CV axle clicking and loud noise coming from axles while braking
2024 Honda Prologue complaints

Loud clicking from left side of the vehicle when making a right hand turn.
While driving it started raining and I attempted to turn the windshield wiper on. The control knob was unresponsive. Rear wiper control worked. Checked the front wiper again - unresponsive in all positionsl. Fortunately I was able to pull my vehicle to the side of the road while I still had visibility, turn the car off, turn the car on, and then the wiper control was functional again. If this had happened during a sudden downpour on the freeway it could have been much worse. For reference - I keep the automatic wiper setting on OFF. I did not troubleshoot enabling the automatic wiper setting during the incident.
I have had my prologue for about two months now and have noticed that I receive a warning about reduced acceleration "randomly." I say “randomly” because I’ve observed that it appears during two specific situations. I get that warning whenever I’m low (less than 20%), so this is not random as it seems consistent. The other time this occurs is when I am driving or just starting my car (the battery percentage doesn’t matter, as it happens when it’s between 30% and 80%. Also, it happens when the temperature is below and above freezing). However, the latter situation occurs randomly and seems to happen more frequently while driving, though it also occurs when I am just starting the car. On top of that, the Forward Collision Warning system is extremely sensitive and has caused the car to brake hard unnecessarily on me with and without Adaptive Cruise Control enabled. Sometimes it even warns me of something that isn't even there.
Pulled out of our driveway and received a message that "AWD Temporarily Unavailable". This message did not indicate that this fault disables one-pedal driving. Upon reaching the end of my street at the stop sign, I gently let my foot off the accelerator expecting the car to slow down as it should when using one-pedal driving. Instead the car continued to move forward and I almost went through a stop sign into a busy road where I would have for sure gotten into a bad accident. Not informing the driver that this fault also disables one-pedal driving is extremely hazardous.
The vehicle's backup sensors exhibit excessive sensitivity when reversing from a garage or parking space. My vehicle engaged the emergency brakes automatically despite the absence of nearby cars or pedestrian obstacles.
Both front and rear axles are faulty. The make clunking noises when you make a 90 degree turn. The dealership says the car is safe but this is a bad experience.
The car makes a clicking noise when I make sharp turns, most co.monly to the left. It is brand new with only 2320 miles on it. The noise started within the last few weeks. The rear breaking system locked up the brakes and turns the emergency break on, when backing up, even if nothing is behind me. Once it was rain drops dripping off of the rear window. Another time, nothing was there. I had to assume that it picked up a shadow in the driveway.
The tire axles are defective, brand new vehicle makes a clicking noise when Turing left or right. Vehicle has been in shop for 4 weeks waiting for axle replacement on both sides.
I bought my car in mid-December and twice in the space of driving it less than 300 miles I got warning lights regarding a "high voltage" problem and to go to the dealer immediately. I did both times. The first time they said it was due to the robot installing some valves backward and also the refrigerant was low. They put me back on the road and it happened again after a few short drives. My car has been in the shop ever since. It is now Feb. 10. They now say that there is a badly designed hose that leaks refrigerant, and they are waiting for it to be redesigned and sent out and it is on national backorder. They estimate it should become available by end of February. I want this complaint logged into the system in case it happens again and because I am sure many people have this problem, having read all the complaints on the Honda Prologue forum online.
While approaching a red light on a busy road the forward alert triggered and auto breaking was engaged with no vehicle in front. Almost resulted in an accident. Had the light not been red other cars near me may not have been breaking.
Multiple warnings came on dash -Service vehicle soon -Service high voltage -Reduce acceleration with care -Car with exclamation, batteries with exclamation, sing battery and a turtle. -Car unable to charge On-Demand Diagnostic information from on star. The Hybrid/Electric vehicle powertrain controller requested malfunction indicator lamp illumination, please refer to codes from VICM The Lithium-Ion battery is not performing as expected. An issue has been detected in the battery conditioning system which provides heating and cooling for the battery pack on your electric vehicle to ensure efficient operating conditions.
Steering & front axle make loud clicking noise when turning, Honda is aware of the problem and that the problem gets worse over time but I am worried about steering/suspension failing before Honda has a fix available.
Complete Electric Failure multiple times now. Been in the shop multiple times.
