In the dark, my wife drove the car. After she had traveled about she noticed that the side mirrors were folded. Since it was dark, she did not notice this until she came to a well lit intersection. She had thought that she was seeing to the rear when changing lanes prior to discovering that the side mirrors were folded. It was a safety issue that my wife thought that she was looking to the rear through the side mirrors however they were not even positioned to see to the rear. There was no warning or indication for the side mirrors being folded. There is a button to unfold the mirrors if they are folded however it is easy to drive without realizing that they are folded in the dark.

I drove the car to work with no issues. I left work a little over 9 hours later. I was able to enter car without issues. Turned on car and didn’t notice any issues. My phone connected as usual via CarPlay and I navigated home. Leaving the work area is low speed, so I never exceeded 20 mph and just went by feeling, but once I was on a more open stretch of road, I noticed that the instrument cluster was frozen and the speed it was displaying felt too slow compared to how I felt I was going. In essence, I couldn’t tell how fast I was going. After closer examination (mind you I was driving while figuring this stuff out), I noticed that the instrument cluster would update once in say 10seconds or so (but it was variable). I tried to set cruise control to initiate blue cruise, but I couldn’t tell what speed cruise control was being set to due to this enormous lag. I also wasn’t sure if the system would also exhibit this lag. Finally, I noticed that even the lights indicator for the blinker would refresh very slowly but the audible “click” associated with the blinker was normal. The drive home was very distracted and painful due to this issue. I documented the behavior in a video if needed.
For multiple months, a "front camera fault" warning would display while driving on the highway, usually while using cruise control or automatic steering. This would then suddenly kick off all driving features and the car would begin to drift, requiring driver intervention. The vehicle will also periodically slam on the brakes and warn of a forward collision, but when no cars were in front. This obviously nearly caused accidents multiple times, and still occurs. It has been taken to the dealer multiple times with no luck in fixing, and is now looking at eight thousand dollars to replace the wiring. This is a very common issue, and needs to be a recall to prevent other cars from getting into accidents.
Heavy vibration and pulsation from brakes when stopping from 50 mph. Steering wheel jumped out of my hands on a panic stop one time. I would say this is a safety issue that apparently Ford already knows about with service bulletin #22-2023. Ford refuses to make the repair under warranty because they say it's a wear and tear issue-even thought they admit to faulty brake pads. The problem was confirmed by the dealership and they wanted $1300 to fix their defective brake pads.
Twice in about a week my 12V battery has died without warning. The car is inoperable and there’s no way to open the car doors or even the trunk and front trunk. We’ve been locked out entirely. Left stranded in parking lots waiting for tow trucks. The only fix is jumping the vehicle’s 12V battery. If this happened while you’re in the vehicle you’d be stuck in the car since none of the accessory functions (including locks) function when this happens.

I have complained several times with Ford Dealers to fix the issues involving my vehicle accelerating on its own. The vehicle within a week will accelerate on its own 4-6 times when exiting a parking spot or my driveway.
The Adaptive Cruise Control cancel button on the steering wheel frequently fails to cancel ACC operation. The problem is that if the ACC is set at 70 mph, but you are following a vehicle that is going only 55, the ACC slows you to 55. If I intend to exit the interstate, I tap the cancel button, but the ACC stays operative. I change into the exit lane, perhaps rated at 35 mph. As soon as I am no longer behind the slow vehicle, the ACC starts to accelerate to 70 on a 35 mph off-ramp. This gets hazardous, especially in an EV with almost unlimited acceleration. One could easily be off the road before recognizing the problem. This is a problem that needs to be solved by Ford via their Over The Air Software Updates. On the internet user/owner forum this problem has been observed by numerous members, but no action taken by Ford who regularly monitors this forum. The software system is just sluggishly slow (compared to other vehicles, like my Honda Ridgeline) that it doesn’t even recognize there is an issue. Therefore no warning messages about a problem.
