Grandfather bought the car for me in December 2024. It was sold and wasn’t told there were any issues with the car. It was bought in Texas. I drove it to Colorado. Two and a half weeks into driving the car, it was leaking a lot of oil. Had it looked at and was told The oil housing unit was dumping oil out of it bc it was made of plastic not aluminum. I was trying to go through extended warranty not knowing the severity of the issues of the car. I was going to have it looked at by jeep instead of Midas. They were booked out for over 2 weeks. I was trying to keep oil in the engine while waiting to get it looked at by Jeep. The engines ended up seizing on me. I had put more oil in it the day it seized up on [XXX]. I had to have it towed to pep boys just find out the engine got messed up by the crack in f he coolant and housing unit. The oil lamp came on 2 days before New Year’s Eve. I was trying to find a place to schedule to be looked at and couldn’t get it looked at until after the New Year. I had called Greg May Honda back in Texas to double check to see if they changed the oil before they sold it and said they did. I barely put over 1200 miles on the car since it was bought off the lot. I started doing research on it after the car engine seized up. Come to find out that there is a recall on the oil issue. I also found out that it would lead to the engine seizing up. I believe Pep boys might have reported the issue as of today for a safety recall on it. INFORMATION REDACTED P

The screen on the Uconnect/stereo system has de-laminated. This causes ghost touches and the screen jumps around on its own. Controls switch on their own, from media, to navigation, to climate, to controls, etc…It will also make phone calls on its own and has even dialed 911. This all happens while driving. It causes a huge distraction which is a safety issue. It also makes the whole system inoperable. Based on my research this is a very common issue with 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokees.
Dear National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, I'm writing to report a critical safety concern regarding the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee's water pump design. As an owner, I've experienced persistent coolant leaks, which I've found is a widespread issue affecting many others. This problem stems from a fundamental design flaw in the water pump, not typical wear and tear. The issue centers on a small "freeze plug" that leaks when the engine reaches operating temperature. This plug serves no apparent purpose and causes premature failures and coolant leaks across numerous vehicles. Key points: The leak occurs consistently when the engine is hot, indicating a design-related problem. This issue potentially leads to engine overheating and severe damage. It affects many vehicles, particularly those with the 3.6L V6 engine. Extensive research on online forums confirms this is a common problem. A YouTube video [XXX] ) provides insight into the issue. The creator states: "Upon digging into this a bit deeper, I don't believe it's the 'weep hole'. It's actually like a small 'freeze plug' that leaks on these pumps. If you look through the pulley at the opposite side of the aluminum freeze plug that leaks, you will see the weep hole. This 'freeze plug' that leaks serves no purpose as far as I see it. It's just like they slapped this plug in the front of the pump… and it leaks when it gets hot." Given this evidence of a design flaw and its widespread impact, I urge NHTSA to: Investigate th
UConnect screen delamination is causing "ghost touching" in system. Climate control, phone, music, vehicle controls - including air suspension settings, are all impacted depending on particular event. Some are just annoyance, some are safety concerns. Air suspension height adjustments and off road settings can be controlled in the UConnect screens. THE ONLY way to lock the air suspension for towing or jacking (tire repair, oil change, etc.) is through the UConnect screens. There are 1,000's of complaints about this system issue on Jeep forums, and I was surprised at the lack of NHTSA complaints when I logged in to see the status. I have video's of the system ghosting on several different screens on different dates if you'd like to have them please provide a link to upload or an email to send them too.
Please see ALL the reports of the same exact issue. There is an issue with the 2018 Grand Cherokee Engines. This blown head gasket is now going to cost me $13,000 to get a new engine. Every report listed in this link IS THE SAME ISSUE. Please address the issues and reimburse owners of this Jeep having to replace their engines. A recall NHTSA 20V-699 was issued on our vehicle in March 2021. This is related to a Fire Hazard. The recall repair was done and component exchanged, now 3 years later and 35,000 miles we have exactly the same issue. A cracked EGR cooler, same as previous. My concern is that the replaced part is from the same batch as originally and as such they replaced a dangerous part with another dangerous part. The dealer and FCA refuses to replace the part as they say the recall has been closed. I my opinion this Fire Hazard still exists and repair was not done with a quality product, as it is exactly the same issue. as before.
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V838000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
Radio screen delaminating and causing ghost touching. Dials unwanted phone calls. Turns the AC on when its negative outside and vice versa during the summer it was turning the heat on. Very distracting and hazardous. I have children in the vehicle and it has been a hazard multiple times.
All-wheel drive is no longer working due to messages stating "service anti-lock brake system," "service air suspension immediately," and check engine light. All lights and cautionary messages came on at the exact same moment while coming out of park over a year ago. I have had the vehicle repaired twice, and the dealership says, "It is a wiring issue," but within a month after being repaired each time, the messages and issues begin happening again.