I have encountered recurring problems with the vehicle's automatic braking system, as well as issues with the Honda Prologue app, both of which I believe compromise the vehicle's safety and performance. The vehicle's automatic braking system appears to be malfunctioning, as it has activated unexpectedly on multiple occasions, leading to near-miss accidents. At least three occasions, the vehicle’s brakes have engaged without cause, even in situations where there is no obstruction or “phantom” vehicle detected. This automatic braking has not only been inappropriate but also posed a significant safety risk to both myself and other road users. Additionally, the reverse braking system exhibits similar issues, activating without cause. Despite the alerts being on and the brakes not being engaged, the system’s warning signals still activate, leading to further confusion and potential danger. I have consulted with both the dealership and the Honda Prologue forum, and it has been confirmed that this is an ongoing issue. The dealership has indicated that they have no immediate workaround or solution. The only remedy has been to disable these safety features entirely, which negates the very purpose of having them. The Honda Prologue app, which is intended to provide critical vehicle information and allow remote monitoring and control, is also malfunctioning. I have been in communication with Honda for over two months regarding these issues, but unfortunately, no viable solution has been
I was driving on the freeway when a few error lights came on—the Reduced Acceleration, Propulsion System Icon, and a turtle icon on the dashboard and I had to floor the accelerator pedal to maintain my speed. I then pulled over, and the vehicle wouldn’t shift into drive or reverse. It gave an error message saying “conditions not meet.” Eventually, the car started working again. This is an ongoing issue with the car and Honda doesn’t want to do a buyback, this car is a lemon. I keep taking it to the dealer and all they do is clear the codes and state they can’t “duplicate” any of my concerns.
Twice the prologue warnings have come on that state “service high voltage system" and "reduced acceleration. There is no AC/HEAT in the vehicle under 35 degrees. Under 6000 miles
The car makes a clicking noise when I turn. It is brand new with only 1100 miles on it. The noise started within the last few weeks. While the dealer claimed the car is safe to drive, I am concerned a part may fail while I am on the road.
Loud clicking from the front axle area when making a left turn. Typically happens when making a quicker left turn. Has occurred three times in a ten day period.
As others have reported here and elsewhere online, my Prologue emergency braking/collision detection system repeatedly activates when there is no danger of a collision. Backing out of my driveway I can expect that 25-50% of the time the car will slam on the brakes for no reason and apply the parking brake, which I then have to disengage manually to continue backing out. More recently, I was driving 30 mph on a city street with no one in front of me when without warning the Prologue slammed to a complete stop. Fortunately no one was behind me or I almost certainly would have been rear-ended. After four months of owning the Prologue, and seeing this exact problem reported over and over again, it's evident the entire electronics system is glitchy at best and downright dangerous at worst. Everything from the crash-avoidance cameras (regularly issues messages that they're blocked when they're obviously not) to the remote starter (supposed to come on with two quick presses of a button on the fob, but often takes a dozen or more to actually activate) is borderline non-functional. Whether this is a software or a hardware problem, or some combination thereof, there's no question in my mind that sooner or later, as more of these vehicles are on the road, one of these malfunctions is going to cause a crash. I hope the NHTSA will see enough of a quorum of similar complaints to investigate before that happens. For my part, I've turned off all driver assist systems in my Prologue, which is
Vehicle makes a loud banging noise when turning. Dealer Service Department inspected car and stated the front axles need to be replaced. There are no parts available and the time frame for repair is unknown.
When turn i hear a clicking sound dealer technician acknowledges sound but refuses to repair. forward collision system sees things that are not there and slams on the brakes for no reason. hvac system fails to heat until after driving for at least 45 minutes even after pre heating.
I purchased Honda Prologue Elite Model in May 2024. In around December, a warning sign "Service High Voltage System" message showed up. We left the EV for service twice since then and the first time the honda dealer mentioned that the A/C and Battery Sensors were in swapped positions and they fixed the issue by swapping positions and was set right. The warning came back again around two weeks later and the 2nd time around, they said the DTC P0534 A/C Charge was low and that this error must have happened at assembly. The warning disappeared for less than 2 weeks and reappeared again the 3rd time. Its about 4 weeks now since we have left it for service and when we called them couple of times, they mentioned they are waiting for the parts from Honda and dont have an ETA. Its 4 weeks and we do not have the vehicle after investing 60K. We made several calls and emails to American Honda Motor Co., Inc asking for update on the Issue and the inconvenience we are facing without having the car and the response is to wait until they can fix it. This is not expected from Honda whom we trusted and bought such an expensive car. It seems like they don'w know what the real issue is and each time we get some random response as a fix and the issue comes back. What's more concerning is that its an issue with the Electrical High Voltage system and we don't feel safe driving in it. I would have not chosen to by this EV if i knew they had these issues and not tested well enough before releasing fo
Twice, a "service high voltage" error light has come on and it has said it impacts the ADAS and safety systems and the acceleration of the vehicle. The light disappeared after a short drive, but the heating system stopped working. The first time, we took it to the dealership and they reset the system and the heat came back a little, but seems to struggle under 32 degrees, and especially sub 15/20 degrees. The second time was this morning - the heat is barely working at all. Very frustrating for a vehicle under 2000 miles.
