Sitting at a stop light and our back windshield just shattered. No impact. Car had been on for an hour so nothing to do with heating. Windshield just completely shattered and fell off. Car had recently been inspected a few weeks ago and nothing reported at the time. We had two dogs in back of car and could’ve been bad.

I was driving at night and no one was near me and my back windshield shattered. It made a huge pop sound, I checked my warnings for anything like my tires but nothing was showing up. Nothing hit it. I did have my defrost on but I don’t know if that plays a part.
I was driving at night not near anyone on the highway when my back windshield just shattered. It was huge pop noise so I thought maybe a tire, so I looked at my warnings and nothing was going off. I couldn’t see out of my back windshield clearly because the shattered glass, I didn’t know it was shattered till I got home. I did have my defrost on, I don’t know if that plays a part.
When driven especially in cold weather the steering feels like it sticks or jerks when making minimum movements. Which feels like it does not track or have to turn the steering wheel in the opposite direction. Happens when driving and standstill. This may be related to the current Honda steering recall.
Steering is very sticky and feels like pressure builds up while driving. Several times I've been in a situation where I have to jerk the steering wheel because it "locks" up and feels like your trying to pull apart magnets. The Honda dealership says they can't duplicate the issue. American Honda is ridiculous and won't help at all. I'm having a lemon law attorney currently review this issue along with other issues I've had with the HRV. This car is a total disappointment and unsafe in so many ways and Honda knows exactly what's going on they just aren't doing anything about it.
In rear windshield, loud popping noise then glass shattered
I can feel my steering wheel sticking to the left and right. It's not the lane departure assist, it just sticks. I've taken it to my dealership twice and both times they admit they feel it sticking but says they don't have an answer. Looking this up, it sounds like there are several other HR-V owners with the same problem. Driving on a highway in a windy city, it takes a lot to control the car but makes it way worse when the steering wheel sticks. I feel like this is a major safety issue and Honda won't do anything about it. This happens all the time, not just once. You can feel it while in park or while driving.
During a short drip in August 2023 was the first time I noticed the steering "freezing" on the highway and jolting when I tried to control it. I had to use considerable force to hold and direct the steering throughout the trip and back. Still, on the trip, it sometimes felt as if the vehicle was floating and the steering had no grip. It was such a risky and exhausting trip for me because of this problem. On November 30th, 2023, I was on the highway again and experienced it. The steering felt stiff and at times, the front wheels felt like they were being magnetically pulled away in a different direction. I felt so unsafe with other fast-moving vehicles on every side as I struggled to keep the steering aligned. I had to use a good amount of force to grip and direct the steering and found myself praying for safety as I drove. It was certainly hazardous as it could endanger my life and those of others. I called the dealership to lay a complaint. They asked me to bring the car over to them, but I am in a different location and frightened to drive the car for hours to them and then more hours from there back to my base. I asked if I could take it to a nearby dealership but was told I'd have to pay hundreds of dollars for diagnostics. If they could direct me to a nearby dealership to run diagnostics for free, I would be willing to do that. There have not been warning signs indicated by the vehicle so far. I got this car in March and it has less than 3000 miles on it. I don't know wh

The rear window of my one year old 2023 HrV suddenly shattered, thankfully while vehicle was parked. No impact to glass or reasoning, I filed an incident report with police out of concern, they had never seen anything like it but stated it was not due to any object impact. This happened right on Christmas weekend, leaving me without a safe car to drive which ruined some of plans and dealership was unable to assist but associate did mention she’s seen another customer with same issue and there are many similar instances online. I could’ve been driving or had my boy in the backseat when this happened. There seems to be some issue with the pressure points and placement of the window, frightening this can happen again. No warning lights triggered for this particular scenario. Please issue recall.
USED MY REAR DEFOSTER FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS MORNING, AFTER ABOUT 10-15 MINS, REAR WINDOW SHATTERED! I HAVE PICTURES BUT CANNOT UPLOAD THEM
Car was parked in grocery store parking lot. Started the car and turned on the rear defrost. Heard a loud noise and all of a sudden the rear window imploded. There was no contact with anything and the car has not been in a collision
Rear windshield shattered/ defective
BACK WINDOW SHATTERED FOR NO REASON. THE REAR DEFROST TURNED OFF AND THEN THE GLASS SHATTERED.
On 12/21/23, I went out to my secure garage to my 2023 Honda HRV and found that the back window had completely shattered. After further investigation, I did not find any obvious external reason for this incident. I had driven the car on 12/20/23, which was a rainy day and may have activated the rear wiper and/or rear defogger. But to my knowledge, there was no impact of any kind to the window. The component that failed was the rear window. No one was hurt; however, this could've been a safety issue if it happened on the road. There was no warning prior to the incident. The vehicle was purchased on 11/26/22 and was last serviced on 10/30/23, where no problems were noted. I called Honda, thinking this may be a product defect. They confirmed that it wasn't and that it was not covered by their warranty. I am going through my insurance company and am waiting for a window which is on back order, with no arrival date known. Rear windshield spontaneously burst, creating a hole on the driver’s side area followed by complete splintering and combustion. Had anyone been in the backseat, they could have been injured by glass. Also, it burst while we were driving, startling us and causing panic will in motion. There was no indication of impending destruction. Police were contacted as we tried to determine the cause. There was no external reason (rock, crash, etc.) that caused the damage.
I had gently shut my car door and the back windshield exploded. Glass went everywhere, and if someone was in my back seat or standing behind my car, they would’ve been cut. My car was not even on. Very very disappointing on Hondas part as I know 2 other people who have the same car and have had the same problem happen.
Steering wheel gets sticky/jerky when going on interstate now. Sometimes I need to over correct for it to unstick, which could be a huge safety risk
I was park and suddenly I heard a kind of exploding from the back of my car, I thought someone was trying to steal something but it was nobody and it was nothing than can cause the damage.
The rear window just shattered while my car was parked. I had went to go get groceries and loaded it into my car. Then bam the window just shattered.. this wasnt like someone hit the window or an object. The window shattered without anything leading it to shatter.
My car was parked at parking lot while I bought groceries after I went back into my car since I put the groceries on the passenger side of me I closed my door. Then I heard a loud noise of glass breaking and I turned around my rear window was shattered and nothing hit my window nor someone broke into it since as I mentioned it was fine before I went in and when I walked passed my rear window to get into my car then it randomly shattered. This is super concerning especially hearing this didnt just happen to me. Honda needs to do something asap because Honda is not living up to their standard as they say they do.

