Defect. Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2017-2018 Jeep Renegade 4X2 flex fuel/E85 vehicles equipped with a 2.4L engine. In certain operating conditions such as high power demand in conjunction with high altitude and/or high ambient temperatures, a manufacturing error in the fuel pump assembly may result in a loss of fuel pressure.

Risk. A loss of fuel pressure can cause a stall, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel pump, free of charge. The recall began April 26, 2019. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is UB2.

Defect. Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2017 Jeep Renegade vehicles equipped with a 2.4L engine. These vehicles may be equipped with a cracked oil pump housing/balance shaft module (BSM), which can cause the oil pump to fail and the engine to stall.

Risk. An engine stall can increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the oil pump for its production information, and replace the BSM as necessary, free of charge. The recall began March 13, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is U18.

Defect. Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2017 Jeep Renegade vehicles. Due to a software issue, multiple malfunction indicator lamps may illuminate on the instrument panel when no malfunction exists. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 101, "Control and Displays."

Risk. If the malfunction indicator lamps illuminate at incorrect times, the driver may be unaware when a true malfunction occurs, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will update the Instrument Panel Control software, free of charge. The recall began on September 14, 2017. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is T50.

Water Quality When Mixed With Engine Coolant

Everything with this car had been running fine. Regular maintenance. With absolutely no warning, as I was leaving a parking lot, the engine literally exploded. There are pieces of it that have been documented by the mechanics that looked at it. Thankfully I wasn't on a highway, or this could have seriously hurt people. This specific engine has a class action lawsuit against it and now i do not know what to do.

This vehicle suffers from a severe, documented manufacturing defect where the engine silently and rapidly consumes motor oil without leaving any puddles on the ground. The vehicle recently consumed all of its oil down to a completely dry dipstick between routine service intervals, presenting a critical engine-stalling hazard while driving at highway speeds. Sudden engine stalling on a major highway creates an immediate risk of a severe rear-end collision and compromises power steering and braking controls, presenting an extreme safety risk for my daughter who operates the vehicle. The manufacturer officially acknowledged this defect via the XB1 Warranty Extension Campaign. However, my local dealership and Stellantis corporate customer care have refused to honor the safety tracking or engine repair, claiming the vehicle has aged out of a strict 7-year calendar restriction. The official manufacturer portal still explicitly tracks this VIN as having an active, open campaign status reading: "INCOMPLETE BUT REPAIR PARTS ARE AVAILABLE." The manufacturer is actively refusing to remedy a verified, live defect campaign on a vehicle with only 71,000 miles, leaving an unsafe and stalling-prone vehicle on public roads. I am requesting a federal safety investigation into Stellantis's refusal to honor open oil-consumption defect campaigns.

Malfunction indicator lamps illuminating incorrectly.

Under normal driving conditions, coolant rapidly started leaking from the engine, and vehicle started overheating. UNKNOWN component failure, vehicle is currently at an independent service station. No warnings prior to overheating.

The contact owns a 2017 Jeep Renegade. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the message "Left Brake Light Failure" was displayed. The contact disassembled the rear driver's side brake light and discovered that the wiring harness, turn signal, and brake light were melted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 122,000.

Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2017 Jeep Renegade. The contact stated that while attempting to register the vehicle, the title was retrieved from inside the glovebox, and the contact discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a private sale through Facebook Marketplace. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 56,327, and at the time of registration, it was discovered that the mileage was 243,000.