The contact owns a 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to charge as designed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who informed the contact that they were awaiting the charging port and had ordered an unknown part; however, the part was on backorder. The contact stated that the vehicle was undrivable and remained at the dealer. The dealer notified the manufacturer of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 35,443.
After transitioning from i35 south, to Highway 183 towards Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, the auto-pilot (Ford Blue Cruse) fails, the speedometer fails, the battery level indicator fails, the instrument cluster fails, cruse control picks a random speed and struggles to keep it, lane keep assist is erratic at best. This occurs every time, and in both directions, I take my vehicle on that highway. I took a video of it this last time, and offered it to Ford. They recommended I file this report with this agency.
The contact owns a 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V687000 (Electrical System) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
While driving the cluster goes black. It does not show speed. It goes black for about 5 seconds and reboots. this happens about every 15 minutes while driving.
Forward collision warning has been coming on over 5 times now along with cruise control not working
The contact owns a 2021 Ford Mustang March E. The contact stated while driving at various speeds the message "Power Train Failure, Unsafe to Drive" was displayed and the speed was reduced to 55 MPH. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the high-voltage battery junction box and PCM were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously serviced for the same failure on two separate occasions. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V687000 (Electrical System). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 12,000.
Front camera fault and pre-collision assist not available warnings. Car is unable to use cruise control or lane departure assist or warning.
Significant vibration in the steering wheel when braking between 40-50 mph. It was reported to the dealer and "fixed" but just had it "fixed" for the 4th time. The vibration in the steering wheel is alarming and disconcerting to say the least. No warning lamps or other indications were present any of the times this has been experienced. After each "fix" the timeframe/mileage between occurrences has reduced. The last 3 times, the dealer had the car for over a week to allow them to perform a "comprehensive" fix. If you do a search on vehicle dashboards, this is an issue with many other 2021 mach-e vehicles. Ford continues to pretend like this is limited to my vehicle. While they have covered the reports thus far, having a vehicle with (now) 30,000 miles on it and multiple issues with the braking system (and it appears to be a systemic issue) is unsafe and causes significant lack of faith in my ability to brake safely. While I was assured by Ford that the brakes work fine and it wasn't unsafe, a jarring vibration in the steering wheel when decelerating in a specific speed range is not safe. The information in the "additional" details is for the latest (now 5th time) this is being addressed.
While driving with my 1 year old in the car, there was a car in front of us turning so we slowed down. After it made its turn, the driver (my dad) accelerated to continue on our drive. During the acceleration, we heard a loud noise and the car stopped in the middle of a busy road. The notification came on the dash stating to safely stop because the battery failed. We did not even have a chance to pull over before the car completely stopped and would not move. We were stuck in the middle of a busy road. I called Ford assistance and they sent a tow truck. I had to wait in the freezing weather with my one year old baby for my father to uber home and get his car. There was no other warning prior to the failure. The car is now at Ford where they say they are getting a new battery to replace the failed one. Now i am without a car but more importantly i feared for mine and my childs safety when the car completely stopped in the middle of the road. The vehicle has not been inspected by anyone other than the dealer.
Vehicle in Adaptive cruise will unintentionally accelerate when a motorcycle is lane splitting to the right of the vehicle, causing the vehicle to accelerate towards a slowing or stopped vehicle. This puts me and other motorists at risk of a crash.
