On several occasions my 2019 Honda Pilot Touring AWD with Idle start/stop will not restart when the idle start/stop kicks in. At a stop light several times when I come to a stop and the engine will turn off and not restart when the idle start/stop engages. Very dangerous and a clear safety issue that Honda needs to rectify asap. I have read many others with the same issue occurring. Honda, please step up and do the right thing!

Stopped at a light and the auto start/stop system engaged and the cars engine turned off. Once the light turned green and took my foot off of the brake the engine did not automatically start. It would not start for about 30 seconds after trying to start it multiple time. The car was completely dead. Luckily the driver approaching me from behind was stopped without hitting me. This was very disturbing and dangerous.

I brought my 2019 Honda Pilot to Son's Honda in McDonough, GA, for a service diagnosis as my vehicle is not mechanically running smoothly, sputtering. I called Honda dealership knowing there's a current recall for fuel pump motor it thought this might be the problem. Honda asked me if my vehicle engine light was on and after answering "no" was advised that it wasn't available for for replacement at this time due to having limited parts and servicing only vehicles with engine light on or difficulty starting. I advised my vehicle was demonstrating a lack of power, judger and was advised to bring it in for a diagnosis. Charge amount of $159.00. Upon completion of the diagnosis from Honda it was recommended to have the "Torque converter " replaced at a estimated price of $4,700.00. Upon speaking with the Honda service department manager he suggested I contacted Honda corporate as they have seen this similar issue before and they usually granted financial assistance up to 85% off the repair costs. I contacted Honda Pilot customer service and was assigned case # [XXX]. I was interviewed several times, advised that Honda will review my qualifications based on multiple factors like brand loyalty, years of ownership, service, other related associations with Honda. I advised that this is my second Honda Pilot, my first one I owned from 2007 to 2020 and my second Honda Pilot from 2020 to the present. It's important to know that besides the current recall for fuel pump motor, Honda has a
NHTSA Recall Number 23V-858: I have contacted my local Honda dealer multiple times to fix vehicle per the recall and have been told that Honda has provided no parts to fix the vehicle, even after my vehicle began experiencing problems. Recently, while operating my vehicle, it hesitated (i.e. almost stalled out) and then surged forward, which caused me to get into a collision and sustain injuries. After the collision, I contacted the Honda manufacturer using the customer service number on the recall notice and informed them of the collision. They denied that the issue my vehicle was experiencing was related to recall even though a Honda website states that the fuel pump issue will cause the same issues that I experienced. The Honda manufacturer customer service rep. stated that Honda has parts to fix the recall and the dealer should have asked to receive a part. When I contacted the dealer and informed them of the Honda manufacturer customer service rep. statements, the service manager and my local dealer became upset and frustrated as he informed me that they have been trying to get parts for months. The Honda manufacturer does not appear to care for the safety of the individuals using their products, nor the for the individuals that may also be injured based upon these unsafe vehicles still being on the road. In additions, the Honda manufacturer is providing intentionally misleading statements to consumers related to the recall. Their actions are unacceptable and they should

Vehicle would brake suddenly. Then shortly thereafter, the collision mitigation system error appeared on the dash. Honda dealership says the camera no longer works and the entire system needs to be replaced. The fact that the camera stopped working spontaneously is concerning.
The contact's wife owns a 2019 Honda Pilot. The owner received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The contact stated that on several occasions when the vehicle was started, while driving or while in reverse, the vehicle hesitated continuously. On one occasion while in reverse, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was able to be restarted. The vehicle was taken to a dealer however, the failure was not replicated. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 33,000.

