Vehicle while driving using adaptive cruise control will sometimes fail to recognize stopped vehicles directly in front of the vehicle, within standard detection range. Continue to accelerate rapidly towards a stopped vehicle and fail to slow, stop, or activate emergency braking requiring driver intervention. Commonly occurs when following a vehicle slowing due to traffic, the vehicle in front that is being accurately tracked will change lanes- there will be another vehicle in front that may be stopped. The Jeep accelerates failing to see the stopped vehicle. This condition occurs once every couple of days.

Follow-Up to Complaint #11696210 This is a formal update to my original safety complaint regarding my 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe (VIN: [XXX] ), which suddenly decelerated from 50 mph to 10 mph on October 11, 2025 — a terrifying incident that occurred immediately after an over-the-air (OTA) Uconnect software update. Since submitting the original complaint, Jeep/Uconnect confirmed that my vehicle was affected by the faulty OTA update, but they have refused to provide any documentation of what occurred. They admitted the update was involved but claimed they had “no access” to the engineering or software details. They referred me back to the dealership, which had originally denied any recall existed and still has not provided a clear explanation of what was done. I have made repeated attempts to escalate my case through Jeep, Uconnect, and Stellantis, but: -My case was closed prematurely despite the seriousness of the issue -No one will provide documentation of what software version was installed, rolled back, or repaired -No one will confirm whether the recall fix was fully implemented -All email escalation contacts have since been removed I’ve been left without answers and with growing concerns about my safety in this vehicle The recall issued days after my incident matches exactly what happened to me, yet I’ve been treated as though this was an unrelated or minor issue. It was not. I was extremely lucky I wasn’t in heavy traffic when the malfunction occurred. I am urging NHTSA to

I am submitting this formal escalation request regarding my 2024 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4xe (VIN XXX). My vehicle has an extensive and well-documented history of mechanical failure, unresolved safety concerns, and open recalls without available remedies. I am requesting immediate senior-level review and written confirmation of the vehicle’s current stop-sale / stop-drive status and repair pathway. Timeline of Key Events February 9, 2024 — Full Engine Replacement: At approximately four months old, the engine failed completely and required a full replacement at Mullahey CDJR. Vehicle was inoperative for 28–29 days. Stellantis Case #XXX(“Gigi”) was opened. I reported significant inconvenience, lack of a comparable rental, and concern about future reliability. October 2024 — Second Breakdown / Powertrain Issues: Vehicle experienced additional engine and powertrain failures resulting in renewed service delays. Stellantis Case #XXX(2024) was opened. Case managed by Dustin Keyes (ext. XXX). Issues included loss of power, extensive repair wait times, and no clarity on whether the vehicle was placed under a formal stop-sale / stop-drive hold during the repairs. October 2025 — Active Federal Safety Recall: The vehicle is now listed under NHTSA Recall 25V-710 (Stellantis A7C) — “Recall Incomplete – Remedy Not Yet Available.” Defect involves loss of motive power while driving due to internal communication failures between the HCP and TBM modules. JEEP 2024 Wrangler 4XE HYBRID EXPLODED VIN# [XXX] On [XXX], just before [XXX], our 2024 hybrid vehicle began emitting smoke while parked in our attached garage. Thankfully, our smoke alarm alerted us - my wife discovered it was coming from the garage and immediately called 911. Police arrived within minutes and were able to push the car out of the garage. Shortly after that, the vehicle caught fire. First responders later told us that if my wife had not acted quickly, the fire could have easily spread to our home—potentially resulting in a total loss, or worse, endangering our lives if it had happened while we were asleep. It took four hours of continuous firefighting to manage the flames. The Hazmat team explained that this was due to “thermal runaway”, a dangerous chain reaction in lithium-ion batteries where heat builds uncontrollably, leading to fire or even explosions. These types of fires can’t be extinguished conventionally—they must burn out once the chemical reaction is complete. Some Important Context: This vehicle is the same year, make, and model as those recently recalled for hybrid battery fire risks. However, our VIN was not included in the recall—something we now believe may have been an oversight, as the circumstances appear nearly identical. Back in June, the car had another serious issue: it shut down completely despite a full gas tank and a 50% EV charge. It had to be towed to the dealership, and was returned to us a day or 2 later, marked as “repaired.” A

