All of the warning lights came up on my dash and stayed on for almost 24 hours on this most recent occasion of this problem indicating that there was all of the following: emissions systems problem, brake system problem, power steering system problem, VSA problem, hill start assist problem, adaptive cruise control, problem, road departure mitigation, and hill start assist problem. This was approximately the 5th time that this has happened. The problem occurred when I turned the car back on and started to drive after it had been turned off for 10 minutes. This problem seems to be triggered by 2 different events: either idling (like in a drive thru line for a long time) the car, or, after starting the car after it has been turned off of a short period of time. The previous incidence of this problem was on January 7, 2024.

Rack an pinion is breaking. This represents a safety risk while driving since the steering wheel at times does not have full control of the vehicle. Two local mechanic shops diagnosed rack and pinion defects and informed that it has been a recurrent issue in my car model.

About one month ago I began to notice an unusual “kicking” sensation in my vehicle’s steering wheel associated with a “clicking” sound. It has gotten worse since then. I brought my vehicle to my mechanic where a faulty electronic power steering assembly was diagnosed. I was informed by them that this is an issue with many of the Honda CRVs made in 2022 and prior. Mine is a 2018. The cost of the repair is several thousand dollars. I have been advised by my mechanic to avoid unnecessary driving, especially on the freeways as this assembly could fail at any time. The replacement part is apparently very difficult to get even from Honda dealerships.

Vehicle is flashing all kinds of repair needed signals. It is stalling and shutting off. It's not safe for me to drive. I'm elderly (disabled) and need to drive to get medicine and doctors appointments. The fuel pump is on recall and I can not wait until the fall to get the pump replaced. No Honda dealers have the pumps in stick yet. I need help ASAP. Thank you

SUDDEN PHANTOM BRAKING WITHOUT WARNING IN MY 2018 HONDA CRV. I WAS DRIVING ~40-45 MPH ON LOCAL RESIDENTIAL STREET I FREQUENTLY TRAVEL ON; SUNNY, DRY DAY, 55 DEGREES, NO ADVERSE WEATHER. NO VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME AND ONE TRUCK TO MY RIGHT SIDE IN HIS LANE. NO OBSTACLES IN LANE. MY CAR SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT ANY WARNING LIGHT AT ALL BRAKED EXTREMELY HARD TO A FULL STOP. EVERYTHING IN MY CAR WENT FLYING FORWARD. HUSBAND AND SMALL DOG WERE IN BACK SEAT; HAD HUSBAND NOT BEEN HOLDING OUR SMALL DOG, OUR DOG WOULD'VE FLOWN FORWARD. I HAD NOT APPLIED ANY BRAKING AT ALL, WAS SIMPLY DRIVING ON A STRAIGHT ROAD. THIS INCIDENT WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. HAD A CAR BEEN BEHIND ME, WE'D HAVE HAD SEVERE REAR-END COLLISION WITH POSSIBLE HARM OR LOSS OF OUR LIVES. I'M NOW READING ONLINE THAT THIS IS A HIGHLY DANGEROUS "GLITCH" THAT WAS INVESTIGATED AS "PHANTOM BRAKING" IN 2022 BY NHTSA, BUT NO RECALL EVER RESULTED -- HOWEVER, MAZDA AND TESLA EXPERIENCED SAME ISSUES IN 2022 AND RECALL WAS DONE WITH MAZDA VEHICLES. NOW I READ THAT AS OF MARCH 2024 A NEW NHTSA INVESTIGATION IS BEING DONE RE: HONDA PASSPORTS AND HONDA INSIGHTS. I DO NOT WANT TO BE DRIVING 70 MPH AND HAVE A HORRIFIC ACCIDENT THAT COULD KILL ME BECAUSE THIS HAS NOT BEEN DEALT WITH BY NHTSA FULLY! I CALLED MY HONDA DEALER WHEN I ARRIVED HOME AND HE GAVE ME HONDA NATIONAL CUSTOMER PHONE # AFTER BRUSHING OFF THE INCIDENT; SAID HE'S NOT HEARD OF THIS BEFORE. I TOLD HIM TO GOOGLE COMPLAINTS OF PHANTOM BRAKING IN 2018-2019 HONDA CRVS AND ACCORD

-The Collision Mitigation System (CMS). - The CMS system has deployed numerous times over the last six months (approximately) without warning for no reason. The last time, I was traveling at approximately 45-50 mph and without warning and with no car within 100 yards of my vehicle, the brakes were automatically applied taking my speed instantaneously down to less than 10 mph, creating a very unsafe situation, especially if there had been a car traveling closely behind. -The vehicle was brought to a Honda dealer who ran tests and said there were no code errors. I was told that if the system applied the brakes that it proves that it is working correctly, even though I argued that they may technically be working but not appropriately. -Yes it was seen at a Honda dealer. -There were no warning signals when this occurred. It was totally out of the blue and caused a whiplash affect. -In my opinion this is a very dangerous situation and luckily it has not been serious any of the times it has happened to date. I would hate for it to be serious in the future and cause serious or fatal injuries. Currently we have to manually shut off the CMS every time we are driving.

