AS I WAS BACKING OUT MY DRIVEWAY I HEARD A LOUD POP NOISE AND THEN NOTICED THAT MY FRONT DRIVERS SIDE TIRE HAS COLLAPSED MAKING THE CAR UN-DRIVEABLE. HAD I BEEN DRIVING AT HIGH SPEED IT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A DANGEROUS LIFE THREATENING SITUATION. IT WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THERE I WAS TOLD THAT RANGE ROVER IN CANADA AND THE UK HAD BEEN RECALLED FOR THE SAME MALFUNCTION. MY RANGE ROVER HAS ONLY BEEN SERVICE BY AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND WAS AT LOW MILEAGE FOR THE YEAR OF THE CAR. NEVER HAD ANYONE WHO INSPECTED OR DID WORK ON THE CAR SAW ANY EVIDENCE THAT SOMETHING WAS READY TO BREAK. IT HAS SINCE BEEN REPAIRED AT A COST OF $8031.68. I REPORTED TO LAND ROVER NORTH AMERICA THEY HAVE DECLINED TO RECOGNIZE ANY FAULT ON THEIR END AND DID NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE FOR THE REPAIR WHEN THEY HAVE SEEN THIS IN OTHER COUNTRIES ON MY SAME MODEL AND YEAR. HERE IS THE CANADIAN RECALL #N759 FOR STEERING KNUCKLE COLLAPSED.
2015 Land Rover Range Rover complaints
Owner reports filed with NHTSA about this vehicle, newest first and reproduced as filed. They are unverified accounts: one proves nothing, and a pattern across many is the thing worth reading. Back to the full 2015 record →
My 2015 range rover had a catastrophic failure of the driver side steering knuckle while underway. This caused me to lose control of the vehicle and the wheel almost fell off the car. Fortunately, I was going less than 30 mph. The failure was caused by the regular application of brakes approaching an intersection. Without the support of the steering knuckle the wheel has no support and the steering and braking are compromised. The vehicle is currently at the landrover dealership in Bedford NH and has been inspected and the repair is estimated to cost 7900. An additional 3000 to replace the passenger side steering knuckle as well. There were no warning lamps or signs of the failure prior to the incident. The car has very low mileage for age and is exceptionally well maintained. Upon further investigation I discovered that hundreds of owners around the world and in the USA have experienced the same random failure on their 2015 model Range Rover. Both Landrover Canada and Land rover UK have issued safety recalls(N759 recall number) for the same year and model of my vehicle. Land Rover USA has not issued a recall and I think this is a major safety issue for this vehicle. The NHTSA should look into this. Clearly there was a bad batch of parts in the 2015 year and they have subsequently redesigned the parts. I've uploaded a couple of example letters for the international recalls. Yes the part is available for inspection or you can google it and see 100s of similar failures.
My car has 58000 miles And the alternator failed on the way due to valve cover gasket leaking oil on top of alternator to and ultimately fail. Due to alternator failure the cars driving features shutdown within few seconds all the warning lights came up and emergency braking, suspension and gears stopped working. This is a serious concern as the car systems shutdown this could have put me in a dangerous situations in mountains
Front right knuckle cracked and separated from upper control arm ball joint causing front lower control arm ball joints to fail and inner CV axle joint to separate and also cause damage to air spring. The part failure occurred while I was driving and the vehicle lost all control. I feared greatly for my safety and if I were on a highway, I could've crashed into other vehicles. The manufacturer has recall campaigns for this exact issue in the UK and Canada, but not the US. The vehicle was repaired at a manufacturer dealer at my expense. The manufacturer is aware of the problem with my vehicle. There were no warning lights or signs whatsoever. The part fails without warning.
