Engine failed while driving down the highway. Vehicle was towed to local repair shop, per their report cylinder two had zero compression. This was inspected with boroscope, cylinder walls and piston looked undamaged. Cylinder leak down test showed that vehicle has blow by to the crank case indicating a piston or ring failure. Their recommendation was for new engine/long block. Per the report there are no engines available because of national shortage and backorder and no anticipated date of availability. Attached below our invoices for diagnostic testing as well as estimates or new engine or long block.

The car has been running out of coolant the past couple of months with no known visual leaking problems. I brought it to the mechanic who stated the radiator had to be replaced. No warning prior. No leaking or lights coming on. Another issue the uconnect subsystem powers on and off whenever it wants. Switches from GPS. Radio, heating and a/c. Causing distraction to the driver. I have not been able to know why it is happening. Went from several times a month to now daily.

Last week, my wife was turning left at a busy intersection and her 2019 Jeep Cherokee suddenly wouldn't accelerate, and she had to coast across 4 lanes of traffic during evening rush hour. After placing in park and shutting off to refuel, she restarted and upon putting in drive, 4WD Srv light was still on, yet this time the vehicle was able to move again. So luckily she was able to get home. Next morning, I went to take the car to local mechanic. Sitting at the end of our street and ready to turn left onto a high-traffic main road, I experienced the same condition, with 4WD Srv light, also check engine symbol indicator, and also the same error message on info screen of: "4WD Neutral Warning Vehicle May Move Even in Park." And similarly, when I tried to start pulling out with cars approaching from both directions, when taking my foot off the brake and onto the accelerator, I felt no resistance at the pedal, as RPMs increased yet the vehicle didn't move an inch. I shifted into Park, and momentarily killed the engine. Then restarted it, and once back into drive—although 4WD indicator was still on—I was able to get power to the drive wheels and was able to pull out. Seeing as my [XXX] was also in the car with me, I'm very grateful that the failure to accelerate didn't occur at the moment I would've just pulled out in front of fast-approaching traffic. I took the vehicle to a local mechanic and explained the situation. A few hours later, they called me stating the Power Train Unit

I'm the single owner of the jeep with roughly 50,000 miles on it. It has not been abused nor been in an accident. I took the jeep in for a brake job (by an ASE certified mechanic) and during the service they noted that the casting of the rear differential had failed in what appears to be a bad casting/manufacturing defect. The part that failed is what retains the seal for the differential. Had it completely let go, the fluid could have drained out causing a complete failure of the differential. Of course, depending upon when the failure were to occur, the severity risk is vast. I had it replaced to the tune of over $3,000. On-line searches indicated that this is a known issue yet I was not able to find any sign of a recall to inspect or repair. My next step is co contact Stellantis to seek restitution although I suspect that since the failure was found beyond the warranty period, that I will be unsuccessful....fingers crossed.

My engine just went out without warning. Haven’t had it for a full year and it went out. I was driving to work and my car wouldn’t go above 50 and it started to jerk so I had to pull over and it was smoking from the hood. I had oil in my vehicle so I don’t understand how this happened on a new vehicle I just purchased.

Vehicle was purchased used with an aftermarket warranty. At around 120,000 miles vehicle start stop would intermittently quit working. Vehicle has always had a gear shift hard when accelerating quickly. Currently needs an engine replacement after check engine light came on first it said the code was for auxiliary cooling system, planned to take it to get checked out the following day but while on the way there it sounded like something popped and the vehicle was running rough and when turned off didnt want to start back up. Was informed that an engine replacement was required. That would be $14000 to fix unless my warranty covers it which I am still a month later waiting for the engine to be torn down so waranty can see point of failure. It seems like 2019 Jeep Cherokees are becoming known for engine issues which is far from being fair to the typical consumer. Something needs to be done to help us out.

Hello, the 2019 Jeep Cherokee that I have has a cracked rear differential and no accident that the vehicle was in could’ve caused. I also know another person personally that has the same year make, and model as me that has the exact same problem of a cracked rear differential. Also, after talking to a mechanic in our local area, who stated he sees cracked rear differentials in Jeep Cherokees A lot more than he thinks he should and is surprised there’s no recalls on it. The safety concern has led me to decide to get rid of the car since I am concerned there should be a recall on this part of the Jeep Cherokee, but there is not, and I feel other recalls could be overlooked as well. Also, after some research online, I see there are many cases of the same cracked rear differential in the jeep Cherokee, especially in and around the year of 2019. There was no specific incident that happened to report on. I could hear a noise so we’ve had three mechanics/appraisers people look at it. All quote around $3,000 to repair. Also, all say this kind of crack is unsafe to drive.

While unloading groceries from the rear of the vehicle that was in park and turned off the vehicle started rolling backwards down the gradual slope of our driveway. Thankfully it was rolling slowly enough that I was able to grab my spouse and pull her to a safe position while we watched the vehicle roll into the street. Since then we have set the auto parking brake to engage whenever the vehicle is turned off. Recently the service 4wd light has come on. The vehicle just passed 60k miles and it appears that Jeep Cherokees have had a history of issues with their PTUs and it appears they continue to with the model we have as well.

While idling in my child's school drop off line, I was in park with car running, I stepped on the brake to put the car into gear to move forward and the car stalled and wouldn't start back up until about 1-2 minutes later. No lights were lit up once I restarted the car. This happened one other time and we thought it was the battery, but not we are rethinking it wasn't the battery.

