Check engine and 11 other warning lights appear. Dealership reports it as faulty fuel injectors and driving should be avoided or limited. The repair is covered under an extended warranty as there is apparently a known issue with design of the parts used in manufacturing. The issue is no parts are available to repair it under warranty however dealership claims they can fix it for cost of about $1500 using “other fuel injectors.”

Vehicle suddenly shut down in traffic second time in a row within 4 days after it was supposedly repair by Honda dealer the first time. It was again my luck that the car engine shut down, suddenly stopped on a road, not on a highway which could result in serious injury to death as sudden stop would cause newsworthy bad crash to my vehicle from oncoming high speed traffic that follows my vehicle. Problem was traced to the latent defective wire harness bundle that runs from the front to the rear of the vehicle throughout the floor board. I believe normal vehicle road vibration during my four years of driving in the high traffic Los Angeles region (a measly 27,700 miles) introduced flexing to the wire harness at certain portion of the latent defective wire harness bundle. The latent defect in the wire harness bundle surfaced its ugly head finally since I own the car new in March, 2019. A segment of the spider wire harness bundle that has the latent intermittent defect disconnected internally to cause the control signal to the fuel pump assembly to stop fuel pump to the engine. Consequently, the vehicle engine shut down, stopped suddenly in traffic again the second time due to lack of fuel. The large spider wire harness bundle was replaced on May 9, 2023. The vehicle is operating properly so far. Clearly this is not a wear and tear issue. It is a latent defective wire harness bundle supplied to Honda by the Honda subcontractors who fabricated the wire harness bundle for the facto

Honda technician discovered connector to the fuel pump assembly was disconnected. His statement is: Technician found a softset connection on the fuel pump assembly. The vehicle computer did not produce vehicle malfunction message. It was confused with no input from the fuel pump assembly. The vehicle computer displayed many erroneous messages on the dashboard. It shut down the engine suddenly in traffic. If the vehicle was driven on the highway, a very serious accident perhaps resulting in death can occur when vehicle suddenly stops in high speed traffic. I believe this is manufacturing error with poor quality control. Honda needs to beef up the quality control, furthermore redesign the vehicle computer to send error messages to the driver, do a soft coast of the vehicle when connection to the fuel pump assembly is not engaged.

The motor vehicle due to these issues randomly would lose power to the point where stepping on the gas doesn't not accelerate the car, forcing me to stop in the middle of the highway having other vehicles stop suddenly and swerve around me with children in the vehicle. Another occasion going up a hill the car beings to stutter losing power resulting to the car shutting off, forcing me engage These reoccurring issues have also randomly caused the vehicle to not start. Multiple warning signs are lit across the dashboard. These occurrence are random with no warning sign The vehicle has been brought to the same dealership numerous times claiming each issue was fixed but within a few weeks more issues came. On April 7 at 1230p I was driving about 45 mph on Lindbergh Blvd in Creve Coeur. As I was moving into a construction area there was a sign to lower speed to 35. I lowered my speed with my brakes and at the same time traveled over a metal plate on the road. After I let up on the brakes there was an immediate very jarring breakage done without my foot on brake as I went over the plating. The abrupt braking was so severe that all of the belongs on both front passenger and back seats all fell to the floor. There is no doubt in my mind that if there was a car behind me they would ran right into me. After going over the plating the braking system was released and my regular driving ability resumed. I would be afraid to try to reproduce this problem. Since owning the car I have had about 5 less severe problems with this automatic braking system on this same road with the system sensing something that was not there (I thought it was a policeman's radar) with a very very short and less severe automatic braking. I did not not notice any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem .

I down loaded my update through the radio. It said complete. I went into the house and the next morning I started it and a bunch of warning lights were on and have stayed on. I can not use some of the buttons on the drivers door, I can not use my key fob unless it is touching the start stop button, I can not open the trunk, the gas cap will not open, and most of all I have lost some power to the interior fuse box. This car is only 5 years old almost to the date and it has had multiple recalls already. I want the BCM reprogrammed and fixed so all this will go away.

