LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL! 11 May 2017, driving highway 5 to LA, speed control on at 72 MPH. Suddenly car veered to the left, all over both lanes. I was unable to get the car to drive straight. The car continued to swerve left then into the right lane causing it to spin backwards off the highway and into the dirt. I still was unable to stop the car as it continued to roll over. I was upside down and trapped inside the car. COMPLAINT WAS FILED IN 2017.

Automatic Breaking System activated upon approaching overhead signs and metal type overpasses. This caused the vehicle to reduce speed significantly on highways and toll roads. Issue not inspected or confirmed by any garage or dealer as it’s random and hard to duplicate. Brake warning and collision lights activate upon false detection. Issue has been occurring randomly since we purchased vehicle. Dealer identified no recall for system issue.
I am experiencing electric power steering loss on my 2014 Honda Accord LX. Every time I make a sharp turn to pull into a parking space the electric power steering cuts out. And then comes back on when I stop turning the steering wheel. This happened to me about 3 or 4 times with the last incident happening to me today. Now a check engine light is illuminated. There were no lamps illuminated prior to this. When the steering cuts out I can't control the car as the steering is frozen and it is too hard to turn the steering wheel and can easily cause an accident. I am going to bring it to the dealer ASAP.
When trying to start the vehicle, sometimes the starter functions and sometime it doesn't. The car key has to be pulled out and inserted again and maybe this will start the car. After researching on line, this seems to be a common problem, but a recall has not been issued for this. This problem happens even after installing a new battery. Thank you
The contact owns a 2014 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while their family member was driving at 20 mph and attempting to make a left turn when the vehicle suddenly began to pull to the left independently. The driver ended up making a U-turn due to the failure and was on the other side of the road when the vehicle crashed into a tree. The air bag did not deploy. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed, however, they were still waiting on the status of the vehicle's condition. The driver sustained bruising to chest area and medical attention was needed. The contact stated that they believed their issue related to NHTSA Investigation EA21001. The contact had not spoken to the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 15, 000.
A strange thing occurred while I was dropping my grandchildren to school on 3/30/22 at 8:45 AM. After dropping off the kids, as I started the car in the car drop off lane, there was no acceleration despite me hitting the accelerator, the car would not accelerate, and cars exiting the school parking lot backed up behind my car. Suddenly, the car accelerated in an uncontrolled manner on its own, brakes did not work, and all warning lights on the side of the dashboard came on. I steered the car towards an empty area and was ready to crash it into an obstacle to bring it to a stop. I tried to put the car in park but despite putting it in park, the car continued its acceleration forward. I also tried to turn off the car by hitting the start/stop button but the car would not turn off. The car accelerated uncontrollably for at least 0.3 miles. After this uncontrolled and automatic acceleration, the car came to a stop. I had the car towed to the Honda dealership. Honda dealership advisor told me that there was no recall on this model. However, a quick search on car message boards shows that this phenomenon of sudden and uncontrolled acceleration has been reported on 2014, and 2015 and 2016 Honda Accord model year cars as well. Fortunately, no children or their parents in the school were injured this time. I hope you will direct the Honda dealership to identify and fix the problem. I am afraid to drive the car without understanding the reason for this frightening experience. Dealershi
The problem is with the ignition starter, I had it replaced in January 2022 because sometimes the car did not start when pressing the ignition starter there was a grinding noise. All other functions worked, headlights, radio, signals etc. but the car did not start. If the battery was jumped then the car started so there is power going to the car. After the replacement I had no issues until Sunday 3/27/2022 when I went to start my vehicle and got the grinding noise again. The cost was $550.00 to put in a new starter. Now this issue is all over Honda's website with complaints, so why hasn't anything been done about it? The wires need to have protection on them because of corrosion caused by winter conditions in the north where there is salt used on the highways. I feel a recall should be done on these models.
Ignition starter, I replaced the starter in January 2022, now it is doing the same - not starting sometimes. So many complaints on this issue and still no recall, why?