I came home shortly before 4pm on [XXX] and plugged in my 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe inside of the garage. I closed the door and about 45 minutes later noticed smoke in the yard. We then realized it was coming from inside our own garage and the car engine compartment was on fire and called 911 just before 5pm. The fire department arrived quickly and gained access to the garage. They removed the car from the power source and extinguished the fire. The most damage was seen in the driver's side engine compartment. There was also property damage including smoke and fire damage inside of the garage and to the contents of our garage. The Fire department stayed with us until the tow truck company came to get the car. Two weeks prior to the fire, this car was in for service at the Jeep dealership on Monday [XXX]. The check engine light was on related to cooling for the EV motor. While the check engine light was on, the car would not use the EV mode at times with a warning "Electric Mode Unavailable Cabin Cooling or Heating". This put my family at huge risk; we are lucky that we were home to notice the fire and that no one was hurt in the fire. We are also living with the toxicity of the burn of the lithium ion battery and electric plastic components next to our house, on our property. It caused a huge amount of stress and fear for my children who recently went through 2 evacuations with the Eaton fire. The Jeep is available for inspection. It is being stored at the lot of the tow truck c

2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe VIN: [XXX] I have driven 4 other 4xe 2024 in the last two months as rental cars and have noticed my jeep is not performing anywhere near the other four, I have driven. Seems like my jeep isn’t tuned correctly or the engine/transmission has an issue. Engine: -When starting and as engine warming up it shakes the care periodically. There are times when it will shake the car as it heats up, rocking the car slightly and you can hear the engine make a weird knocking noise. -This also occurs when in E-Save mode and charging the battery is selected. The engine does not idle smooth all the time and sometimes runs rough then goes back to normal -There does not seem to be much torque Transmission: -The 1st – 3rd gear shift at high RPM times even when barley giving it any gas. -The transmission shifts down into 2nd gear at around 18-20 mph when gradually slowing down in traffic causing the jeep to slow down quickly and throws you forward. If you catch it during its shift (which is longer than any other gear) it will slam into 2nd and then back into 3rd gear. You lose power as it takes several seconds to complete the shifting. -The gear I feel should smoothly shift into and out of 2nd at around 15 mph, like it does in the cars I rented. oDoes the shift timing need to be remapped or reset? Software update: -The software update pushed on the home screen several weeks ago to update the camera, and some other items has caused my gauge cluster to flash a lot when using C

On three occurrences I was driving my vehicle and it suddenly and abruptly stopped in the middle of traffic. The entire vehicle shut down and would not drive or move forward. It was terrifying as on one of the occasions I had my son with me and he was slammed back into the seat. We have reached out to the dealership who insists there is nothing wrong with the vehicle. It is a safety hazard and we are lucky that my family and no one else has been harmed or seriously injured because of these incidents. We don’t know what to do as Jeep is taking no responsibility and we are afraid to drive the vehicle as it is a ticking time bomb. There is a recall for this issue on different year models but the dealer will not acknowledge that there could be any problem. The service light has been on and off intermittently.

I had just left my home and got up to about 20-25 MPH when my Jeep Wrangler Willy’s 4XE suddenly and abruptly came to a full stop causing the tires to lock up as well and screech to a stop then it shut down and I had to restart it. It jolted my upper body and head forward and could’ve been much more dangerous if I were on a busy road or if anyone were driving behind me. I took it to my local dealership and they were able to recreate the issue after driving it and it shut off just as it did for me. They brought it in and seem to have primarily done some software update but didn’t express much confidence in the repair. They just said there were no DCT’s but there was some software updates and that should fix it. They also claimed there were no recalls present on the vehicle which is even more scary. So the only way there fixing this if they even are fixing it is it already happened to you and put you in danger.

Upon reaching about 60 MPH on the freeway, the vehicle suddenly began to shake violently, severely reducing my ability to steer and control the vehicle. After quickly (and dangerously) reducing my speed, it stopped, but it occurred again two more times. I pulled over and turned the car off, did a quick inspection and found nothing out of order. When I resumed my trip, the problem did not occur again. After getting home, I searched the Internet and found out that my Jeep suffered from what is called the "Death Wobble". Apparently, Jeep has known about the problem for years and has not corrected this dangerous and scary defect.