I have taken my Honda because of engine misfiring. They said there is coolant seeping in the pistons and we red a new engine gasket and the cost is $4,000. All the warning lights are turning on and alerting the driver but when I took it in and paid $380 they can’t figure out why these are turning on. The fuel injectors and belt are another item that has been alerted to being an issue. These are problems my 20 year old car has not encountered and this is a 2018. The airbags warning has been an issue at least once every few months.

The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, there were abnormal rattling sounds coming from the rear of the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who informed the contact that the failure was a known manufacturer defect; however, the dealer informed the contact that they could not repair the vehicle. Additionally, the contact stated while driving 45-60 MPH, the driver's side-view mirror detached from the mirror housing. The contact panicked as he had lost visibility of incoming traffic. Additionally, the forward collision avoidance sensors ceased to function as needed. The contact was unable to veer to the side of the road, and he pushed back the mirror into position while driving. The contact stated that upon reaching his destination, he attempted to secure the side-view mirror in the housing but was unable to. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who advised the contact to push the side-view mirror back into place whenever the failure occurred. The dealer also informed the contact he would be charged for the repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure occurred 5-7 times within two years. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 36,000.

Door locks don’t work with fob intermittently. Often times, failure door can only be locked/unlocked manually by toggled physical mechanism, or by use of key, never buttons or fob. Passenger using said door would have difficulty opening door in the event of emergency, or at least delayed in doing so trying to find the toggle. Issue has not be replicated by either dealer or other professional. Issue has been ongoing for 6 months, but recently one of the door has failed completely so I will be going back to dealer tomorrow. The infotainment unit on the 2018 Honda Accord does not properly sync up with a music player (such as any given phone) over Bluetooth. This is manifested by the incorrect display of the time the music track that has been played. Honda has been unwilling to properly address the issue via a recall or a software update. Their typical response (to just about every issue) is to take it to the dealer, who is not able to properly troubleshoot and address issues which were caused by the Honda's failures in software (and hardware) development. Ad video of the issue is available (Honda dealer and Honda pretty much refuse to take the videos as an evidence of the issue).

The vehicle's safety system (not sure if it's the camera mounted behind the windshield or something else) will periodically interpret a road speed sign as showing 100mph speed limit. This has happened before and will have happened again (I am filing this complaint after some time has passed). As with a number of other issue with the 2018+ Honda models, Honda's response has been "take it to the dealer" while the dealer's mechanic drives the car for an hour, does not see the issue and then claims that nothing is wrong with the vehicle. The CMBS (Collision Mitigation Braking System) had another failure. This is due to the Radar Sensor being blocked and then other safety systems in the vehicle having cascading failures. In the winter of 2019, the Radar Sensor had failed catastrophically and I had to take the vehicle in to the dealer where they, supposedly, performed some sort of an adjustment. During a phone call with a Honda representative, the representative claimed that "this would never happen again." However, what happens now is I get an error message claiming that there is a failure in the CMBS system, every time the Radar Sensor is blocked, directing me to "take the vehicle to the dealer." Hence, she lied. Furthermore, the failures indicate Honda's failure in producing a safety system that is reliable in a wide range of weather conditions. Honda CEO recently claimed that Honda will be producing Level 3 autonomous vehicles. That is horrifying, considering Honda can't even make a CMBS and a Radar Sensor that does not fail constantly. Please, please, please make Honda recall ALL the models which use the Radar Sensor and the CMBS that is similar to the one in the 2018 Accord before someone gets really hurt. Please.

The CMBS (Collision Mitigation Braking System) had another failure. In this case, there was "phantom braking", whereby the car abruptly applied breaks without an abstruction in fron of the vehicle. I have filed several complaints with NHTSA and, yes, "have taken the vehicle to the dealer" more than once for issues with the CMBS, to no avail. Not only that, but since then, there has been a class action lawsuit against Honda for the related issue(s). Yet, NHTSA still has not issued a recall on all the CRVs, Accords, Pilots and Odysseys which all use similar version of this system.