Iam writing to express my deep concern regarding safety recall N759v2 issued for 2014-2016 Range Rover L405 vehicles in the United Kingdom and Canada. It has come to my attention that this safety recall has not yet been formally announced for the same vehicles in the United States. I am the owner of a 2015 Range Rover HSE, with the VIN: [XXX] . As a responsible vehicle owner, I prioritize the safety and well-being of myself, my passengers, my children, and fellow road users. The lack of a safety recall announcement for the same vehicles in the United States has raised concerns about the safety of my vehicle. Given the seriousness of safety recalls and their potential impact on public safety, I have contacted Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC to issue a recall in the USA to conduct a thorough inspection of my vehicle to ensure it meets the required safety standards. I believe it is crucial to take proactive steps to address any potential safety issues promptly and to ensure the safety of all individuals on the road. My attempts to contact JLR have been unsuccessful despite a number of USA based vehicles falling in the VIN range having failed steering knuckles. I would appreciate it if you could schedule an inspection at the soonest available date and communicate the details to me. Additionally, if any safety-related concerns are identified during the inspection, I request that appropriate actions be taken to rectify them in compliance with the highest safety standards. I am
Cooling notification not sufficient. Sensor location will not measure if coolant is low, therefor causing complete failure of engine of overheating without warning/error.
The Land Rover dealership inspecting my vehicle for routine service, found that both front spindles (right and left) had significant fatigue cracks in the metal of the front spindle assembly. The dealership stated it was a critical safety issue, and the entire front spindle assembly could break off or detach from the car while driving. The dealership will not allow the car to be driven in this condition. This vehicle has only 38,350 miles on it, and it is exclusively used for commuting between home and work. It has never been used off-road or in any improper manner. The metal (aluminum) used to forge the factory spindle assembly is defective and will prematurely crack under the weight of the vehicle and poses an immediate and potentially fatal danger to the driver and occupants.

I HAD BACKED IN TO THE GARAGE AND TURNED THE 'KNOB' TO PARK. THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK, I HAD REMOVED MY SEATBELT BUT NOT EXITED THE CAR YET AND THE CAR WENT BACKWARDS WITH SOME FORCE AND BREAKING DIDN'T STOP IT, ONLY AFTER I HIT THE BUTTON TO CUT IT OFF, MULTIPLE TIMES, DID IT FINALLY SHUT DOWN. MY HUSBAND WAS BEHIND THE CAR, GETTING READY TO GET THE GROCERIES OUT OF THE REAR. THIS VEHICLE STRUCK HIM AND WENT THRU THE KITCHEN WALL OF OUR CONDO. HIS LEG WAS STUCK UNDER THE TIRE WHICH THAT WAS TURNING ON TOP OF HIS CALF. I AM ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN THE CAR WAS IN PARK BC NOT ONLY WAS THE KNOB SET AT P BUT ALSO THE P WAS ON THE SCREEN. ONLY CERTAIN BECAUSE I'M ALWAYS CAUTIOUS DUE TO THE PROXIMITY OF DISTANCE OF EVERYTHING IN THE GARAGE AND TIGHT QUARTERS.
3 OF THE 4 DOORS (DRIVER'S DOOR, REAR DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR AND REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR) WILL NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK. KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM WILL NOT WORK, NOR DOES USING KEY FOB. DOORS CAN'T BE LOCKED WHILE CAR IS IN MOTION OR WHEN STOPPED. THE 3 DOORS MENTIONED ABOVE STAY UNLOCKED AT ALL TIMES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT MANAGED TO VEER TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO LAND ROVER SCARBOROUGH (371 US-1, SCARBOROUGH, ME 04074, (207) 883-0161) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING RACK BOLTS FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE CONTACT WAS PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: [XXX] AND THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED 80% ASSISTANCE TOWARD THE REPAIR COST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 70,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
REAR MIDDLE SEAT BELT BECOME UNLATCHED. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHEN STATIONARY AS WELL AS WHILE IN MOTION. WE HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS SEVERAL TIMES WHILE TURNING AS WELL AS WHILE IDLE.
RIGHT REAR DOOR WILL NOT LOCK WHEN USING THE REMOTE OR ELECTRIC LOCK FEATURE. IN ORDER TO LOCK THE DOOR YOU MUST MANUALLY DEPRESS THE LOCK FEATURE. WHEN DRIVING THE DOOR REMAINS UNLOCKED AND THEREFORE COULD OPEN.