I am reporting a safety concern involving a 2017 Jeep Renegade, VIN ZACCJAAB5HPE81627. The vehicle was purchased used on May 22, 2026 at approximately 89,055 miles and began experiencing problems almost immediately. On May 27, only five days and approximately 96 miles after purchase, a diagnostic showed Check Engine FAIL with codes P0128 and P0456. On May 28, the selling dealership advised that the vehicle needed a thermostat and had an EVAP code requiring further diagnosis. On June 5, another diagnostic again showed Check Engine FAIL and identified an EVAP-related issue. The vehicle also had safety recall UB2/NHTSA Campaign 18V731000 involving the fuel-pump assembly. The recall addresses a condition in which loss of fuel pressure may cause the engine to stall and increase crash risk. The fuel-pump-module recall repair was performed at a Jeep dealership in June 2026. Problems continued after that service. On July 25, another diagnostic showed Check Engine FAIL with codes P0172, P0455 and P0456. On July 31, the vehicle SHUT DOWN WHILE BEING DRIVEN and was stuttering on the way to the repair facility. The service record specifically documents the complaint that the vehicle “shut down while driving” and was “stuttering on way here.” The vehicle has also experienced recurring starting difficulty, particularly after refueling, and repeated check-engine warnings. This vehicle’s windows dull out and side mirrors get brown and orange spots on them. Seat Belts won’t hold your seat belt and can sometimes pop out while going down the road. It sets off the seat belt alarm and you have to keep trying to get it back in. There’s a Recall for some 2017 models, but this one doesn’t fall under the recall but has the same issues for the Engine cooling fan. Electric cooling fan won’t spin and causes the car to use up coolant and overheat. This also messes with your air conditioner and causes the inside of your car to get hot as it can only blow warm air. (Injury)The plastic for the hood prop rod easily falls off and is a safety issue when you are working under the hood as the hood can fall onto your head when this plastic piece falls off. The gear shit stops working and won’t go into reverse. The parking brake pull button is located next to the cup holders and at high risk for electric damage if the cups in the cup holder leak or have condensation and leak into that parking brake pull switch. If the battery dies, and you quickly need to move the car off of a busy highway or train track, you have to take off the entire piece of the gear shift and find something small enough to fit into the hole to pop the car into neutral or reverse. This is a huge safety risk and takes too much time in high risk areas!!

I am reporting a safety issue with my 2017 Jeep Renegade. Since approximately 2022, my vehicle has repeatedly stalled while I am driving. When this happens, the battery light and multiple warning lights come on across the dashboard. Messages such as "Shift to Park" appear, the steering becomes very difficult to control, and the brakes become hard to use. This creates a dangerous situation because the vehicle loses power while I am operating it on public roads. After the vehicle stalls, it often struggles to restart and may require multiple attempts before starting again. The problem has occurred on numerous occasions and has continued despite multiple repair attempts. I have replaced approximately five alternators and three batteries, but the problem continues. I also maintain my vehicle regularly and receive routine oil changes. When I contacted Jeep regarding this issue, I was told that a low oil condition could cause the vehicle to shut off. However, I advised that my vehicle receives regular maintenance and that the oil level was not low when these incidents occurred. The ongoing stalling issue has caused me significant concern because it affects my ability to safely steer and stop the vehicle. I believe this condition presents a safety hazard to myself, my passengers, and others on the road. I am requesting that this issue be investigated. Honestly there are so so many problems that have occurred and all under 40,000-50,000 miles! Two recalled radiators and i know its having oberheating isuuses ahain . My car literaly got so hot it slpikt4my batery and the battery aciid smoke filled the eniter cabin are of the vehicle my kids and i in car . The back windshield exploded into spider webs type breaks randomly absolutely i have eye witnesses other than my own word as welll. There is ,more but its enough i think for now. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle remained at the dealer unrepaired. The contact stated that the engine block on the vehicle was serviced in 2020 under an undisclosed recall. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.

Driving turned, left in the vehicle paused like the engine paused yesterday and this morning I turned right in my engine stalled out completely turned off. It was hard to get it. Restarted again. I had codes run on it and the battery was fine. It finally started again after

While driving in traffIc on the freeway, my car began to shake, like driving was a struggle. Then, the car stalled and stopped working, with the display still lit and the car still in Drive. Traffic was moving at about 15 miles per hour. I had to hold the brakes to prevent my car from rolling backwards into the cars behind me. I shifted the car into Park. I turned the car off and back on, and it jolted into movement again. This stall lasted for about 30 seconds. A second attempt at restarting the car got it turn back on. No warning signs were displayed alerting me to a problem. My car was recently tuned up and no problems were reported. From research, the issue seems consistent with a fuel pump malfunction.

It began with vehicle warning lights, several, illuminating. They did not illuminate at exactly the same time (such as when a car stalls) they illuminated consecutively i.e Airbag disabled, followed by, blind spot sensors unavailable, front collision, lane departure, power steering temporarily unavailable, park assist, lane departure... all unavailable. Finally, the check engine light. Driving 65 mph until the transmission decided to no longer shift properly, which resulted in driving 45 in an 70 mph zone. Turned off vehicle and restarted, it was fine for 50 miles and began the dashboard light show again, followed by almost stalling at a toll booth. It has been "repaired" 3 times in 3 months, by Chrysler Jeep . Including a new BCM. I believe this 2017 Renegade either was not recalled during the original recall in 2017 or 2018, was not repaired, or was repaired improperly. Everything else operates properly. My vehicle is in great shape. I have video documentation of these things happening. No photos though. I do have documentation from Chrysler Jeep, just not with me at the moment.

