Defect. Daimler Trucks North America, LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2022-2025 Freightliner Business Class M2, 2022-2027 FCCC XCM, FCCC XCR, 2023 Freightliner 108SD, 2024-2027 FCCC XCS and FCCC XBS vehicles equipped with certain Cummins L9 diesel engines. The remote fuel filter hoses may separate from the fitting, causing a fuel leak and an engine stall.
Risk. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire. An engine stall increases the risk of a crash.
Remedy. Cummins will replace the fuel hoses, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 20, 2026. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712 or Cummins customer service at 1-800-286-6467. DTNA's number for this recall is F1042.

The axle clamp fasteners may be loose, which can result in a loss of vehicle control.
Risk. A loss of vehicle control increases the risk of a crash.

Defect. Fontaine Modification Company (Fontaine Modification) is recalling certain 2022-2024 Freightliner Business Class M2 vehicles. Welds may crack and fail, allowing the Intermediate steering shaft assembly to detach from the steering column.
Risk. A steering shaft that detaches can result in a loss of steering, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy. Fontaine Modification will replace the intermediate steering shaft, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed September 3, 2025. Owners may contact Fontaine Modification customer service at 1-800-366-8246.

The brake lights may not illuminate when the brakes are automatically applied during an active brake assist (ABA) event.
Risk. Brake lights that fail to illuminate can fail to indicate to other drivers that the vehicle is slowing down, increasing the risk of a crash.

The vehicle is equipped with an electronic stability control system and tire combination that may understeer during a J-turn. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 136, "Electronic Stability Control Systems on Heavy Vehicles."
Risk. Understeering during a J-turn may increase the risk of a crash.

The vehicles are equipped with tires that are not compatible with their 8.25-inch rims. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 120, "Wheels and Rims-Other Than Passenger Cars."
Risk. Driving with tires that are not compatible with their rims can reduce tire performance, increasing the risk of a crash.
