The manufacturer was contacted and stated that there was nothing that they could do because the vehicle was not under recall and referred the contact to the NHTSA for assistance. Vehicle has a slow acceleration ration. I was merging onto the Freeway and pressing on the accelerator, but it does not accelerate. It takes quite sometime to pickup speed, throttle body light has just started coming on along with the check engine light. Purchased Vehicle 8/2021, no acceleration from the beginning. Check engine and Throttle Body light 2-3 weeks ago.

Friday 06/17/22 Parked care to go to excise class for 1 hour, when returned the car was running/had been started , I thought maybe the key control hit another set of keys in my pocket however, when I arrived home, and cut car off, and went in house the car started again and this happen several times that day.06/18/22 went to Walmart and parked car, when returned to car and unlocked the car door ,the car automatically locked it self, I unlocked it and it locked itself again.then when got home locked the car and went inside the house, the car then started up and was running again. also, the Radio AM/FM stations not working , only the Sirius radio stations are.

The manufacturer informed the contact of a recall on the catalytic convertor for similar vehicles. The contact left a message for the dealer regarding the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 91,000. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired and no longer stalls.

As I was backing out of a driveway, I heard a loud pop and felt something hit me in the back of the head really hard. My headrest burst open spontaneously. I now have a bad headache and sore neck.

While driving on the highway, the electronic throttle control light suddenly flashed and the car refused to accelerate. This happened multiple times while driving so I took it to the dealership and they say the throttle body needs to be replaced for $993. Many reviews online report the same exact problem and the dealership just laughs at them and says there isn't a recall on the part. The speed limit on the road I was on was 55 mph so being shot down to 20 mph while my car jerked unexpectedly was very dangerous for me and my son in our vehicle and the cars around us. There was no warning and the car hasn't had any problems before besides a slow start about once every other month. This needs to be fixed and recalled before people end up dead.

THE JEEP WILL STALL/STOP RUNNING AT VARIOUS POINTS WHILE IN MOTION, WHEN STOPPING, WHEN STARTING. THERE IS NO RHYME OR REASON AS WHEN THIS MIGHT OCCUR. I CAN HAVE THE AC RUNNING OR NOT, THE HEATER RUNNING OR NOT. THERE IS NO MECHANICAL PROCESS THAT SHOWS ME THIS WILL HAPPEN. IT IS COMPLETELY RANDOM. I UNDERSTAND THERE WAS A REPLACED PART AS PART OF THE CHRYSLER S89 RECALL IN APRIL OF 2017, WHICH IS OUT OF WARRANTY ACCORDING TO CHRYSLER. THE PROBLEM IS STILL PERSISTING AND IS A SAFETY ISSUE FOR ME CONSIDERING IT STALLS RANDOMLY AND WHILE IN MOTION. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FROM CARMAX IN JUNE 2021 WITH NO NOTICE OF THE FORMER RECALL AND ISSUE.

I was recently driving my vehicle at a speed of 50mph when all of a sudden the engine light and the electrical light came on and I was unable to accelerate. I was able to pull over. Restart the car and get to my mechanic. A diagnostic was run and it was determined it was the throttle body actuator. I said fix the part. Apparently it is on backorder and there is nothing Jeep can to and the only way you can get one emergently, is to have your car break down The following day I was driving and my vehicle completely stopped without warning. I was able to pull over. My car was not drivable and had to be towed. I called Jeep and the service manager laughed and said the part was on backorder. My brother was able to find an aftermarket part to replace it. I filed a claim with Jeep to cover it and replace the part and they told me there is no recall and they will not do it. My car is 6 years old, which is not old for a Jeep. Upon looking on-line, this is an ongoing issue with Jeep Compasses since 2015. Jeep knows this is a SAFETY issue and they are not recalling the part. If I was on the highway when this happened, I would have been killed. There is no warning at all. You are at a speed and then the car just shuts down. There is no warning. This needs to be investigated as it is a serious safety defect with the vehicle that Jeep knows about and is refusing to put the safety of their customers first.

While driving 2016 Jeep Compass vehicle jerks suddenly and feels like it is going to stall. Nothing changes on dashboard. This happens during acceleration or even just driving down the road or highway. Took it to dealership back in 2020 and the catalytic converter was replaced. The jerking stopped until now. Took it back to same dealership and the mechanic could not duplicate the problem. No codes thrown. Even though I have many witnesses hat have been in the vehicle while it occurred. Picked jeep back up and it started jerking while driving again within a 1/2 mile of driving away from the dealership. Repair not done. Feels unsafe to drive. When I’m at a stop and I go to push the gas the vehicle stalls out, or Whalen I slow down and then push the gas to merge onto interstates/highways it completely stalls out and has potentially killed me more than once.

