My car for a long time has had the errors/emissions engine light on and when Honda has performed the diagnostic testing they say it could be the oxygen sensor or catalytic converter or fuel injectors or many other things...I've replaced the oxygen sensor recently and the light still on and doesn't go off. I think my car issue needs to be investigated and a recall performed. I see other recalls for my year and make of vehicle but when I enter my VIN its not saying no recall at this time. I feel like Honda doesn't know what is wrong with my car and of course at this point my car's is not under warranty and the fuel injectors they had replaced when I had around 10,000 or 20,000 miles on my car that also is now not covered on any warranty. Please help , all I want is my car to not have this light on every time I drive it. Thank you for looking into this for me.

2017 honda pilot brought the car to the dealer ship because I heard the engine nocking but there was no code for the engine at the moment. They told me it was the torque converter. And they told me that nocking noise was my timing belt. Fixed the torque converter and on my way home from the dealership car brakes down on the side of the highway… engine replacement at 154,000 miles, was well taken care of. Dealership told me cylinder 2 rod bearing failed. Replaced the engine with a 60,000 mile engine. And this just sucks because I had to pay outa pocket for this engine replacement. It was very expensive to replace this engine. It wasn’t easy at at the dealership trying to pick your first car to make payments on. And everyone telling you to get a honda because it’s reliable. And your engine blows less then 6 months of having the car as a Teenager. At the moment I only have a paper copy of everything tomorrow morning 12/07/2024 I will call the dealership to get a pdf form copy because I know the pictures might be blurry on you guys end. Feel free to email me anytime and I will provide the pdf copy. Not sure how the system works after I submit this

We are going through gas at a very accelerated rate. We were told in September that there was a recall for a fuel related part. We were told this by AutoFair Honda in Manchester, New Hampshire, where we purchased the vehicle. We were then told that appointments for the recall repairs would be made in November. Upon calling today, They are claiming there's never been such a recall. I was told by three different representatives over the course of the past two months that they're still awaiting appointment times because they don't have the parts in to do the recall repair. It's a 17.5 gallon tank and we have to fill it twice a week and don't do a lot of driving- enough is enough.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? - Our call has stalled 3 times within a month. I looked online to see what could be the issue. It states there is a recall for a fuel pump issue but I looked online and it is saying our VIN isn't effected? I don't see how that would be the case if we are having the issue many others have noted. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? - It has stalled while trying to pull out of a parking lot and shuts off. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? - Not yet. It is random. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? - I have an appointment with them in a couple weeks. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? - No it has lost propulsion while we have been on road trips but never any lights.

On May 1, 2022, While driving on the thruway, numerous alert lights lit up on the dashboard. The engine began to knock and thump and lost power. I coasted through traffic to the side of the thruway and shut the engine off (dangerous). Upon restarting the knocking noise restarted and I shut it down and had it towed to the Honda dealership. Diagnosis: Blown engine. I had the tech disassemble the engine to determine cause, which was identified as the "number 1 connecting rod wore journal on side of crank". Pieces of the engine internals were found in the oil drip pan. Since then, I have read of: Honda is recalling certain 2016-2022 Acura MDX, 2015-2020 Acura TLX, 2018-19 Honda Odyssey, 2016 and 2018-19 Honda Pilot, and 2017 and 2019 Honda Ridgeline models. These vehicles all use the same 3.5L engine. My Pilots model was excluded from this recall. In a recent USA today article it was stated that NHTSA was investigating years excluded from this recall. The investigation announcement into the 1.4 million vehicles says that the safety administration received 173 complaints from drivers whose cars were not included in the recall.

My 2017 Honda Pilot has been experiencing significant RPM surging and juddering between 10-45 MPH, accompanied by "Transmission System Problem" and "Emission System Problem" warning messages. Timeline of Events: Initial Repair (May 13, 2024): The Billion Honda dealership in Iowa City diagnosed the issue as DTC P0776. I paid $426.10 for the repair, but the surging, juddering, warning lights, and DTC P0776 code persisted. Recommended Transmission Replacement (June 17, 2024): The dealership recommended replacing the transmission at $9,000.00. Upon contacting American Honda Motor Co., Inc. At around 134,000 miles our Pilot started making a knocking noise on startup and during acceleration. The check engine light never came on, nor did any other dashboard warnings, and we had not experienced any troubling symptoms prior to this. Our Honda dealership diagnosed the problem as connecting rod failure requiring full engine replacement. Due to the significant cost of a new engine (>$10k) we opted to have a used engine put in ($8k). I contacted Honda corporate to make them aware of our situation since there is a recall for this exact issue on 2016 and 2018 Pilots but not 2017.

