I was driving under normal conditions and every warning indicator light and chime went off, speedometer and tachometer gauges went to zero, digital display of speedometer went blank. I immediately pulled into a parking lot and shifted into park. I called the nearest Hyundai dealer to speak to a service rep, but was told they were busy and would call back. The car would not shift, it was locked in PARK. I turned it off, waited and turned back on, all warning indicators were still flashing, but I was able to shift into drive, and went straight to the dealer. Diagnostics by dealer was that "CEL WAS ON DUE TO HISTORY CODES. CLEARED CODES AND TEST DROVE THE CAR AND EVERYTHING WORKS AS DESIGNED." 200 miles later, same problem. I will gladly make my vehicle available for inspection upon request. I searched the internet and found others were having same problem. 2015 Hyundai Sonata complaints
Owner reports filed with NHTSA about this vehicle, newest first and reproduced as filed. They are unverified accounts: one proves nothing, and a pattern across many is the thing worth reading. Back to the full 2015 record →
Steering wheel locked up while driving causing vehicle to run off the Hwy. vehicle flipped causing injuries
Steering column made gravelly noise and felt wrong after service checkup. Finally acknowledged and fixed (no charge: paid $1600 for extended warranty on purchase 5 years ago) a month later. Horn honks briefly and intermittently sometimes after stop after service checkup. Not yet acknowledged or fixed. Tried to charge an exorbitant amount for service, despite our having an extended free warranty, and refused us a loaner car. Service horrible.
Transmission shudder, reverse gear not working, stuck in 3rd gear.
The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that while driving at 45 mph, the vehicle stopped suddenly on its own and was rear ended by another vehicle. The contact was able to drive the vehicle away from the scene of the collision. There was no medical attention received. A police report was filed. The dealer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that there was no recall associated with the VIN. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened a case. The failure mileage was approximately 37,000.
I just got my 2015 Sonata Hybrid in April. Most every time I try to accelerate from a stopping point, the car will not go for at least 3 seconds. I had to sit through a whole green light once because it just wouldn't go. I've pulled out onto highways, needing to pick up speed only to not go at all causing others to nearly smash into me. Also, It can not drive up hills. Twice i have been stopped at a stop sign on a hill and my car would just not go. I had to literally put it in reverse and go back down. One time I had a line of traffic back up behind me. I didnt know what to do! The absolute worst and scariest thing is the car not going when I'm making turns. My daughter and i were almost tboned trying to make a left turn into a driveway. The car just wouldn't go. All I could do was watch this huge truck heading straight for my daughters door. Finally, seconds before we would have been hit, the car decided to gom Sickening!! I have tried everything from cutting off the Blue Drive and EV mode to using the slap stick. Nothing seems to make a difference. I have an appointment with the dealership next week.
The contact owned a 2015 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated while driving 30 mph, light gray smoke began to emit from under the hood with several unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle began to stall while the vehicle was being pulled off to the side of the roadway. The contact and two passengers inside the vehicle exited the vehicle and the smoke turned from light gray to black as the smoke became thicker. There was an abnormal popping sound before the vehicle caught on fire. The fire department was contacted and the fire was extinguished. A fire report was not filed. There was no injury sustained. The vehicle was deemed a total loss. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 85,643.
The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated while driving 40 mph, the vehicle stalled with an abnormal knocking sound coming from the engine. There was oil leaking from vehicle. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and diagnosed that the CVT transmission seal needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred on July 20, 2021. The vehicle was taken to the same local dealer but was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.