Catalytic Converter. Part was recalled on the same engine but cuts off at 2016, however, my 2017 has the exact same engine and exact same issue as the recall issued to prior years. The problem has been confirmed by a dealership and mechanic. I have had a check engine light on to notify me of this error.

While adjusting the driver seat, the seat's side airbag deployed.

The water line for the windshield washer reservoir running to back windshield is bundled with the electrical cables and is made out of plastic not rubber leaks inside car back passanger floor. I went online and noticed several people complaining about the same issue. Line is in a hard to reach place to replace, think manufacturer of vehicle should replace for using inferior parts and bundling it with electrical wires that my cause a short. Fan blade detached from fan motor

While accelerating on freeway, engine suddenly turned off. Fuel pump went out, and I had to coast to safety avoiding traffic. Having to move lanes into the shoulder was incredibly scary once my momentum dropped to 15mph on a freeway alongside cars going 85+. It almost caused 2 separate accidents where others had to slam on their brakes. I noticed other renegades have recalls for this, I’m curious why mine does not when I enter in the vin?

While driving my car, all of a sudden all my icons on my dashboard will light up. My car will die in the middle of driving it and once I put it in park it won't restart. Also when driving it seems like not enough gas is going through to get it to move. I can be driving my car for 15 to 20 minutes and all of a sudden it dies in the middle of the road. This is the 3rd time it has happened to me since owning it all withing the last year.. It is unsafe for me to have my car die in the middle of the road while traffic is all around me. Something is absolutely wrong with my car. Yet I put in my vin for my particular car and it doesn't show a recall but on the 2017 Jeep Renegades there have been recalls for fuel pumps electrical and not enough fuel pressure.

The car keeps shutting off while driving. Had to replace battery twice in the last few months. Also had relays replaced. Problem keeps happening. Something is draining the battery. I read there were problems with this make and model where even when the vehicle is shut off, certain connections remain active and drains. Shutting down with no warning while driving is very unsafe.

The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, at an altitude of 10,000 ft., the vehicle experienced a loss of automotive power before the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that there were construction barriers on the road, and the contact was not able to get to the side of the road. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the cause of the failure could not be determined. The contact stated that the failure had occurred approximately seven times. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was informed that a diagnostic test was needed. The contact declined and stated that the failure occurred while the temperature outside was high and hot, and the vehicle was driven on a steep hill. Upon further investigation, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V731000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact to have the dealer check the Flex Fuel/E85 system. The manufacturer advised the contact to have the dealer open a star case. The failure mileage was unknown.

I was driving down the road and my latched my sky roof panel flew up in the air while I was driving. Thankfully it stayed attached to the latch and I pulled off the road quickly so the entire panel did not fly off into traffic. I was also only driving 35 miles per hour so that helped too.

ABS system issues: all warning lights come on - abs, traction control, parking brake (the yellow light as well as the red one. Red comes on an flashes then goes off), hill start, ect... Had codes ran that came back with several ABS related codes as well as engine codes leading back to the ABS system. Came up with right rear tone ring needs replaced. This is likely untrue as the lights come on and off leading me to believe it is more likely an issues with the speed sensor. This safety risk with this is that when the lights are on there is no traction control leading to it locking up an sliding even at low speed (few miles per hour when stopping at bottom of dirt/gravel drive way). There is also a power change lasting a few seconds while driving when the lights do go out. I have also had only a few times where the parking brake (E brake) will come on and stop me immediately when I first start to move forward.

