for diagnosis and repair that same day. On July 30, the dealership confirmed in writing that the vehicle had a leaking front air strut and required replacement of the front air strut. The dealer advised that the required part did not have an established arrival date. As of August 24, the vehicle remains at the authorized dealership and has not been returned to me. I consider this a safety concern because the suspension malfunction occurred without prior warning while the vehicle was being driven and was serious enough for the vehicle itself to instruct the driver not to exceed 50 mph. A failure affecting an air-suspension component during operation raises concern regarding vehicle ride height, stability, handling, and the ability to safely operate the vehicle at normal highway speeds. The failed component and vehicle are presently in the possession of the authorized Mercedes-Benz dealership and should therefore be available for inspection. The condition has been confirmed by the dealership as a leaking front air strut requiring replacement. The vehicle has a signifi

Electrical System
Filed Nov 14, 2025CA

Recall 2024100002 for my 2019 Mercedes-AMG GT 53 is listed as “Completed” in the manufacturer’s system, but the dealer’s service record from November 2024 clearly states that the recall part was on backorder and the repair was not performed. There is no later record of the recall ever being completed. After the recall was marked “Completed,” multiple paid repairs were performed in the same system, including extensive electrical and engine-related work, totaling several thousand dollars. Warning messages and check-engine lights continued to appear, and the underlying issue was never properly resolved. The dealer repeatedly cleared fault codes and performed symptom-based repairs without identifying or correcting the cause. In 2025, the dealer also presented a very high repair estimate related to the same components affected by the recall. This raises concerns that safety-related repairs may have been converted into paid work while the recall remained incomplete. The vehicle was also marked “Disabled” by the dealer, even though it remained drivable. Release of the vehicle was delayed without a clear explanation. The dealer has not provided any confirmation that the recall was actually performed. The manufacturer acknowledged receiving my concern and forwarded it to the dealer, but no one has responded for several weeks. The unresolved status of this recall and the repeated issues affecting the electrical, engine, and propulsion systems raise concerns of a safety defect and possi

Steering

The steering column sticks in the up position. The electric motor will not move up or down. Not being able to correctly adjust the height of the steering column is a safety issue.

Reading this record

No unusual pattern of severe incidents in the complaint record.

Complaint counts track how many cars were sold and how long they have been on the road as much as they track quality. A common model from 2013 has had a decade to accumulate reports; a rare one from last year has not. The signal worth weighing is in the severity columns, in whether the same component keeps appearing, and in whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.

Recall repairs are free for as long as the recall stands. Check whether a specific car still has open work at NHTSA's VIN lookup.