Engine will stall with no warning in the middle of driving it. Has happened multiple times already in the last few days.

Headrest on passenger side popped without any collision or impact. It just popped. It was very scary. I’m thankful it didn’t cause any injury to anyone. The noise was very loud and happened without warning.

This morning (08.20.21) I was driving to work when about 1 mile in I was going 45mph and my car started stalling, causing it to drop to 10mph. The engine light and traction control light are consistently on. The electronic throttle control light is constantly blinking when I have the ignition on. My car has been in limp mode all day and will not go over 10mph. I almost got hit by the car behind me when it happened and almost hit someone else trying to get out of their way. I’ve been looking into it all day and I found that there was a recall “S89” on Jeep Compass 2016 made anytime between May 9, 2016 and July 15, 2016 and which came equipped with 2.0-liter or 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engines. Mine was manufactured July 15, 2016 and is a 2.0-liter.

Vehicle loses power while driving. Has issues with steering, acceleration, brakes.

While backing out of driveway the driver side active head restraint spontaneously deployed hitting my teenager driver in the back of the head.

While driving during the work day on a busy street my Jeep Compass stalled out putting myself and others at risk of an accident. No lights or warning signs were visible on the dashboard making this a sudden and scary event. After being it to the dealership they assessed the issue as the crankshaft power sensor, after doing more research I see that this has been an issue as well as a previous recall on other 2016 Jeep Compass’ and feel that now mine should be added to the list as the safety of myself and others were put at risk as a result.

Occasionally, while driving, the vehicle will exhibit catastrophic electrical system failures. I was driving home just last night, and my headlights, turn signals, horn, windshield wipers, dash lights, hazard lights, and cruise control all turned off. I was able to limp it home with the help of someone driving in front of me, because I could not see. Imagine doing 45 mph on a turn at night, in an area with no streetlights, and all of a sudden your headlights and running lights turn off. I'm lucky I didn't hit a tree. No hazards means no one would have seen me on the road waiting for help until it was too late.

MY 2016 JEEP COMPASS KEEPS STALLING OVER THE PAST SIX MONTHS (70,000M). IT WILL NOT ACCELERATE AT TIMES AND JUST STALLS SOMETIME IN THE TOWN AND SOME TIMES ON THE INTERSATE. I HAVE HAD IT AT THE DEALER TWICE AND THEY REPLACED ANOTHER KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE THROTTLE BODY (HAD THAT REPLACED ON MY DAUGHTERS 2017 JEEP COMPASS) BUT IT STILL DIDN'T HELP THIS JEEP. REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY TWICE AND THE DEALERS ONLY SUGGESTION WAS TO SELL IT. (CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ONLY CAME ON ONCE- AND NO OTHER ALARMS BUT IN A 6 HOUR DRIVE IT HAPPENED 15-20 TIMES. FEARFUL TO PASS A CAR FOR FEAR IT MIGHT STALL AGAIN...

AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT STAYS ON

WHEN VEHICLE IS IDLING AT A STOP, PARK, GEAR SELECT IN REVERSE OR DRIVE THEN INTERMEDIATELY STALLS

I WAS DRIVING MY CAR AND I TURN ON THE "AIR CONDITIONER" I HEAR THIS AWFUL NOISE COMING OUT OF MY GLOVE BOX AREA, IT WAS SO STARTLING THAT IT TOOK MY EYES OFF THE ROAD AND I HIT A TREE. I HAVE THE SOUND COMING ON EVERY TIME I DRIVE MY CRASHED CAR.

I AM GETTING A KNOCKING SOUND COMING FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE IN THE GLOVE BOX AREA WHEN I TURN ON MY "HEATER" AND "AC" FROM THE CONTROL BUTTON IN THE DASHBOARD AREA. I AM SITTING IN THE CAR AFTER STARTING UP THE CAR AND THEN THERE IS A LOUD CONTINUAL NOISE COMING FROM THE GLOVE BOX ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF CAR. II KEPT MY JEEP COMPASS UP TODATE WITH OLL CHANGES AND BRAKES AND TIRES. I HAVE NOW EXPERINECED A REAL BAD NOISE FROM UNDER THE ENGINE. I THOUGHT IT WAS MY BRAKES OR PULLEY. IT TURNS OUT I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION. I HAVE A 5 SPEED. I HAVE METAL SHAVING IN MY TRANSMISSION AND MY CAR IS NOT EVEN 5 YEARS OLD. I LOVE MY CAR AND NOW IT IS GOING TO COST ME 4000+ TO GET IT FIXED. THERE ARE OTHER WARRANTYS ON THE SAME TYPE OF CARS BUT NOT MINES.