Vehicle Safety Complaint Report: 2017 Jeep Renegade Latitude The sunroof assembly failed. The entire unit appears to be permanently bonded to the roof, rather than designed for modular replacement. This design flaw makes the issue unserviceable without replacing the entire roof structure. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The sunroof will not close, which: -Makes the vehicle unfit for safe driving in any weather condition. -Increases the risk of loose objects being sucked out at high speeds, potentially striking other vehicles or pedestrians. -Leaves the interior exposed to rain or wind, reducing driver visibility and focus. -Weakens the structural integrity of the roof in the event of a rollover Presents a theft and vandalism risk due to an unsecured vehicle. This vehicle has a double sunroof, meaning nearly the entire roof is compromised when the system fails. The exposure affects both front and rear passengers, greatly increasing risk for everyone inside and for other drivers on the road. A service center confirmed that the sunroof cannot be simply repaired or replaced because it is glued into the roof. They explained that repair would require replacing the entire roof, which is thousands of dollars and not covered by any active recall or warranty. The issue has been reviewed by a service technician. At this time, the manufacturer has not formally inspected it, but the vehicle is available for inspection. There were no warning lamps or alerts. Random warning messages and lights. Power steering fails, as does the power brakes. Usually, as I'm driving, it begins with airbag warning message. Then, the warning messages increase: Front collision, lane departure, blind spot, brake, power steering. While all of these things are happening I hear my doors lock, and unlock. Finally, I lose my power steering, and power brakes, like what would happen if the car has stalled. However, it is still running. Recently, after losing the power steering and brakes, I stopped and with the car still running, I could not put up my windows.

There are open recalls on the issues I have with my vehicle but it says my car isn’t one of them but it’s having the problems

Something shot out of the engine and caused a large hole the car never overheated and oil changes were done properly. The dealership says sometimes these things just happen and is unable to tell me what shot through the engine.

While driving, the Service Engine warning came on and was followed by the Coolant Temperature High Warning roughly 5 minutes after. The somewhat cool air coming out turned hot, even with the settings set to Max Cool Air. Turned the vehicle off and found the engine code P0481 Fan 2 Control Circuit, I allowed the car to cool before checking fuses for the Cooling Fan. The F07 Engine Cooling Fan had a 40 Amp Fuse that was blown (Note: the owner manual states the 40 Amp fuse is for the 1.4 without A/C, the 50 Amp Red was required for a 1.4 with A/C and all 2.4 models). A new 50 Amp Maxi Fuse was installed and the car A/C cooled down for approximately 15 minutes. Then the coolant temperature started to rise again and white/grey smoke came out from under the hood. Thankfully I was able to find a safe place to stop my car, but I was driving with smoke obscuring my vision which was a serious safety issue that would have caused an accident especially if I had made it on the highway. The cooling fan was shaking and very noisy even as the car was turned off. After cooling down, the fuse was checked again and verified okay. So the cooling fan was replaced. Upon replacement, the A/C and coolant temperature were normal. But the service engine light remained and the code P0481 refused to clear. Currently monitoring the coolant temperature and new fan.

Factory settings for rear passenger window provide too much lift to window which place increase stress on weather stripping. Over time, weather stripping can break and compromise the door's electrical system. It also impairs how door closes leading to increased stress on the door pillar which can give way and break. This leads to further risk of compromise of electrical systems as well as body component as it may change the vehicle's dynamics.

Jeep renegade 2017 fuel pump recall fail. Check engine light on after the recall. diagnostic shows evap leak from the fuel pump assembly. Dealership refuse to hold responsibility of the recall. It has been 5 months already. Tech smells gasoline from the backseat and it is a fire hazard.

Cracked oil pump housing/balance shaft module (BSM). The checking engine light came on, and the system requested an oil change after only 3k from the last oil change. I brought it to the mechanic, and the oil was refilled, and the checking engine light turned off. The vehicle keeps asking for an oil change. I opened the hood, and oil was splashed all over, leaving oil stains on the inside of the hood, hoses and surrounding surfaces.

While driving, my Jeep has shut off multiple times. When it comes back on it just says “service power steering” and doesn’t have anything come up when diagnosing.

My car continues to shut off while you're driving down the road.Then it won't start for a little bit!

My jeep often times has a jerking motion to it and dealer has no idea why. Others have this same problem

Unknown this vehicle shuts off while in drive when it says it needs an oil change or if the oil is low. It doesn't even give you the warning before, it just shuts off while your driving. This has happened to me many times where I've almost been in an accident. Most recently today when in my kids school drop off line. It just completely shut.

My grandfather has own he renegade since it came out in 2017. it has had nothing but issues most of which as his granddaughter i had fixed. but the last at least year I've had his vehicle illuminate a check engine light. Especially in very wet weather, cold or hot weather. If it's a normal 65-degree days for a few days, it will go off. it's a very intermittent light. that you have to catch. Taken to AutoZone, dealership, etc. It's a P0420 code which is failed catalytic converter. called and spoke to Stellantis, Mopar customer service multiple times. it's not an issue they refuse to acknowledge. also pricing for a catalytic converter isn't possible. because the only available ones are on back order hard.