The hood on the 2018 Honda Accord vibrates at highway speeds (not a little, but significantly). Two separate body specialists tried to make adjustment which resulted in slightly better fit, but still, the hood vibrates (again, not a little, but an unsettling amount) at highway speeds. Honda already has a known issue with the Pilot model's hood: https://honda.oemdtc.com /711/hood-flutter-or-vibration-at-highway-speeds-2016-2019-honda-pilot-2017-2019-ridgeline And now, 2018+ owners are starting to complain about the hood stability at higher speeds as well. When I had initially raised the issue with American Honda, they ignored it (and, as they always do, told me to go to the dealer). Since then, Honda has done nothing to truly address the problem. An investigation (and a possible recall) should be initiated.

The vehicle had a very violent shift (perhaps it was turbo lag related?) at low speed (under 20 miles per hour - typically, this happens in a parking lot or the like as you slowly drive away). This has been mentioned to the dealer, numerous times, who claims that the issue is not reproducible.

Service Brakes
Filed Mar 19, 2023CO

The 2018 Accords have a system called "Brake Hold" which is intended to engage the braking system while a vehicle is stopped at, say, a stop-light. The intent seems to be to allow the driver to have their foot on the gas, instead of the brake pedal. The Brake Hold system frequently has an issue where it allows the vehicle to creep. This, generally, seems to happen in colder temperatures. Another, pattern of behavior is when the vehicle has been brought to a slow roll, then stopped (using the brake pedal) and as soon as the brake pedal is release, the Brake Hold system fails to hold the vehicle in the stopped position. After a significant delay, the Brake System is engaged, but the vehicles had, at that point, lurched forward several inches, if not over a foot. This indicates (just as with the Collision Mitigation System delays, discussed in other complaints) that there is a significant issue with the timing of the control system utilized in the Brake Hold, the sensor(s) or both, where the system fails to detect the conditions in real time and reacts in a delayed manner. Again, as with other issues on the later Honda models, Honda has failed to perform comprehensive troubleshooting of the issue (even after me taking the vehicle to the dealer as indicated by Honda. This is a complaint for a separately occurring instance of this issue.

I've filed the specific issues in other complaints, but also wanted to input this for a record. After taking the card to the dealer, the dealer DID NOT address any of the following: Right door speaker rattle Engine squeak (when shutting off) Hood vibration Did not troubleshoot the smell coming from the ventilation system. Did not apply the fix (if there was one) for the infotainment unit restarting abruptly. Did not look at as to why the display shows 100mph speed limit when there is no such thing in the the state of Colorado (that I know of and certainly not where I was driving when this happened). Did not look at why the aux display has issues Did not look at Bluetooth connectivity issues. Did not look at problems with radar and the CMBS system. Of course, the usual response is "we drove it for an hour (if that) and did not see anything."

Engine
Filed Mar 19, 2023CO

When the engine is shut down, there is a squeak (have not been able to pinpoint the source). However, prior history on the vehicle considered, wanted to make a record. The vehicle has always had a burning smell to it and, at one point, a dealer's mechanic did replace the head gasket, claiming that was the source of the burning smell. However, the burning smell still persists and I've been wondering if something more serious is going on (as one mechanic did say, there is a possibility of the turbo burning oil due to some defect). Hence, the squeak is suspicious due to that.

Visibility › Defroster/Defogger/Hvac System
Filed Mar 19, 2023CO

Defrost on the 2018 Honda Accord seems to have an intentionally compromised design whereby the vent underneath the windshield was made too small and does not deliver sufficient airflow in order to maintain sufficient visibility in colder/wetter conditions. This, in turn, compromises the safety as the visibility is severely compromised.

This is a complaint for a unique occurrence of this problem on this date. In some instances, it seems that the ventilation system is potentially pulling noxious fumes in from the engine bay and in others, there seems to be an issue with moisture retention when AC is run. The vehicle seems to force foul smelling air in to the cab. Honda has failed to properly troubleshoot the issue (i.e. retain the vehicle for more than a few hours and try to understand if there is an issue with the ventilation system or something else).