We purchased the 2019 Jeep Cherokee new from a Jeep dealership. At 15,000 miles (approx.) the hood began to bounce up and down 1/2" to 3/4" while driving at highway speeds, driving into a wind or following a semi-truck. In addition to the obviously concern over the safety of the hood bouncing and potentially unlatching, this causes the auto start/stop function of the engine to malfunction. We had the Jeep dealership inspect the problem several times under the 36,000 mile warranty period and they adjusted the hood each time, but the hood bouncing would return in a matter of days or a week. They failed to resolve the issue under warranty. Now, we have 79,300 miles on the vehicle and the hood was inspected by a Jeep dealership and it has been adjusted to the maximum adjustment and the hood still bounces dangerously. The dealership now tells us that the panel bond in the hood is broken and has compromised the strength of the hood and that the hood should be replaced. The dealer compared our hood and latch to the hoods and latches of similar vehicles on the lot to make the determination of the broken hood bond. Jeep Consumer Care tells us that Jeep will not cover the hood replacement even though this constitutes a safety issue of the hood potentially unlatching at highway speeds. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate and implement a safety recall.

2019 Jeep Cherokee with only 35,000 miles. There was a recall previously for lateral acceleration sensors that covered over 40,000 2019 Cherokees. This vehicle is affected with the same problem, but I’m being told that because the VIN doesn’t fall in a particular range it is not covered. The repair could end up being extremely expensive due to the labor required to repair the defective sensor. The car displays multiple warnings that Electronic Stability Control and 4WD are unavailable. Codes pulled revealed one fault code, C0061 which is for the lateral acceleration sensor which also is tied into the airbag system. Recall V63 (NHTSA 19V-449) issued in August 2019 is related to this exact issue. There are numerous reports of the same problem occurring with other 2019 Jeep Cherokees on Jeep owner forums. Jeep should have expanded the recall to cover this known defect.

At 66,000 miles my 2019 Jeep Cherokee gave me a service 4WD light. The error code is related to needing to replace the PTU. This causes a huge safety issue as to when the car decides to be in 4WD or front wheel drive. I have experienced loss of directional control in light rain with normal acceleration due to this fault. I was told that this will cost around $4,000 to replace and the wait time on the manufacture part is 4-5 months out.

I was driving in city traffic and when I tried to accelerate, the Jeep would not increase in speed. It caught per se and nothing happened. Then, the Jeep started downshifting very hard upon slowing. When we went to the dealer and spoke with the technician, he immediately said that the computer needed updating. He said he's been seeing this a lot in these models. Sure enough, $300 dollars later and an upgraded computer, it is driving fine. I want to add that the dealer and service department was great, I just think this problem is somehow on Jeep's end.

The rear differential failed. Our safety was put at rick because this is what drives the rear wheels causing them to lock up and lose control. I've been advised that the cover over the rear differential is cracked and that the entire differential needs to be replaced. It seems illogical that the cover protecting a rear differential on a Jeep vehicle would be of a material that would crack when the vehicle has not been driven under extreme conditions. Both drivers have been and are currently [XXX] and have not had any citations. My residence is on a dirt road and some of my travel is on dirt roads however the appropriate care is taken. The vehicle is a 2019 with approximately 32,000 miles which indicates that the yearly mileage is low. I would appreciate consideration that the material used for the cover is faulty and that I should not be subject to the expense of replacing it and the rear differential. Fortunately it is not providing problems at this time and I have contacted the dealer to get it repaired/replaced. BUT I truly feel that this is faulty equipment on a JEEP. My family and I drove from San Antonio, TX to El Paso, TX on [XXX]. In the car were 4 passengers, including a 11 month old child. At the start of the drive, a warning message that read "4WD overheated. Temporarily unavailable" was seen. The alert showed 1 time and upon a quick search online, was seemingly insignificant. It never showed up again during the drive. We did leave around 4pm so the sun was out and hot, we believed it to be a temporary warning that would not affect our drive as we did not need 4WD during the drive. The jeep did not have a lot of miles on it and was only serviced at the dealership at appropriate windows as recommended by professionals. Once we reached El Paso, a strong smell occurred. Followed shortly by fire and flames coming from the front area, under the hood, near the engine. We pulled off to the side of the road while the flames grew bigger. The infant and all 4 adults were able to exit the vehicle timely but the fire was very large. Many onlookers stopped to check on our welfare. There was an investigation done but all that was said was that there was in fact a fire, and it did in fact start near the front of the vehicle by the engine. Chrysler said they could not determine anything further as there was damage from the fire. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

So if I don’t look or don’t hear anything then there could be an accident?? Also the tire pressure on the console doesn’t work?? If I had a flat while driving it would not tell me how low my psi is on the tire?? I could have an accident?? Also the acceleration I think is slower due to the computer error that tells me to service shifter?? I just had a new battery installed and should not have these issues due to jeep having programming issues after a new battery is installed?? I never had this problem on any car I had after a battery installation???

Failing part - 8.4" Uconnect radio/control center of the Jeep. The Uconnect system is failing and started ghosting the vehicle, changes the radio, heat and AC, turns on backup camera, calls 911, etc. This specifically becomes a when it starts calling phone numbers and turning backup camera and becomes a distraction to the driver. The problem has been confirmed as the system control panel has delaminated and needs to be replaced by a Jeep Dealer. We were advised to have a Dealer check and confirm the control panel has delaminated and confirm it needs to be replaced. We followed this guidance from Chrysler/Jeep and Uconnect and told that once we did this and they confirmed it needed replaced they would start the process to replace the control panel. There were no warning signs that this was starting and first started about 6 months ago. It has now progressed to nearly every time use the vehicle the control panel starts ghosting all the controls. We have researched and understand that this is an issue with all the Uconnect 8.4 control systems, doesn't matter which vehicle it is in.