2014 Honda Accord on its 3rd starter replacement, my last one only lasted 2 years. This is absolutely ridiculous this isn’t a recall because of how many complaints there are on this model and the fact that this is a Honda vehicle. Very disappointed. Will never buy a Honda again.
The black parts of the front grill is melting.
It stated forward collision warning failed, all lights popped up.
Driving home from work on an icy road, the Steering Failed. The Car would not turn left or right, I was on a highway, driving at 55 mph and had to stop the car. The dashboard lit with a Steering Fault indicator, After the failure. My safety was greatly endangered by the sudden failure, with no steering control I have had the entire steering rack replaced by my local repair shop. The selling dealer was not interested in any concessions to me, nor any admission of an existing service bulletin. I have the failed steering rack in my possession
Starter Grinds or Spins at Startup: The starter grinds or spins at startup resulting failure in cranking up the vehicle. This issue first appeared around 70K mileage. This is an intermittent problem that now is happening more frequently in recent times. It puts safety at risk in ALL emergency situations. Reference: Honda TSB 16-002
The EPS system has an issue that caused my car to stop on the highway. I was able to move to the side of the road but the car was jerking back and forth. The engine light and tire pressure sensor also infighter.
The contact owns a 2014 Honda Accord. Upon investigation, the contact discovered that the engine was consuming approximately 2 quarts of oil in between oil changes. The contact called the dealer where the vehicle was bought however, there was no response. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed him that there was no recall on the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.
The front axles of my front wheel drive car are rusting. The NHTSA has issued a safety recall for this problem (Recall Number 20V-769, MFR Campaign ID: W9F, Campaign Description: 2013-2015 Accord Driveshaft Inspection Safety Recall, Recall Date: 12/18/2020). Honda issued a service bulletin (#20-125), however my VIN number is not included in this recall. This is a dangerous situation if one of the axles were to fail at a high speed (I drive about 100 highway miles per day, M-F). I filed a request with Honda to include pay for the repair to my car, but today (2/2/22) they declined my request because the VIN number is not included in the safety recall. I have pictures of the rust on each axle and have a certified Honda mechanic's report (from the Honda dealership where I bought the car) that recommends both front axles be replaced due to this problem
Windshield wiper motor has failed at approximately 26k miles. I own a 1997 chevy k1500 with 217k miles and the windshield wiper motor has never been replaced and still works. For my Honda to have this low of mileage and have this failure rate, I'm unsure of how to repair. Cannot find an aftermarket part at any of the local parts stores and am unsure of using factory remanufactured because of the failure rate being so soon, I don't trust the remanufactured and they never have good warranties and generally high in price from Honda.
Abs module faulty causing abs light, brake light traction light power steering light and tpms light to all be on. A car pulled out in front of my car and as I attempted to brake the car it wasn't responding causing a very bad accident and totally my car due to poor handling and the inability to stop the vehicle
The power steering stops working while driving and steering becomes very difficult. The power steering warning light also goes on. Honda Repair in San Rafael has had my car 3 times for repair, and they also replaced the power steering at no charge. Unfortunately, the problem persists. As far as I know, Honda has not been able to reproduce the problem. It happens after at least 30 minutes of driving. When I stop the car and turn it off the problem clears. 1/23/22 was the last time it happened to me. The car is with Honda Repair now.
My Honda Accord 2014 only has 55,5000 miles . For the last 3 months the starter is not working proper. In the last 3 months l had the battery changed, the rely switch changed. Still the problem was still there. Then a new started was installed on 1/ 18/22 . Many people with less miles are complaining about the started in their Honda Accord, and Honda is not recalling the starter. I am a single woman and l feel, l am, and everyone is being taken advantage of. My first and last Honda. I am shocked about the lack of service with Honda. My starter total cost with labor was almost $400.00
I am having starter issues with my vehicle. I have taken great care of this vehicle and started having issues with the car last year. I replaced the starter because it would not start back, if I turned the car off while running errands ( shopping or filling up with gas). I have now replaced the starter 3 times, and replaced the ignition switch and batteries. I have run every possible diagnostic at the dealership and at local mechanics in my city. I am concerned that I am reading that many drivers across the USA are facing this issue and the dealership cannot fix it or the local repair shops.
