Driver side head rest air bag deployed completely on its own while I was sitting at a red light. It slammed forward with such great force hitting me in the back of my head and caused a horrible headache. It is available for inspection. My safety is at risk everytime I get in my car due to the fact it is a safety feature put in place by Jeep to prevent whiplash or any type of head or neck injury. It has been confirmed by a Certified Jeep dealership that it is fact a safety feature that is now inoperable. There was no warning lights prior to and at this time no lights or messages have appeared.
Car shut down and engine stalled while driving. I coasted to a stop in the middle of traffic. Car would not restart. Had to get towed home. There are two open recalls on this vehicle- one for fuel pump and one for tone wheel. The dealers say they can’t fix it because no parts are available. This is unacceptable. One recall has been issued over a year ago. This is my primary vehicle. I have already had to borrow a family members vehicle for weeks now. I cannot wait months hoping for parts to become available. I need recall work to be performed now or at least a temporary fix to get me back on the road.
We reached to the back seat and heard a pop and then the head rest popped out of place and won’t go back. I’ve seen numerous other reviews about this situation of their headrest popping out. This should be covered by warranty and recalled to have the headrests fixed
The Active head restraint on the passenger side deployed. The vehicle was brought to the dealer and confirmed the restraint had deployed. If this happened on the driver's side I could have had an accident. As it was it scared me and I swerved. There was no warning! I know there was an extended warranty issued but it has expired and the problem still exists regardless!
We were trying to pull onto the highway and it wouldn't move and started making a godawful sound. We got it towed to a dealership who looked at it and said that the splines for the driveshaft between the transfer case and front differential were shot and also between the transfer case and the transmission. I found where this has been an issue with the Jeep Cherokees, but wondering if it a problem also with the Grand Cherokees.
Safety recall Z46 has been published for over a year and Jeep keeps telling me they cannot get parts. My fuel pump started making a loud ticking noise and I needed to make a 2000 mile trip to western states where support is not readily available. I checked and had no problem finding parts to complete the recall. I contacted Jeep customer care and they authorized me to buy the parts and have the work completed at a Jeep dealership then apply fur the reimbursement. I bought a fuel pump, had the work completed, and applied did reimbursement but Jeep customer care will not pay for the recall work or part as the pump had not failed. I believe that Jeep is stalling the completion of this recall hoping that there will be fewer still in service once they do start the work. I found parts available from over 10 different sources and it took only 3 days to get them. Jeep is making a mockery of the safety recall process and putting customers and their families at risk.
RECALL #22V-406 Has not been replaced the part has been failing for the last 2.5 years. The stalling situation is getting worse. It does not come to a complete stall at least not while in traffic but it will start to stall and cough and sputter while under power at residential speed of 30-35 mph, city driving of 40 -50 mph, and at highway speeds of 70-75 mph. It is increasingly getting worse. We have taken the vehicle to multiple dealers only to be told that the needed repair has still not been developed yet. (the repair is to replace the HPFP before my wife and grandkids get ran over on the highway or coming out of the local grocery stores parking lot). The problem has been identified and the repair to the problem has been realized, but the manufacturer will not commit to the repair. How many people will have to be maimed or die because of this. Yes the problem has been reproduced and the manufacturer and the dealerships are aware of it. One Service Manager reported to us that he has a new truck on their lot that can not be sold because of this very issue. there is no MIL code for the decaying of the fuel system rail. Other codes can be thrown as a result but here is no standard code for it.

I have a 2014 keep grand Cherokee. The car has made shifting noises and changed gears. The sensor goes on and then comes off.The car had suddenly lost power and then it makes a clinking sound and goes back to gear.. I was on the highway when this happened and almost got into a crash. This vehicle is not used often and well maintained.I took it to be checked from diagnostic and it read codes about a module and defective cranks. The shop informed me that many people were having the same issues and that there was a recall due to this. That the crank shift position was defective and causing transmission issues as well.He also stated that recalls for software issue that needed to be updated which many 2014 jeeps had the same issues. I called Chrysler to find out about the recalls and they stated that there were2014recalls for this but not my vin number.I informed them that I believe my car was also in need of this recall and defective parts because many of the things that were happening were the same as the recall and the model. They said they couldn’t help me and to take it to keep to be checked. I made an appointment and told Chrysler that the problems what the shop said about recalls and it software update. They stated that this has been happening but since my vin was not recalled yet that I would have to cover whatever cost to be fixed.I paid for it to be evaluated by them and they stated it is going to cost 8000 to repair because of the shift and it has a transmission replacement.