It was a cold evening. I was driving on the highway for roughly 15 minutes, with rear defroster on, when the rear windshield shattered spontaneously, with enough force to send pieces of glass into the back seat. There was a loud thud when it happened. There were no warnings by the vehicle. Police inspected the vehicle and said it was not caused by any external objects.
Rear glass window shattered while driving. No debris hit it, basically it exploded.
It was a cold morning in Georgia. I warmed up my car and waited for the ice to melt like I always do. This morning, the ice melted like it normally does and I drove home. Once I got home, I climbed out of my car and heard my rear windshield shatter
As I was parked about to take off I put the rear defroster because it was raining in LA and as I was about to take off I heard a loud popping noise and I looked to the back and all I could see was my back windshield shattered… when I opened the door to go check it just fell apart there was no one around me and there was no trees or branches or rocks that could’ve hit it. Very scary!!!
Drove about 2 minutes down down the road and the back window just shattered randomly.

About 10am in Dec 14th, there was something is broken sound after closing my car door, and when I turn around to check what happened, the rear windshield of car is shartted. It's obviously to see the cracks is started from sides. And excluding the man-made and natural possibilities, I think it is the bad quality of rear for vehicle. Before founding this component, my car is normally working on the night of Dec 13th. I only opened “rear” to heat in order to get a better rear view. And then I parked in front of my house. The only one factor I can ensure causing this in my mind is the problems with the quality and with the rear system. Never a car window is easily shattered because of heat rear. Although it’s no hurt happened, the bad quality of rear windshield is probably increase dangerous level if the vehicle is heated rear during a rainy day while driving. Before the rear windshield is shattered, about a week ago, the rear system seems not working to remove mist well. I had reported this situation to insurance and the dealer, but the dealer think it’s caused by natural reason or man-made. And all the repair fee is paid by myself, I don’t think it’s reasonable, and they told me they cannot replace the glass as soon as possible because it’s back-ordered. It makes huge inconvenience to me. (Hope to report this as a record if Honda can realize a “small” but big issue later)
Back Windshield exploded while car was parked.

Steering has become jerky and sticks in the last two weeks…makes it very hard to drive and feels unsafe. We turned off the lane assist to see if that helped but no different. Diagnostic test was done today but results not yet confirmed. Was told it was “safe@ to drive but power steering warning light came on twice on my 15 minute drive home.

Back windshield shattered for no reason.
REAR WINDOW - while driving down the highway the rear window just made a loud POP when I looked my rear view mirror the whole window had shattered .... immediately pulled off the highway .
The problem is related to steering. Steering wheel sticks at any speed but gets more hazardous as speed increases. Potential for accidental over steering— causing difficulties staying in lane. Accident did not occur, but steering problem could easily cause one.
My rear window completed shattered without any impact, I contacted the dealership & they stated that glass isn’t covered. This is very disappointing because Honda isn’t fixing the issue.

Rear glass shattered no reason, no accidents
On September 22,2023 I was entering my vehicle on the drivers side, I got in the seat and shut the door and my rear view window immediately shattered.
I was driving at 30mph and my rear windshield shattered after having the defroster on. I had a passenger in the back seat when this happened and not only did it hurt his ears because how loud the pop noise was; he could have been seriously injured by any glass debris that could of scattered around.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