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the air condition system independently turned on high regardless of the temperature the system was set to. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed that the U-connect entertainment center needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
The radio randomly changes every 5 seconds, the beeping will drive a person insane, blutooth will hang up or not allow me to answer or call out. The seat warmers turn on randomly as well and i’m unable to lower the temp or turn them off. A/C in the winter and heat the summer. auto start doesn’t work cuz vehicle shuts itself off after 30s - 1 min and navigation is useless cuz of this electrical gremlin. How long before it accelerates by itself or cuts the engine while I’m on the freeway. Safety HAZARD
The UConnect system has started to delaminate, causing a "ghost touch" action where various settings are being changed while driving. This includes constantly making noises as the screen is s being activated, redirecting the navigation system while driving, turning on radio randomly, changing driver and passenger seat settings, turning off defogging/defroster, making phone calls, including 411 or emergency help services, all of this while driving without any external input. It is very distracting and dangerous.
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, several unknown warning lights illuminated, and the vehicle started hesitating and then stalled. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, and the mechanic had the vehicle towed to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the throttle body needed to be replaced. The throttle body wiring was replaced, and the codes were reset. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, and it was suggested that the vehicle needed to be retested. The vehicle was repaired again. The contact stated that after retrieving the vehicle from the dealer, several unknown warning lights illuminated, and the vehicle accelerated independently while depressing the brake pedal. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled while coming to a stop. The contact made a left turn into a parking lot and the vehicle independently accelerated. The contact stopped the vehicle and had the vehicle towed back to the dealer where the vehicle was being repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The approximate failure mileage was 25,000.
2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 3.6 L V6 Engines have a high rate of having HEAD GASKET problems around 100,000 miles causing vehicle to overheat and leak liquid into the cylinders damaging the engine. Please look into this problem at dealerships around the country with this year, make and model and discover how common of an issue this is with owners.
Took my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicle in as oil was leaking badly , which could have made a dangerous situation. Was told by mechanic that my oil filter adapter had to be replaced. Was advised it was made of plastic and had cracked. The mechanic could not believe there wasn’t already a recall on this part. He replaced it with an aluminum part but this was a costly repair costing close to 1,100.00.

The failure mileage was approximately 69,000.
Hello first the vehicle is stock and only has 80k miles. the battery jumper terminals become scorching hot as I got burned by touching them when I inspected the engine area because you can smell a light burn smell. So I have had a mechanic check The vehicles battery and he told me it's getting over charged by the alternator which is is regulated by the internal computer which is extremely pricey to replace. I looked into previous recalls and chrysler had defective parts in Chrysler's recall # U87. I was told by Chrysler my vin was not effected but I feel this is in error as I'm having the exact issue in the mentioned recall.
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 45 MPH, she observed a noise that resembled air escaping from the passenger side of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the diesel particulate matter harness and exhaust manifold needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 39,000.
I am experiencing recurring issues with the Uconnect infotainment system in my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Specifically, the system consistently experiences problems with: • Station changes • Navigation functionality • Connecting calls through Bluetooth using my phone's contact list • Randomly turning the heating and air conditioning system on and off These issues occur constantly, making it difficult to utilize the Uconnect features safely and effectively. I am concerned about potential safety implications, such as distracted driving or loss of critical vehicle functions.
The EGR Valve, Diesel Particulate Filter, and Intake Manifold failed at 88k miles. The EGR was replaced at 49k miles on October 4, 2021. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for MIL. The estimated repair cost is $11k. All components are filled with carbon deposits. The emissions system should provide a longer life than 88k miles. Is there a possible design defect with the emission ?
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the START/STOP, and check engine warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that one of the spark plugs was misfiring and the ignition coils might need to be replaced. The independent mechanic requested to perform another diagnostic test on the vehicle and discovered that there was a blown head gasket and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 95,000.