My JGC 2014. I was on a 5 lane interstate in the far left lane when my car started decelerating at a speed of 64mph. As I was merging into the left emergency lane it switched into neutral gear. I then proceeded to stop and put the Jeep into park and turn it off. Prior to this incident my check engine light had just illuminated a month prior and I ran a diagnostic computer test and it returned stating it was an EVAP problem. I haven’t had any systems. So I was waiting on my first check to get it taking care of (meaning no gas smell in the cabin, no fuel leaks under vehicle, no bad gas mileage). So the police came to my rescue and helped me pull the emergency neutral pull in the middle console in order to get it off closer to the median so I wouldn’t get hit until I could get a tow. Well it wouldn’t turn over again. It sounded like I had a fuel pump problem but when I went to turn it on but not over I heard my fuel pump cut on. So no problems there! So my battery started running low in voltage so I charged it with a battery pack and it got around 13 v and I unplugged it . It’s a 14 v battery. Well I got my vehicle turned in the off position the emergency neutral gear unlocked and then my windshield wipers started and the car was not on . I heard clicking in the fuse part under the hood so I found that fuse and pulled it. I think took a fuse checker and checked every fuse in my box they all had fire. On my dash it started saying system brake suspension and the check engine light
I was driving along & all of a sudden my car under side make a funny sound and stopped moving forward. I am a single mother & I had my 4 year old son with me. I had to call a tow company & they took it to a repair shop. They charged me $100 to tell me the transmission was gone & metal pieces were in the transmission. Now I have tried to get it fixed because the rest of my car looks NEW. I REALLY TAKE CARE OF IT. But now I am told it cannot be fixed because you knew there was something wrong with this particular transmission so you no longer make the parts, so no one else can get hurt. Therefore, I have a very lovely car that I love but it will never run again. I spent over $20,000 for my car. Can you help me please.
When accelerating on to the highway the vehicle will not go above the speed you were entering the highway on. For example entering the highway at 40mph and trying to get to 65mph and it will not go. Have to release the foot from the gas and then reapply foot to gas pedal. Most recent occurrence the vehicle hesitated much long resulting in oncoming cars almost rear ending me and having to drive in the breakdown lane until it picked up speed.
I own a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5,7 summit trim, I've been experienced a very scary situation with this car on last 4 months, with no warnings this vehicle completely shuts-off, with no power, no radio, no dash lights. For few times happened on my drive way, but most the times I was on highway running between 45 to 70 mph, its come from the blue. But after the engine stops, it just restart like nothing had happened, no lights on dash no warnings. I left this truck on sandy Sansing dealer ( Milton Florida (850)6236866 like 4 times, they replace few sensors and update software on first time, but day after I was there again, and again and again. Now, they have my car o shop for over 40 days but they can find or replicate de issue, of course to replicate the issue you need to drive the car, and according with then they drove the car for 50 miles with no issues( and of course nobody wants to drive a car that can stops in any minute ). I ask the Dealer if a fuel pump could cause that, they had no clue, but they gave me a price for replace both, so at this point I'm extremely frustrate, cause I've a car with a brand new engine that always was serviced on Jeep Dealer, that I can't use and who has all technical capability is incompetent to fix. I saw lots of cases like mine on internet. I could get someone or my self kill. Any help is deeply appreciate

While approaching a intersection, the vehicles engine stalled. The vehicle shifted itself into neutral. The loss of power in neutral resulted in a loss of power steering and power braking. The vehicle had diminished controls in traffic with 3 occupants. (2 adults, 1 infant.) Vehicle was stopped using emergency brake in turn lane. Local police were required to use push bar to move vehicle due to blocking traffic. No warning or lights on dash prior to failure. Vehicle pushed to dealership. Dealership diagnosed part failure consistent with open recall. No solution from manufacturer.
My vehicle has 2 recalls on faulty parts that can cause catastrophic failure. There are no replacement parts or repairs available to owners of these cars. FCA US should have offered loaner vehicles to owners a long time ago. Instead, they indicate that they will give loaner cars once the Grand Cherokee breaks down or crashes as a result of the faulty parts. This is not acceptable. I now have a vehicle that I paid over $47,000 for that is useless and worthless - I cannot drive it knowing it could have an "unexpected loss of motive power" and I cannot sell it with 2 serious unrepairable recalls. FCA US needs to be forced to offer loaner vehicles or buy these Grand Cherokees back from owners at a fair price.