Twice in the total 750 mileage on the Prologue, warnings have come on that state “Service High Voltage System" and "Reduced Acceleration Drive with Care.” This occurred on 01/03/2025 at ~300 miles and again on 02/02/2025 ~750 miles. This error seems to be widespread with low-mileage Prologues, but Honda does not appear to be recalling to correct.
I purchased the vehicle on January 27, 2025. The morning of Jan 29th, I had three error messages pop up. 1- Service High Voltage System 2- Service Vehicle Soon 3- Reduced Acceleration Drive With Cate The vehicle would not allow me to connect via Bluetooth. My phone was no longer paired. I took immediately to the service dept at the dealership where I purchased the vehicle. Was told it was an issue with the AC, an A/C pressure valve would need to be ordered. 7-10 days for part to come in. Vehicle is in service dept waiting to be repaired. Only 79 miles on the odometer.
I was driving in the highway, at ~70mph with cruise control on when the error popped up. The temp was been 47-52°F. I got a message saying Service High Voltage System. I thought nothing of it and proceeded with rest of my trip. I went to even colder conditions and got down to 28°F at one point. I noticed that in the car, the AC was not working, it was only blowing cold air from outside. Eventually went to charge and and the car refused. I was 70 miles from home but was able to get a tow.
After using the turn signal, instead of self-cancelling it will operate turn signals in the opposite direction for several flashes and then cancel. Since the turn signal over cancels it causes an increased risk of collision with other drivers who could easily misinterpret intended action.
Propulsion System Failure light came on and vehicle lost all cabin heat. This occurred in winter (January) and since there is no heat all vehicle windows fog over, obscuring the view of the road and other drivers. All vehicle occupants are also at risk of exposure due to complete lack of heating in sub-freezing January temperatures.
Show a "Service High Voltage System" message. The Honda Prologue we purchased in May 2024. We have left it with the dealership for the 3rd time now and problem kept coming back. As a first time EV user we are concerned of safety and ofcourse not knowing what is happening. The 2nd time around, I was told the DTC P0534 A/C Charge was low. This condition was not detected the first time this alert showed up. I was told that the A/C and Battery Sensors were in swapped position (ie wrongly swapped positions) and that this error must have happened at assembly. I have dropped off my EV at Dealership on Jan-9th and today is 31st and still haven't got any updates on it and i am without my car. No one seems to know what the issue is really and randomly suggest somethings and problem comes back again.
Unknown braking while no objects in front or behind the car. Warns lane departure too late after you crossed halfway through the lane.
Front right CV Joint making clicking sound. I took vehicle into the Honda dealership. They kept care for 3 days. They put me in a rental. Called me to pick the car up and told me that the front CV joint was bad and that they got honda to approve to have it replaced. They then told me that the part was on back order and it might be in sometime in March. They advised me that my car was safe to drive and told me i had to take my car back. I dont feel that this is acceptable. I have had this issue with other older cars that i have owned and i was never advised that the car would be safe to drive. With a clicking sound like that the part should be placed immediately before the CV joint snaps and you get stuck on the side of the road or even worse causing an accident
The clicking when turning right or left. The dealership has had my car since December. They don’t have ANY inventory for this car for ANY parts. Every part being made is for the new cars according to the dealership. So many people have the same issue and Honda won’t take accountability. This car needs to be recalled for the safety of others. People are being told to drive around with a broken CV axial and wait for a new part. Idk how they can get away with this. If that breaks it can cause DEATH to an active driver or injury.
When turning to the right from a stopped position there is clicking noise coming from the right front CV joint.