I brought car in to see about engine light they told me it was a cvvt and it would cost $1700 which I couldn't afford they stated that because I did not get my oil changed there they could not cover it even though I had prrof of my oil changes from other companies. So took car to mechanic he stated that if I did have cvvt replaced in 6 months time I would have needed a new engine anyway . So he replaced the engine . I have done my homework spoke to numerous people and they have they same issue . How does a 2015 Hyundai with 104000 miles need an engine replaced
My Sonata Eco is a 2015 model with less than 46,000 miles. I take it for scheduled maintenance at least twice every year since I purchased it. The vehicle was experiencing stuttering, vibrations and lack of acceleration, most frequently when turning, moving uphill or early after startup. The stuttering would vary in it's intensity, from barely noticeable to strong enough to shake passengers. Sometimes when performing a turn, my car would not be able to accelerate, leaving me in the path of oncoming traffic until it would start working again. This would also occur when travelling uphill. No warning lights or other messages were given by the car. After taking it to the Hyundai dealership they informed me that my transmission was faulty and would require a full replacement. They specifically mentioned it was a mechanical issue with the dual clutch not engaging properly. All electronic/software in the vehicle was confirmed by the dealership to be up-to-date so this was purely a mechanical issue.
I experienced extremely high revving at idle(about 1500 rpm to 1750 rpm). I also experienced a dangerous loss of acceleration when trying to accelerate. I would put the accelerator to the floor and it would take about 10-15 seconds to reach a safe speed on a highway on ramp. Additionally I am consuming about 1/2 quart of oil per week. I change my oil faithfully every 3-4k miles and have documentation to prove it. My oil was down 2 1/2 qts at one point which I discovered by accident via my mechanic. There was no indication of this with the low oil indicator light. I only discovered this when my check engine light came on and my mechanic investigated the code.
Engine stalled and there was a loud knocking sound. Had vehicle towed to dealer only to be told that this is a known issue with Hyundai and we need a new engine. No loaner cars available and 36 people are in front of me with the same problem. No timeframe available for a resolution. Huge inconvenience. Called Hyundai only to be told that a case manager would call me in 7-10 days. If it’s a known issue, why haven’t they recalled the affected cars like last time?
It started with the engine stalling, then a pinging noise. Then the engine stalled permanently, and the noise in the engine became louder. The engine now has no power.
The contact's boyfriend owns a 2015 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated while driving at approximately 45 mph, the moon roof detached from the assembly and shattered behind the vehicle without warning. The contact had taken the vehicle to the dealer where they informed her that vehicle was not under warranty nor recall. The contact was given an estimate for the repair. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and provided a case number. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 66,000.
Motor started stalling, and then making a pinging noise. Now the car has absolutely no power, and a louder noise coming from the engine.
It started with the engine stalling, then a pinging noise. Then the engine stalled permanently, and the noise in the engine became louder. The engine now has no power. Unfortunately I am unable to trade or sell the car. It currently holds no value, as is. I have contacted Hyundai to make them aware of this problem.
2015 sonata intermittent problem which involves loss of acceleration when taking off from a stop. One has the accelerator to the floor and vehicle goes to 10 to 12 miles/hour until it gets to about the 3rd or 4th gear. This car has done this 5-6 times since the 20th of May. Took car to dealer; they hooked it up to the computer and got no codes, so I was told it was OK. I told them the car was unsafe to drive. This car has a duel-clutch automatic transmission which I believe has a major problem. Not sure what I can do about it. It has 71,000 miles and should be under warranty.
Powering steering seems get harder when i stop at lights and when i turn then car back on from getting grocery.
My car caught on fire while operating
The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, it would not immediately accelerate when pressing the accelerator pedal. The check engine light would remain illuminated. Also, the vehicle had experienced unintended acceleration. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who reprogrammed the engine software but the failure continued to occur. The local dealer was notified of the failures. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 50,000.
The contact's daughter owns a 2015 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that her daughter's vehicle was consuming an excessive amount of oil. The check engine warning light was illuminated. Her daughter was taking the vehicle to an independent mechanic weekly to top off the engine oil. The same mechanic also replaced the spark plugs on two separate occasions however, the failure persisted. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle experienced shuddering, loss of power and acceleration. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the engine was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 65,000.
