We purchased our 2019 Honda Pilot in the summer of 2020 and a few years later, we started getting issues with the car where it would have issues propelling smoothly between 1-2 RPMs, then we got the recall notice around January of 2024 re. the fuel pump, which i believe was the cause of our symptoms. the reason i say that is because we had 2 mechanics look at the car, and did not find anything wrong (we had changed out the spark plugs believing that was the issue and the symptoms did not go away; we had a transmission fluid flush and the symptoms did not go away. We have been concerned about the car for years, and when the recall came out, we kept calling to ask for them to repair the car and we kept getting told they did not have the parts (first it was they parts would be in around spring time, then they started saying summer, then they started saying fall, then late fall). I went into the recall notice on nhtsa and saw that it said something about if you were experiencing symptoms due to the recall, to call Honda and they should repair the vehicle. When i called Honda, i was told that unless the car completely failed and did not start, only t hen would they fix the vehicle. I felt that this was unsafe and concerned that the fuel pump would completely fail while being driven, so we had to unfortunately sell the vehicle due to the concerned safety issues Honda was not repairing. I loved the car other than for this issue so was very unhappy to have to resort to that as a solu

It’s been over a year my vehicle has a recall for the fuel pump module and it has not been replaced. I have taken it to Honda multiple times and I am told they do not have the part. Fuel injector is causing AWD error. No longer able to use the auto start on vehicle. Sometimes vehicle will not start. Unsure if that was due to the fuel pump recall either. Fuel pump has been replaced. Check engine light is still on and last time we had it checked it was due to fuel injector. The fuel injector was part of a recall for the year and model of our car but Was told our VIN was not part of the recall.

My Honda Pilot has a previous recall for the infotainment system. Recall # 20V439000 or Honda recall # T89. I purchased this vehicle used in June 2024 with the knowledge this recall had been repaired. After driving the vehicle for a short time, the infotainment system started having an issue again. We have taken the vehicle to the dealership 3 more times to get this corrected, but it is still an ongoing issue. This infotainment system recall impacts instrument panel control module software which makes this a safety issue. I am submitting this form to create a formal complaint for lack of repair after multiple attempts on a recall.

Thankfully we were able to exit the interstate without incident and there was a mechanic shop near the exit. He found brass flakes in the oil filter and told us that it was likely a bearing failure. We then had the vehicle towed back to the Honda dealership in Louisville KY where we purchased it new. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I was coming to a stop at a red light and the car shut off . It flashed a transmission issue and emissions issue on the dash. I tried to restart and it would start but not move or let me shift into gear leaving me stranded in the middle of a busy road. It took for an officer to remove my battery cable and then reconnect for me to be able to move the vehicle out of the road and into a parking lot. I had the car towed to the nearest Honda dealership where they saw the messages on the dash. While they test drove it all errors went away and they can’t locate an issue.

Unknown….vehicle slips at certain speeds and repeatedly does so on a trip. If the engine is turned off, this may reset and slippage goes away temporarily. This issue has been brought to the dealers attention on multiple occasions over the past 2 years, but they have been unable to reproduce except on the most recent visit. Occurrence is more frequent now. Wondering why this vehicle is not included with the recall with similar make and model for the same year for torque converter?

Our Honda had a failure while driving on the highway. The camera behind the windshield apparently failed all at once and this caused all of the safety features to stop functioning and we almost had a wreck trying to get across the busy lanes of traffic because when this camera failed it caused the service brakes light on the dash to come on and stay on as well as the adaptive cruise control, the lane keep assist, the emergency braking, the blind spot warning all to stop functioning immediately without warning. We had the vehicle towed to the Honda dealer and had to pay to have the $1300 camera behind the windshield replaced on a vehicle that’s barely 5 years old. This camera that is so ingrained into all of the safety features that are the main reason we bought this vehicle should not be failing. Honda refused to assist with this repair and they will recall vehicles because a backup camera isn’t clear but offer no help for something that kills every single safety feature of the vehicle? How does that make sense? I find this to be a sad situation that will get someone killed.