MY 2016 JEEP COMPASSES TRANSMISSION HAS FAILED AT 96000 MILES. IT HAS THE 2.0L I4 WITH THE CVT, ITS FWD. I WAS TRAVELING AT 35MPH WHEN IT FAILED.

I WAS GOING WEST ON FAIR VIEW AVENUE IN TUCSON, ARIZONA WHEN MY CAR SUDDENLY SHIFTED OUT OF DRIVE INTO SOMETHING BELOW DRIVE. IT STARTED SHIMMYING BACK AND FORTH AND WOULD NOT PROCEED. HOWEVER, WHEN I TURNED INTO MY GARAGE, THE GEARSHIFT SHIFTED BELOW AGAIN AND MY CAR SHIMMIED OUT OF CONTROL BACK AND FORTH AND THE RIGHT SIDE OF MY CAR WAS BADLY SCRAPED, AND THE LEFT TAILLIGHT CRACKED. SO, THE FIRST TIME I WAS BRIEFLY STATIONARY WAITING FOR THE CARS AHEAD OF ME TO MOVE, BUT THE SECOND TIME I WAS IN MOTION BUT MOVING VERY SLOWLY TO NEGOTIATE THE ENTRANCE TO THE GARAGE, SO ALMOST STATIONARY. THE GARAGE WAS NOT DAMAGED. I DO NOT HAVE A CELL PHONE THAT CAN TAKE PHOTOS AT THIS TIME, BUT I HOPE TO SECURE A CELL PHONE. MY CAR POWER TRAIN WENT OUT AS I ONLY HAVE THE CAR FOR 11 MONTHS AND TRANSMISSION IS NOT WORKING WELL I WAS DRIVING HOME AND THE CAR RPM WAS GOING TO 6

VEHICLE STALLS OUT AND LEAVES MOTORISTS STRANDED. ENGINE STALLS AND HAS THE POTENTIAL TO RESUME NORMAL POWER BUT HAS A SERIOUS LAG BETWEEN POWER GIVEN AND POWER ACCEPTED BY ENGINE (2-5 SECS). POSSIBILITY FOR COLLISION IS GREAT AND POSSIBILITY FOR BEING LEFT STRANDED IS GREAT. BATTERY AND NORMAL MAINTENANCE HAS BEEN PERFORMED.

CAR LOST POWER THREE TIMES IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS. TWICE WHILE DRIVING, ONE OF THOSE TIMES WAS ON THE HIGHWAY, AND THE THIRD TIME WHEN STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT

FOR A WHILE NOW WHEN MY CAR ACCELERATES BETWEEN 3 AND 3.5 RPMS THE THROTTLE CONTROL SENSOR GOES OFF, AND WHEN THAT HAPPENS TRACTION CONTROL TURNS OFF CHECK ENGINE LIGHT GOES ON AND I CANT GO OVER 20MPH.

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

TRANSMISSION OVER HEATS AND THEN STALLS OUT WHEN IT IS WARM OUT. THE DEALERSHIPS I HAVE GONE TO SAID THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE JEEP COMPASS BECAUSE IT DOESN'T ACT UP FOR THEM. NORMALLY MAKE IT 45 MINUTES IN SUMMER BEFORE IT OVER HEATS. CANT KEEP CAR OVER 2,000 RMP IN SUMMER OR TRANSMISSION WILL OVER HEAT EVEN FASTER. HAS BEEN HAPPENING MANY TIME OVER THE LAST 2 SUMMERS. NON-DEALERSHIPS WONT LOOK AT THE CAR AND THEY SAY THAT THE DEALERSHIPS NEED TO FIX IT.

RADIO STOPS WORKING WHEN IT WANTS AND THEN COMES BACK ON, BUT ONLY A FEW STATIONS END UP WORKING THEN AFTER. ONLY WANTS TO WORK 40% OF THE TIME. HAVE NOT BEEN TO THE DEALER SHIP YET. ALSO THE PASSENGER SEAT WHEN THERE IS AN ACTUALLY PASSENGER IN THE SEAT SAYS THERE IS NOT AND THE JEEP DINGS THE WHOLE CAR RIDE, EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE BUCKLED UP. THE CAR THINKS THAT THEY ARE NOT.

