The vehicle’s check engine light come on earlier this year and the electric motor/battery was not functioning properly. It was serviced in September and I was told by the dealership that the software update would resolve the issue. It did not. The vehicle was serviced again on 12/13/24 and I was told that it passed the 95B recall test but that the check engine light came back on. The dealership said they ran more tests and now the electric cooling/heating unit needs to be replaced but they won’t have the part for approximately 2 weeks. The electric cooling/heating unit is for controlling climate within the vehicle and should not affect its propulsion. While driving the vehicle the day after I picked it up from the dealership, I was nearly involved in what would’ve been a serious accident. I was turning at an intersection, but the vehicle lost motor function and would not accelerate, leaving me sitting in the intersection with traffic oncoming. Fortunately, after several seconds, the vehicle began to move with not much time to spare. This problem recurred throughout my drive returning home. I have not and will not drive the vehicle again until I am able to return to the dealership for a third time.

With only 10,000 miles on the Jeep wrangler vehicle, we are experiencing the death wobble. We contacted Jeep and they advised us this was not covered under our warranty any longer since past 3 years. We had the dealership request reconsideration on our behalf since this is a known issue and they agreed to pay for 60% of the repair, however They should be liable for all of it since this is an ongoing issue with their vehicles specifically the 2021 year. Please assist us with getting this actually recalled and get reimbursement.

VIN: [XXX] I own a 2021 Jeep Wrangler that has 35K miles on it, very well taken care of and never off road. When i hit a bump my jeep shakes really bad to where it feels as if will make me crash due to it becoming out of control. I'm reading online this is a common problem with this jeep as described as (Death Wobble) A certified mechanic looked at my jeep and found that I have loose tie rod ends and my drag link is loose? My question is with an almost new jeep with not many miles on it is there a recall out with this issue? Seems so many other jeep owners are empiercing the same problem? What can I do to correct this? This is a manufacture problem, not mine and I shouldnt have to endure the repair bills Thank you [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I have had 2 separate incidents with this tow bar system. Both resulted in catastrophic failure of the equipment. In Oct. 2024 while traveling in Atlanta Ga. a retaining pin came out of the tow bar on one side and resulted in the tow vehicle becoming uncontrollable. I convinced myself this was operator error. Since then, I replaced the damaged tow bar with the equivalent tow bar from Etrailer. Again on Fri [XXX] the same thing happened again with a lost pin resulting in uncontrollable vehicle while travelling through Shreveport La. I firmly believe that this tow bar system has some design flaws that allows the retaining pins to dislodge while experiencing rough road conditions. This system is designed to flat tow a vehicle behind an RV. The RV in question is a 2024 Jayco Seneca rated to tow up to 10,000lbs. The vehicle being towed is a 2021 Jeep Wrangler with an estimated weight of 4,500lbs. The tow bar system mentioned above is rated up to 6,000lbs. I have contacted Etrailer and they have offered a refund. I think this system needs to be reevaluated for its safety designs. I was traveling at 55 mph on 4 lane highway and hit a bumo in the road. The vehicle began to shake to a point where it was nearly uncontrollable. I was able to get to the side of the road and stop. I then drove slowly and the shaking stopped. This was on a 2021 Jeep Wrangler. Further investigation indicated that this is a WIDE SPREAD problem with Jeep Wranglers. I have taken the vehicle to the local Jeep dealer who verified it the DEATH WOBBLE. It apparently is due to a malfunctioning steering damper. I have instructed the dealer to repair but they have indicated that there is no reimbursement for this problem despite its common occurrence on Jeep Wranglers

I have a 2021 Jeep Wrangler JL--VIN [XXX] . On Wednesday, [XXX], the vehicle suddenly and without prior warning overheated. I immediately parked the car. There were no obvious signs of leaks but we went and got some coolant and I put about 1/4 gallon of coolant in as it was low. I had the car towed to the dealership. The service advisor informed me that the issue was related to TSB 07-001-22 REV. B. They had to tighten the bolts connecting the inlet tube. As I searched on some Jeep Forums, I discovered that this issue was addressed with CSN ZD8, however, it's only applicable to certain VINs within 2021-2022. When I mentioned this to the advisor, she said my car wasn't affected by the recall. Clearly, this is a broader issue than just the VINs noted in the recall since this exact issue happened to my vehicle. I reached out to FCA and was assigned a case manager. After speaking with her, she informed me that she just talked with the dealership possibly providing cost assistance with the matter. I don't know why they're putting it back on the dealership when it's clearly a manufacturing defect. The dealership covered about 1/2 of the cost. I was traveling on the [XXX] on Sunday [XXX] and while started smelling brakes and I got off at the service area and pressed on the brake pedal and the vehicle wouldn’t stop. I had no brake pedal and just heard a clicking sound. There were people everywhere and I didn’t want anyone to get hurt so I had no choice but to drive the vehicle towards a yellow pole which did stop the vehicle but I have been told after the car was towed to a shop that there is an error code B22A9 and believe it was caused by some ecu failure of some sort. The vehicle is in really bad shape and airbags also didn’t deploy. I would like this to be investigated as I would not feel safe in this vehicle if it’s repaired and returned to service. It is a 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe and I am aware of issues being reported with the battery but nothing for this problem except for other mentions on the internet on owners having similar problems intermittently. The jeep will be towed to Pohanka Jeep in Salisbury Md. There wasn’t any warning lights. I give permission for the vehicle to be inspected at anytime. I feel this vehicle is a danger to the public safety being it was just serviced and inspected by a Jeep dealership 2 weeks prior and the brakes suddenly fall and now there’s a code with something to do with an ecu or electronics having to do with the brakes failing. Could have been killed in the accident or seriously hurt if I hadn’t exited off the road and used the pole to stop the vehicle. Thank you INFORMATION