UConnect Radio - Delamination resulting in unpredictable, repetitive, and erratic touches on the screen. At this point, the screen's protective layer is separating from the display and it is causing ghost touches that activate various functions without my input. This has occurred numerous times throughout my driving experiences and occurs every time I drive. It has led to multiple unsafe consequences while driving, the main concern being that it is distracting and confusing leading to unsafe driving conditions. For example, the navigation system has suddenly switched routes, diverting me unexpectedly causing confusion, and has led to multiple near accidents in busy intersections. Additionally, the volume has randomly increased or decreased, making it hard to hear important sounds from the environment, such as sirens or horns from other vehicles. Had this occurred in a moment in which I needed to react quickly an accident could have occurred or my safety could have been compromised. Moreover, if the radio has inadvertently changed to an unrecognized function—like activating the Bluetooth or starting a call—this has been distracting pulling my attention away from the road in multiple scenarios. The vehicle has made unsolicited calls to emergency personnel which is both a distraction to me and an inconvenience to emergency personnel. Overall, the delaminating screen not only complicates my driving experience but also poses a significant safety risk to myself and others on the ro
Jeep uses a transmission manufactured by ZF. Jeep claims the transmission is "filled for life" and does not require any maintenance, and never requires the oil to be changed. ZF recommends the oil be changed every 50-75,000 miles. Many other car manufacturers that utilize ZF transmissions recommend that same interval. In fact, if you push Jeep to change your transmission oil, they suggest it will void your warranty. Preventative maintenance in the form of a transmission fluid change is necessary for the health and longevity of the vehicle. Jeep is negligent in this matter. When your transmission fails, you are thrust into "limp" mode, capping your speed at 15-20 mph. This occurred to me on the highway. I narrowly avoided being rear ended in traffic traveling 65+ mph. My car has been babied, all factory recommended services have been done in a timely manner, I was not having any issues with the car at the time, and there were no symptoms, warning lights, etc at the time.
The touchscreen radio panel is delaminating and causing the system to freak out. Sometimes the radio will turn on by itself and blare out music, or all of the fans will turn on turbo at once. The navigation will freak out and turn off and it will auto-dial or auto-hang up phone calls. Sometimes when I am driving down the high way, the air or radio blasting from out of nowhere and totally unprompted will scare me and cause me to jerk the steering wheel or become significantly distract from the road. Yes, the problem has been confirmed by the dealer, and it is a known defect, but they will not take responsibility for the safety hazard or the cost of replacement. No inspection by any outside parties, yet. No warning signs.. the screen just started to melt/delaminate and then all of the ghost features began causing chaos while driving.
The number 4 and 5 cylinders warped in my 3.6 engine Cross Motors in Louisville Ky is repairing the engine
Active head restraint went off while parked in a parking lot with individual sitting in affected seat. No accident/collision happened, no warning lights or other symptoms prior.
Battery drain. Two (2) new batteries installed Aux and Main battery bought/installed February 2024. I am still having battery drainage issues.
I was driving to work with the heated seat on. I began to feel my lower back getting extremely hot. I leaned forward and when I did I could smell something burning and my back began to burn. I quickly pulled over and jumped out of the car as quickly as possibly to see that my seat had physical flame coming from it. I contacted Jeep about the situation and was ultimately told it was somehow not a manufacturing issue. In addition to the seat fire my touch screen has completely delaminated and sometimes works and sometimes doesn’t. Making it a safety hazard with the back up camera only showing when screen is operational. The screen also does things on its own. Changing radio stations, blasting radio volume, turning on/off. This is extremely distracting while driving.
There is a faulty connection so the airbags may not deploy
The screen to the radio and the navigation is delaminating. This is a safety concern as the screen is uncontrollable and can not be used. This was confirmed by a Jeep dealership. Jeep will not acknowledge the problem or repair the issue.
Touchscreen has delaminated, causing Jeep to turn vehicle AC, Heat, Radio, Audio systems on and off at random and unable to control. Vehicle has become unsafe to drive.
The glue of the dashboard has caused the leather on the dashboard to bubble on my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I brought it to the jeep dealership, and they said it happens all the time from the sun. Its a known defect, but its not covered by the extended warranty. They said they have had recalls on this in the past with other years and models, but not this year/model yet. I reached out to Jeep Cares and Chrysler, but neither will help.
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the rear glass fractured without impact. The contact's minor children were seated in the rear seat when the failure occurred. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 57,000.
This is a known jeep problem. the radio screen which controls not only the radio but other systems including ac/heat/defrost is delaminating and randomly clicks all over the screen. jeep is refusing to fix this known manufacturing defect because i am not the original owner. this is a very significant safety issue because a lot of the controls are via the screen including putting it into tow mode. it is also very distracting when driving and could lead to serious injury or death. this has been an ongoing issue since i purchased the vehicle and is getting worse. please advise.
The stereo system screen began delaminating approximately 1 year ago. The delamination causes the stereo to malfunction, make sounds, and cause a major distraction when driving. It has come to my knowledge that this is a very frequent issue in the 2018 Grand Cherokees. There were no warning messages, the screen just glitches and completely malfunctions which is making it dangerous to drive and manage simultaneously.
