I get in my 2016 Fusion to go to dinner and I can barely turn my steering wheel. I put it in park and check the power steering fluid. FULL. I tried resetting the power steering assist by starting the car and turning all the way left then right then center. Still can barely turn. Tried disconnecting the battery hoping it would be an electrical glitch. Come to find out it’s could be a steering assist motor on the steering column that’s going bad and CAN CAUSE THIS PROBLEM WHILE DRIVING! That’s insane!

STEERING WHEEL ALMOST DETACHED FROM STEERING CULLUM. THERE IS A RECALL ALREADY ATTACHED TO OTHER 2016 FORD FUSIONS BUT NOT MY TRIM MODEL (2016 FORD FUSION ENERGY PLUG IN HYBRID). THE VEH IS NOT DRIVABLE
My car is having a problem with the a coolant intrusion into the intake so coolant is leaking into the engine, this being said there was a recall for my car a while ago when I did not own the car and I believe it was never replaced or taken care of. When I went to the ford dealership they are saying that there is no recall for my car. The car misfired once which is one of the symptoms, I got my spark plugs replaced, my check engine light came on again for a different problem, I got my intake replaced it ran fine for 4 days and now I am back with the same problem 4 days later. Doing some research I believe that there is a cracked cylinder head or failing gasket. Ford did have a recall on my engine coolant intrusion but like I said prior they are saying there is no recall for my engine which is why I am confused about it. All of my engine problems are leading to this recall that was never fixed on my car or was looked over in my engine. Any help on this would be great thanks
The engine experienced a piston misfire that occurred internally, causing a fracture within the engine block. The resulting damage allows oil intrusion into the spark plug chamber. This constitutes a mandatory safety concern that requires immediate attention.
I am requesting formal escalation and review of my case due to a repeat failure of a safety recall component that has rendered my vehicle unsafe and not safely operable. My vehicle is a 2016 Ford Fusion. In 2024, a door latch safety recall repair was completed at an authorized Ford dealership. The same door latch has now failed again, causing the door to not close or latch at all, creating the same safety condition the recall was intended to correct. Both the dealership and Ford customer service have declined assistance on the basis that the recall repair was previously completed. However, this is not a new or unrelated issue — this is a repeat failure of the same safety-critical component addressed under the recall. This condition presents an ongoing safety risk, and the vehicle cannot be used safely in its current state. I have already filed a formal complaint with NHTSA documenting this repeat failure and Ford’s refusal to repair the issue. At this time, I am requesting: Review by a supervisor or escalation specialist Consideration for goodwill or recall-related assistance Resolution of this repeat safety defect without cost to me Please provide: Confirmation that this case has been escalated A written response explaining Ford’s position Any options Ford is willing to offer to address this safety concern I am requesting this review in good faith and hope Ford will stand behind its safety recall repair when the same defect has clearly reoccurred. Thank you for your time and
The rear backup camera system on my 2016 Ford Fusion S has failed and no longer displays an image when the vehicle is placed in reverse. The screen remains completely black and does not activate. The backup camera previously worked normally before this failure. The issue appears to be related to the backup camera or associated electrical/display system, and the component should be available for inspection upon request. This malfunction creates a safety risk because the backup camera is necessary to see obstacles, pedestrians, and other vehicles behind the car. Without a functioning backup camera, rear visibility is significantly reduced, increasing the risk of a collision, especially in parking lots and residential areas. The problem occurs every time the vehicle is placed in reverse. The issue has not yet been confirmed by a dealer or independent repair facility. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. There were no warning lights or messages prior to the failure. The screen began failing and now remains completely black when in reverse. The exact date the issue began is UNKNOWN.
We had the door latch recall fixed just over a year ago and now our door won't close. The latch is broken again and it needs to be fixed FREE

Complete loss of power steering. Service advancetrac light on Hill assist not available 2016 fusion but is not included in the recall. Car was sold to me and is registered in Pennsylvania, the salt belt. Ran scanner got codes U0240 and C102D. Clear codes, immediately get power steering back. Slowly lose power steering again, until complete failure. Super unsafe, first time this happened I was on the turnpike with my son. Speed limit is 70 m.p.h. I had to go 40 with my 4 ways on. Barely had control of my car. Very scary.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V695000 (Back Over Prevention). While driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle started running rough. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who retrieved DTC: P0302 (Misfire in Cylinder #2). The vehicle was taken to another independent mechanic, who retrieved the same code and informed the contact that cylinder #2 ignition coil and spark plug needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. While driving, there was white smoke coming from the tailpipe, but the vehicle was still running rough. The engine overheated, and the contact pulled over and added additional fluids to the engine. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with coolant intrusion, and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact obtained an extended warranty, but the claim was denied due to not meeting the mileage requirements. While driving at 35 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 138,000.
Transmission started whining from the pump and then immediately lost power/acceleration. Electronic diagnosis found code P0733 for incorrect gear ratio for 3rd gear. Dealership recommends torque converter replacement and transmission overhaul. Fine metal debris found in transmission fluid sample. Estimate $5,500 and occurred at 110,000 miles on odometer.
My vehicle has the Ford EcoBoost 2.0 liter engine in it that has been recalled on thousands of vehicles. My car currently has the same issue which is a coolant intrusion that has been recognized and was a class action lawsuit against Ford for this issue. I have been advised by a local Ford dealership that my engine should be part of the recall and Ford should be replacing my engine. However, when I called Ford, they are advising there is nothing they can do, because there is no current recall for my vehicles VIN and so I am trying to reach out and see if there's anything that can be done before hiring an attorney, because as a single mother I cannot afford $12,000 out of my pocket with hopes that eventually Ford will do the recall properly and reimburse me as they have stated "could happen". This is a known issue this engine of mine has been looked at by three mechanics one being a Ford dealership to confirm that this engine was in fact warped from the factory which is causing my coolant to seep into the heads or whatever and I need the long block replacement that the original recall fell under which was somewhere around the 50,000 mark of these vehicles recalled. The engine is needing to be repaired and taken care of so I'm seeking direction on how to possibly get Ford to take care of this issue that I should not be having to deal with due to a manufacturing defect since leaving off the factory floor