There is a software problem which was introduced in a previous OTA which causes drive modes to change. These drive modes are Whisper, Engage, and Unbridle. Each has their own acceleration/throttle response characteristics, as well as steering and suspension feel. You also have the ability to enable one-pedal drive in the drive mode menu. The software bug will randomly throw an error on the main screen that says "Drive Mode Not Available" change your drive mode from Whisper or Unbridle to Engage, affecting the throttle response that can occasionally lead to unintended acceleration. On occasion, it can also lead to disengaging of the one-pedal drive mode at the same time, which can cause the vehicle to not slow down when the foot is lifted off the accelerator. If the driver is unaware that 1PD has become disengaged unintentionally (which cannot be re-engaged without power-cycling the vehicle), it could lead to a crash as the driver is not expecting to use the brake pedal. In a moment's notice situation, it could be deadly. The vehicle has not been inspected, however, this problem has been reported by many other Mustang Mach-E owners. I will link my forum post at the end of this report which has other claims of this fault. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. It cannot be easily reproduced as it is entirely random. Yesterday (11/8/2023 @ 1:40 EST), I was pulling into a parking spot with concrete posts around it. This time, it happened as I was turning into the s
This is the second HVJB failure on my mustangs Mach e. I was told my last replacement was the upgraded unit. It last as long as my last one.
This is becoming a common occurrence with this vehicle. The power train/ front end collision sensor/ tire sensor/ air bay sensor/ drive train all malfunctioning. Ford refuses to help.
On October 15, 2023, with my EV battery charged at 69% and about 2 minutes after beginning my drive, I suddenly received a warning on the dashboard which stated "Stop Safely Now". Within 5 seconds, the vehicle would not accelerate and eventually came to a stop. The first episode of this occurred on Sunday, October 15. My car had to be towed to Gullo Ford in Conroe, TX, where I purchased the car in March 2022. The vehicle was serviced by Gullo Ford's service department on October 16, 2023. The repair invoice references replacing the electronic parking brake harness connector and reprogramming the battery charge control module per recall on October 16. 2023. I picked the vehicle up from Gullo Ford on the afternoon of October 16. The car worked normally until Monday, October 30, 2023 when the same thing happened. About 2 minutes after starting and driving the car, I received the warning to "Stop Safely Now". The vehicle would not accelerate. My battery was charged over 70% when this occurred. The first time this happened on October 15, 2023, I was able to coast the car into a parking lot, out of traffic. On Monday, October 30, my car did not have enough speed to allow me to coast out of the flow of traffic which left me stranded in my car during rush hour, blocking one lane and the entry to a turn lane. This was a very unsafe circumstance as my car would not accelerate again, leaving me without a way to move out of the flow of traffic. Again, my car had to be towed to Gullo Ford
Display gave warning - Service Vehicle soon and car did not start after being parked for about an hour. Outside temp was 65F. Car was driven about 400 miles that day including DCFC once. Had to be towed to dealership where it has sat for over 3 weeks with no repair and no information about what is wrong. I had someone familiar with the Ford system look up the codes who found that there was likely a problem with HVBJB that now is recalled. Not sure what to do anymore since dealership has car for 3 weeks now.
After using fast charger in Santa Rosa Ca, to 85% proceeded to freeway on ramp, getting on freeway on ramp, Message came up on screen "STOP SAFELY NOW" 2nd Message. "FULL ACCESSORY POWER ACTIVE. I pulled over to shoulder, unable to restart car. After getting started after 15-20 minutes again the same thing happen again 5 minutes later blocking lanes of traffic. Restarted after 25 minutes went to Ford dealership which was 1 mile away. Rented car and waited the next day till I called at 4;30 to see how car was and it was. The reason for incident from Ford technician was due to Erroneous network traffic caused the fault.??????? Needs to say I'm selling my MME 2021 I can't be stuck on freeway onramp or anywhere else, this is very unnerving to a [XXX] women and her 14 year old dog. While driving, the range on the electric battery went from 150 miles to only 64 miles in less than a minute. when i went to the DC fast charger it gave error and could not charge even after i verified that the fast charger was operational because the next car was able to charge car with no issue. after a while when i charged the car, it started charging but drastically reduced the battery range. i have attached the picture. at 78% it only gave me 76 miles range. usually at 78% it gives me a 180 miles or higher. took my car to the dealer to run diagnostics and dealer don't seem to agree to any battery issue.