My car exhibited the identical problem described in TSB# 10152446. When I reported it to Honda, they said my vehicle doesn't qualify because the VIN # does not fall within the range of vehicles covered. This is a very obscure, specific and costly failure/repair. The fact that other identical vehicles (Make, year, and specific model) are covered suggests to me that the method used to determine which cars to cover was in error. What do I need to do to have this investigated?
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, STALLING, AND BRAKING HARD THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING, VEHICLE STABILITY ASSIST, FORWARD COLLISION WARNING, ANTILOCK BRAKING SYSTEM, LANE DEPARTURE WARNING AND PARKING BRAKE INDICATOR LIGHTS ALL ACTIVATED. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MY MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED A FAULTY VSA MODULATOR CONTROL UNIT. WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO ORDER THE PART WE WERE INFORMED THAT THE PART IS BACKORDERED 3-6 MONTHS.
Electric power steering light came on just after vehicle startup. Steering was very difficult. When I attempted to turn the wheel, it shook and vibrated regardless of whether I was stopped or moving. Felt dangerous to drive because of the lack of control. In an attempt to resolve the issue, I stopped and started the vehicle several times, and the problem seemed to resolve after the 4 6th or 7th restart. I was then able to drive with no further incidents over a 25 miles drive with many turns. Now the next morning the warning light is back on, and the steering is once again very difficult and shaky. I've attempted dozens of stops and restarts, with rest periods between, but no luck in getting the power steering to work again.
Dashboard lights like pinball game intermitemly includes abs, traction control, fcw, ldw, low tire warning, brakes and steering. dealer found vsa solenoid valve failing, pcm malfunction, modulator control circuit voltage low. need to replace vsa assembly for $2000.00 this valve controls all major safety systems. honda forums finds multiple failures of this . codes set include 121-1, 61-11, and 83-11. failed part still on car. took honda customer service to confirm that would cover repair. car is driveable without safety systems but how safe.
My son and I were involved in a hit and run car accident last night my car was hit from both front and back, my son was sitting passenger and his airbag deployed however my drivers side air bag did not deploy during time of incident or at all.
The contact owns a 2014 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while his wife was driving, there was an odor of smoke detected in the rear seat. The driver pulled over, opened the trunk, and noticed flames emerging from the mat. The vehicle was engulfed in flames within fifteen minutes. There were no reported injuries. The vehicle was towed to an independent lot. A police report was filed. The fire department was on the scene to extinguish the fire. The local dealer was contacted but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact had previously had an aftermarket alarm system removed from the local dealer. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.