09/06/18 I WAS STOPPED ,WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, WAITING TO TURN LEFT BECAUSE THERE WAS ONCOMING TRAFFIC. SUDDENLY, WHILE I STILL HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. MY VEHICLE ACCELERATED AND I HAD TO VEER AND SWERVE TO MISS ONCOMING TRAFFIC. 09/07/18 IT WAS ABOUT 10:50 AM AND I WAS PREPARING TO PARK NEXT TO A STORE. AS I WAS ATTEMPTING TO PARK, AGAIN WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, MY VEHICLE ACCELERATED OUT OF CONTROL AND I WAS THRUST UP THE CURB, ACROSS A SIDE WALK AND THRU THE STORE FRONT. EVEN THOUGH MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE, IT WOULDN'T STOP. THERE WAS SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE AND THE STORE MY AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. SUDDENLY THE VEHICLE SLOWED ON ITS OWN. IT WAS PLACED ON A TOW TRUCK AND DELIVERED TO THE H&H PREMIER AUTOMOTIVE IN OMAHA. LAND ROVER ENGINEERS AND MY INSURANCE COMPANY ARE INVESTIGATING MY CASE NUMBER WITH LAND ROVER IS 8000569280 I DO HAVE PICTURES IF YOU EMAIL ME I CAN ATTACH THEM TO THAT EMAIL. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS. I'M AFRAID RANGE ROVER WILL NOT ADMIT THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM BECAUSE IT WOULD BE A MAJOR RECALL BUT SOMEONE IS GOING TO BE KILLED IF THIS CONTINUES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER. WHILE MAKING A TURN AT APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR UNLATCHED INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT'S NINE MONTH OLD CHILD WAS SEATED IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE CLOSEST TO THE DOOR. ANOTHER PASSENGER WAS SEATED ON THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE AND QUICKLY REACHED OVER THE CHILD'S CAR SEAT TO KEEP THE CHILD FROM FALLING FROM THE MOVING VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED FRACTURED RIBS. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE DOOR WAS TIGHTLY SECURED PRIOR TO THE RELEASE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE SOFTWARE WAS UPDATED AND LOCK WAS REPLACED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V385000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES). THE VEHICLE PRODUCTION DATE WAS MARCH 14, 2015; HOWEVER, THE AFFECTED VEHICLE'S MANUFACTURED DATE ONLY EXTENDED TO MARCH 9, 2015. ON A SEPARATE OCCASION, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTING DIMMED WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,000.
MY CAR HAS BEEN IN 4 TIMES WITH THE SAME ISSUE, THE VEHICLE WILL RANDOMLY SHUT ITSELF OFF, I.E. THE CAR SHUTS OFF, THE TRANSMISSION MOVES TO PARK. IT IS NOT ECOSTART OR FROM MY UNBUCKLING THE SEATBELT. THIS HAPPENS WHEN I AM TURNING INTO PARKING SPACES AND IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE VEHICLE STOPS, OCCURRENCE IS 20+ TIMES NOW. THE FAULT WILL NOT SAVE IN THE COMPUTER AND LAND ROVERS ENGINEERS HAVE ADMITTED ITS PROBABLY A SOFTWARE GLITCH BUT CANNOT FIX IF IT DOESN'T SHOW IN COMPUTER. I HAVE ATTEMPTED BUYBACK PROCESS WITH LAND ROVER WITH THEM ADMITTING MY CAR HAS "INHERENT DEFECTS" THEY WILL NOT BUY THE VEHICLE BACK, ARE UNABLE TO FIX THIS AND OTHER ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE. LAND ROVER CLAIMS THE ISSUE DOES NOT AFFECT DRIVEABILITY.
