I was driving In Milwaukee WI at about 5 mph and drover over a metal plate in the road that was covering road construction, there were no obstacles in front of my car but the emergency braking system flashed the brake warning light about 3 times then immediately applied the brakes full force and stopped the car very abruptly - thankfully we a had seat belts on and were going slow. If we had been going faster who know what would have happened. As I said there was nothing in front of the car it just emergency braked for no reason.

On April 21, 2023, I was driving on the interstate highway at 70 MPH. The outside air temp was 82 degrees. The inside temp was approximately 72. Without warning, the sunroof exploded. Had the inside shade not been in use, we would have been showered by broken glass while traveling at highway speed. There was no known previous damage to the glass. The vehicle has a current inspection.

Driving on freeway at approx 65 mph when the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) notification flashed on the dash, and the car automatically hard braked on its own, while my foot was on the gas.Only lasted a few seconds but I felt the lag and it resumed back to normal. This is my second experience of this happening since purchasing the car in February of 2022. The first time however, was at a much slower speed (>20mph), and I did not notice the ACC indication beforehand. The vehicle hard braked while in traffic but resumed back to normal seconds after. I believe the brake indicator flashed on the dash the first time , despite being a fair distance behind the vehicle in front of me. The incidents were approximately 1 year apart from each other.

Filed Apr 25, 2023NC

As I was driving on the interstate, heading to get gas because I had 25 miles left (according to my car's system), my car stalled from going about 70 mph. At the exact same time, I got warnings for what seemed like every system of the car. Luckily, I was able to get on the left shoulder before I stopped moving, but if traffic was worse or if I wasn't as close to one of the shoulders, I would've been stranded in a lane (or two) of the interstate. After I took my car to the dealership, they determined I had a bad fuel pump and that it needed to be replaced. Turns out that I didn't have 25 miles left; I had 0. I emailed Honda Customer Service, mentioning a prior recall they had for fuel pumps, but it seems that didn't include mine.

Over a period of time the electronic steering and rack & pinion became stiff and resistant to turns and lane changes. I called the Honda dealer and they confirmed that Honda has a partial recall for this issue but my car vin number was not part of the recall. I requested a call from their service department several times for a quote to repair it but they never returned my call. I had an independent mechanic check it and order the parts from Honda. He successfully repaired it. I also had to get the car alignment done after the repair. Everything has been working as it should after the repair. I spent $2407.50 for the steering repair and $105.00 for the alignment for a total of $2512.50.

Driving approximately 35mph at 6:30 pm while still daylight outside, the automatic braking system engaged for no reason, with the “brake” warning appearing on the dash. No other cars around thank goodness, but the unexpected, sudden braking was scary and I’m grateful no car was behind me, as I’m sure it could have resulted in a collision. I have not taken the car in as of yet to have the breaking system checked. I’m very concerned this could happen again and if it were to occur on a highway or bridge I don’t want to think of the possible outcome. Others with 2018 CR-V’s have reported similar incidents and it seems that Honda needs to address this matter now. I purchased this car in May 2022 with 33,000 miles on it, and I did so, due to the excellent reputation of Honda vehicles. They need live up to that reputation.

At 57000 miles, our SUV suddenly displayed a warning of “emission control problem”. Within a few miles of that, the car displayed virtually every warning message it has… something in the range of 20 different alarms. The onboard computer showed the problem to be 1 cylinder running too lean. The fix was to replace the fuel injector on that cylinder, but Honda now only sells the injector in sets of 4 for their 4 cyl engines. I ended up paying $1438 to have all the injectors replaced in a car that is not even 5 yrs old. This follows the replacement of a faulty A/C compressor for $2200 a year ago when the car had around 45000 miles. These kinds of premature failures are more and more common in Honda’s , and it’s clear Honda is doing nothing to address the issues if a car is out of the 36k mile warranty. Outrageous!!!!

I am so disppointed and frustrated. Exactly ONE year ago my 2018 CRV had power issues. Loss power, excessive and unsafe deceleration when driving on State Highway 20. Every warning light and driver assist notification light up on the dash. My car was jerking and I had to pull to the side of the road. Thankfully not to far from home and able to drive to the house but could not get over 20MPH. Took to the dealer, fuel pump replaced at MY COST. Here we are ONE yeat later and all dash board lights on again in similar fashion. Car is currently at dealer ship with noted need for fuel injectors. I find it peculiar and upsetting as having done research 2022 and now again 2023: there have been issues with fuel pump and fuel injectors reported on NHTSA, forums, to honda and articles about the recurrent issues with the 2018 CRV and Honda does not want to be responsible. There were some recalls of the 2018 CRV but my VIN# did not identify as one. The 2018 CRV has recurrent issues in this department. My car was part of the S/B 18-114 campaign to "fix" and issue reguarding the oil/fuel mixture and here my car is having issues that I feel are a result.