While driving, all the light on the dashboard come on. When this happens the speedometer is not working the windshield wipers come on. The emergency brake light is on, the car shifts out of gear and the turning signals don't work and the hazard lights won't work. This is all happening at the same time. I'm unable to inform people on the road that I'm in distress because my hazard light won't work I don't know how fast or slow I'm going. I can't inform the people on the road that I want to change lanes. Then after a while all the lights on the dashboard would go out and the check engine light would remain on for maybe two days and than go out. This problem has been going on since January I have paid thousands of dollars attempting to get this problem fixed. My car has been back and forth to the same Chrysler central Ave dealership where I purchased my 2018 jeep grand Cherokee to which I'm still paying for.
The screen that controls many of the functions in the vehicle is delaminating and from online forms I have researched this is a very common problem.
I bought a 2018 jeep grand Cherokee limited on July 1,2024. A week after owning the vehicle the jeep kept shutting off while driving on the interstate and the dash said “ put in P and push to start” none of the hazard lights came on. It just automatically shut off in the middle of traffic multiple times and when put into park and tried to restart it would take several attempts. This is unsafe and I’m lucky I did not get into an accident since the vehicle is just turning off while I’m driving on a busy highway not to mention almost getting into an accident since I’m given no warning. I dropped off my jeep at the dealership and they have had it for two weeks stating they can not find any issues with the vehicle. This is frustrating and scary and do not even feel comfortable driving a the jeep that I owned for one week. I have read several complaints in the same issue and k won’t seems to be able to find what is causing this issue.
Car dealer said that they already fixed the recalled issue. But we took car to the dealer also for car overheating in very short distances and the car only has about 67,300 miles. The dealer said that they "found stored DTC in PCM" P0304(Cylinder #4 Misfire). "There are combustion gases in cooling system." They said the car needed cylinder head replacement and engine replacement quoting me $8001.88 for repairs which I could not pay. The car has only been driven locally. We also suspect that this car may have been damaged by hurricane Michael in Florida in 2018 and damage may have not been reported. Car was bought in Florida in approx. September 2018 by owner 1 who sold the car to owner 2 with only approx. 2500mi after Hurricane Michael (Oct 9-10th). The car was sold to owner 2 in November 2018 in Florida then brought to California in 2021 and sold to owner 3 who is making this report. Or car may have already presented mechanical issues that may not been reported. Car has only been driven locally.
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while at the gas station and refueling the vehicle, the contact became aware that the pump nozzle was stopping as if the tank was full. The contact stated that fuel system warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed as a failure with the fuel tank. The contact was informed that the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHSTA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 82,000.
Tv screen delaminated on its own
Stop Start comes on and will turn the car off when stopped. I have to put the car in Park to restart the car. The deal said that there is no recall for this issue.
Air Bags Failed to Deploy During An Accident Vehicle Hit A Tree No Warning Lamps Prior To Accident Vehicle Towed Due To Damage Vehicle Deemed Totaled By Insurance Company
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at various speeds, the vehicle lost motive power intermittently. Additionally, the contact observed a burning odor inside the cabin of the vehicle. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the cam shaft, oil valve, and other unknown parts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
Car began to shake after looking under the hood found low coolant. After replacing the coolant it continued to run low only after 1 week. After second time replacing coolant engine light came on and it was taken to a mechanic who had codes come up as misfires. After replacing spark plugs and full tune up, engine light came back on. After taking it to a dealership they found a crack in the gasket at coolant passage. Car never over heated for the crack to have happened. Also seeing many other people with the same issue at the same mileage of 72k mile or less. I believe there is an issue with the head gasket.
Driving home on dark, deserted roads, my brights will not click on. When I click, nothing happens. When I hold the turner back in the mode to “flash my brights”, the bright headlights will come on. I had to drive holding this back almost an hour so I could see. I had a mechanic look and he said the switch is wired to the computer, so it is not an easy fix, but will have to go to the dealership. This is a safety issue. Dealerships are far from me and expensive. I’ve never had this issue with a vehicle before, when all lights are functioning. It should be recalled and fixed by the manufacturer.
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start-up as needed. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed as a failure with the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve. The contact was informed that the EGR valve needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 101,000.
At around 66,861 miles my car started to do a weird shaking, slowing down on highway, rattling, and missing. I brought to dealer and they stated I needed an EGR valve replacement. This was done yet the code did not reset and the problem happened again. Now, I’m told well my vehicle needs an egr cooler!??? What is this? And why was this not communicated to me before I had the work done. Also, why would this malfunction so fast. This was July 18, 2022. There are no recalls but there should be with this happening so soon? I have children and this is scary on the highway.
My jeep has stalled on me twice attempting to go through a stop sign at a busy intersection as soon as I slowed the jeep down and then accelerated to go through the stop sign it stalled on a major hwy. no lights come on and the automatic shutoff button is turned off And for the past month the jeep hasn’t started without either a jump or sitting a while after it was hooked to another vehicle.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
