The seam seals on the rear driver's quarter panel of the vehicle are faulty and allowed water to flow into the cabin of the vehicle. The resulting damage was loss of function to the rear power lift gate, front seats, remote start and other key fob functions, as well as a dead battery(assumedly due to arcing on wet circuitry). The damage rendered the lift gate inoperable as I it initially closed but came open during operation. We continued to receive a power lift gae problem on the "Heads Up Display" but the power gate would not open or close, electrically or manually. After a few days the gate opened but would not close, rendering the vehicle unsafe to operate. Furthermore, the battery was dead and would not start. Had this incicdent not occurred in our driveway we could have been susceptible to being stranded in sub-freezing temperatures with kids. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and they confirmed a roof leak was a cause of the water incursion. The power lift gate module and floor harness were damaged causing failures to lift gate operation and other electronics. It will cost $7000 to have it repaired at the local Honda dealer. Pending completion of repairs and paperwork for submission.

Recommended to report as this seems to be a common thing with Honda and needs to be a recall.

The Honda sense front facing camera has went out on my 2018 Honda Odyssey. The camera is currently still installed in my van and if it is necessary to replace to keep it from draining the battery I will request that the faulty part be provided to me. This camera being faulty causes the loss of cruise control, adaptive cruise control, auto high beams, lane keep assist and emergency breaking. This issue is also causing a drain on the battery, which impacts other items due to low voltage. My van is currently at the dealership and I am being told that I will have to purchase a new camera which will be around $1500. The following lights are on; BREAKS, ACC and LKAS. These items first appeared within a few weeks of having the rear camera recall completed. Based on my research this is a common problem and just like the rear camera recall, Honda should have to replace this camera as well. The date provided is the date it was officially diagnosed by Honda, the lights appeared in 10/2024 and all of the functions were lost around that time.

Fuel pump went out on my Honda Odyssey causing my car to stall on a highway with my kids. It kept giving me issues the last few days before stalling with taking off. It was as if the car did not want to take off when stopped and when accelrating. I did report this to my local Honda dealer and although there is a recall regarding the fuel pumps and injectors dealing with my make and model my vin number is unfor. not included. I had to have my car towed to my local dealership on 12/18 which I am still waiting on repairs. When this happened all of my warning lights appeared.

The rear tailgate stopped working. Upon investigation, there is structural issue with the body. There are holes near rear tailgate which allows to water to pass through. The water has damaged the rear tailgate motor and now the door is inoperable. This has been a common issue with Odyssey minivans 2018 and newer model. We have contacted honda regarding the issue and they refuse to accept any liability regarding the body defects.

Our 2018 Honda Odyssey minivan had water leaks intruding and collecting into the power tailgate control module on the driver-side rear compartment causing the tailgate to become nonfunctional and not lock properly or open/close appropriately leading to a major safety issue where the tailgate may open or even not close during movement of the vehicle leading to significant risk to passengers with respect to accident or bodily injury. This power tailgate issue appears to be caused by defective rear body seam seals from the manufacturer that allows water to leak into the rear driver's side panels and intrude into the module leading to damage and destruction of the module circuit board. I have needed to purchase a replacement for the module (~$200) and I have provided photos to show the water damage.

The engine failed without prior indication. The dealer says the engine is destroyed and needs to be replaced. Once the engine stopped working the vehicle would not go into neutral and was immovable preventing the vehicle from being moved to a safe location. The dash had a message that said the engine must be running to shift to neutral but the engine was blown. The owners manual has no solution to put the vehicle in neutral with an inoperable engine.

I just had several recalls completed on my van. The issue that they couldn’t fix (which I have seen on so many message boards) my car stalls when starting from a stop. If I’m at a stop sign and press the gas nothing happens for 2-3 seconds and then it will catch and take off throwing everything in the car and the people forward. It is terrifying! I’ve had it happen with cars approaching and just been a sitting duck, thank the Lord it engaged in time. This seems to be a very prevalent issue and I don’t understand why a recall hasn’t been done before someone dies. My trunk also doesn’t work automatically anymore and they said I had a leak that would be $300 to diagnose and $500 to fix. I know ther are lawsuits for both of these issues. Recalls need to be issued.

Infortainment center shuts down and loses connection. Which means there is no communication with the backup camera or navigation. Popping noises from the front speakers start static and pop then the screen states connection lost then goes black. Turns back on in about 5-10 minutes depending. Also the lighting for the buttons around the center are not working as well. Idk if this is related or is an overload that the system cannot keep up.

The camera projector needs to be replaced according to the Honda dealership. Too many Honda Odysseys are having similar issues. Come thing is battery replacement or vehicle is located in warmer climate states. This camera mount is too sensitive to voltage swings or warm weather which is a poor design by Honda. It is a major safety concern not being able to use key features in the Elite and Touring models such as adaptive cruise control, LKAS, and the other 5 warnings that won't go away. This needs to be resolved by Honda so that vehicle owners can get back on the road safely. The cost to replace the camera and calibration is ridiculous ($1700 - $2000). This will be the last Honda vehicle we ever buy if Honda doesn't setup and correct this issue with thousands of Odyssey vehicles. This a major issue and Honda needs to recall and correct this issue before a major lawsuit comes their way to due to this poor design.