Have multiple open recalls. Been trying to get Ford dealer to perform recall work for 4+ months. Dealers don't seem to want to do the work. Can't get them to reply to emails, text or return calls. Have stopped by dealer twice with appointments, but they either didn't order the parts or ordered wrong parts.
Car gave me the high voltage fault that many Mach e owners have reported. Car is in the dealership now and I don’t have the car. Why weren’t these recalled?
Ford delivered the car with only one key FOB which was corrected in later builds of the car. To fix this they had a program where you could go to your dealer to get the second key FOB for free. I set up an appointment to go to the dealer and was reassured that even though the date was after the expiration of the program I would still get the second key for free. When I went in I was told this was untrue and every Ford representative has told me that even though I was lied to they would not fix things for free as it should be with the program. Eventually I was told to contact nhtsa about this issue. I currently have to use my phone as a key which has become increasingly unreliable requiring my backup code often to be entered into the car even when my phone is on and has the Fordpass app open to act like a key. This has caused issues with when I shift out of drive or reverse that it places itself in park asking for the backup code to be entered again before I can continue driving.
All 4 brake rotors warped at once. Had vehicle serviced for 10000 mile evaluation which included rotating tires and checking brake only 6 weeks earlier. Only drove car additional 200 miles since service. All rotors warped at once without excessive braking, heat or water.
Forward collision warning constantly going on. Brought it for service and told them but still going on
Dashboard warnings about the high-voltage battery due to a fault. There is a known issue with the HVBJB (high-voltage battery junction box) plus a powertrain malfunction warning..
I want to draw attention to a significant concern: U.S. auto safety regulators announced in August of this year that they are currently investigating whether Ford Motor's 2022 recall of nearly 49,000 Ford Mustang Mach-E electric vehicles comprehensively addressed the associated safety concerns. The basis for the 2022 recall was that the high voltage battery main contactors could overheat, particularly from DC fast-charging and repeated wide-open pedal events. This overheating presents a very real danger as it could result in an immediate loss of power, markedly increasing the risk of a vehicular accident. Furthermore, after the recall, Ford issued a technical service bulletin, directing the replacement of the High Voltage Battery Junction Box on the recalled vehicles. However, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has since opened a recall query. This action was prompted by 12 consumer complaints related to Mach-E vehicles that had supposedly received the necessary recall fixes. It is worth noting that the High Voltage Battery Junction Box has been replaced on my Mach-E already, and I am still facing problems. This is my third encounter with this particular safety issue.
We came out to our parked car and got a message that said Stop Safely Now. The vehicle would not shift into gear. The dealership had confirmed that the high voltage junction box has failed. We did not get the Service Vehicle Soon warning prior to the failure, despite having had the recall software update applied. The first sign of failure was a loss of motive power. This is a safety issue because loss of motive power while driving can result in loss of control of the vehicle. The loss of heating and cooling combined with the loss of motive power is also a significant safety risk if the failure occurs in a remote location experiencing extreme temperatures. The part has yet to be replaced, but I’m sure Ford will be retaining it for inspection.
The contact owns a 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E. The contact stated that a puddle of water was found in the front driver's side seat after a heavy rainstorm. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where an inspection was performed. The result showed that the adhesion around the windshield was defective which led to water intrusion inside the vehicle. The contact was made aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V711000 (Visibility); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was provided a case number and referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 44,000.
I have experienced multiple powertrain malfunctions since the original recall for this issue was completed back in 2022. Approximately 4-5 of these warnings were temporary and cleared within a few hours or after a visit to the dealer to diagnose. Most dealer visits yielded nothing as the car had cleared the errors and codes it was throwing. In 2021, I experienced a complete vehicle failure with a "Stop Safely Now" and "High-Voltage Battery Warning", right before the original recall was performed. My most recent malfunction has also caused a complete vehicle failure, exactly like what happened in 2021. I am concerned that these issues will continue and eventually happen while driving, creating a massive safety issue.