SINCE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE I'VE HAD ISSUES WITH IT MISSING, OR MISS FIRING WHILE DRIVING. IVE ALWAYS HEARD THERE WERE RECALLS FOR MY VEHICLE, BUT HAVE NOT HAD SUCCESS IN GETTING IT FIXED UNLESS I FIX SOMETHING THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN FIXED BEFORE I BOUGHT IT, AND IT'S ONLY GOTTEN WORSE. TO BE SPECIFIC, WHEN I PRESS DOWN ON THE GAS LIGHTLY IT JUMPS, SOMETIMES PRETTY HARD, IT FEELS LIKE THE GAS ISN'T FIRING WHEN I PRESS ON THE ACCELERATOR, IF I PRESS HARDER IT WORKS BETTER THOUGH. IT HAPPENS ON HIGHWAYS OR CITY STREETS, MOSTLY UNDER 60 MPH, BUT ALWAYS IN MOTION, BUT IT CAN SHAKE EVERYONE IN THE VEHICLE WHEN IT MISSES AND IT WORRIES ME THAT IT CAN BE AFFECTING THE ENGINE IN THE LONG RUN. BUT I NOTICED IT AFTER I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE FROM CARITE VERY SOON AFTER I BOUGHT IT.

ALL WARNING LIGHTS FLASHING ON AND OFF RANDOMLY AND DINGING WHILE IN MOTION. ALSO VEHICLES DOESN'T WANT TO ACCELERATE AND RPMS JUMPING UP AND DOWN.

AFTER WORK THAT DAY MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF... RPMS HAD BEEN FLUCTUATING RANDOMLY FOR ABOUT A WEEK.. GOT IN MY CAR THIS MORNING AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS BACK ON AND TRACTION CONTROL COMES AND GOES. NUMEROUS VEHICLES MADE BY FCA THAT HAVE THE 2.4 ENGINE ACROSS THE BOARD HAVE MULTIPLE THROTTLE BODY ISSUES CAUSING THIS TO HAPPEN.

THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL IS DEFUNCT AND THE CAR HAS LOW MILEAGE. I STALL OUT WHILE DRIVING!

CAR THROWING CATALYTIC CONVERTER CODE. WAS IN SHOP 3 TIMES THIS YEAR WITH ENGINE ISSUES. STALLING OUT ON ME IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE. MISFIRING ON MULTIPLE CYLINDERS. DRIVING UP HILLS OVERHEATS LOSSES POWER ONLY GOES 40 MPR UP HILLS. CUTS OUT RANDOMLY.

ALL OF MY LIGHTS CAME ON OUT OF NOWHERE THEN CAR WOULDN'T TURN BACK ON. AFTER DIAGNOSTICS IT WAS DETERMINED TO BE AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE WITH THE WIRING HARNESSES & ALSO WAS TOLD THAT THERE WERE ISSUES WITH MY AIRBAGS BEING ABLE TO PROPERLY DEPLOY. VEHICLE WAS ON. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AT ABOUT 30-40MPH. I WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO MAKE IT HOME AND BE ABLE TO PARK MY CAR AND I WAS FORTUNATE I WASN'T ON A HIGHWAY OR IT COULD HAVE BEEN A VERY DANGEROUS ACCIDENT.

I WAS DRIVING UP A MOUNTAIN HIGHWAY DOING ABOUT 55 MILES AN HOUR AND MY CAR COMPLETELY STALLED OUT. IT'S LIKE MY CAR JUST COMPLETELY SHUT OFF BUT I STILL HAD POWER. I WAS ABLE TO DRIFT OFF ONTO THE SIDE WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED MY CAR HAD JUST SHUT OFF. I TRIED RESTARTING IT THREE TIMES WITH NO SUCCESS. I WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND TRIED TO RESTART IT AND IT STARTED. I TESTED IT AND IT WAS RUNNING SO I TRIED TO GET BACK ON THE HIGHWAY WHERE IT INSTANTLY SHUT OFF AGAIN THIS TIME THE ENGINE SHUT OFF AGAIN AND I LOST CONTROL OF MY STEERING AND JUST ROLLED BACKWARDS. NO WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED BACK DOWN THE MOUNTAIN. I WOULD LIKE TO NOTE I HAD SUFFICIENT GAS AND OIL. MY CAR GETS SERVICED REGULARLY AND I'VE HAD NO OTHER ISSUES WITH IT UNTIL NOW. I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO NOTE I HAVE FOUND OTHER RECALLS ON THIS EXACT MAKE AND MODEL FOR ENGINE FAILURE! WHERE THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED TO OTHERS.
