The power steering on my 2018 Honda CRV XE is sticky or sticks when I when I try to keep my CRV is the middle of the lane and/or change lanes a majority of the time on the freeway/highway. At times, the CRV will slides/drifts from one side to the other. The CRV is going in this week for an inspection / evaluation at a Honda dealership. There were no signs or warnings when I purchased the CRV from a private party. I will make the CRV for inspection.

"While driving my 2018 Honda CR-V (Mileage: 58,800), the vehicle experienced a sudden and total loss of power/stalling due to a fuel injector failure. This failure caused the vehicle to enter 'Limp Mode' on a high-speed roadway, creating an immediate risk of a rear-end collision as the vehicle could not maintain flow-of-traffic speeds. My Wife and I was just getting on the highway when this occurred. Research indicates this is a recurring manufacturing defect in the 1.5L Turbo engine (referenced in Honda TSB #22-002 and similar internal communications). This is a critical safety issue as the fuel system failure is unpredictable and occurs without prior warning, leaving the driver stranded in dangerous traffic conditions. Honda has not yet issued a safety recall for this VIN despite the widespread nature of the injector defects."

On October 2025 there was a mass incident in different areas of Queens NY in were airbags from Honda CRVs were stolen. The vehicle was sent to a body shop to have the airbag replaced but American Honda Motor Co., Inc does not have any available to distribute. We have reached out to them but there respond has been " We apologize for any inconvenince or delay this matter has caused you. Currently the part(s) ETA is to be determined." No dealer has extra parts and the part cant be found anywhere else. We are looking to get this resolved being that 3 months have now passed and there is no "ETA" of the part being available for costumers. It is not something that should be happening to a loyal costumer that has purchased a vehicle without having the option to get parts (as per American Honda they are not out of stock and they are manufacturing but they are just not available for distibution). In cases like this parts should be available to be replaced in cases of an emergency, let alone a safety part like an airbag.

All lights shown on monitor. ADAS system would not be functional. Went to dealer and checked for causes. Recommended to replace fuel injector, spark plug, and battery. Since battery was replaced in two months, vehicle only did the checking. However, the condition kept on after a few days. Spark plug was replaced a day before yesterday and the condition came back yesterday. Researched online and seemed like fuel injector needs to be clean or replaced. The repair cost over $2,000 and the condition is not safe. It is often shown up when you park and then going to start.

Blown head gasket leaked coolant in to cylinder. all warning alarms started rotating across dash, while all driver assist technology was also disabled. car then lost ability to accelerate, but kept running, and we were able to drive about one mile home at about 10mph. We towed car to Honda (it was always maintained by a honda dealership). Honda dealership confirmed blown gasket and replaced gasket and then injectors for $7,600 total repair bill. We did not see or receive the replaced parts. We have since learned that Honda is well aware of this particular design fault of their 1.5 engines from 2016 thru 2023 years. Even independent mechanics know of the trouble, as well as any internet search. we were totally unaware til now!

After my last oil change on October 29, 2025, I began noticing a persistent gasoline smell outside the car. Concerned, I took the vehicle to Prince Honda Tifton and explained the issue in detail. They inspected it but reported no leaks and said everything looked fine. However, the odor continued. Starting December 1, 2025, I began smelling gasoline inside the car, with a particularly strong odor when starting the engine. I believe this poses a serious health risk and a potential fire hazard while driving.

As I pushed the interior button on my vehicle to raise the back hatch, there was a winding noise that occurred & the door went down. I opened the back hatch with the button located near the rear license plate. as the hatch started making the loud winding noise going up, the left side hydraulic lifting mechanism shot through the roof of the car. I have contacted Honda several times & they said this is not a safety hazard. This mechanism could have shot out & impaired someone very easily. Other vehicles of the same have had this happen (please google it) & reported to Honda but they brush it off & close the case. This needs to be investigated to avoid injury to people in the future. The engine and cooling system failed. Coolant is leaking into the engine, causing misfires, loss of power, and potentially leading to complete engine failure. The vehicle is currently at Zimbrick Honda in Madison, WI, and the engine is available for inspection upon request. The vehicle suddenly lost power while driving in traffic on multiple occasions. Each time, the vehicle slowed down unexpectedly and could not accelerate, creating a risk of being rear-ended, losing control in traffic flow, or becoming stranded in an active traffic lane. This sudden loss of power posed a serious danger to me and other drivers around me. Zimbrick Honda, an authorized Honda dealership, inspected the vehicle and confirmed coolant intrusion into the engine, repeated misfires, and loss of power. Their diagnosis concluded that the engine has failed and must be replaced. The vehicle has been inspected by the authorized Honda dealership (Zimbrick Honda). American Honda reviewed my goodwill assistance request using the dealership’s diagnosis, but no separate manufacturer inspection was conducted. The vehicle has not been inspected by the police or insurance because no collision occurred. It remains at the dealership and is available for inspection. Before the complete engine failure, the vehicle experienced sudden loss of power, engine hesitation, and misfires. The check engine light appeared during the incidents. The first occurrence happened on August 19th, 2025, at approximately 109,356 miles.

Issue: Sticky or catching steering. I am having an issue with the steering sticking or catching when I make small turns with the steering wheel. It seems to be worse with turns less than 45° then complete 90° turns. It also seems to catch with smaller right turns then left turns. The steering seems to catch or stick with turns that are less than 45° or subtle adjustments to keep the car in the lane. I am concerned that at some point my wife or I will not be able to apply enough force to overcome the catch or sticking of the steering which will result in a crash, injury or death. The issue has become worse in the last few months and seems to be constant.

I paid over $2,000 for repair. Mechanic told me he had done this repair on so many CRV’s that Honda should issue a recall on the problem. I didn’t know about reporting this to NTSB until today.

Due to a faulty 1.5 engine, the head gasket prematurely failed which could have led to serious engine failure while driving, and an accident could have occurred, if the car had suddenly stopped while being driven. There were several warning lamps, but the warning lamps on this car sometimes go off for no reason and the car was not overheating. I assumed the car was just acting up again. When I let the car sit for a couple of days and the warning lamps were still on, I took the care to a service center where they diagnosed the problem. Honda is aware of the faulty 1.5 engine, but have not issued a recall. Replacement of the head gasket will be over $4,000.

I brought my vehicle to a Honda dealership for a recall repair for the fuel pump and it was observed that the vehicle was leaking coolant and oil. The mechanic determined that the head gasket needs to be replaced and this is documented and available for review. There were no warning lights or noticeable clues that there was a major engine malfunction occurring. If not for the recall repair it is likely the motor would have failed causing catastrophic damage from the head gasket issue. The repair is expensive and necessary to continue driving the vehicle. This engine failure is not typical of a honda product and was unexpected.

The car model year is 2018 and has 49,580 miles when it was taken to the Honda dealer for inspection. The steering wheel was 'sticking' as if it were in a groove. Turning the steering wheel became somewhat difficult. It was if the steering wheel needed to be turned with enough force to get it up and over the lip of the groove so the car would turn. It also made a ticking or cracking sound when turning the steering wheel. Dealer test drove the car and was able to duplicate the concern. They found the power steering rack assembly had failed and stated so on the invoice. The entire unit needed to be replaced, and a 4-wheel alignment would then be required. The cost of the unit was $5,813.75, and the cost of the alignment was $139.95. This is a serious safety issue when the steering rack assembly fails.
