Car has been knocking for a couple of months now, check engine started flashing and it lost acceleration. Towed to shop and code for knock sensor was reading bad. Shop replaced knock sensor, I picked car up and drove away and it happened again. Engine light flashing and lost acceleration, took back to shop and the next day which would be today they said take to the dealer cause it's still reading for knock sensor. My 2013 hyundai sonata 2.0 is now at the dealership in line with the rest of the seized engines. So I have spent $800 ($613 for shop and $200 rental car) and my car is still not drivable. Now I'm back in a rental at$300 a week until hyundai diagnose, test, and approve the process of fixing the issue with my 2013 hyundai sonata 2.0, it has a life time warranty! This will be the second 2013 hyundai sonata I have owned with the engine seizing up! Back in Nov. 2021 I went thru this very same thing!

While driving the car when slowing for a stop, or just closing down in traffic the car/engine at times will jerk and lurch while braking. If I am not a safe distance from a car in front of me I could cause and accident and hit a car, so I try to keep a good distance when in traffic and refuse to drive the car on long distances on the highway. I can't predict when it will happen and when it does the slippery when wet signal comes on even though it is not wet or slippery condiitons. I don't trust the car while driving, and have no faith in it's safety. I haven't scheduled an appointment for repair because the last time I did they kept the car for over 20 days due to what they said was a system, sensor failure and charges me $3100,when I got the car back I noticed liquid leaking from the car and then the above started happening. The car is available for inspection on request. Car has not been inspected yet, not sure if I can reproduce every time. But it happen almost every day I drive the car to work within 20 miles of my home. The dealership the last time would not give me a loaner car and I need the car to travel back and forth to work since I live in a place without access to public transportation.

I purchased the car used on 12/2/2022. Drove on local roads until 12/28/2022 then took the car on the high way for the first time, whiel driving 60 mph for approximately 5 minutes and warning siren came on and flashing dashboard that said to stop driving immediately, and pull to the side of the road if possible an electrical failure or battery failure and not power to battery or elctrical system. I pulled to the side fo the road, and got towed by AAA to Key Hyundai in Milford, CT. They kept the car for over 22days, and charged me $3148. Number 3 on the repair documet is Steering concern:ABS and traction control light DTC- it said it was a steering angle sensor circuit and they put a flexible coupling and removed and replaced sterring cupler and calibrated sterring angle sensor and reflash check. The car is leaking some type of fluid and still lurching which can cause an accident.

My 2013 Hyundai sonatas engine seized up while I was drive it. Lucky, I made it to a parking lot before it completely just died. The car only has 114,000 miles on it and I’ve only had it for a year and a half with no other major issues.

I had the steering coupler replaced on 5/9/22 at the dealer. Now the steering coupler is clunking again & the dealer will not cover the repair. My car is now out of the 10 year warranty and the replaced steering coupler only had a 1 year warranty on it. This part should not have to be replaced yearly.

Was losing power while driving, oil consumption issues (had to add oil every 1000 miles). Engine started knocking and went into limp mode, had it towed to dealership where they said they fixed it ($1100). Less then a week later while driving on the highway lost lower, went into limp mode (89 mph to 15 mph in seconds) and was almost hit by a semi truck. Car has been sitting at the dealership since May 2022, they said I need a new engine but Hyundai declined.

I have owned my car about a year. There were no problems from the beginning but just a few days ago I was waiting in my car and turned the heater on. The strong smell of fuel came through the vents I immediately shut off the vents and took the car home and did not drive it for a few days. After a inspection from myself to see if I could find the issue nothing was found and so I took the car into a shop to have them inspect it. They quickly found that the metal high pressure fuel line was leaking at the connection to the fuel pump. They said I was lucky that the car had not caught on fire during the drive to the shop as the leak was right near the spark plugs and the fuel vapors were very strong. They tried to reestablish the seal and the leak is worse now. The car is undrivable and I will have to replace either the fuel line and/or the fuel pump.

I was driving along and stopped at a double red light. As the light turned green and as I was driving through the first green light, all my dash lights came on my car lost power like it stalled out as I was going through second green light, I was able to turn into gas station and it came to a complete stop. So I put it in park and pushed the brake and button as I normally would to start my car and it wouldn’t do anything?! I had to have it towed and the driver informed me that there has been an engine recall and I never heard of this for my 2013 Hyundai Sonata!! I’m glad I wasn’t going faster and had a place to pull my car into and myself and my son weren’t hit by another vehicle causing us physical harm! I’ve tried several dealerships service centers and have yet to have a call back from any of them!! I’m extremely upset that the engine would shut down like that while I was going at least 35 miles per hour cause I had just got off the highway doing 70 mph! Why would an engine do this with no warning or issue prior to this?

My car would not exhilarate properly. When came to a stop it would spit and sputter to even move. Could not get up to 60 mph and no less than 20 without it wanting to sound like it was going to die. Took it into a dealership to have it looked at and was told their's several recalls on my make and model and the year of my car that I need to see if there's any on mine, then I drove it home. Now my engine won't even start after it made a loud noise. I use my car for work cause it's my only transportation.

Car stalled while driving with no warning at all. No indication of a problem, no lights on, no noises from car. We coasted to the shoulder and the car would turn over and die as the rpm decreased. Had car towed to repair shop. Was informed many codes had shown and they were in reference to the engine so I needed to get it towed to a dealer. Dealer called indicated codes p0014 and p0017 came up and that I needed to have my engine replaced. Hyundai was contacted and refused to help with cost based on age of car and out of warranty. My car is it 111,000 miles. The recall was refused because the bearings were not the engine issue.