Considering your experience of losing total control of the vehicle even while driving slowly while following a snowplow vehicle dispensing road deicer while plowing; I have a strong suspicion that his has happened in 2024 as well when the vehicle had registered a drive issue and the dealership found now existing reason for it. The compacted snow forms a large layer of snow and ice in the wheel wells to the point that it is rubbing on the tires all around the wheel wells. As this icy snow hardens while the vehicle is parked; it is dangerous to drive on any road surface in this condition at any speed. While the danger was less in the past due to not driving to Cass Lake, Minnesota from Bemidji, Minnesota and back nearly every other day; it has become critical this winter because of the high increase in winter snowy road driving that you are currently doing. Even though doing Hemo-Dyalisis at home decreases the danger; this vehicle is at risk of suddenly going out of control during winter snowing highway driving conditions if ice and snow builds up around the tires where it can suddenly release and jam tires from turning. You need to be aware of the danger you place yourself and other motorists in if you are driving this Ford Fusion Energi while in these dangerous driving conditions. In the past I have seen the condition of ice and snow buildup in the front and rear wheel wells to the point that there is less than one half inch of clearance between the tires and the ice/snow bui

Rear camera sometimes displays black image or error message when I shift into reverse , I was notified by my insurance company there was a active recall on this specific part on the car - it has been about 2 months now and I am still unable to get to problem fixed as the parts are not available
The vehicle is a 2016 Ford Fusion with 70,000 miles when this happened happened the first time. I pushed on the brakes and the pedal went to the floor. I had just enough braking power to stop the vehicle. The danger is obvious, I had no brakes but I was going slow on local roads. I had the vehicle towed to an independent repair shop where they diagnosed failure of the right rear brake caliper. They replaced the caliper, hoses and ceramic brake pads at a cost of about $600. All was good for about 1500 miles when the exact same thing happened, except now it was the driver's side caliper. Fortunately, once again, I was driving on local roads at low speeds and by holding the pedal totally against the floor, I was able to drive over the curb onto a lawn without hitting anyone. if I had been on an Interstate, I don't see how it wouldn't have resulted in a serious accident. I have no parts or pictures from the first failure, only the receipt for work done, but the car is in the same repair shop as I write this and I will have the failed parts and pictures when I pick up the vehicle on Monday, 12/29/25. Two brake caliper failures, with no warning, at 70,000 and 71,500 miles is a scary scenario. I have no confidence in the vehicle's safety and will be disposing it as soon as it's fixed. Your system won't allow me to put in two dates for the two failures but the first was on 01/24/25 at approximately 70,000 miles and the second was today 12/26/25 at approximately 71,500 miles. The vehi

The engine light intermittently went off and on for a few weeks. During that time, the car would surge and slow/loose power while driving it, which was distracting when in traffic. The dealership found that coolant had leaked into the engine block and we were informed the engine had to be replaced. I talked to 2 dealerships and they both said this was something they had seen a lot - and while the engine for the Ford Escape was recalled, the same engine was not recalled for the Ford Fusion.
Lost power in the steering wheel. My safety and others is at risk because the steering wheel locks up completely at slow speeds and it's difficult to turn the steering wheel when turning a corner or trying to back up. The problem has been confirmed by an independent service center. The component has only been inspected by an independent service center. On 12/5/25 I received a warning on the dashboard, Steering Assist Fault. I drove to work and parked the car. When I got in the car around noon and proceeded to drive the steering wheel was really difficult to turn and I started seeing other notifications that flashed on the screen. As I drove the steering wheel because more difficult to turn. At low speed the steering wheel locked up and I managed to pull the car over to get out of traffic.
Rear view camera goes crazy when in reverse, sometimes shows a blank white screen, sometimes a message appears that the camera is not available and to contact a dealer, it will randomly activate while driving forward sometimes immediately after putting it in drive and other times after driving forward sometimes immediately a while after continuously driving for a while without having put it in reverse at at point. It also has no sound through any setting: radio, satellite, or Bluetooth

Driving at approximately 65 mph a maintenance light came on. While pulling over smoke filled the cabin of the vehicle. A large jolt occurred and the vehicle no longer had power to the wheels. Upon exiting the vehicle transmission fluid had coated the side of the car. It is available for inspection. Breathing in transmission smoke seems dangerous I have found other references to this problem on forums online It has not been inspected The maintenance light appeared just before failure. And the rest of the failure lights came on after.

On 11/6/2025 we were rear ended at a dead stop. The posted speed limit was 35mph. The Other driver that hit us did not see us or attempt to stop, this vehicle was a hummer. The car was totaled. The front passenger seat collapsed, tilted backwards in a laying down position during impact. Injuries did occur and are being treated. After the wreck I attempted to raise the electric seat , you can hear the motor trying to lift the seat but the seat would not move.

I am writing to report a widespread issue with the hands-free phone function in vehicles equipped with the Ford Sync System. The phone button used to connect a mobile device for hands-free calling does not work properly. Because of this malfunction, I am unable to use my phone in a hands-free manner while operating my vehicle, which creates a potential safety hazard and increases the risk of distracted driving. This issue appears to be common among other owners with the same Sync System, suggesting a possible defect in design or software. Since this feature is intended as a safety measure to help drivers stay focused on the road, I believe it should be investigated and repaired under a recall. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