Component: Body Control Module (vehicle is sitting at the deanship). Safety of driver and 2 small children (6 year old and 18 month old) in back seat. First the remote start didn't work - that was okay, but driving down the highway 75South going home after pick up children the door locks kept going off and on, the windows kept going up and down (all windows). No warning whatsoever. However upon reading on internet the first sign of the body control module failure was when the battery kept dying and we replaced that at a cost of $200. Now we are told we can still drive the car while we wait for the part - which we are told could be 9 months to a year for the part, we would need to unhook the battery and hook it back up. Is this really what you tell a single mom, nursing student with two small children to do. What could happen if the wires a crossed and the car goes up in flames with children inside? Driving to work this morning approximately 6:40am, it was pretty dark out. Road conditions were fine (dry, no rain or snow, etc.). My CR-V automatically slammed on the brakes without warning for maybe 1/2 of a second and then released them as the screen flashed bright and then immediately kicked to an error about the auto-high beam detection system. Luckily there was no one behind me. There was one vehicle approaching me from the other side of the road but they did not have their high beams on. I was looking ahead the whole time and did not see any other errors before or after it happened, and I was applying the gas pedal the whole time as well. In case it's a contributing factor, my car is fairly dirty from road salt spray (dry) and I was going run it through the car wash this afternoon.

On multiple occasions, I have turned off my car and exited my car. The car would then turn back on by itself. Initially the dash would light up and an error message would appear saying key not found. I thought it was my key fob battery, so I replaced the battery and still received the message. I was unable to do anything with my car. This happened on several occasions, but each time it would eventually work. I then noticed that the dash kept coming on. When I would get home, I would park the car in the garage and turn the car off and go inside. I came out and noticed the lights were on and the dash lit up. I turned it off again and then sometimes it would stay off and other times it would come back on and I could not get it to turn off right away. Several times I would go to my car in the morning and my car battery was dead and I had to have my son-in-law jump my car or AAA had to come out so I could go to work. This went on for weeks until I realized it was because the car keeps turning back on on its own until the battery dies. After back and forth at the dealership and replacing other parts they thought were the issue, I am now told it is a faulty Body Control Module which caused my car to turn on in accessory mode. The part is on backorder, so I have had to borrow a car for the past couple months. My daughter has been researching the issue and found this to be a common problem with the car. We had just gotten off the freeway and were sitting at a stoplight. When the light turned green, all of a sudden several of the yellow warning lights on the dashboard started to flash: emergency braking, electronic parking break, tire pressure, lane-keep assist, and others. The car became sluggish and moved forward haltingly and slowly. It feels like the breaks or the parking break are cycling on and off. We pulled over as soon as we could. Turning the car off didn't clear the warning lights. We called AAA and they came and checked the battery -- which was at 100% and working fine. The parking break works fine; we can hear it turn on and off using the lever. We had it towed to a Honda dealer nearby and are having it evaluated. It is undriveable in this state, and we are concerned that even if the dealer gets the warning lights to shut off, it could happen again at any time. There are reports all over the NHTSA website that this is a common issue -- please investigate!

Perhaps, the electric parking brake may prevent you to go if connected, since you have no control of it (happened once). This is the second time in two weeks that this failure occurs. Collision mitigation braking system malfunctioned. We noticed alerts from the system when strong shadows appeared across the road such as from an overpass, heavy trees, etc. At first it was the "Brake" alert indicator only, on three known occasions. A couple weeks later, the car activated the collision mitigation braking system for no reason. We were travelling at 55 MPH on a country road with no vehicles, pedestrians, nor animals nearby. As we approached shadows from tall trees, the emergency braking activated suddenly, bringing the car to a complete stop. Thankfully no vehicles were behind us. Vehicle was brought to Honda dealership for service. Inspected the system and told us all components were properly aligned to manufacturer specifications. They were unable to determine why system malfunctioned. They advised "Honda is aware of the problem and working to find a solution." That was in October 2022. I checked with Honda service most recently on January 25, 2023 and they still have no solution. For our safety, we have been deactivating the system each time we drive the vehicle. This safety system not working is a problem, as is having to deactivate it on each drive. They need pressure to issue a recall and identify a solution.

The High Pressure Fuel Pump (16790-5PC-H02) failed on January 1, 2023 at approximately 11:10am in Seattle, WA. We were taking the interchange from WB SR 520 to SB I-5, which includes a short uphill section, when the engine lost power and completely stalled at the top of the ramp. No warning lamps or other symptoms appeared prior to failure. We were able to push the car and roll it through a gap in the concrete barrier into a vacant road construction site. Had the stall happened one minute later, my wife, our daughters aged 2 and 4, and I would have been stranded in heavy traffic in the number 1 lane of I-5 in an area with no safe shoulder. I cannot imagine how we would have avoided a serious collision in that case. We were not able to restart the car at that time and all repair shops appeared to be closed for New Year's Day, so we had the vehicle towed to our home. The vehicle started without apparent issue several days later, and we brought it to Sa-Go Auto Repair in Bellevue. The mechanic at Sa-Go was not able to immediately reproduce and advised us of fuel pump issues with the 2018 Honda CR-V. He directed us to have a dealer evaluate for recall repair. Honda of Bellevue was not able to reproduce the issue and suggested the stall may have been due to a dirty air filter, which they did not replace before returning the car to us. Honda has a serious problem with the brakes on the 2018 CRV. I purchased this vehicle new and I really expect better from Honda but they are not living up to the reputation they've had in the past. I don't trust the vehicle as I never know when it'll do it again.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