2 weeks ago, I was on the freeway and my car started sputtering while accelerating and engine light was flashing. I got it towed to a nearby mechanic. Got a diagnostic test, they found metal in my oil, my engine makes noise, etc. then I started looking into things while my car was in the shop, turns out there is a recall on the engine for that exact reason (code p1326). But by the time I called the mechanic about it he already cleared the codes. THE NEXT DAY I took it to a Hyundai dealership for the recall. Today I picked it up, they said they can’t do anything because the code was cleared even though I had the paperwork from the last place with all the codes that were shown. They refused service and charged me $175 for the test. And said they heard no knocking noise from the engine. The minute I pulled out of the dealership, the knocking continued the whole way home. Hyundai said there was no noise when clearly there is. Now at this point they said they won’t do anything unless my engine blows or the light flashes again. This is a HUGE safety concern that they should be taking care of.

We were driving down the road when the engine just seized without warning. When we got out of the car we noticed that there was a line of oil running down the road. The car was towed to a repair facility where it was noted that the oil plug was missing. At that time we were told that there are multiple reports of this happening with this vehicle and that it is being investigated by the NHTSA.

I bought this Hyundai 2013 Sonata in June of 2020 with 62,500 miles on it. I do not drive very much as have health issues and needed a good car to take my husband with dementia and myself to doctors and stores etc. After just a few months of owning the car the drivers side seatbelt does not retract when it is clicked in. It just stays loose across my chest. Very scary as don't think it will hold me in in case of accident. I am 67 yrs old so not like I abused the seatbelt and I see it is a common problem but a dangerous one. I am on a fixed income and cannot afford to fix it and think with so many complaints about the seatbelt not locking in place or pulling tight like it should Hyundai should be made to fix the seatbelt. After owning the car 3 years I have only put 1500 miles on it as now around 64,500. Thank you

My vehicle and a couple more vehicles that I have seen seem to have a cracked interior dashboard caused by the heat. This problem seems to be common on hyundai's of different models. I've owned several different manufacturered vehicles, and this is the first vehicle manufacturer with a common problem with the cracking of the vehicles interior dashboard it has plastic fumes. There seems to be no remedy for this defective product. I have done research and found alot of people online having the same problem.

I have been contacting Hyundai since before November 2022 on an issue with the engine. At this point, the engine was spuddering, hard to acclerate, lags, shuts off yet no warning lights were on. I was told about the engine recall which is why I went there. Set an appt and when I got in, he said it does not SOUND like a rod knock and sent me home even though there is an active recall on the car that is IMPORTANT to fix, the fuel line. He did not care to fix that. I wrote Hyundai and they sent me another dealer and that was that. No cares in the world at how we were treated. Its been now 3 months and the car has been sitting because Hyundai refuses to help. The car only has 105,000 miles on a 2013. I have a case manager assigned that is avoiding my calls and finance company yelling at me for maintenance receipts of the car. Maintenance receipts are not listed anywhere. I have barely had the car a year! The fact that they sent my family home in an unsafe car is not cool! Then on my travels, the car starts knocking loudly and the check engine AND oil light both come on but the check engine light was flashing. NOONE IS HELPING US. My fiance lost his job because we had to rely on uber or lyft for him to get to work and he was late a few times due to those services not being reliable. Exterior Lighting
Filed Mar 19, 2023235,903 milesCA

The electrical system of the vehicle malfunctions regularly. When the headlights are on, the brake lights are stuck on and do not turn off, nor do they properly "activate" when braking. If the headlights are off, they work just fine. If the headlights are on, the entire dashboard lighting is prone to going haywire. On several occasions with the headlights on, the electrical system has malfunctioned and turned off all lights, inside and outside. They will not turn back on unless I turn the headlights off and back on. Turning on the high beams has made the lighting malfunction and the entire vehicle will decelerate, even when pressing on the gas. I will gladly allow my vehicle for inspection upon request. This is clearly a hazard to both myself and other vehicles on the road, especially at night. Not only is the lack of functional brake lights a hazard, but so is having rapidly flashing lights on the dashboard to myself as a driver. Moreover, the headlights randomly turning off at night is extremely dangerous, as is the random deceleration. Upon looking into it to see if I could find an answer, I learned it's a common problem with 2011-2014 Hyundai Sonatas and to see that so many have this issue but nothing has been done to correct it is shocking. My local dealership did inspect my car upon an engine seizure a few years ago, but all they reported was an issue with the passenger side brake light bracket and bulb (another common issue it seems). I have never received any sort of

I bought my car used from a private party in March of 2022 with around 132,000miles. In a year's time I have replaced the rear passenger side tail light bulbs 3 to 4 times, the whole light assembly, and the wiring harness twice due to the bulb getting to hot and the plastic caught on fire the first time and melting the second. Noticed the smoke when I pulled into a gas station that day and opened the trunk quickly and beat the small flame with a small blanket I had in the trunk. My kids sit in the back seat. So I'm constantly worrying while driving when they are in the back. The headlight bulbs go out quicker in this vehicle as well. I've had to replace the headlight bulbs 3 times already. This is also too close to the fuel pump for this sort of thing to happen in my opinion. This needs to be resolved A. S. A. P.