My brother, who is a certified mechanic, determine engine failure due to rod bearings. Vehicle has 112,265 miles. Vehicle started making loud banging noises. Took to local independent mechanic. He said the engine rod bearing is bad and vehicle is unsafe to drive and could cause an accident if completely fails while driving. The car is available at my house. Called Honda of Bartlesville when engine light initially came on with code for engine problem and when I showed up, the one I talked to on phone acted like I never called about it then hid in the back room and wouldn't come out. The car was 150 miles from end of warranty. To drive it there it was over warranty, and this was discussed on phone call. The car was inspected by local mechanic. The first sign was around 50K miles and periodically come on. The dealership wouldn't do anything about it and ignored it when I discussed it. Car now has about 100 miles and is sitting in my driveway as I try to figure out what to do with it. The dealership new there were problems and avoided me and from what I am finding out, others. The mechanic had 4 other pilots same model behind his shop & said Honda's aren't what they used to be.

18 June 2021 took car in for A/C no longer working. They stated the a/c compressor failed, but not under recall, however they didn't have any parts since it was a common problem. Only safety issue is that on another Honda we own the compressor also failed during an interstate drive with thunderstorms and a tornado we couldn't see out of the window and while attempting to exit the interstate the compressor seized causing the engine to overheat leaving us stranded.

I have a recall for fuel pump malfunction that was announced in December 2023. The first time I was notified was in February 2024 and today we are at the end of October 2024 (240 days) and there has been no update. My car failed to start twice and the battery was in good shape in May and July. The car constantly hesitates when trying to accelerate. Every time, I call a Honda dealer they tell me that the replacement for the item is not available. Upon checking for some affects that might be caused as a result of this recall, the fuel filter might get bad due to bad fuel pump, it might also affect the function of the fuel injectors, valves, and the whole fuel system. Honda wants to charge me just to take a look into this incident. I feel unsafe driving on highways or even in local areas as every time I try to accelerate, the car fails to go to full power and I am afraid that the car behind might hit me from the back if my car stops due to fuel pump failure. If the manufacturer or the dealer is unable to replace this part, I feel that they should change my car to a new car as I have been driving with this issue for over 8 months now with no visible progress.

On October 24th I was parked at a rest area and started the engine on my 2017 Honda Pilot. When I did I heard a knocking in the engine and the oil light came on. I immediately shut the engine off and checked the oil. I contacted a wrecker and had it towed to the nearest Honda Dealership. I was advised that it’s probably a faulty Rod bearing. I did research and found out there was a recall on the 2016, 2018, 2019 pilots but skipped my year except the 2016 Ridgeline. I contacted Honda Corporate and they stated I had to get a physical inspection done at the Honda dealer again and it might or might not be covered. I did not get a definitive answer. I don’t understand when the 2016 and 2018 have a recall for an issue that occurred on my car, but my car is not included on the recall and I will probably be out a minimum of $10k for a faulty designed engine. Make note my vehicle has only 80k miles

Our vehicle developed an engine knock 1 week after purchase. The mileage on the vehicle is 110,914. We took the vehicle to a certified Honda dealership which has had all maintenance at Honda’s recommended service intervals complete for the entirety of the vehicles life. The problem was reproduced at the dealership and upon further investigation, the tech found connecting rod bearings and main bearing failure. I received an estimate for repairs in total of over $15,400. American Honda is aware of this issue and has remedied it through work found in safety recall 23V-751. Our specific 2017 model doesn’t fall under the recall, but it has the same symptoms detailed in the recall. American Honda has been contacted for inquiry and vehicle is currently at the dealer awaiting further response.