When driving at low speed straight ahead, steering locked up and was unable to turn left, steering wheel could not be turned from straight ahead position. Stopped vehicle and then started again, tried series of left/right turns to try and duplicate problem, steering would then randomly lock up when attempting to turn, more in left turns than in right. Occasionally was able to make full lock turn to left or right, however steering wheel would "catch" and wheel could not be turned to full lock unless vehicle was stopped and started again. At this point vehicle is not safe to drive and will need to be towed to Hyundai dealer, however Hyundai dealer says it will be at least 2 weeks before they can look at it, so vehicle is completely out of service.
My motor to my vehicle all of a sudden started making noises as I was on my way home and dropped speed and didn’t accelerate past 55MPH, my car started stuttering every time I hit the gas and it won’t go past 2000RPM and my check engine light started blinking at me. The safety issue with this is that when it stutters it could cause a potential crash and put me and others in danger. I took it to a Swope Hyundai dealership and they told me the barrings just automatically became damaged and the motor has to be replaced. I had this car for less than a year and it already starting to have problems. This issue happened 05/18/2021. The issues before the problems started becoming more severe was constant stuttering after I drove off after being to a complete stop from a red light. I’m extremely irritated as to this is the car that is suppose to help me get to work and college yet I can’t because it just decided to just break down on me in less than a YEAR!
I'm really at wit's end with what is going on with my car. My car is currently at 104K, its a 2015 Hyundai Sonata Sport. A beautiful car with an abundance of serious issues. I've had trouble with my car accelerating for over a month and I've taken it to at least 5 mechanics who have troubled shooted with no success to fixing the issue. The problem: my car hesitates significantly when accelerating and sometimes when it's can't shift gears and I'm easing my foot on and off the gas pedal, it begins to shake while attempting to accelerate. I try not to put the car in sport mode but sometimes this mode is what helps the car shift gears but I don't think this good for the car. So far I've tried changing all of my spark plugs and coils replaced, fuel injectors cleaned (dealership), transmission fluid changed and ECM updated (dealership). Also, the Hyundai dealership diagnosed the issues as an engine problem (intake exhaust and timing chain + tensioner) --- cost of all these things almost $4000!! I just don't understand why the check engine light is not coming on -- which is hinting at the local mechanics that it might be a transmission based issue. No the check engine light has not come on but the car drives really poorly. I'm taking it to a transmission shop and hopefully going to get some answers as to what is going on. This issue is absolutely frustrating and now I'm just looking for real direction by waiting to see if the engine light will come one and throw a code
I was driving to work as I normally would from the University I attend. About half way to my destination the check engine light illuminated and right when I was about to find a safe place to stop the car abruptly stopped in the middle of the Highway and stalled on one of the most dangerous highways in the U.S. being US I-20. I almost immediately got hit from behind however a few vehicles behind me did get involved into an accident due to the my car stopping abruptly with little warning. I called hyundai immediately and asked for a tow driver however the wait time was excessive and I had to go to work. I was able to start the car after 20 minutes, but it was in limp mode and I pulled off to the side of the road and had to uber to work. The next day I had got a tow truck to pick up my car and take it to the dealership where they said the car had accidentally triggered the knock sensor by mistake and replaced it free of charge. However the very next day it happened again after driving about 30 miles. And I took it back to the dealer they offered the same thing a replacement sensor. When I did some research and the car actually needed a new Engine after a recall had been placed. Hyundai refused to replace the engine after the knock sensor deployed. This is Hyundai's issue and it needs to be addressed. I was forced to put the car on the side of my house for the time being and get a rental until I could afford another vehicle. This is very disappointing from a consumers point of vi