Dealer diagnostic performed and found that the multipurpose camera internal electronic failure has occurred (report attached). This camera controls the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), automatic headlights and high beams, Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Collision Mitigation System, Road Departure Mitigation System. This issue first began in March 2023 and occurs all of the time. I brought the vehicle to the dealership to be inspected. The warning lights and dings occur constantly throughout my ride. I have attached a link to a video that I had recorded and uploaded through Youtube, due to the size of the file. [XXX] Dealer quote states $1579, plus tax for camera replacement and proper aiming. This seems to be a common issue with the 2016-2020 model of the Honda Pilot per online chat boards. The price of repair among people that have either received a quote or had the camera replaced is from $1500-$1800. As this appears to be a manufacturing issue and not due to normal wear and tear, this should not be the responsibility of the owner. Colorful, trippy images from rear camera. Based on my research it is happening for most of Honda 2019 Pilots. Most of the affected people reported thier problem in below website. Please take a look. The Honda Pilot has a known history of "Judder and Surge" with the transmission. Which means to shake rapidly or spasmodically; vibrate conspicuously. Honda in America has a TSB/Technical Service Bulletin for this condition and that is to triple flush the transmission and reprogram the transmission computer. This is OBVIOUSLY a serious safety issue and the vehicle does not behave in a normal operating condition and surges and vibrates until service is performed. This is not normal wear and tear, this is bad engineering. Honda is aware of the TSB for Judder and Surge, but will only correctly repair certain trim levels and model years, although Honda knows that it exist in all configuration of the Pilot 2016 and forward. We have a 2019 Honda Pilot and Honda refuses to fix this vehicle as a TSB, but instead wishes to leave the vehicles on the road and have the unwitting customer pay for this serious repair condition. Honda should issue a comprehensive TSB for all Pilot years and makes for the Judder/Surge issue.

The back up camera is no longer working, i see online lots of reports. Hoping enough reports to issue a recall, the fix is over $800
Vehicle has recall for fuel pump. vehicle has had the CEL (CHECK ENGINE LIGHT) on for the fuel system. it comes and goes and has had shuttering issues. I have called local dealer and was told until the vehicle is completely disabled that their hands were tied. The dealer wouldn't even look at my vehicle. I feel the safety of my family is at risk as we travel the very busy interstate of the suburbs of Cincinnati. I do not like Diving a vehicle that may become disabled with my kids in it
The vehicle occasionally has trouble starting, and the engine takes a while to take off while I'm driving and we're merging on an interstate.
The forward collision warning and automatic braking system are terrible and have been terrible since we purchased our Pilot new from a dealer. The warning lights and beep go off frequently when driving on highways and surface streets, in fact it’s nearly impossible to have an incident-free trip longer than 20-30 minutes. The automatic braking system has engaged many times, causing unexpected and sudden slowing of the vehicle, which has the potential to cause confusion, loss of control, or even a vehicular accident. Making matters worse, one cannot simply disengage the system permanently; it must be turned off each time the engine is started and requires holding a button down for several seconds.
The front camera has gone out on the Honda pilot, but inconsistently works. It will turn on while driving and turn off while the adaptive cruise control is on. The vehicle does not have a way to bypass the camera, so then there is consistently lights and alerts on. With not being able to bypass the camera features they will automatically come on or off while driving while the camera is not working properly. This vehicle was purchased in October of 2019, and has had camera issues since January 2024. The vehicle is not even 5 years old and has consistently had problems. The fuel injectors went out at 3 years, which I would not expect to go out, and from discussion with dealership there was an extended warranty for the same year Honda Odyessy, which was not extended for the Honda Pilot, but both vehicles have the same fuel injector system.
Reverse camera is failing. Screen flickers badly and can’t safely see what’s behind the vehicle, low to the ground, when reversing.
I was driving late at night and noticed that the headlights were not lighting the road. Upon inspection, I observed excessive amounts of moisture had accumulated on the inside of both headlight assemblies and was refracting the headlight beam resulting in extremely poor visibility placing myself and other drivers at risk for an accident and injury. It is likely that the moisture entered the headlight assemblies while I was driving in a severe thunderstorm the prior day. Much to my surprise, I learned that this is a known issue to Honda. Please see the attachment Service Bulletin number 23-024, titled “Moisture in the Headlights”. Upon review of the technical information from Honda, I learned that the cause of the moisture in the headlight is a broken seal that resulted from improper assembly of the vehicle. Please see the Service Bulletin for a technical explanation of the root cause and corrective action.