WHEN FUELING THE VEHICLE, THE FUEL HANDLE CONSTANTLY STOPS DUE TO A VEHICLE DESIGN DEFECT. IT CAN SOMETIMES TAKE TEN TO FIFTEEN ATTEMPTS TO COMPLETE THE FUELING OF THE VEHICLE. THE PROBLEM IS THAT YOU CAN NEVER KNOW WHEN THE FUEL TANK IS FULL SO THAT WHILE FUELING THE VEHICLE THE TANK CAN OVER FILL AND OVER FLOW CAUSING THE EXCESS FUEL TO GET ALLOVER YOUR HAND, THE SIDE OF THE CAR AND THE GROUND. THIS CAN RUIN THE FINISH OF THE VEHICLE BUT EVEN MORE IMPORTANTLY; THERE IS A DANGER THAT A SPARK OF ANY KIND CAN IGNITE THE EXCESS FUEL AND CAUSE AN EXPLOSION. I HAD REPORTED THIS TO THE DEALER SOON AFTER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN LATE 2014, THEY KNOW ABOUT THE PROBLEM BUT HAD NO SOLUTION. I HAVE GROWN TIRED AND AFRAID OF THIS SO I REPORTED IT TODAY DIRECTLY TO RANGE ROVER CUSTOMER SERVICE (BRIDGETTE) AND SHE SAID THAT THEY ALSO KNEW ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND ARE STILL WORKING ON IT OVER A YEAR LATER. THERE IS NO CURRENT FIX AND I BELIEVE THAT THE NHTSA SHOULD LOOK INTO IT BEFORE THERE IS A FATAL ACCIDENT.
IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC FOR APPROXIMATELY 20 MINUTES THE RANGE ROVER'S ECO MODE WAS ENGAGING PROPERLY AND SHUTTING DOWN THE ENGINE. IT HAD BEEN RESTARTING PROPERLY HOWEVER IN ONE INSTANCE THE VEHICLE DID NOT RESTART AND THE 'D' INDICATOR FLASHED. THIS LEFT THE VEHICLE DISABLED IN THE MIDDLE LANE OF TRAFFIC. RESTARTING THE ENGINE SOLVED THE PROBLEM HOWEVER THIS COULD HAVE BEEN DANGEROUS IF I HAD BEEN UNABLE TO REENGAGE 'DRIVE.'
WHILE DRIVING ON A 4 LANE ROAD AT APPROXIMATELY 40-45MPH, MY VEHICLE (5 MONTHS OLD, 6,200 MILES) SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND RAPIDLY DECELERATED AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. A LARGE WARNING SIGNAL DISPLAYED ON THE DASHBOARD INDICATING "WARNING GEARBOX FAILURE". LUCKILY TRAFFIC WAS LIGHT AT THE TIME AND I WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD WITHOUT INCIDENT. IT APPEARED THE TRANSMISSION FROZE AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED. LAND ROVER HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEM. IF I WOULD HAVE BEEN IN AN AREA WITH HEAVIER TRAFFIC, OR ON AN INTERSTATE I HAVE NO DOUBT THAT A MAJOR CRASH WOULD HAVE OCCURRED. IN RESEARCHING THE 2015 EVOQUE IT APPEARS LAND ROVER HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING SIGNIFICANT ISSUES WITH THE 9 SPEED TRANSMISSION IN THIS VEHICLE BASED ON WEB SEARCH RESULTS. IT APPEARS THIS TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN RECALLED IN SEVERAL COUNTRIES, SPECIFICALLY CHINA. I BELIEVE THAT IN THE INTEREST OF PUBLIC SAFETY A REVIEW OF THIS VEHICLE MODEL'S PERFORMANCE HISTORY NEEDS EXTENSIVE REVIEW.
I WAS STOPPED AT A LIGHT AND WHEN I WENT TO GO THE CAR WOULD NOT GO INTO DRIVE - IT WOULD ONLY ROLL BACKWARDS. I ROLLED BACKWARDS INTO ANOTHER CAR. AFTER THE ACCIDENT MY CAR WOULD ALSO NOT GO INTO PARK. I HAD TO STAY IN THE CAR WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE UNTIL THE POLICE AND TOW TRUCK ARRIVED. LAND ROVER SAID THEY WERE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND APPLIED A SOFTWARE PATCH TO THE VEHICLE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM WITH THE ELECTRONIC TRANSMISSION. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A POTENTIALLY FATAL CONDITION THAT SHOULD WARRANT A MANDATORY RECALL. LAND ROVER DOES NOT FEEL THAT CONSUMERS SHOULD BE NOTIFIED, AND THE SOFTWARE PATCH SHOULD ONLY BE APPLIED ON A CASE BY CASE BASIS. *TR

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