While commuting to work on a rainy evening, the wiper blade appeared suddenly to become loose and quickly became fully detached due to the motion of my windshield wipers. It was flung from my car and could not be retrieved. The replacement wiper blades (driver and passenger side) were attached by a licensed mechanic, and they both seemed to function properly after installation until the failure occurred. The passenger side wiper blade remained connected. It had been replaced simultaneously along with the driver side blade; therefore they each sustained the same wear and relative minimal usage following their application before the critical incident. It was disturbing to have a piece of equipment necessary for the safe operation of a vehicle suddenly fail while the car was in motion, and during rainy weather conditions. There was no reason to suspect this would occur. I am hoping that reports such as this will help to put an appropriate degree of pressure on private companies to ensure they are selling products which are dependable rather than which compromise the integrity of valuable property and personal safety. The images I am including merely provide evidence of the product's purchase and support my claim of the failure. The photos of my windshield were taken upon reentering my vehicle after my overnight work shift. They show a faint line devoid of condensation, created by the bare metal windshield wiper having scraped against my windshield after the blade was disconnecte
I WAS DRIVING TO WORK I GOT ABOUT 5 MINUTES AWAY FROM JOB THE LIGHT AHEAD TURNED YELLOW I WENT TO EASE ON THE BRAKE PREPARING TO STOP MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED CAR CAR SHUT OFF AND WOULDNT START LIKE I SAID I WAS 4 MINUTES AWAY FROM MY JOB SO I MANAGED TO GET IT THERE I CHECKED ALL FLUIDS THEY WERE FINE HOWEVER WHEN I DID OPEN THE HOOD IT WAS SMOKING FROM MY ENGINE

I HAVE BEEN RECEIVING A 'SAFETY STOP. CHECK HYBRID SYSTEM' WARNING MULTIPLE TIMES. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO HYUNDAI MULTIPLE TIMES TELLING THEM OF THE ISSUE. THEY KEPT TELLING ME NO ISSUE COULD BE FOUND. THE LAST INSTANCE THEY UPDATED THE SOFTWARE IN THE CAR IN WHAT APPEARS TO BE A HAIL MARY TO SAY THEY DID SOMETHING. LAST NIGHT I WAS TRAVELING I WAS TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 60 MPH. THE CAR STARTED DINGING AND GAVE ME THE WARNING ERROR ATTACHED. THE CAR COMPLETELY LOST POWER AND ONLY ALLOWED ME TO COAST. I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO BARELY ABLE TO GET MYSELF INTO A LOCATION OF RELATIVE SAFETY. I PARKED THE CAR AND RESTARTED IT AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE ONCE AGAIN. THIS CONTINUES TO BE AN ISSUE, EXTREMELY UNSAFE, AND HYUNDAI CANNOT GIVE ME AN EXPLANATION OR FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND ALMOST LEAD TO A MASSIVE ACCIDENT.

THE DAY I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE FROM CARMAX, IT WAS BROUGH TO MY ATTENTION THAT THESES BEEN A RECALL REQUEST ON THE VEHICLE'S PARKING BREAK SYSTEM. I'D LIKE TO GET THAT CHECKED OUT. ALSO, IT SEEMS AS THO MY LEFT REAR TIRE RUNS OUT OF PRESSURE QUITE FREQUENTLY, AS I'VE HAD TO FILL IT UP TWICE IN THE LAST TWO DAYS (IT GOT DOWN TO 24 FOR A DAY.) THESE ARE IMMEDIATE RISKS THAT I NEED TAKEN CARE OF ASAP. THANK YOU FR YOUR TIME
I HAD MY OIL CHANGED 2 DAYS AGO. I DROVE TO WORK THE NEXT DAY WITH NO ISSUES. WHEN I WAS DRIVING HOME I HEARD A NOISE AND MY RPM METER WAS FLICKERING. MY CAR HAD STOPPED IN MIDDLE OF STREET. ONCE I WAS ABLE TO GET SAFELY TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD I INSPECTED MY ENGINE AND SAW THERE WAS A HOLE THE SIZE OF 50 CENT COIN. IN THE ENGINE. I AM NOT SURE HOW THIS HAPPENED. AS I JUST BOUGHT THE CAR, 5 MONTHS AGO.
THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. I HEARD A NOISE UNDER THE HOOD. IT GOT LOUDER WHEN I WOULD LET GO OF THE GAS PEDAL. I TOOK IT TO THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP ON THORTON ROAD IN LITHIA SPRINGS, GA. IT'S TAKING 4-6 WEEKS JUST TO COMPLETE THE BEARINGS TEST. THE DEALERSHIP HAS NO AVAILABLE TEMPORARY VEHICLES, BECAUSE APPARENTLY SEVERAL OTHER OWNERS ARE IN FOR THE SAME ISSUE. THIS IS AN INCONVENIENCE, I'LL STILL BE MAKING PAYMENTS ON A VEHICLE THAT IS PARKED. WHEN I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP FOR A ROUGH ESTIMATE FOR TRADE IN, THEY TOLD ME 1K SINCE IT NEEDS A NEW MOTOR.

MY CAR CUT OFF ON A CITY STREET, ON 4-11-21 AND WHEN I CUT IT BACK ON THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND WAS BLINKING WITH THE ACCELERATION REDUCED AND THE CAR WAS JERKING. I GOT THE CODE P1326 FROM A LOCAL AUTO STORE AND UPON DOING RESEARCH, I DISCOVERED THERE'S AN OPEN RECALL FOR THIS SPECIFIC CODE. I SCHEDULED THE APPOINTMENT WITH BOB MAYBERRY HYUNDAI, AND HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP IN MONROE, NC. I CALLED FOR AN UPDATE AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY WERE WAITING ON THE CORPORATE OFFICE TO APPROVE THE NEXT STEPS AND THAT THE SAME CODE P1326 POPPED UP. I CALLED THE CORPORATE OFFICE ON WEDNESDAY MORNING AFTER GETTING NOWHERE WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS CALLED SHORTLY AFTER STATING THAT THE CAR WAS READY FOR PICK UP FOLLOWED BY SOME THINGS THAT NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THEY CLEARED THE CODE WITH A SYSTEM UPDATE BUT WHEN I GOT THE CAR BACK IT WAS STILL GIVING ACCELERATION ISSUES, I CALLED AND REPORTED THE ISSUE TO THE HYUNDAI CORPORATE OFFICE AND WAS ADVISED TO TAKE THE CAR TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP AND THEY WOULD WORK OUT THE DETAILS. I SCHEDULED MY APPOINTMENT WITH THE HYUNDAI OF LAKE NORMAN, NC FOR TODAY 4-19-21 AND WAS ADVISED THE CAR PASSED THE TESTS THAT THEY RAN AND AGAIN WAS PROVIDED A LIST OF RECOMMENDATIONS OF REPAIRS. I GOT THE CAR BACK AND NOW THE ACCELERATION ISSUES STILL IS ONGOING ESPECIALLY IF I AM STOPPED AND TAKE OFF BUT NOW IF I DRIVE OVER 50MPH THE CAR IS SHAKING. I HAD MY BRAKE PADS REPLACED AND PAID FOR THE OIL LEAK LAST WEEK. THIS IS THE SECOND DEALERSHIP THA
ENGINE HAD A CRITICAL ENGINE FAILURE, PER DASHBOARD?,WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY, NO ENGINE WARNING ⚠️ LIGHTS BEFORE FAILURE! CAR ENGINE SWITCHED TO LOW GEAR AND IMMEDIATELY ONLY DROVE ABOUT 10MPH. I WAS ABLE TO MOVE TO SLOW LANE THEN OFF TO THE SHOULDER...MY CAR WAS NOT HIT BY ANY OTHER CAR...BUT IT DID COME CLOSE. DROVE PERFECTLY FINE UP TO ENGINE FAILURE/SEIZURE. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY UNSAFE CONDITION FOR A CAR ENGINE TO BE IN SUDDENLY. AGAIN NO OIL OR ENGINE LIGHTS ON BEFORE ENGINE FAILURE. HYUNDAI CASE HAS BEEN CREATED # 18049339 AND DEALER NOTIFIED. BOTH APPEARS TO ME NOT TO UNDERSTAND THE SERIOUSNESS OF THIS SAFETY HAZARD... ENGINE HAS BEEN REPLACED BY A CERTIFIED MECHANIC AFTER HYUNDAI REFUSED TO HELP WITH THIS MATTER. I WILL INCLUDE RESPONSE AND INVOICE FOR ENGINE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO MOVE FROM A STOP, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE VEHICLE STARTED JERKING. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND WAITED FOR A WHILE BEFORE CONTINUING TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE OPERATED AS DESIGNED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE INSPECTED HOWEVER, THE MECHAINC WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,200.