On several occasions while in reverse the car braked hard and violently for no reason. This caused a sudden jolt to me and the passengers endangering our safety. Also, this condition can cause an accident if I’m trying to back up to avoid a collision and the emergency braking system does not allow me to do such. The vehicle has not been inspected by anyone else and no warning lamps messages or other symptoms of the problem appeared prior to the incidents. This condition first occurred with about 300 miles on the vehicle.
I purchased a Honda Prologue from my local dealer with just 8 miles on it. At 97 miles, multiple warning lights appeared, including "Service High Voltage System" and "Service Vehicle Soon." Additionally, the vehicle would not allow me to charge the battery once these warnings were displayed and acceleration was reduced. I took it to the dealer, where they diagnosed an overcharged AC system causing battery cooling issues. They removed 1.270 kg from the system, cleared the codes, and tested to ensure proper levels before returning the vehicle to me. After driving for another week, the same warning lights reappeared, and now, with only 360 miles on it, the vehicle is back at the dealer for further diagnosis for the same warning lights. It does not appear an overcharged AC system was the cause. For a brand-new car with less than 500 miles, this is completely unacceptable from Honda.
At approximately 400 miles of use on a new car I noticed clicking from the front steering axle when turning at low speeds. Service center at Honda daily reported this is a known issue with the.CV joint in the staring mechanism, but does not have parts for repair or replacement available.
CV drive shaft axels are bad from factory and make a clicking sound while driving, making sharp turns, or backing out of parking space. Honda says replacement part are on back order for over 1 month.
CLICKING IN CV JOINTS
Steering: The vehicle is experiencing clicking noises as it turns while exiting downward sloped driveways. Issues with the Steering and loss of steering could cause an accident while pulling out of a driveway or making a turn. The vehicle has not been inspected for this issue. There were no warning lamps or messages for this issue. Body: The Trunk door has been opening without personal operation. When getting into the vehicle notification will be given that the trunk is open. Upon attempting to close the door it is stuck in a half open half closed position that will not let it lock back in. This is dangerous as the door opening without intention could cause an accident, could cause items in the back of the car to fall out while in motion, or could cause additional damage to the car itself. The car is currently at the dealer being reviewed.
1. When I turn my car either left of right there is a huge noise under the hood at the joint like a cracking noise. It is very concerning and doubt that some thing big is broken. I got to know in the forum that almost all the cars are having this issue. 2. When using my HondaLink app to unlock the door, sometimes the app has issues sending the signal to the car. This is a safety issue because in the event I lose my keys I will be locked out of my vehicle or in the even of an emergency when I need to access the vehicle quickly.
When turning left or right i am getting a clicking noise dealership is ordering 2 drive axels parts on back order no eta!
Within a few hundred miles of owning, the CV joint started clicking. Dealer says they can't even locate the part. Told me to keep driving it, but it seems unsafe. Problem seems to be getting more severe and dealer still has no eta on the part to fix the problem. Concerned that CV joint will fail while driving - but dealer keeps saying it's fine.
There is a loud knocking or banging sound when making sharp turns. Particularly a turn of 90 degrees or sharper. It sounds almost like something under the car coming from the wheels area. It goes away as you release the steering and straighten back out. But it is loud enough that I am thinking of going back to the dealership to get it checked out.
When the vehicle is in reverse, the safety feature that is supposed to prevent you from hitting something mistakenly goes off when there is nothing there. It seizes the car and immediately causes the brakes to go off. The car will feel like it got in a crash. There is no way to un-release it and there is no way to change the settings to prevent it. It is a great safety feature that could really protect me from getting into a crash. But instead at least once or twice a week it simply prevents me from backing out of my driveway in the morning to go to work. Delaying me by 1-2 minutes every day. Very annoying.
This vehicle has remote features to lock, unlock and remote start the vehicle. However the app is not able to connect with the car often and the commands "'fail" which is a safety issue because it is an electric vehicle. So if the electrical or technological parts of the vehicle are failing, what else is going on.
CV joint is making a clicking noise when turning. The dealership, Shottenkirk Honda of Cartersville, Ga. was able to duplicate the issue. They told me I need to wait until the part comes in and I was not given an ETA.
Knocking sounds when you turn. sounds like cv joint but dealer says its nothing and common. dealer known
When making sharp left turn the vehicle makes a scary clicking noise.
Uknown braking while no objects in front or behind the car. Warns lane departure too late after you crossed half way through the lane.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
