While driving under 35 mph the steering is very stiff and it takes a lot of effort to turn the wheel

While driving my cars steering wheel locked up and would not turn. Consumer took it to the local dealership and was told that the power steering motor went completely out and no recalls indicated for the vehicle.

The power steering assist and traction control have failed. The vehicle is available for inspection at any time. The safety of myself and passengers as well as other drivers on the road were affected by the failure to properly control the vehicle due to the power steering assist and traction control failing. The problem has been reported, reproduced and confirmed by Ford Motor Company. Ford is refusing to diagnose or remedy the failure with the excuse that the recall 15s18 (NHTSA Campaign: 15v340000) is VIN-specific even though Ford’s website states: “ Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 Ford Fusion vehicles without a 3.5L engine and Lincoln MKZ hybrid electric vehicles, 2011 Mercury Milan vehicles, 2011-2012 Ford Taurus, Ford Flex, Lincoln MKS, and Lincoln MKT vehicles equipped with a 3.5L GTDI engine and 2013 Ford Taurus, Ford Flex, Lincoln MKS, and Lincoln MKT vehicles equipped with any available engine.” The vehicle has been inspected by the manufacturer but they are demanding $150 JUST to diagnose the issue. If it is as simple as reprogramming the vehicle’s software, they said it would cost another $150 to do so. Warning lamp and message about the power steering assist failing occurred right before the hardware malfunction/failure which was on December 2nd 2021 with 106,200 miles on the vehicle. Somehow the VIN for my vehicle wasn’t included in the initial recall by Ford EVEN THOUGH it meets all the specifications of the make/model of the

On 9/26/21, I was driving my 2013 Ford Taurus on the highway, when suddenly lost power steering. Two error messages immediately appeared on the dashboard: "Service Advancetrac" and "Power Steering Fault". I managed to pull the car over safely, however this was an extremely dangerous situation that could have led to an accident. The car was brought to Watertown Ford, 26 Seyon Street, Waltham MA, 02453. The Ford technician confirmed that multiple diagnostic codes were present (related to the steering rack and PCSM - power steering control module), and indicated that the power steering rack needed to be replaced at a cost of $2,700. Upon further research, I noticed that Ford opened a recall program for 2013 Ford Taurus models pertaining to this exact issue. I called Ford, but was informed that my VIN number was not included in the recall, and did not receive an explanation why. Ford's number for this recall is 15S18. NHTSA Campiagn Number is 15V605000. I'm shocked that this was not covered under Ford's recall program, and that I was forced to pay $2,700 in order to have a completely new power steering rack installed. I'm quite fearful that this will occur again in the future. I have attached the invoice from Watertown Ford for reference.

In my 2013 Ford Taurus (Mfd 02/2012) I experienced loss of power steering while pulling out of Costco and I went to a parking spot and tried to rotate the steering in the stationary car to check what happened. After rotating the steering wheel a couple of times the power steering came back but now there is a clicking sound while rotating the steering on both sides. I researched online for recalls and found Recall No. 15S18 for this issue. I am the 2nd owner of this vehicle since 2016 and I had the vehicle checked for the recall when I had purchased it. At that time no error code was found. Since my vehicle was checked once the recall does not show up for my Vin number but now I have the actual issue. I contacted Ford on Facebook (since their chat does not work) and they told me to contact the dealer. I contacted the Ford Dealer (Frontier Ford) and the customer service told me someone will contact me . I waited one day and checked back with them and they told me that they need to check if they have the part for the Recall. It has been another day but no one contacted me. I contacted another dealer (Sunnyvale Ford) and their customer service looked up my Vin number and told me that no un repaired recalls for my vehicle. The recall does not show up because it was there when I bought the car in 2016 and I had them check it but at that time there was nothing found. Good afternoon, I am writing this regarding an issue to the power steering. This issue is an ongoing danger to myself and drivers around me. The steering locks up an the wheel becomes very still and hard to turn. This issue has been determined by a local dealership. There have been no warning lamps to signal the issue which makes it more dangerous due to no warning prior to when the issue started. After doing some research, I have found that similar vehicles to mine have a recall. The same vehicles (2013 taurus) manufactured in Chicago between September 7, 2010- February 28, 2012 have the same failed components as mine except they are recalled and mine is not.

