Defect. Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling certain 2020-2022 Jayco Precept motorhomes. The heat shield beneath the storage compartment may not be long enough, which can allow the heat from the exhaust system to melt the storage compartment.

Risk. A storage compartment that melts can increase the risk of a fire.

Remedy. Dealers will extend the heat shield, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 27, 2022. Owners may contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-283-8267.

Risk. A gas leak can increase the risk of a fire.

Remedy. Jayco will notify owners, and Dometic service centers will install a remedy kit of gaskets, washers, thread locker bolts, and two round orange labels, free of charge. Filed Oct 29, 20201,058 vehiclesJayco, Inc.

Defect. Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling certain 2020-2021 Jayco Alante, Precept, Entegra Vision, 2021 Jayco Precept Prestige, Entegra Vision XL, and Emblem motorhomes built on a Ford F-53 chassis. The engine covers may not contain sufficient heat insulation, causing the interior surface temperatures to be excessive.

Risk. Excessive surface temperatures can increase the risk of injury to the occupants.

Remedy. Jayco will notify owners, and dealers will install an additional insulation insert, and a foam seal on the outer edge of the cover, free of charge. The recall began December 28, 2020. Owners may contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-283-8267. Jayco's number for this recall is 9903527.

Filed Jun 9, 2020449 vehiclesJayco, Inc.

Defect. Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling certain 2020 Motorized Alante, Greyhawk, Melbourne, Precept, Redhawk, Seneca, Accolade, Emblem, Esteem, Odyssey, Qwest, and Vision recreational vehicles. The adhesive bond between the glass and the metal hinge frame of the frameless crank out vent and egress windows may fail which would then allow the glass to detach and fall out.

Risk. If the window glass detaches while the vehicle is moving it could become a projectile, increasing the risk of injury or a crash.

Remedy. Jayco will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the frameless windows for proper adhesive bond strength, replacing the windows as necessary, free of charge. This recall began June 15, 2020. Owners may contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-517-9137. Jayco's number for this recall is 9901508.

Steering

Gears in steering gear box must be "sloppy". Constantly needing to correct to drive a straight line down the road. I have gone to "Safety Plus Steering Control" and had them install the proper Control arm, thinking this would solve the problem. It has not. The constant correcting of the steering going down the road is tiring. I believe the gearbox is the problem. This has been a problem ever since I bought it new in 2020, and is getting worse. Thank you

Reading this record

No unusual pattern of severe incidents in the complaint record.

Complaint counts track how many cars were sold and how long they have been on the road as much as they track quality. A common model from 2013 has had a decade to accumulate reports; a rare one from last year has not. The signal worth weighing is in the severity columns, in whether the same component keeps appearing, and in whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.

Recall repairs are free for as long as the recall stands. Check whether a specific car still has open work at NHTSA's VIN lookup.