Several times the engine automatically shut down when I stopped in traffic, but then failed to re-start. Takes several minutes of messing with it before it will allow me to restart it. Of course there was angry traffic behind me waiting... *There is already an ongoing NHSTA investigation into this issue. NHTSA Action Number: PE22005

When vehicle comes to stop, auto stop/start feature turns off the vehicle when brake is pressed. When brake is released the engine does not start, the car goes into park or neutral and will not move until the vehicle is shut-off and restarted after a period of time. Time varies. Dealership is blaming after-market battery, stating vehicle auto idle stop/start feature requires Honda OEM battery with specific voltage. Incident occurred in January 2024, reported at 50K mile service and again in June 2024. With both incidents there were no warning lamps, messages that appeared. Honda stated they could not recreate the issue then worked with Master techs that stated it was a battery issue. Blaming it on our specific vehicle and did not inform us of investigation of thousands of claims with this specific issue. There has been an issue with multiple occurrences when auto stop/start is engaged when stopped at light then restarted the navigation system would go blank and error No Audio Connection or the apps will remain and the No audio connection error will be on top of screen and cannot turn on any of the apps such as radio, etc.
I have the auto restart and the engine with shuts off normally when I come to a stop when I have the system engaged. The problems begin when I take my foot off the break expecting the engine to start up again. What happens inconsistently is that when I take my foot off the brake, the engine shuts off, shifts itself into Nuetral, and I have trouble getting the engine to start up again. A number of warning messages may show up on the center console as well. Things like, Collision Mitigation Braking System, Road Departure Mitigation, Brake System warnings start displaying. I can get the engine to start up again, but need to put into Park then start it. Also, I have noticed the car's collision mitigation system comes on when it restarts sometimes without actually turning off. When I disengage the system, which I do practically every time I drive the car now, everything works fine. The dealer didn't find anything when they ran a diagnostic, and keeps asking me to come in to run diagnostics,
Fuel pump recall received 2/24. Was told no parts available for 2 months. 6/24 parts still not available. Yet Honda is still sending me recall notices. BUT CANNOT GET RECALL DONE BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO PARTS TO DO RECALL AND HAVE NO IDEA WHEN THEY WILL GET THEM!!!
THE ACC AND LKAS DO NOT WORK ON MY 2019 HONDA PILOT. THE DEALER IS SAYING THAT IT IS THE FRONT WINDSHIELD CAMERA. THIS PUT ME AND OTHERS AT RISK BECAUSE THE CRUISE CONTROL DOESN'T WORK, THE LANE ASSIST DOSEN'T WORK, THE AUTO BRAKING DOESN'T WORK. THESE CONTROLS ARE MEANT TO HELP CURB DRIVER FATIGUE, AND TO BASICALLY KEEP YOUR CAR IN THE PROPER LANE AND A SAFE DISTANCE FROM OTHER CARS. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN INSPECTED BY THE DEALER AND CAN BE FIXED BY THE DEALER BY REPLACING THE CAMERA TO THE TUNE OF $1900.00. WHEN YOU START THE CAR YOU WILL GET SEVERAL WARNING MESSAGES ABOUT THE ACC, BRAKING SYSTEM AND LKAS NOT WORKING. A RECALL SHOULD BE PUT IN PLACE THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM WITH SEVERAL OF THE HONDA MODELS.
The idle stop cuts the engine when stopped at lights or stop signs or traffic slow downs but does not always start back up. Twice this month I have had to open the door and then press the ignition multiple times to get the car to start again. When this happens we also get an alert that there are other features being disabled. This was an issue last year and the dealer felt it was that we needed a new battery. So we replaced that and hadn't had issues until this month. It happened on the highway this weekend during a traffic slow down, and because we couldn't get going right away we almost caused an accident.
Rear view camera safety issue! 2019 Honda Pilot EX If a pedestrian is standing still, sitting even had a person walking behind car while backing up the car the camera will not warn you at all. I can't believe Honda has not done anything to fix this problem! I had at the dealership and they told me that you have to have a more expensive model or have an add on for $1000-1500. I don't think they care about anything but more money! Please look into this life threatening issue. Thanks
Unknown. There is a popping and static sound coming from the speakers. Also, the check turner or radio is not available. A notification will be displayed on the screen when the vehicle hits a bump in the road, or the street is not smooth.