Inexplicably and randomly, the FCW comes on the 2014 Honda Accord Ex-L. It is accompanied by most the other lights in the dashboard coming on (ex. lane departure, anti lock brakes, power steering, Traction control. When you turn car off and wait, the system seems to fix itself and all is fine until it recurs. It's very scary. My mechanic diagnosed and spoke to Honda who advised replacement of Honda ABS Control Module/Modulator Assembly. This is a very expensive part (approx. $1300) and unavailable at Honda. The concern is the safety situation plus the fact that this is a wide problem impacting so many other customers. I came upon this Honda forum where so many customers are having an identical problem to mine: https://www.driveaccord.net/threads/fcw-system-failure-message.77644/page-11#post-6861865 I'm requesting that this issue be investigated and Honda issue a recall and help customers such as me mitigate this problem. My son drives this car and I'm scared for him as safety features are disable when the electrical problem happens and then it fixes itself until the next time. On 11/18/2021 afternoon, once I turned on the engine, the steering was so tight and did not move at all. After that, the EPS yellow light indicator was appeared, so I turned off the engine and turned on again. However, the same symptoms appeared again, so I called the tow and dropped off my car at the body shop. After the body shop diagnosed my car, they said it might happen because of the software error and recommend to bring the car to the dealer since the malfunction issue is related with the software. So, I called the tow again and the towing company dropped my car at dealer on Sat. (11/20/2021). I went to dealer service center on Monday (11/22/2021) and the technician diagnosed that this was related to electronic power steering computer system (because the computer is so bad) not related to with the software of the driveshaft recall service (we got driveshaft recall service from this dealer a month ago) Since the steering is the main part of the driving, if it's malfunctioned, it will lead the serious injuries to drivers, passengers, and other drivers. This problem diagnosed by the dealer service center technician. No, it was not inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance or other, but I called American Honda and explained about the issue. However, they just said because it's out of warranty, they can't pay the service. The car has been only 6 years and I never ever heard from other nor had have experience that the steering was not move because of the bad EPS compu
THE STARTER IS MALFUNCTIONING AND THE VEHICLE WILL NOT START
The vehicle associated with the subject VIN is a 2014 Honda Accord Plug-in Hybrid. The high voltage battery has deteriorated substantially from the time the car was purchased by us as a new car. Specifically, (i) the high voltage battery no longer is capable of taking a full charge; and (ii) the high voltage battery does not hold a charge. Judging from (i) the car's dashboard gauge indicating level of charge; (ii) the dashboard gauge indicating miles of EV driving available; and (iii) actual miles that the car will drive in EV mode it is clear that the high voltage battery is more likely than not deteriorated to less than 50% compared to when it was new. Because the Plug-in Accord relies on the high voltage battery and can not function without the high voltage battery this level of deterioration presents a safety risk. Honda has issued a technical bulletin regarding the unexpected deterioration of these high voltage batteries. However, given the critical role these high voltage batteries play a recall seems in order.

While driving on freeway at 65 miles an hour power steering went out for a few seconds and cause me to veer out of lane. Luckily no one was in the lane next to me. Several time when pulling into parking space and making a sharp right or left turn the steering will have the same issue. The car has not been taken to a dealer and no warning lights or other symptoms appear prior to the failure. The issue on the freeway was the week of 11/15/2021. The other issue has been happening for several months. This is a very serious safety issue and could result in death of me or my children and grandchildren. i am very hesitant to drive this car on the freeway which is very inconvenient.

The contact owns a 2014 Honda Accord. The contact stated while the vehicle was being inspected by an independent mechanic, she was informed that the engine was leaking oil and needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that after the inspection while driving 40 MPH, she started to hear an abnormal sound. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to another independent mechanic and was referred to the local authorized dealer for assistance. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 58,000.
The car randomly doesnt want to start. Its not the only time its happen. It has happened at least 15 times and i had only had this car for like 4 months
Starter not working all the time. Will not start engine. Constantly doing oil changes. Battery replacements too often. Won’t start.
After a minor accident, once turned off, the car would not restart for about 20 minutes. All dash lights flicker and there is a clicking sound. Insurance company will not cover assessment or any repair as they say it cannot be linked to the loss, even though I never had issues with this prior to the accident and it was reported in my accident claim. No issues show on a diagnostic test, but I continue to experience issues with the start button connection. I can hold the brake and press the start button but either have to hold it for 20 - 30 seconds while it clicks or goes dim (while you can hear things trying to happen in the engine), or the brake/start button must be applied multiple times to get it to start. I also think that power is beginning to flicker during driving and now I'm really afraid. I have 105,000 miles.