We bought the car in August 2015 from a bank. After we got it home a "power steering assist fail" light came on. We took it to the local Ford dealer back then and since the light comes on randomly, they could not get a report to show. I told them that there was a loss of power steering assist recall in June of 2015, but since my VIN was not one of the recalls they refused to do recall work. The power steering assist continues to give us trouble and when I called Ford customer service last week, they said since my VIN was not on the recall list, I would have to pay for the $1800.00 for repairs myself. Last week the power assist failed while pulling into a parking spot and I almost hit another car because I could not turn my wheel. My transmission tech ran the vehicle system report yesterday 9-2-21 and we got the error, even though Ford said they could not see it. It is recall 15V340000. I assume that Ford failed to get our VIN in the recall list and we are just trying to get the manufactured defect repair completed that is not out of our pocket. How can we go about this?

While traveling down the highway and without warning, we lost the ability to accelerate. We had to coast over to the shoulder of the road and there was no response when pressing the gas pedal. The vehicle then began to sputter and the check engine light came on. We restarted the vehicle and the check engine light was off, and the car responded when the gas was pressed. Later on I was turning through an intersection and again the engine stopped responding. I coasted very slowly through the intersection, turned on the hazard lights and sat slightly off the road. I restarted the car several times and this time the check engine light stayed on. I checked the code and it showed "Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) system, actuator stuck open". I looked on the internet and saw that many of the 2009-13 Ford Escape owners had experienced these symptoms as well. This seems more like just a Ford problem and should be fixed by the manufacturer. Our car is a 2013 V6 Ford Taurus SEL, that has 60,000 miles on it. This so-called Limp-Mode that Ford has in place is dangerous. The engine should not completely stop responding to the pedal!

I purchased my car from a Ford dealership in 12/2020. As of 08/09/2021 my car lost power steering while driving. The power steering system failed and a warning for “Power assist fault” came on my dash. Upon trying to order and fix the part, the scan told me that my PCSM (electronic power steering) was at fault, they notified me that my car was under recall for that issue. I saw online that it is for affected vehicles 2011-2013 Ford Taurus, all engines, that experience a loss of power steering, under NHTSA campaign number 15V-340-000. I called my dealership and they said my VIN did not match the recall despite it being the exact same year, car, and issue as the affected recall. I am having the EXACT same issues as listed under the recall. This seriously affected my safety as I experienced TOTAL loss of steering suddenly, which worsens with slower speeds making it almost impossible to steer the car at all. I am lucky enough to have been in a situation where I was not harmed due to it.

The steering assist on my Ford Taurus sho police interceptor has failed. It has not been active for a while now. I have continued to drive the vehicle under these conditions despite the inconvenience it causes me. I am almost 45 years old. The wear this puts on my body, it's a shame. I fractured an elbow in an unrelated incident a couple years before I purchased this vehicle. It required a complete replacement with an implant. The pushing and pulling I've put on this has shortened the life of the implant. That I am with no doubt. But when this is your means to work, you have no choice but to adapt. Two months ago, I chose another vehicle to drive rather than to repair this one and "hope" for a recall. The problem my car has is identical to those recalled. The pictures I have added shows no doubt of that. I will not pay a cent to any dealership that represents a company that has chosen negligence over safety. It's hard to believe that manufacturers are given a choice in situations like this. A vehicle for the foundation that provides the public with safety and well being at that. I hope whoever reads this is able to take something away from it. Hopefully, it will push somebody in a different direction when time comes to purchase a new car that they're loved ones will be riding in. Maybe if a number of people have had enough of manufacturer's trying to compensate their losses by picking and choosing which cars to fix while making the average Joe pay out of pocket five times the

Power steering (electrical system for this car) does not work on startup. Takes about 5 seconds to activate. Havenot experienced this on the road (yet). Check of outstanding recall repairs when entering VIN # in your webpage, shows no outstanding repairs. Howevver, I bought this vehicle with 0 miles and havenot had this repair done (I never got a recall notice). this malfunction has happened reeatedly in the last 3 weeks.