1. While driving on the highway at approximately 70 MPH, the engine’s crankshaft and connecting rod bearings suffered premature wear, leading to a catastrophic engine seizure. The engine failed while the vehicle was in motion, leaving us in a highly dangerous situation. The odometer reading at failure was 60,764 miles. 2. This mechanical failure put my children’s lives and mine at significant risk. When the engine seized, the vehicle rapidly decelerated without warning, which could have easily resulted in a high-speed collision and potentially fatal consequences. By sheer luck, I was able to navigate across lanes of traffic and pull the car onto the shoulder without incident, narrowly avoiding a serious accident. 3. I authorized a full engine tear-down to pursue goodwill assistance from Honda of America, but despite the clear mechanical failure, my request was ultimately denied. The root cause of the failure was the shredding of the connecting rod and related rod bearing, which led directly to the engine seizing. Despite this, the vehicle is not covered under safety recall report 23V-751, and Honda of America has refused to offer any goodwill assistance. 4. The vehicle was inspected and diagnosed by a certified Honda dealership, further confirming the severity of the issue. 5. There were no warnings, error messages, or any indication of mechanical problems prior to the engine seizing, leaving no opportunity to take preventive action before the failure occurred. I am the original owner and have regularly maintained my vehicle. Current miles is around 69k, now needs a new engine. Early engine failure, something about a rod. This is the same problem the 2016, 2018, and 2019 Pilots have been recalled for. Original quote from dealer (Norm Reeves Honda in Vista, CA) to repair was over $10k. I have gotten an offer from Honda America to repair it for $1982 now, but the value may be as low as $11,500 after I pay to repair it. About 2 weeks ago I had a Carmax offer for $19,000. Not sure why the value of the car would drop almost $8,000 after I pay to repair it. I see many people online reporting early engine failure on their 2017 Honda Pilots, too. After we shared on Instagram that we were stranded 700 miles from home (and had to pay for a hotel, two rental cars, and $700 to have the vehicle shipped to our dealer for repair) we have heard personally from other owners who had the same problem with the same car.

To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding Honda's refusal to address a known issue with my 2017 Honda Pilot Touring AWD, despite the existence of a service bulletin. My vehicle has been consistently experiencing error code P0430, which pertains to the catalytic converter and emissions system. This error happens while driving several times. Honda has issued a service bulletin (NHTSA ID: 10187006) to address this very issue, accessible in the attachement. I scheduled an appoitnment at Honda to request the repair outlined in the bulletin. Unfortunately, they have refused to perform the necessary repairs due to my vehicle having a salvage title. I want to emphasize that although my vehicle has a salvage title, there has never been any engine or mechanical damage that would affect the emissions system or components causing this error code. Additionally, I am not alone in experiencing this issue. Many members of the Honda Pilot community have reported the same problem, and there is a large Facebook group where numerous owners are discussing their frustrations with the P0430 error code. This widespread issue further demonstrates that Honda needs to address the defect, regardless of a vehicle's title status, particularly since it is unrelated to any previous damage or title condition. It is disappointing that Honda is using the salvage title as a reason to deny what should be a covered repair, as the service bulletin explicitly addresses this mechani

Our 2017 Honda Pilot (VIN# [XXX] ) was affected by Honda's recall to correct the vehicle stalling out at a stop, and having difficulty re-starting the engine. We had the recommended action performed at our dealer to update the engine software, which appeared to adjust the idle upwards. Since then, our vehicle has stalled less than before, but continues to have the same problem. In July 2024, our Honda Pilot stalled at a stop sign near Paris, KY and would not re-start for about 1 minute - we had traffic behind us which was upset that we couldn't quickly re-start the vehicle. I informed the service rep at Gary Smith Honda that we had a recurrence of the problem and was told that if the vehicle was failing intermittently that the dealer could not troubleshoot the problem until the vehicle failed at a regular interval. Today, [XXX], the vehicle stalled again at a red light in Fort Walton Beach, Florida and would not re-start for 90-120 seconds in heavy traffic, causing a safety issue. Eventually, the vehicle re-started. Honda's recommended fix for this problem has had some positive impact, but has not fully corrected the problem. These alerts will appear while driving at 30mph on a city street. When the alerts appear, the brakes are activated and the steering wheel locks up. The alerts immediately clear but it is very alarming to the driver and passengers. Yesterday while parallel parking, in the mist of reversing into the parking space, the systems triggered alerts along with a transmission alert. The system immediately put the vehicle into park and would not permit the change of gears. While halfway in the parking spot with the front of the vehicle sticking out into on coming traffic, I was forced to completely turn the vehicle off, wait about 3 minutes before turning it back on. This allowed me to complete parking the vehicle in the spot.