Acceleration problem. The in this Mustang Mach E 2021 when I stepped on the 'gas' pedal there was no response then a very slow response, then a leap to a faster speed independent of my pressure on the pedal. I had to break to slow down. This was a constant presence until I was able to get home, about 2 miles away. I was terrified that I had no control over my speed, if I had to get out in front of traffic quickly or if I couldn't stop and my speed keep increasing. My concern is that this was a problem that lead to a recall issued 5/30/2022 and my vehicle was not included, although it met the criteria described in the recall. I think you missed me. My car was towed away on 9/16/23 to Middleton Ford where they can look at it 10/6/23.
On 9/16/23 I had no control over acceleration. When I tried to acceleration there was no response, then a slow increase in speed and then a burst of speed independent of my foot pressure on the pedal. Fortunately I was able to drive 2 miles home to get it towed away without an incident, other than terror over the potential danger. I never received the recall 22V-333 issued 5/30/2022 yet my vehicle fits the description of the cars recalled. My question: How was my car missed? Does this recall need to extend to more vehicles?
The contact owns a 2021 Ford Mustang Mach E. The contact stated that while driving slowly in reverse and reversing of a parking space, the vehicle suddenly experienced unintended acceleration and erroneously drove across the street before crashing into an apartment building wall. During the crash, the driver sustained a lower back injury and left arm laceration which required medical treatment. The vehicle was towed to a local body shop. No police report was taken. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The local dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 14,750.
While driving on the NJ turnpike I notice a grinding noise. I was using 1 pedal drive at the time. Once I disabled the 1 pedal drive. I received multiple dash board alerts and App alerts that the Mach E was experiencing a Powertrain Malfunction/ Reduced power. Hill start Assist Warning/Pre-Collision assist Not available. This happened on 8/24/2023. I drove to the dealership and left the vehicle with them to look into the alerts and grinding noise. I called the dealer the next week and was told that the front motor had failed and a replacement was ordered. I reached out today 9.18.23 and learned it was an oil leak that caused the motor to fail and that a new motor was being ordered, the original part number was replaced with the new part. I was told that it will take another month. I do not know if the part was examined by the manufacture. I my odometer was at 45,000. I was concerned while driving to the dealer that I would lose all power.
Loss power, high voltage problem. On August 13 2023. On a road trip .
Pre collision assist and front camera malfunctions randomly. Dealer did a software update and has not resolved the issue. This happens at least once every time the vehicle is driven. It is out of warranty and will not be covered. This is a problem that plagues a significant amount of vehicles, I follow a mach-e group on social media and it’s a prominent issue. If you’re using blue cruise. The vehicle stops self driving abruptly.
Several people with known issue of “pre collision alert” having to replace coax cables and impa camera. I am no longer under warranty and have to pay out of pocket til this becomes a recall. Cruise control will stop working when getting this alert
The front camera system has failed. The cables need replacing, which was diagnosed by a Ford dealer. I have no collision assist, no cruise control, no lane keeping abilities, nothing that has to do with the camera in front. This is a known problem that Ford is not admitting to. All years of the Mach-E are having this issue, frequently. It has put myself and others on the road in danger by not being able to function as it should. Every time I turn the car on I get multiple warnings on the dash concerning these issues. This is not the only problem and safety issue I've had with this car in less than 9 months of owning it. Something must be done to hold Ford accountable.
After having my front windshield replaced due to a recall my front camera quit working properly. This happened a year ago. Since then I have had a warning come up on my dash ever time I start my car saying the front camera has a fault and the front collision avoidance does not work. Additionally this effected the following. I have no cruise control, no blue cruise, no lane keeping assist, no self park, no adaptive cruise control and no accident avoidance system functions. There was a service bulletin issued but it should be a recall as it effects anyone that has had the windshield replaced. Apparently the wires that connect the camera are ridiculously fragile and when the windshield was replaced they were damaged. I have been waiting since spring 2023 for the parts after software updates failed to fix the problem and Ford realized the problem. They are now on back order and it keeps being pushed back. The wires are clearly defective and should not have been used if they can be damaged by a windshield replacement. And issuing a service bulletin clearly shows that they know it’s a problem but they do not want to pay to fix for everyone.