The steering suddenly became difficult to operate at 70 MPH. I stopped and turned the car off then turned it back on. THE DEALER IS UNABLE TO PROVIDE ANY INFORMATION ON THE ISSUE, PROMISING THAT THE CASE WILL BE REVIEWED BY INTERNAL TEAM, THE MANUFACTURER IS UNABLE TO PROVIDE ANY INFORMATION AS WELL, STATING THAT THE ALL THE RECALLS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED, THE DEALERSHIP GOT PAID, BUT 1 RECALL REMAINS LISTED ON NHTSA.GOV .I CANNOT USE THE VEHICLE AS INTENDED AS 1 STILL ACTIVE RECALL PROHIBITS ME FROM DOING SO. APPROXIMATELY 2 MONTHS AGO, I ARRIVED AT ONE LOCATION NEAR BY LINCOLN FORD OF SANTA MONICA, MY SON, TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND DID NOT TURNED ON, THE VEHICLE OVERNIGHT AT THAT LOCATION, NEXT FOLLOWING DAY WE TURNED IN THE DEALER ABOVE NOTED. AFTER FEW DAYS THEY SAID THIS SERIAL NUMBER IS NOT COVER BY THE RECALL, ONLY FEW OTHER SAME, YEAR AND SAME MODEL BUT NOT THIS ONE IS COVER BY THE RECALL, OF THE POWER STEERING SENSOR. THEY WERE UNABLE TO LOAD THE CODES OF THE VEHICLE, SAID THEY NEED TO LOAD THE COMPUTER DATA. NOW AFTER 2 MONTHS THAT MY CAR IS SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY, I WILL TUNED IN THEODORE ROBINSON DEALER IN THE CITY OF COSTA MESA 04/13/2021. PLEASE INCLUDE THIS IN THE RECALL, SAME YEAR, SAME MODEL, SAME SENSOR VEHICLES ARE INCLUDED. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE? IF THEY ARE THE SAME COMPONENTS. POWER STEERING WENT OUT COMPLETELY WITHOUT WARNING. VERY DANGEROUS OTHERS HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. IT SEEMS TO BE DUE TO HEAT CAUSING ELECTRIC ASSIST STEERING TO FAIL. FORD DESIGN THE ELECTRIC ASSIST MOTOR TO SIT DIRECTLY BEHIND THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER.

RIVERTOWN FORD HAS CLAIMED TO INSPECT THE REAR TOELINK AND COULD NOT HAVE CONSIDERING I'VE FELT THE REAR END TRAILING FROM TIME TO TIME AND NOTICED UPON INSPECTION DEPLOYED BY MYSELF VISUALLY THAT THE DRIVER SIDE TOELINK HAD BEEN CRACKING. WHEN I NOTIFIED FORD BY PHONE THE DEALERSHIP AT THAT TIME BRUSHED ME OFF WHEN I FINALLY TALKED THEM INTO AT LEAST DOING A MULTI POINT INSPECTION THAT I PAID FOR THEY CLAIMED THEY HADN'T NOTICED ANYTHING. THEY THEN AND SINCE THEN REFUSE TO EVEN LOOK AT THE SUSPENSION WITHOUT A 300$ FEE. (2 THE OTHER INSTANCE IS AFTER RECEIVING DAMAGE TO MY PASSENGER SIDE FENDER AND OBTAINING A "SHORT" IN MY BCM I STARTED TO GET IMMOBERLIZER MESSAGES. P161-2A INCORRECT MESSAGE FROM IMMOBILIZER. I DIAGNOSED THE ISSUE WITH MY LAPTOP AND OBD2 PASSTHRU DEVICE AND AFTER SEEING THE ISSUE WAS FROM PATS WHICH BY THE WAY ISN'T EVEN PRESENT IN THE 2013-19 FORD POLICE INTERCEPTOR SEDANS FORD AGAIN WANTED 400$ TO"DIAGNOSE" THE VEHICLE IN WHICH I HAD COMMUNICATED WITH THE SUPERVISOR TRYING TO CONFIRM MY FEAR OF PAYING THE AMOUNT WILL THEY BE ABLE TO AT LEAST REPAIR OR BE FURTHER ALONG.THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY COULDN'T EVEN FIX OR PROGRAM THE ISSUE IF THIS IS THE CASE. TOOK CAR IN BECAUSE OF POOR HANDLING AND ACCESSOVE TIRE WARE FIND OUT TOE CONTROL LINK IS BAD AFTER CHECKING THERE'S BEEN A PROBLEM WITH THAT PART. I THINK THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR SAFETY REASONS.