My 2018 Honda Odyssey stalls or hesitates when I go from a stop to accelerate. The vehicle will lose all power for 3-6 seconds and when the engine catches up to the pedal, the vehicle accelerates hard, spinning the tires and jerking the vehicle. I've had the vehicle inspected at my local Honda dealership and they've said the vehicle has no open recalls. This includes the fuel pump recall and the engine recall, neither recall has been issued for my vehicle. The results of the inspection was the technician explaining that "the vehicle just does that." My vehicle has not produced any warning lamps for the engine. My vehicle has produced several warnings lamps and warning messages on the infotainment screen about the side doors being open. I've had several instances where the door will not close and or will not open properly.

Engine has been “hiccuping” for a few months and making a knocking sound. Brought it to Honda on 3 separate occasions and they “could not replicate” the sound. And said it’s normal. The dealer determined that the connecting rod bearing in the engine needed to be replaced. The dealer informed the contact that the engine needed to be taken apart to perform the repair. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V751000(Engine and Engine Cooling). Issue-1 High pressure fuel pump in the engine bay (no the fuel pump that was recalled for some VINs) failed at 88000 miles. There was a loud motorcycle exhaust kind of sound coming from the engine bay , which is more audible from inside the cabin than from the engine bay itself. Took it to service center for a 1500$ replacement. Wrote to Honda customer care , but they rejected by claim and goodwill refund saying there is not recall for this item. It is example of poor quality of Honda these days especially with this 2018 Nine speed model. Issue-2 MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. The vehicle doesn't accelerate while moving from a complete stop or turning into a busy intersection , making us prone to big Collison from oncoming traffic. The vehicle lags for 3-5 seconds before it accelerate rapidly. This is an ongoing issue with this model which Honda ignores and is a disaster waiting to happen. NHTSA should look into this and recall all HONDA 2018 9 SPEEED ODYSSEYS to fix this issue. It is been 6 years and Honda comfortably ignoring this safety hazard especially for a vehicle meant for kids.

While driving down the interstate, the engine started to make a loud squealing noise. I pulled over to investigate. Not being a mechanic, I couldn't determine anything. I attempted to start going again and the engine had no power. I was barely able to get it off the highway and we called for help. In the van were me, my wife, and daughter. It was scary with cars and semitrucks driving past us at high speeds. I was concerned. We were able to get the van towed after several hours of waiting. It was a hot day and I had a tick on me while waiting. The van took over a month to repair. The dealership confirmed the cause of the engine failure as the cylinder #2 connecting rod bearing. There were no warning lights when we pulled over the first time. When we started going, the check engine light came on.

The front monocular camera (36160-THR-A03) completely stopped working. It is behind the rear view mirror, behind the front windshield. Errors displayed on dashboard indicating lane keep assist, forward collision warning, brake mitigation system, adaptive cruise control, and brake system lights turned on. (99% of the time). On occasion, transmission problem, blind spot detection, AND rear camera cross traffic detection (radar disabled) would also go on (3% of the time). While driving the vehicle on the freeway, the dashboard went completely BLACK for about 3-5 seconds, and I could not see my speed, fuel, odometer, and everything else. It came back on, but that really concerned me. I immediately opened a ticket with Honda Corporate. (Repair Diagnosis Request: 14552995). The root cause was not identified. However, some speculate a failing battery (low voltage) can trigger it. In my case, I replaced the battery first when the symptoms first started, but the issue did not resolve even after driving it 500+ miles. The oddest symptom is something I could not explain. Every Saturday (like clockwork because kids soccer practice), between 12pm-1pm local time (Eastern for me), the issue would go away completely and the camera (and all assistive features) would work completely normal. As soon as I power off/on the vehicle, the issue came back immediately… until the next Saturday. This happened 3 times, 3 weeks in a row. Makes me think there’s a software/firmware glitch. The check engine light on my 2018 Honda Odyssey has been on since January 2024. We took it to the dealer (Music City Honda - Mt. Juliet, TN) and they claimed the 02 sensors were bad. We paid $500 to have these replaced, but the light came back on. We then received the recall for the fuel pump module. We have tried twice since May 2024 to get the part under recall replaced but have been told both times that the part is unavailable. The dealer claimed that we could bring it in but if the issue is not determined to be related to the recall, we will have the pay the diagnostic fee. For over a year, my 2018 Honda Odyssey has intermittently hesitated when accelerating, particularly when pulling into intersections or merging into traffic. This hesitation creates a significant safety risk, as the vehicle momentarily fails to respond to acceleration, increasing the potential for collisions in situations where immediate response is necessary. The issue is consistent with symptoms outlined in Honda’s recall (NHTSA Recall Number: 23V-858) involving a malfunctioning fuel pump impeller. The vehicle has been inspected by the dealer, who confirmed the issue but indicated that they lack the necessary parts to complete the repair. Despite repeated inquiries, the part remains unavailable, leaving the vehicle unsafe to operate and creating an ongoing safety concern. No warning lights or dashboard messages appear prior to or during the hesitation. The dealer has acknowledged the problem, but without parts, the recall remedy remains incomplete.