The vehicle began running rough Spring 2023 and all the lights on the dashboard lit up. The local mechanic did not identify any serious problem and the lights all going off seemed to be a separate issue since the whole dashboard was lit up. We continued driving it out of necessity and eventually it began stalling. Then we took it back to our mechanic who identified the fuel injectors as the issue and recommended that we take it to the dealership. We took it to the dealership and they charged $3000 for the fuel injector replacement and also did some minor recall repairs. When my husband drove it off the lot, it stalled again so he brought it back and identified that it still was not repaired. They then kept it for 2-3 more weeks and repaired the head gasket. We took it home and drove it for another 6 mths and then it stalled again when my husband was driving at 65mph on a bridge. He safely pulled over but the vehicle had trouble restarting as it had in Spring of 2023 from time to time when it was riding rough. This time there were no warning lights related to the issue. The dash now has some warning lights. We have not driven it since and the part for the fuel pump from Honda is not available until Fall 2024 so we are without a vehicle even though we paid for a new vehicle that we hoped would last us beyond 6 years.

The wiring harness that runs the electric lock on the back doors is faulty. I suspect it is because the wiring harness is too tight, and when the back doors are opened repeatedly it wears on the wires and eventually causes the wires to break. This means that the back door locks become manual locks. I think this is a mild safety issue because we have small children and it makes it difficult to get them in and out of the car. The problem was reported to the Honda dealership, and to an independent mechanic, both of whom reviewed the problem and confirmed it. The vehicle has not been inspected by Honda, the police, or insurance. There are no warning messages. The symptom is merely that the door lock ceases to function. This issue first appeared for us about five years after purchase of the vehicle (we purchased the vehicle new). We had the issue repairs once, and but it has happened again. When I google this issue, there are many forum posts with people experiencing the same issue (I would say it's a "known issue" for this vehicle).

I am currently shopping for a Honda CRV when I learned that the vehicle has an active recall that has yet to be addressed. When looking into it further and contacting the local Honda dealership, they notified me that they would be unable to handle my request for service (should I decide to purchase the vehicle) until sometime in the fall. It is currently March. Half a year is a long time to wait for repair to a vital system of the car I read so many positive things about. I called other Honda dealers in my area and received the same response for the issue. Am I crazy for thinking that half a year is a long time to wait for a fix to a problem that could immobilize my potential car every time I turn the ignition or even while I’m driving?

Earlier, I had raised a complaint on my vehicle where Automatic Emergency Break applied though there were no obstacles or objects in front of my vehicle. On [XXX] around [XXX] at the same spot [XXX], Matthews, NC 28105] where my other incident was reported 2 years ago was repeated again and sudden break applied though there were no objects in front of my vehicle. Luckily the other vehicle is little far behind my car, otherwise we would have hit by the car and have happened. I am my family including my toddler were really shocked with this sudden stop and luckily nothing had not happened, except a mental stress. We couldn't imagine what could have happened. May be god saved us. This was reported at [XXX], Matthews, NC 28105. There was an iron bridge to pass on, on the way to Michael's from Costco. There are some iron poles on the sides of the bridge, the sensor might have detected the poles on the sides of the bridge as humans/objects crossing the bridge and suddenly the brakes might have applied without any warnings. Just an assumption as the incident happened at the same spot and same time. With this another incident, I still doubt the security measures or the sensing features that were calculated for applying the AEB. I hope Honda will read this and come up with a better solution for owner's like us. Thank you! INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

While driving the entire driving assist system warnings started flashing (lane assist, blind spot, ACC, etc.) resulting in a solid system break light, with none of the safety features functioning. In addition to being very distracting while driving, had I not noticed the warning lights going off , I would not have known that the safety system was off. It is very easy to miss while focusing on driving in a rainy day like today. I am writing to you directly since the last time I emailed Honda about a confirmed SW bug that results in the screen going dark, they told me it is not a safety issue and requested $180 for a SW update. When your screen goes dark when you are driving after changing the brightness on its own, and you don't see the backing off warnings, or camera, I would say it is a safety issue. While I am not writing about this specific issue, I don't trust Honda to do an honest assessment. I am unaware if Honda researched this issue yet, but have seen reports online about this issue.

Please reference NHTSA recall # 23V-858. In the Remedy section of the NHTSA recall description it states, 'The dealer will replace the fuel pump module with an improved part.' The actual recall notice states 'The replacement parts needed to repair your vehicle are not currently available but are expected to be available in the fall of 2024'! Honda lists this as an IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL and failure of the pump may result in a crash or injury. I'll have to drive my CR-V for the next, at least, 6 months facing this possibility. NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