While driven the vehicle, the head of the driver front seat opened and broke where you can see the broken plastic support in the interior. After a month the head of the seat of the passenger were broke in the same way. They were open and broke and expose the interior of the head seat noticed the plastic pin support broken.,06
Jeep Grand Cherokee Engine Failure and Lack of Accountability by the Manufacturer Dear NHTSA, I am writing to bring to your attention a distressing situation regarding the Jeep Grand Cherokee and its e$th ongine issues. I have been experiencing an ongoing nightmare with my vehicle, which was supposed to be covered by a 100,000-mile engine warranty. However, after only 8,000 miles, the engine suffered a catastrophic failure, and Jeep has chosen not to take responsibility for the problem. It is evident that this engine has a significant factory defect, as my research has revealed numerous cases of the same issue. Many owners have faced similar engine failures, and it is disheartening to see that Jeep has not acknowledged this widespread problem. Compounding the issue is the lack of available spare parts for the necessary repairs. As a result, my vehicle has become inoperable, leaving me with a substantial financial burden and an unusable car. I am writing to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) with the hope that you can investigate this matter further. The safety and well-being of consumers are at stake, and it is crucial to address this issue promptly and thoroughly to prevent further incidents and ensure accountability from the manufacturer. I kindly request that the NHTSA launches an inquiry into the Jeep Grand Cherokee's engine problems, assesses the extent of the defects, and holds Jeep accountable for their failure to address these issues appropriat

Traveling on S Sterling Street in Morganton, NC on the morning of July 12, 2023. We were going speed limit20 mph on a one way street, then car made rumbling sound and accelerated on its own at approximately 60-70 mph. I put on brakes, but car did not slow down...weaved thru traffic to avoid hitting anyone..could not get car to slow down and unfortunately hit a car in front of us. All persons were taken to hospital..myself, my wife and person in the other car that was impacted. All persons suffered broken bones. Both cars were totaled. Since accident have read up on this type vehicle accelerating on its own. We were lucky no one was killed. This needs to be looked into before it takes a life.
Car has randomly turned off and not turned on. Jeep has had car for over 3 months, charged me over $4K and has yet to find a solution
We were driving on the freeway doing about 70mph when without warning the glass sunroof exploded. Not knowing what had happened we pulled over and opened the shade slider and glass rained into the vehicle. Had the shade not been closed, all the passengers would have been hit with flying glass. We did not see anything that would indicate something hit the vehicle; it seemed to just explode for no reason.
The driver's side Active Head Restraint deployed for no reason.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle suddenly shifted into neutral and lost motive power. The contact received Police assistance when the vehicle failed to immediately restart. The contact was then able to pull the vehicle to the shoulder of the roadway. The transmission and check engine warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure due to a lack of power. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V332000 (Electrical System, Vehicle Speed Control) for which the VIN was included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 176,000.
When sitting in the passenger seat while the car was parked, the active head restraint popped and hit me in the back of my head. After realizing what happens, I read about resetting this and was unable to as the plastic clips that hold the head restraint back were broken.
The left bank intake camshaft and roller rockers have failed. It has cause the check engine light to come on and go off reading a misfire in cylinder 2. After costly repairs to coil packs and plugs, Chrysler is now going to replace with a cost of $1,900.00. This is the same issue in the 2013 Jeep that Chrysler extended the warranty on and won’t do it now on this year model.
Vehicle shifts into neutral when driving down the road and then dies. There is no rhyme or reason to it. Sometimes it does it everyday, sometimes it doesn't do it for 6 days. Seems to happen within 3 to 7 miles of driving the vehicle. Took to Jeep dealer to see if they could figure it out. Over a month later and $1000.00 Jeep dealer replaced the PCM Pin (?) and checked wiring. Picked up the Jeep and 6 days later on way home from work it shifts into neutral going 58 mph down the road and stalls. 30 mins before it would start back up and allow me to drive it. Never any check engine light on, never and noises or chugging, the vehicle does this with no warning and after 5 to 30 minutes will start back up like nothing happened.
Started the car and heard a high pitched whining coming from engine compartment. Reversed the vehicle about 20-25 feet and smelled burning rubber and then smoke started coming from the engine compartment. Turned off the vehicle and opened the hood, and saw that smoke was coming from the alternator. The alternator continued to smoke for approximately 15-20 minutes. We had the vehicle towed to a mechanic as it was completely inoperable at this point, and we had to have the alternator and battery replaced, as well as a wiring harness. The replaced alternator was shown to us by the mechanic and it was black and melted in spots. This seems related to NHTSA Safety Recall T36/NHTSA 17V-435, but NHTSA site is showing no open recalls for the vehicle and Chrysler insists the vehicle is not under any recalls.