DISAPPEARING OIL. FOR YEARS NOW MY CAR HAS BEEN PROGRESSIVELY USING OIL. NOW I CAN'T EVEN GO A WEEK WITHOUT PUTTING IN MORE OIL AND IT HAS FOULED SPARK PLUGS AND LEFT ME STRANDED TWICE NOW, AND CONTINUES TO EXCESSIVELY CONSUME OIL. I FINALLY GOT TIRED OF THIS AT 130K MILES AND TOOK IT TO RELIABLE HYUNDAI IN SPRINGFIELD, MO. THIS DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN COMPLETELY USELESS IN OFFERING ANY HELP, ANSWERS, OR SOLUTIONS. THEY'VE ALREADY CHARGED ME $400 FOR A 'COMBUSTION CHAMBER CLEANING' - TOLD ME I WOULD BE REIMBURSED IF IT DIDN'T WORK, THEN WHEN IT WAS OBVIOUS IT DIDN'T WORK THEY DID NOT REFUND ME. THEY HAVE MADE ME JUMP THROUGH HOOPS IN HOPES I WILL EVENTUALLY GET A NEW ENGINE, BUT REPEATEDLY REMIND ME ULTIMATELY THAT MAY NOT HAPPEN. IN 2 MONTHS I HAVE HAD TO GO TO RELIABLE HYUNDAI, MISSING WORK, 11 TIMES FOR THEIR OIL CONSUMPTION TEST WHEN IT'S OBVIOUS NOTHING IS GOING TO CHANGE BECAUSE 'THAT'S HYUNDAI'S PROTOCOL. I AM GOING TO LOSE MY JOB FOR ATTENDANCE AND EVEN AFTER THAT, HYUNDAI STILL MIGHT NOT FIX THE ISSUE. HORRIBLE COMPANY, WITH HORRIBLE PRACTICES AND CUSTOMER SERVICE. NOW I'M STUCK WITH A CAR THAT HAS LOST A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF VALUE, CONTINUES TO DEVOUR OIL, AND HYUNDAI DOESN'T WANT TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT UNTIL AFTER I GO THERE NEARLY 15 TIMES. UNACCEPTABLE. WHEN I BOUGHT MY CAR I DIDN'T GET A 'IT'LL PROLLY ONLY MAKE IT TO 140K MILES' DISCOUNT. FORCE HYUNDAI TO RECALL ALL OF THEIR FAULTY ENGINES FOR OIL CONSUMPTION AS WELL! IF I WASN'T SO DILIGENT MY ENGINE WOULD HAVE SE
THE CAR STALLED WHILE ON THE ROAD WHILE DRIVING TO LEAVE SAN ANTONIO. THE CAR LEFT IN SAN ANTONIO TO BE FIXED FOR 30 DAYS. RETURNED TO SAN ANTONIO HYUNDAI REPLACED THE ENGINE DUE TO A FAULTY ENGINE. METAL FLAKES FOUND INSIDE ENGINE. I AM NOW BEING TOLD I NEED A TRANSMISSION LESS THAN 1 MONTH AFTER THE ENGINE REPLACEMENT. HYUNDAI NOT HONORING THEIR POWERTRAIN WARRANTY.
WHEN YOUR APPLYING BRAKE ON THE 2015 SONATA HYBRID TO SLOW DOWN WHEN U HIT GAS AGAIN THE TRANSMISSION STUMBLES AND HESITATES TO SPEED UP AGAIN. IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME AT ANY SPEED.
MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON AND MY CAR HAS POWER HESITATION DURING ACCELERATION. THIS HAPPEND 1-2 DAYS OUT OF THE WEEK UNTIL THE FORTH TIME IT HAPPENED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON AND CONTINUES TO HAVE POWER HESITATION AS WELL AS HIGH IDLING AT ALL TIMES, BURNING OIL, SMOKE COMING FROM THE EXHAUST, AND THE BRAKES ARE EXTREMELY HARD WHEN NEEDING TO BRAKE. I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL MECHANIC AND THEY DID A DIAGNOSTIC THAT RETURNED A CODE OF P0010 AND THEY REFERRED ME TO A HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. I WAS ALSO GIVEN A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN WITH A CAMPAIGN NUMBER OF 15-01-022-1. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY ALSO CAME BACK WITH THE SAME CODE. I HAVE PAID FOR THE PARTS AND DIAGNOSTIC AND THEY COULDN'T GIVE AN ESTIMATE OF WHEN THE PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE BECAUSE THEY ARE ON BACK ORDER. HERE I AM TWO WEEKS LATER CALLING THE DEALERSHIP TO FOLLOW UP AND WAS TOLD BY THE PARTS DEPARTMENT THAT THEY CONTACTED HYUNDAI DIRECTLY AND THERE ARE 1800 OF THOSE PARTS ON BACK ORDER WITH AN ESTIMATED TIME OF BEING AT LEAST TWO MONTHS FOR THE PARTS TO COME IN. HYUNDAI ALSO STATED THAT THEY HAVE SUBMITTED A HIGH PRIORITY FOR THEM. I WILL BE WITHOUT A VEHICLE FOR WHO KNOWS HOW LONG.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED MY ANTENNA COVER FLEW OFF. WHILE THIS MAY NOT SEEM LIKE MUCH THIS COULD VERY WELL CREATE A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE OF PARTS FLYING OFF THE CAR B
WHILE DRIVING OR IDLING THE ENGINE HAS ALWAYS MADE KNOCKING NOISES WOULD OFTEN HESITATE AND JERK ALSO OIL CONSUMPTION WAS EXCESSIVE FOR A NEW CAR. THE ENGINE SEEMED TO BE FAULTY FROM THE BEGINNING NOW IT SMOKES ,KNOCKS AND MISSES CONSTANTLY. I REPORTED TO DEALER THE PROBLEM THEY DID NOTHING TO REPAIR THE BAD ENGINE.
I THOUGHT I HEARD KNOCKING IN THE ENGINE A FEW DAYS AGO. I CHECKED SEEM TO BE NO PROBLEMS. THEN YESTERDAY MARCH 27 IT STOPPED ON MY IN TRAFFIC. IT STARTED BACK UP ONCE I GOT HOME IT CUT OFF AND WON'T START BACK UP
WHILE DRIVING AT INTERSTATE SPEED, THE ENGINE SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND THE CEL BEGAN FLASHING. THE ENGINE DID CONTINUE TO RUN, BUT WITH SEVERE HESITATION, VIBRATION, AND KNOCK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THE ENGINE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. VEHICLE MILEAGE AT FAILURE ~125K. ENGINE: 1.6 GAMMA T-GDI, TRANSMISSION:7SP DCT. THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE 20V746000 RECALL.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, MY ENGINE ABRUPTLY DIED WITH ALL SUBSEQUENT WARNING LIGHTS COMING ON. I HAD NO POWER, BEYOND BATTERY POWER, AND WAS STUCK ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY FOR 2.5 HOURS DURING RUSH HOUR. ENGINE WOULD NOT RESTART OR TURNOVER REPRESENTING A LIKELY CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE. MY LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALER DID NOT SEEM SURPRISED BY THIS REVELATION AND THEY STILL WONT TELL ME WHAT'S WRONG EVEN THOUGH THE CAR HAS BEEN UN THEIR POSSESSION FOR 72 HOURS.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