The rear windows do not properly stop causing damage to the rubber window/door frame. When put up, they pass through the insert ripping the rubber trim. This also causes a space in the bottom of the window a child can stick their finger through. If not aware, when the window is lowered a finger can be severely broken

Engine malfunction with unpredictable times of hard shift jolting. It's a concern while driving and frightened when it happens. Not sure if this could get worse and could be a safety risk. Took to a dealer. Did not act up when they checked it. It has to be driven all the time to catch when it decides to act up. Happens between 2 to 3 and down from 4th to 3rd gear. No engine light indicates a problem. When I had other things fixed, I had mechanic to check it out. Invoice mentioned what was fixed but nothing stating about them running a test on what I have additionally been experiencing with the jolt as it shifts since it didn't do it at the time. Had transmission flushed hoping it would help but still does it.

I was traveling on the highway at approximately 65mph at rush hour and my vehicle's accelerator stopped working, therefore rapidly slowing down my vehicle without any messages or notifications as to why. I barely got my car to the shoulder of the highway before the accelerator became completely firm and would not allow my car to move forward any further. This happened in a span of a few seconds. Before putting my car in park, it said I needed to put it in park and depress the brake in order to shift into drive. This is the 2nd time my car has become disabled abruptly on the highway and thr first time it was taken to the jeep dealership where they said it was a fuel pump and electrical system and that my car ran out of gas without it showing I was on empty. The gauge read just short of the empty mark both times before becoming disabled but the light never came on saying I was almost out of gas.

The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic but was not diagnosed. The repair was pending. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V131000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.

The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, there were severe misfires in the engine which could be associated with the vehicle jerking, and then jolting forward while going uphill. The check engine warning light had been illuminated for almost a year and the oil light was frequently illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing excessive oil consumption. The vehicle was driven to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with ignition cylinder compression failure, and the engine consuming an excessive amount of oil. The local dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not repaired because the vehicle was not under recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 119,747.

Gas pump keeps shutting off every 2 second. It is only 2017 model with 59000 mileage, and I can't even pass the smog check. I feel like I should report this, cause major japanese car never have this kind of problem.

I have a 2017 Jeep Renegade Latitude. I bought it in 2020 and had it for 2 weeks when the engine blew up. There was a recall on the engine so Chrysler paid for the “new” engine. Two weeks after I got it back it started stalling out when I was driving down the road. I had a new starter put in it and now when it decides to shut down while driving the brakes come on, including the emergency brakes, it comes to a screeching halt, and the gear shift throws itself from drive into park. I just want to either get my car fixed or Stellantis to trade with me to make things right. It is very unsafe to drive. Especially when you don’t know when it is going to do this because it doesn’t happen every time you drive the car.

My 2017 Jeep Renegade is at a dealership for the third time. When I am accelerating at around 29 MPH, there is a sudden jerk. It also occurs around 53 MPH. It startles me every time this event occurs. Each time, I pay a deductible and the problem isn't fixed. Retirement isn't conducive to $500 repair bills. Can you help? This is definitely a problem with this model and needs to be rectified.

My oil light indicator came on month after I had my oil changed. The jeep literally shut off on me when I was driving on a MAIN road at 45 miles an hour. This happened to me 3 times yesterday I had no safe place to pull over. I was stuck in the middle of the road with hazards on hoping no one would crash into me! I looked up recalls for my jeep and there is a recall for a cracked oil component on this jeep. But it's saying no recalls on my jeep! I looked at the symptoms of it and did some research and apparently the car shutting off is a symptom of that. I bought this jeep last year and have spent hundreds of dollars trying to diagnosis the problem but always ended up with an oil change a month after I've already had one. Im terrified this will happen again.

The first generation with the 1.4l turbo engine. Had two air lines coming off of the air filter container. They are solid and break when the dealer does the courtesy check during oil changes. It is a common problem showing online and the dealers do not take responsibility for it

The contact owns a 2017 Jeep Renegade. The contact stated while driving approximately 35 MPH, the air bag, Emergency Brake, and several other unknown warning lights intermittently illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the front driver’s side buckle switch and the front passenger’s side buckle switch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not under recall. The failure mileage was 119,283.

AC wasn’t working properly, replaced parts not working. Fan stopped working and removed fuse box and it worked bad wiring harness affecting all electrical, fire hazard, dealership would rather keep it than me driving because of fire or meltdown situation. Says part to repair has been discontinued. Why? Engine hesitation, transmission when driving with jerk and almost causing vehicle to stop