We have a 4xe jeep wrangler Rubicon X that we purchased for $70,000. We purchased this vehicle to take advantage of the hybrid features, only to later find out that these batteries that are installed in these vehicles have the potential to explode, and cause massive property damage. This is a total defect from the manufacturer and as a consumer I should not have to make financial sacrifices to trade in a vehicle that's 8 months old that's significantly decreased in value by over 30k in such a short time period. Jeep, Stellantis, and the dealerships need to stop selling these hazardous vehicles and make this right to their consumers. I would like to resolve this matter now before seeking legal counsel on my behalf.

I went to drive it today and it had a full charge. Drove it to my office and put it on charge. Went to go home for lunch and it did not charge, but I had fuel and would figure it out later. Was driving on a 4 lane highway and a turtle popped up on the screen saying it was going to slow mode and turned off 5 seconds later going 55 mph. Had a message on the display saying put in in park, foot on the brake and press the start button. After I drifted to the redlight I did that and nothing. The EV battery was dead, I had 1/8 tank of fuel and would not even try to start. Just sitting at a light at a busy intersection. After 10 minutes and a green light I pushed the start button again and it moved about 15' to right in the middle of the intersection and did it again. All dash lights we on and the message saying press brake, put it in park and start it but literally nothing happens. Luckily a tow truck driver was in another lane and he knew how to pop a cover by the shifter to pull a strap that puts it in neutral as long as the strap is being pulled. So he was able to push me to the side of the road. I was only 1/4 mile away from my office, so I towed it back with another vehicle and put it on charge. Lights came on saying charging system failure, check charger. I called roadside and they towed it to the dealer and I included the charger. [XXX] driving car that we have owned for approximately 2 months 280 miles on busy road 4 way intersection at light stopped waiting for the turn left when car jolts as though we were rear ended but not. Then stops completely and shuts down with no indication of what is happening. Put hazard lights on trying ro get some control of car the system shut down and appeared to reboot taking 10 minutes. Very scary situation fortunately we were not in a high speed . Luckily the car started but now had an engine light on. Made it home contacted Arrigo dealer in West palm , fl but no calls back. Contacted the service department the next day 11/11/24 . They ran tests and said it needed a software update. Not sure why there was no notification and car dangerously shuts down. Picked up car on 11/12/24 to have Juan Gascon assure us it will not happen again. Not feeling great after reading info online. They did send a video from service had trouble uploading. On three occasions so far in this vehicle with fewer than 3,000 miles I have experienced the “death wobble” after going over a bump on a highway at highway speeds. The intense shaking of the vehicle persists until I am able to slow down to below 50mph or so. The incidents have taken place on [XXX] (twice on [XXX] driving North from Cupertino) and on [XXX] driving in Napa on [XXX] towards Yountville. I will be taking the vehicle in for service on 11/12/24 at Putnam Chrysler in Burlingame CA INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Power Train

While driving in electric mode, sometimes I would lose power. One example is on the freeway while cruising at freeway speeds. I noticed my speed decreases and i have to press the accelerator pedal more than normal. Even after depressing it more than normal, the gauge on the battery power wont move and the speed continues to decrease (charge level can be at 50%, 80%, or lower). It also happens to me after stops at stop sign or intersection. When in EV mode, my light would turn green or its clear to continue into the intersection, the vehicle will barely creep out of a stop to the point that I would almost get t-boned at a T intersection. I have to floor the accelerator down to the floor in order to get the gas engine to turn on (while in EV mode with adequate charge on battery) and violently push me forward. Happens a few times a week both on highway or intersections.

When traveling on the highway if you switch lanes or hit a bump, the jeep shakes violently and you have to hit your brakes to make it stop. A rented vehicle of the same make model and year had the same issue for family members in September of 2024. We have been taking video, took it to jeep and the tech took it for a 3 mile ride (non highway) and said nothing is wrong but they recommended a dampener or stabilizers, but this jeep is $1100/month and brand new. There are no warnings, and the shaking is absolutely hard to control. Less than 10,000 miles and it’s a safety concern for any jeep on the highways. It’s dangerous for all vehicles to be around the jeep when it begins shaking. All we can do for now, unless we wreck, is video it’s issue. We have traveled from Kansas to Washington and are almost back to Kansas, but the issue has gotten more dangerous as we have traveled. It feels like the wheels will actually fall off the arms of the jeep. It’s incredibly scary. Video not an option to upload below, but we can get info from jeep tech showing we told them the issue. The jeep is available for inspection and the issue will not stop, it’s a constant and there’s no way this is normal.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