ENGINE STALLS WHEN COMING TO A STOP OR SLOWING DOWN.

THE REAR SUSPENSION TOE LINK FAILED ON MY VEHICLE WHILE I WAS DRIVING IN CITY TRAFFIC, GOING STRAIGHT. I COULD ONLY GO 5 MPH TO THE NEAREST REPAIR SHOP AS THE REAR WHEEL WAS NEAR FALLING OFF. THERE ARE SEVERAL RECALLS FOR THIS IDENTICAL PART, BUT NOT MY SPECIFIC VIN.....EVEN THOUGH IT'S THE IDENTICAL PART UNDER OTHER RECALLS. SAFETY RECALL 20S04, 20S62, 19S17, TO NAME A FEW.

EXPERIENCED LOSS OF STEERING/STEERING WHEEL FROZE UP AND COULD NOT BE TURNED; INITIALLY OCCURRED AT HOME IN DRIVEWAY WHEN STATIONARY OVERNIGHT BUT GETTING MORE FREQUENT AND PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. I CALLED 2 DEALERS AND DID A CHAT WITH FORD BUT WAS STILL TOLD "NO". SO I NOW HAVE TO MAKE A HIGH DOLLAR REPAIR ON A COMPONENT THAT SHOULD BE COVERED. SENDING LETTER TO PRESIDENT OF FORD MOTOR COMPANY TO COMPLAIN AS WELL. SO I LOOKED IT UP AND THERE WAS A RECALL FOR IT AND SEATBELTS AND AIRBAGS BUT MY VIN# WASN'T ON THE LIST. EVERYONE I KNOW WHO GOT A CAR LIKE MINES HAD THE RECALL AND WAS FIXED. I AM NOW PAYING OUT OF POCKET FOR THE AIRBAGS AND MY RADIO AND BACK CAM NOW IS ACTING CRAZY SHOW UPSIDE DOWN AND THE RADIO KEEP GOING OUT. I NEED SOME HELP CAN'T AFFORD ALL THESE ISSUES WITH MY CAR WHEN THEY ARE ON YOUR RECALL LIST .PLEASE IF YOU CAN RE-EVALUATE MY NUMBER THE BACK CAM ACTS UP WHEN BACKING UP EVERYTHING IS UPSIDE DOWN. THE POWER STEERING HAS STOPPED WORKING MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER THE STEERING WHEEL. THERE IS AN ERROR MESSAGE THAT DAY POWER ASSIST FAULT. THERE IS A RECALL ON 2013 MODEL FORD TAURUS OVER 300,000 FOR THIS REASON BUT MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT LISTED.