Since we purchased the vehicle back in 2019, the truck would stall and want to shut off during driving on and off. We received the recall information back in August and were told to call and make an appointment to service the recall. Back in August they said they didn't have enough parts in stock to service the recall and they would call me when more parts became available. Now we are in December and the truck is getting worse and we have not received any information regarding service to it. We have two young children in the car with us daily and are afraid that something might go wrong with the car.

When exiting a highway, my Pilot started to shake and jump. When I pulled to safety, the vehicle was reluctant to shift into park and kept cycling back in to drive. After multiple attempts, it finally stayed in park. Dealership reported the transmission software needed to be updated. I was told this is not covered under my warranty or under a recall as this is not a common problem. After doing more research this does appear to be a common safety problem.

Rearview camera image is blurry and rainbow colored (mainly purple and green). This is unsafe because I cannot see clearly out of my camera. Yes. We have had it in the shop for oil changes, tire rotation etc, where they could see problems with the camera image as well. We did not pursue them to fix at this time, because noticed there was a recall out for the rear camera in 2019 Pilots. Wondering why our 2019 Pilot does not show up for a camera recall? No. Also I see many other people have written in about this same problem with the same year and model Honda Pilot. Wondering why there isnt a recall on this?.... This is Disappointing.

My car has the following recall #23V-858. I am aware that Honda has issues with sourcing the replacement part. I called when receiving the first notification in Feb 2024 and was told this. I checked again when receiving the 2nd notification in May 2024 and was told the same, difficulty sourcing the required part. I recently have started to notice issues with the car which point to this problem, hesitation and uneven fuel supply. I contacted the local Honda Dealer, Ron Bouchards Honda Store, Lancaster, MA and after escalating the issue with customer service they scheduled an appointment to address the issue. When scheduling they informed me that they would charge $180 service fee. The reason I escalated this issue was that it is not a service issue but a recall issue. Can NHTSA help in addressing this issue? It makes no sense that a recall must be paid for by a consumer when the problem exists for the owner. Thank you for you assistance. I was driving on the interstate when the entire dashboard of my 2019 Honda Pilot Elite with 76,014 miles on it lit up with every light / warning possible. The vehicle began to sputter and stall. I was forced to pull off to the shoulder of a busy highway. I was able to slow sputter to the next exit while traveling on the shoulder to get myself off the busy highway. After getting 3 diagnostic testings completed… it was determined that the problem was within the engine. Specifically the cam shaft and cam shaft sensor. The sensor was scratched / scrapped due to “play” in the cam shaft. It was explained to me that this has been a common occurrence with Honda Pilots, particularly 2019. It cost a total of $3,657.94 for the repairs with labor included. They provided me with the parts that were replaced because they felt that eventually a recall would be announced due to the problem being so wide spread.

Honda Pilot has a known issue covered by American Honda TSB Technical Service Bulletin of "Judder" from the transmission. This issue is identified by a extreme and unsafe surging of the powertrain/transmission at all speeds and in all driving conditions. The event happened to us with this vehicle and makes for unsafe operation as the "Judder" presents as a lack of acceleration or lack of control. In heavy or light traffic this is not a desirable attribute of a vehicle to have sudden acceleration or deceleration without input from the driver. It is as if the vehicle has a mind of its own. This is covered by numerous Technical Service Bulletins and identified by our local Honda Dealer as TSB/Judder. The correct fix is a Triple Flush of the Transmission and Reprograming of the Transmission with more frequent transmission flushes than are recommended by the owners manual. NOT ALL VIN numbers are covered by the TSB for Judder and Honda pretends that not all Honda Pilots similarly equipped are affected by this dangerous condition. Instead the Honda dealership service department representatives identify the problem, admit it is a problem and then admit they know the solution and it is a known TSB, they then pretend some VIN are not included as if they are "safe" when they know that they are not "safe". NHTSA should investigate and force American Honda to recall or TSB all VIN for this Judder issue. It is unsafe and unsettling.