The contact owns a 2014 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the steering wheel locked up. While reversing and starting the vehicle, the steering wheel failed to operate as needed. There was unknown warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

A sensor in the ABS module has failed, and has caused FCW, LDW, ABS, TCS to all not work. Honda wants me to replace the module, but says the parts on back order for forseeable future and that they can’t do anything for me. How can 1 part cause the failure of so many safety systems? How can they not stock this important repair part? Everytime I drive, my safety and the safety of those around me is compromised, and Honda’s solution given to me from the dealer was to call back in 3 months to check if the part can be ordered. (And then pay $2000 to have it installed)
I just happened to be outside today, and noticed and discovered body rust on the rocker panels (both sides) near the rear doors (below doors and in front of rear tires). This would have had to begun a while ago, for me to be just now noticing visible rust and rust-bubbles today. I have also discovered this is a habitual rust issue specific to Honda and the Accord going back several generations, and apparently also habitual front-end frame and/or sub-frame rust issues. For the times I have had it at a Honda dealership service department, and their supposedly "vehicle inspection" to have been included with each service, no person at a Honda dealership service department ever mentioned any rust whatsoever. I purchased my Accord new in 2014, and has approximately 47,000 miles on it today (which of course, factory warranty has expired). It would seem obvious to me that Honda themselves had to always be aware of this type of issue. As I also discovered today via internet searching, that rust has been a Honda Accord issue for over 20 years. Their dealerships ought to be recommending, suggesting, or offering rust protection/rust preventative be applied when buying a new Honda (for a cost to the consumer of course). "Paint Protection" that come with new Hondas, isn't going to take care of nor prevent rust issues. I can't say I've ever been happy nor impressed with my Accord, and all the times I've had it at a dealership service department and mentioned the door wind/door window noise
Total loss of steering control which happened suddenly without warning. Traveling at 70 MPH on US 75 20 miles south of Naples Florida. Car suddenly steered hard right. Unable to control steering. Collided with guard rail, then car turned hard left, crossed 3 lanes of interstate and came to stop in grass median. Turned off engine, turned it back on, then car was able to steer normally. It was lucky that there were no cars around me at the time. Accident happened at 12:30 PM 10/11/21. There were 2 people in car. Passenger side airbags deployed. Neck soft tissue injury to one person. Travelers insurance unable to arrange towing in timely fashion, so I pried the right rear fender away from the tire, with a Jack handle. Drove slowly to Honda in Naples, FL. They sent me to Supreme Auto Collision in Naples, where the car is located now. They have asked Honda to inspect it.
CAR HAS 85,000 ON 2014. RECENT ISSUES INCLUDE DEFECTIVE STARTER AND REAR BRAKE CALIPER. ALSO REAR TIRES SPIN IF ROAD IS DAMP EVEN WITH ANTI SERVE ENGAGED AND GOOD TIRES. PREVIOUS ISSUES INCLUDE BATTERY COMPONENT RECALL AND AXEL RECALL. DID I BUY A LEMON?
The contact owns a 2014 Honda Accord. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was experienced twice. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.
Starting grinding problem started 2 year ago check the battery changed the started and it continued to grind researched it online and found a Service Bulletin 16-002 that was released by Honda on August 11, 2017 which states rotate torque converter 1 bolt and i did that also changed the started again seemed to work for few months and now it started grinding again. It looks like Honda is aware of this issue and their not willing to recall the vehicles. This is ridiculous. HONDA OWN UP TO YOUR MISTAKES AND RECALL THE VEHICLES.
Vehicle abs modulator failed this looks like known issue with multiple complaints on the site but no action is being taken this a huge safety hazard for all consumers. I have all lights on in my dashboard and I have realized my abs brakes failing numerous times while driving in slippery conditions. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD AND HONDA IS DOING ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ABOUT IT!
There are thousands for Honda Accord owners who bought model 2014 onwards have engine oil burning issue and mostly they ask to replace PCV Valve which does not make any difference even though you replace it or not. There are so many YouTube videos on it. I am also facing same issue. I bought used pre owned car , if I knew this issue I would have never bought that car. I have to change engine oil after every 1500 miles. Normally it’s best to replace engine oil after 3000-5000 miles. I will request NHTSA to take some action against Honda. It’s not for just my safety it’s about safety for all Honda Accord owners. Please do something

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