It would appear that after the recall repair my car is experiencing problems that we’re supposed to be addressed with the recall. All systems are constantly malfunctioning.
The charging port on my Mach-E is failing. I am unable to change at the manufacture reported limit of 48 amps. If I try to charge my Mach-E at any rate higher than 32 amps, it will unexpectedly stop charging within 30 minutes, and only change the car 2% or 3% per charging session. Once I derate my EVSE to 32 amps, then my Mach-E can fully charge up to the 80% limit that I have set in the car within a single charge session. Several others have reported the same issue on the following forum post: [XXX] . It seems to be an issue with the temperature sensor in the charge port failing prematurely. I can confirm that the charging issue can occur outside of environmental factors like during a hot summer day. I usually charge during the late evening and at night, around 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., and the car always stops charging within 30 minutes. I have even charged successfully at a public L2 charger during the day when the charging cord handle was in direct sun light, and was hot to the touch. So the failure seems directly related to the charge rate. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The HVBJB subassembly in ALL Ford Mach-e vehicles has known defects with 'under-designed' main contacts that are known to fail under normal charging and driving conditions as outlined in current open Ford recall notice. Unfortunately, the internal damage to contactors is not visible externally, and warning notices on display only AFTER the damage has occurred, and can result in sudden loss of propulsion power at highway speed, loss of power steering, and power brakes... and failure of other 12v systems due to failure to charge the 12v battery properly after contacts are damaged. Less catastrophic results can include failure to start; which can 'strand' driver's and passengers in remote areas, bad weather conditions, as well as cause loss of use for weeks due to delays in replacement parts and local Dealerships needing equipment and training to effect removal/replacement of faulty unit with a new HVBJB having re-designed 'beefier' components. My complaint is that Ford's recall notice 22s41 is a software-only attempt to prevent future damage, and does not require removal of the part(s) which are KNOWN TO FAIL to be replaced with the re-designed components which are available, and have been used to repair failures under warranty. I have no way of inspecting the original equipment to evaluate current condition; and failure can result in sudden and unexpected loss of power, steering, and braking as well as potentially 'stranding me' in unsafe conditions unable to re-start my ve
I am filing this complaint regarding the potential failure of the High Voltage Battery Junction Box. There have been many failures reported on the forums some experiencing multiple failures. Ford provided a software update that supposedly predicts an impending failure reducing available propulsion power. I do not feel comfortable driving a vehicle with a ticking time bomb. Losing propulsion power while driving at highway speeds could result in a serious safety senerio. I would like to see Ford provide a real fix.
Ford has installed a sub par HVBJB in my car which was manufactured in 12/01. In lieu of replacing the poorly designed unit they have added software that does not guarantee that the car will not brick. Numerous car have failed and I am afraid of having my wife drive the car at night for fear of it breaking down. This is a ticking time bomb.
HVBJB failure. Was replaced by dealership still concerned that may fail any type of long-distance driving I'm concerned it may fail while I'm on the highway as once it's been driving for an hour and warm by the fact the fans are always on. I think there should be more done to solve this issue also known is the fact that they are promoting a performance edition vehicle with the same drivetrain basically as the eco-friendly entry-level car which two may have an issue with heat set the more you hit the accekerator the more the connectors heat up and chance for failure and the software feature did not help the car I drove. And as refuse to run when it failed all together . [XXX] did receive the required recall software update which did not stop me from failing on November 24, 2022 the car with the dealer getting the high-voltage capacitor replaced to this day we do not drive the vehicle anywhere other than around town. We are free this component will fail again and cost us greatly. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