The backup camera became distorted and pixelated. Confirmed by the dealership. No warnings or symptoms prior to the issue initiating. Dealership confirmed it to be a faulty camera. CMS IS NOT WORKING. Just stopped.
Fuel pump.idle stop not working most of the time when it works hard to start and red light blink a second.
With the lane departure warning- it alerts when the lane turning and when my blinker is on to change lanes. It does not alert when I change lanes without my blinker Lane keeping assistance does not do anything Engine idle shut off- when I am at a stop light and the engine turns off while idle, when I take my foot off the break the engine completely cuts off and the screen prompts me to shift into park. I the. Have to completely turn off my car and turn it back on. Sometimes it takes 30 seconds sometimes it take a minute or two to turn back on. This has happened at stop lights as well as on the freeway during stop and go traffic
Honda radar or multi purpose camera failed. Is available for inspection. Turns off extra safety features such as acc, lkas, lane departure system and cbms. Makes it more dangerous without said system. Unknown. Unknown. There were quite a bit of warning lamps, cbms problem, lkas problem, acc problem, auto high beam problem and more. They first appeared April 2024.
The 2019 Honda Pilot is receiving a Camera System Failure regarding the rear camera. The info screen shows a black screen where once the rear camera image was. I am putting myself, pedestrians, and other motorists at risk by not being able to have a clear view when driving the car in reverse. The Honda dealership confirmed the problem, telling me I needed to replace the camera and that this issue was NOT part of the current recall for this car regarding the rear camera. It has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others regarding my specific vehicle. There was no warning or anything prior to the camera system failing. It worked fine one day, then did not work again the next.
Radar and multi purpose camera simultaneously failed. Dash lights came on indicating that auto high beams, lane keep assist, forward collision, adaptive cruise control, and braking system where not working properly. I think my safety and the safety of others where compromised with these systems not working.
My vehicle started experiencing issues with hesitation when driving it on the freeway as if it was placed into Neutral when accelerating. As instructed by my Service Bulletin Number 24-010 letter, I needed to take my vehicle to the dealership. I took my vehicle to the Hendrick Honda dealership located at 14201 Richmond Hwy Woodbridge, VA 2219. They are trying to tell me that the recall is an extended warranty and they won't do anything unless the fuel pump goes out or they do a diagnostic that gives them a code that says there is an issue with the fuel pump module. The letter clearly states this is a recall and NOT an extended warranty issue. This incident occurred on [XXX] 2024. I want to make this response known to you guys because if I am being told this others are too. This recall is a safety issue, which can cause our vehicle to lose complete power! If I am experiencing issues as stated with this vehicle this is a concern. I won't be taking my vehicle back to that location, but I want to make sure that this issue is clarified and that their response is being addressed. Thank you for your time. The MOST communication cable connector recall causes the rear view camera to die early due to excess electrical noise going through the wire. There are many reports of the rear view cameras dying quickly due to the electrical issue of the MOST cable. The recall needs to cover the camera as well as the cable connectors, as they suffer damage as a result of the poor connection. My camera is still broken after the recall work was completed.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Pilot. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V431000 (Back Over Prevention) however, the contact was concerned the replacement of the rear-view camera was not included in the recall. The contact stated that while attempting to park, there was an abnormal sound followed by the rear camera failing to operate as needed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for an update; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 28,000.
All electrical systems failed at once due to a malfunction in the front camera-sudden failure with no damage to the vehicle physically. Honda refuses to fix or honor the issue. A recall should be required due to the vast amounts of complaints on the same issues. This should not be a financial responsibility on the owner.
Auto start stop feature did not restart engine after I stopped in traffic ahead of me on [XXX] in New Hyde Park. This has happened twice to me and a few times to my wife although she did not report them through this site. All this is after I had reported earlier the same incidents and Honda diagnosed it to the battery needing replacement after 2 years. There is a problem with this feature and NHTSA SHOULD ACT. Reading these
NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