I was drive on the highway
I've been experiencing an issue with the brakes on the vehicle not operating properly since 2022. The vehicle does not brake normally, and the brake pedal must be pressed completely down to the floor, or pumped repeatedly before the vehicle begins to slow, and when it does slow, the brakes are less than responsive. There have been several instances where despite allowing extra stopping distance and pressing the brakes all the way to the floor, the vehicle does not stop normally, and I've come dangerously close to being involved in a collision as a result. I've reported these issues to Jeep in the past when the vehicle was there for service, but it was not adequately evaluated. I replaced both front and rear brake pads and rotors, only to have the issue continue. On 6/27/23 when my vehicle was in the body shop for unrelated repairs, the body shop conducted a brake diagnosis and confirmed the stiff break pedal when attempting to brake. They verified the appropriate vacuum at brake booster and vacuum sensor, and disconnected the brake booster sensor and smoke tested the brake booster to find smoke leaking into the main cabin area. They recommended replacing the brake booster assembly with water shed per TSB, and re-checking. They noted that the Vacuum brake booster has failed, and TSB is available in regards to installing water shield with new brake booster, under safety recall T59/NHTSA 17V-572. Once body work was completed, we took the vehicle to Perkins Jeep for the open reca

Recall Z46, NHTSA 22V-406 was issued a ~year back. Dealership was contacted at that time and they informed us a remedy and/or parts are not available. Now, the fuel system has failed. The failure occurred in an intersection. Vehicle was towed to a mechanic and determined it was the fuel system failure and it was under recall. Vehicle was then towed to the dealership. One year later there is still no remedy and/or parts available. Mopar was contacted and they informed me there is no remedy and/or parts are not available. 1 YEAR IS UNREASONABLE. The last recall W79, NHTSA 20V699 was handled the same way. We made the repairs ourselves and then requested a refund which was ignored. I am assuming the newest recall 66A, NHTSA 23V-411 will be handled the same way. A quick search on the internet revealed that MOPAR parts are available to remedy the fuel issue.
My 2014 jeep cheroke limited stopped working without any prior warning. I was driving on the highway with my company children. I was going at a speed of 65 miles per hour, when it began to fail in a life, first I noticed the air conditioning stopped working, then I slowed down and stopped accelerating, I noticed that the speed changes suddenly began to change from Drive ( D) to neutral (N), and I got a picture on the dash saying I needed to check my transmission. So what I wanted was to get off the road because I was afraid that my three children were with me and I was afraid that something bad would happen, but the bad thing is that I couldn't stop, because there wasn't enough and safe space where I could stop the truck. and many cars came behind me. So I went about a half mile and was able to get off the road. It was when my truck stopped hard and put itself in Neutral (N) and didn't want to go any further. The air conditioning did not want to work either. When I got off and checked it, I noticed that my truck had oil in the back. So all I thought of was calling my husband and he went to the place where we were to pick us up. The weirdest thing that happened to me was that I never had any warning on the dash before until it started to go bad that day. My husband had checked the truck out because I was going out of state. He always did the corresponding checkups and oil changes because that is the truck that we used for my children and I. The next day we returned for the tru
This recall, campaign number 22V-406, has been open for 13 months at this point. How long is it acceptable to still be waiting on parts and a plan from Stellantis to address a potential safety issue that warranted a recall.
Jeep shifts into neutral while driving and Jeep also loses power while driving on the highway! The check engine light would come on and then go off, and stay off. Transmission or Engine possibly.
Passenger side (front) deployed randomly. There was no collision or impact when it deployed nor was there a passenger occupying it luckily.

The outstanding recalls have not be addressed despite one of them being over a year old at this time. The V46 High Pressure Fuel Pump issue is particularly worrying as not only does this pump failure result in a dangerous situation on the road but can also cause tens of thousands of dollars in engine damage as a result. The recall was issued more than one year ago and no remedy yet exists. This is not acceptable timeline. FCA & Stellantis need to either find a remedy of purchase these vehicles back at a fair price immediately as many of us are afraid to drive them with our families.
I was driving with no passenger abord and the head rest on the passenger side busted open without any cause, and I did not have any accident. Now it remains open and won't close. I was very frighten and I am scared that the same problem will happen on the drivers side, and I am very concern the airbags will active on its own. No police report was done but I have an appointment on July 7, 2023, with the dealership where I purchase the unit. This is something that needs to be addressed as a recall for safety purpose.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