The contact stated that the vehicle started shaking violently after driving over a bump in the roadway, causing the contact to lose control of the vehicle. The contact regained control of the vehicle once the vehicle had slowed down and the shaking ceased. The dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the model year vehicle was not covered under recall. The contact was then informed that the steering wheel stabilizer needed to be installed to prevent the failure. The electric motor system does not engage on my Jeep Wrangler 4xe Plug In Hybrid. When you press the accelerator pedal after a stop (e.g. at an intersection or to make a left turn), the Jeep electrical motor does not engage. The Jeep may drift into the intersection or oncoming traffic without motive force. After a period of time, the gas engine will engage. I estimate the delay to be about 30 seconds. I often depress the accelerator multiple times before the gas engine engages. This is extremely dangerous as the vehicle drifts into an intersection, and could potentially be hit by oncoming traffic. The vehicle shows an engine light identified as a voltage inconsistency in the main battery. It appears the entire electrical motive system is shut down, but the computer is still calling on it to operate. When it does not operate, the gas engine will start, but there is a significant and extremely dangerous delay. I have called the dealership and Jeep to request guidance on how to address this issue, but neither has been able to provide any assistance. They tell me there is a pending recall but no solution available.

In the three years I have owned this vehicle I have had the steering damper replaced to correct uncontrollable vibrating of the steering wheel, commonly referred to as the “Death Wobble”. The issue occurs when driving at highway speeds and requires the driver to quickly slow down to stop the “wobble”. There is no warning light or detection, and the issue come on quickly. The dealer has identified the problem with the remedy being replacement of the steering damper. While this does initially fix the symptoms, it does not correct the problem, as I have had three dampers replaced in 24 months. This is obviously only a bandaid and not the correct fix for this dangerous problem. My opinion is that a recall is needed to allow for a proper repair.

I had the most recent incident driving Westbound in the evening hours shortly before Sunset around October 10, 2024. It appears the sunlight from the setting sun triggered my adaptive cruise control and forward collision alert and triggered an alarm sound and activated emergency braking at the same time. I have had two previous incidents like this. One at the exact same location on my commute home at around the same time and maybe a week before. A third occurrence was on an Eastbound morning drive with the rising sun. All three incidents triggered emergency braking from a speed of ca. 65mph. I was able to react fast enough to deactivate the ACC by lightly pushing the brake pedal and could avoid serving or complete stopping of the vehicle. Luckily during all incidents I had no close traffic behind me, otherwise the incidents could have caused a rear end collision.

Jeep/Stellantis needs more oversight over their 4XE "Battery Separator" problems. November 22, 2023 (Recall B9A) - Battery Separator Fires September 28, 2024 (Recall 95A/B) - Battery Separator Fires Clearly Stellantis has known about this exact issue for around a year, and likely significantly longer in the lead-up to issuing the original B9A recall. How many cars need to catch fire? How many people should risk injury? How much loss-of use is acceptable for those not able to charge their EVs? Clearly Stellantis is simply struggling to find a way to reduce their liability, by narrowing down the affected vehicles. However after 12-18 months, enough is enough.

My 20214XE Hybrid from the day I bought it was often saying "electric not available" There was a potential fire recall last winter that took four months to remedy, during that time we were told not to charge it, park in our garage, park near our home/structures or park by other cars. I purchase a hybrid that I'm not able to use as a hybrid. Finally, got the repair in the spring. Literally, two months later, it starts doing all kinds of dangerous things. I would come to a stop or be in the middle of a turn and would have no power whatsoever, gas pedal to the floor and going nowhere and then would lunge forward. Took to the dealer, computer said CRITICAL hybrid battery overheating, the original repair clearly didn't work. Eventually, it was approved for hybrid battery being replaced. All was well until 2 weeks ago when it got "jeep death wobble", violently shaking back and forth at about 60mph. They did repair it but informed us that there is ANOTHER RISK FOR FIRE RECALL, do not charge it or park in garage, etc. etc. I have a vehicle that is a risk for BURNING MY HOUSE DOWN, this is multiple times and unacceptable. I also purchased a hybrid that I am not able to use as a hybrid.