I NOTICED ON THE FORD PASS APP THAT THERE WAS A WARRANTY EXTENSION FOR THE APIM ON THE SYNC SYSTEM. THEY (FORD) EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THE NOTIFICATION WAS SENT TO A PREVIOUS OWNER AND NOT ME (I HAVE OWNED THE CAR SINCE 2016). THEY NOW SAY THIS EXTENSION IS EXPIRED AND THE COST WOULD HAVE TO BE MY RESPONSIBILITY.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL VIBRATION COMING FROM THE REAR END OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR SUSPENSION LATERAL LINK HAD DETACHED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V072000 (SUSPENSION) AND STATED THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT A TAURUS-SHO MODEL AND THEREFORE NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 127,497.

THE STEERING HAS BEEN GETTING STIFFER AND STIFFER OVER THE LAST YEAR OR SO. THERE HAD BEEN RECALLS ON THE POWER STEERING PUMP BEING FAULTY FOR THE 2013 TAURUS; BUT, MY VEHICLE DID NOT FIT INTO THAT RECALL. MY CAR HAS ONLY 65000 MILES. I THINK THAT MY VEHICLE MAY HAVE BEEN OVERLOOKED IN THAT RECALL. IT IS EVERYTIME I DRIVE THE CAR AND IS GETTING WORSE. DON'T KNOW THE EXACT DATE I STARTED NOTICING IT; THE DATE BELOW IS NOT ACCURATE, BUT, IT HAS BEING GETTING WORSE FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME.

POWER STEERING WOULD GO IN AND OUT AS I HIT BUMPS IN THE ROAD AT FIRST. NOW IT'S OUT COMPLETELY AND SOMETIMES LOCKS IN POSITION WITHOUT ABILITY TO CORRECT FOR 1 -2 SECONDS. RECALS FOR THIS MAKE, MODEL, AND YEAR HAVE BEEN ISSUED. MY VIN IS NOT SUPPORTED DESPITE THE SIMILAR CHARACTERISTICS OF THE PROBLEM AS WELL AS THE SCENARIO LEADING UP TO TOTAL FAILURE. I HAVE A GREEN 2013 FORD TAURUS SHO POLICE INTERCEPTOR. IT WAS A STATE HIGHWAY PATROL CAR FROM RHODE ISLAND I BELIEVE. I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM CHICAGO MOTORS. IT WAS DELIVERED TO ME IN OHIO. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MONTROSE FORD (3960 MEDINA RD, FAIRLAWN, OH 44333, (330) 666-0711) AND THE COMPUTER WAS RESET AND DTC CODES CLEARED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V340000 (STEERING). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE 122,000.

WHILE LEAVING A PARKING LOT, THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING ON MY FORD TAURUS STOPPED WORKING. I WAS NOT ABLE TO TURN SHARP ENOUGH TO STAY IN THE INTENDED FIRST LANE OF TRAFFIC AND WENT DEEP INTO THE SECOND AND ALMOST THIRD LANE. LUCKILY THE PERSON IN THE CENTER LANE WAS ABLE TO MOVE TO THE LEFT TO AVOID A COLLISION. THERE IS A RECALL THAT DESCRIBE THIS AS (15V340000 OR FORD 15S18) BUT FORD SAYS IT DOES NOT APPLY TO MY VEHICLE THOUGH THE DESCRIPTION IS IDENTICAL TO WHAT HAPPENED TO ME. I BELIEVE THAT THE PROBLEM THIS RECALL DESCRIBES IS NOT LIMITED TO THE SCOPE OF VEHICLES FORD CLAIMS AS PROBLEMATIC.

I WENT TO GET MY TWO LOWER CONTROL ARMS TO BE REPLACED. AND MY MECHANIC SAID THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE ON MY RACK AND PINION. SO I TOOK IT TO TWO DIFFERENT FORD DEALERSHIPS AND THEY SAID THAT WANTED OVER $150 TO EVEN LOOK AT IT AND TELL ME IF IT WOULD THROW ANY CODES. BUT IF YOU JUST DROVE THE CAR YOU CAN TELL SOMETHING IS STILL WRONG WITH IT. I'M SCARED.