Driving on an Interstate Highway in Florida, hit a small "rut" in the roadway at Highway speeds and the front end started shaking "VIOLENTLY" to the point I though the vehicle was going to "Roll Over". I had to slow down, switch from the center lane of a three lane highway crossing over the outside lane then onto the shoulder of the Highway, get the speed down from 70 to 50 mph before the "Violent Shaking" stopped. When speaking with a service center for Jeep I was told this is a "KNOWN ISSUE" with the 2021 Jeep Wrangler but there is no recall for the vehicle year 2021 BUT there were for other vehicle years, which I find UNBELEIVABLE!!!! I would like to express a concern with how Jeep is handing the issue with the hybrid batteries in the Wrangler 4XE. I'm connected with the 4XE across the US and Canada and I am seeing issues with how they are addressing the potential for fires in the batteries. In my case, my Jeep was initially part of the B9A recall but was removed from the list. I was on the 04B recall list and had that update performed. A few months later, my battery triggered the P0BBD code that indicated that I needed a new battery. We have seen this trend in the 4XE community where someone who wasn't on the B9A list ended up having a battery issue. Some of these instances include Jeeps that were on the 04B list but had yet to receive that update because Jeep communicated that it was a "defrost" recall without telling customers that they were receiving the same updates that were included in the B9A. So some people are putting off a very important recall because they believe it is just a defrost recall. After I had my battery replaced, the latest 95B recall was issued. My Jeep is on this recall list even though I just had a new battery installed. It would sure seem like the issue with the separators in the battery would have already been known when my new battery was installed. To me, that is an unsafe mishandling of the situation to put a known faulty battery in during a replacement. I do not feel that Jeep is handing these battery issues well and I believe they need some sort of accountability in place

Jeep Death Wobble. While driving at 65 mph on the freeway, I drove over a small bump in the road. My vehicle started to shake uncontrollably. The shaking would not stop until I slowed down to under 30 MPH. This is very unsafe to do while driving on a busy CA freeway. The first time this shaking happened my vehicle had about 26,000 miles. Within the next 1000 miles of driving, the wobble has happened approximately 10 more times, one of which the vehicle went off the road into a ditch. I contacted Jeep and they said they would not fix the problem because the 3-yr/36,000 mile warranty expired. I asked if they were ok with having unsafe vehicles on the road and they said "yes". The front suspension is the system that failed. My safety was at risk when the vehicle was shaiking and went off the road. The safety of other drivers was at risk when I had to slow down to under 30 MPH to get my vehicle to stop shaking. The vehicle was taken to a Jeep dealership for inspection/repair but they would not diagnose the problem without me pre-paying a $250 fee. The vehicle was taken to an independent service center and the problem was confirmed. The vehicle was not inspected byt he manufacturer, police, or insurance. There were no warning lights or symptoms before this problem first appeared.

Beginning September 30th I experienced the Death Wobble while driving on the highway. It cause violent shaking of my vehicle. It stopped when i slowed to about 50 MPH, each subsequent day after that it would start shaking when i reached a speed of over 60 MPH. It is currently with the dealer to be repaired. Issues include: steering shock has air, also there is an updated longer shoulder bolt that holds the dampner that should fix the steering wheel shake. They also discovered the shock absorbers leak shock oil. In addition, I have had to replace the auxiliary battery placed 2x since I have bought and it is already draining to low levels, which will prevent the electronic system to work less than 1 year after replacing the battery last. These all are defects to the design and should be recalled as they are safety issues.

I waited for more information to be released on 10/1/24 and saw nothing. I chose to park my Jeep outside and not charge because of what I had heard in the news. I called Mopar on 10/2/24 and was told that the VIN numbers had not been released for the recall but would be released on 10/3/24. I checked my VIN on that day and saw that my vehicle was included in the recall. I called my Jeep service center and was told that they don't have the parts for the recall and they may not be available for months. I asked if I needed to continue to park outside and not charge and was told they don't know anything about that. I called Mopar on 10/4/24 and was told that there is no remedy available and that I do need to park outside and not charge due to fire risk. What if I did not watch the news? What if I did not make these calls? This is safety concern if very alarming to me. I am now stuck with a Jeep that I can no longer charge (which is why I bought it) and I am concerned it could catch on fire and there is no timeline on the fix for this hazardous situation. This is the second recall for a fire hazard for this Jeep. How do I know this time it will be fixed? Thank you for your attention to this frustrating and dangero

I have experience multiple episodes of the "death wobble"that previous 2021 Jeep Wrangler have reported over the past year. The steering wheel starts to wobble at times going over 60mph or hitting a bump. It appears that that the auto maker does not have an answer given the reports I have reviewed by NHTSA.

While driving the vehicle shut off and displayed a warning to check battery charging system. I had to deploy emergency flashers and coast into a gas station parking lot. After parking and I was able to restart vehicle after a couple attempts and it ran normally. It has not happened since but very concerning as I was in a 50 mph area when vehicle shut off and was luckily able to safely find a pull off area. I stopped by the local dealer to report the issue but they saw no outstanding recalls or service bulletins so nothing was done.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
