Safety Recall 23S12/NHTSA Recall 23V162 - Brake Fluid Leak Took my car in for recall fix. Was told they could not perform the fix for the following reasons: 1) First said it was because I had aftermarket winter tires and rims on it. Told them that once I change to my all-season tires and original rims in 2 weeks can I bring it back, they told me no. 2) Then said it was because the car has 133k miles on it, so said it was too old to work on, and up to dealer discretion (Stoneham Ford, Stoneham, MA) 3) Then said the car has rust underneath so can't work on it. It was just a myriad of excuses as to why they couldn't perform. They said to try another dealer.

I bought from a dealer in live oak and told there was no recalls I only had car 2 months and the car transmission is acting crazy it smells like burnt oil or brake fluid leaking the radio has a major electrical problem it turns off and resets if I use the Bluetooth to talk through radio. This car all in all has been nothing but huge problems and here I am paying a car note on a car that's barely drivable.
My daughter was on the way to work, in the middle of traffic going around another vehicle at the time and without any warning, the power steering just went out. It was as though the steering wheel locked up or there was no power steering capabilities whatsoever and she barely made it off of the roadway. This could have caused an accident and It scared her so bad that she was crying when she called me immediately after it happened. I didn’t know what to do so I told her to crank up, put the car in drive and see what it does. The steering was fully functional then so she drove on to work but was very nervous thinking it may happen again. I did read that there is a recall for this exact issue on particular models of Fusions but it does not include our model; therefore, I am submitting our complaint and requesting that the recall to be updated to include ALL models of 2013 Ford Fusions for the safety of ALL owners. Thank you!
Wipers stopped working. Had fused checked. Fuse was not the problem. Ford dealer to complete diagnostic testing as no other auto repair shop will fix the issue. There are 22 reports for faulty wipers, wipers not working, Ford refusal to issue a recall. Meanwhile, they issued a recall for pickup truck wiper recall. Obviously, it is possible Ford Fusion Titanium 2013 and other vehicles could suffer the same issue(s). The cost is hundreds of dollars and Ford says "oh well." Meanwhile vehicles cost $20,000 + no accountability for faulty parts.
I am receiving warning lights regarding my electronic parking brakes. I took my car to a Ford dealership in Ankeny for a recall on my front brake lines to be fixed and mentioned this to the maintenance dept. They couldn't do anything without putting my car on a scanner (or whatever they do) because, being a widow I did not have the $100 they charge. Thus I am still driving my car with the warning lights on. I hope it is safe for me to drive it.

COMPONENT FAILURE (ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING MODULE). MY STEERING WHEEL WHILE TURNING LEFT AND RIGHT, MADE A SCRATCHING NOISE. ALSO WHEN TURNING RIGHT AND LEFT, IT DROPPED AN INCH AND WHEN I TRIED RECOVERING IT WAS HARD TO CORRECT. IT WAS LIKE MANUAL STEERING OVER POWER STEERING. NO WARNING INDICATOR ON DASH EVER CAN ON. THIS ISSUE BEGAN RIGHT AFTER I PICKED UP THE CAR FROM THE DEALERSHIP WHEN THEY PERFORMED THE RECALL ON THE BRAKE HOSES.

As I was going down the highway my car started smoking dramatically. There were no warning lights so I assumed it might be a belt. I pulled to the side of the road and opened the hood to find flames coming from the backside of the engine. I have had it in the shop now for the last two months and the initial thought was that the water pump could have caused the issue. However, after that set of repairs it was burning oil. Further investigation has shown that the head is cracked.

Lug nuts are swollen and the factory lug wrench will not fit them. I already paid Ford $100 for the rear wheels, but now they recommend replacing the lugs on the front wheels too, for another $100.
Break lights will not turn off after week of high heat and humidity.
My complaint does not concern an accident. It concerns the two incomplete recalls referenced above. I have been trying to schedule these repairs since, I believe, February and the Service Department at the local Ford dealership, Mac Haik Ford, 4242 East Sam Houston Pkwy S, Pasadena, TX 77505, will not even respond to my requests to schedule the work. I have left detailed messages with the Haik contact representative (vehicle model and year, the Campaign/NHTSA numbers that I want to have done, my phone number, my email address, etc.) as requested by Haik's contact person and no one from the Service Department has ever responded, not even once. In order to give Ford and Haik a final chance before filing this complaint, I left TWO scheduling requests this week- one on Monday or Tuesday and one yesterday. The Service Department did not respond to either. However, in response to my repeated efforts to schedule this safety recall work, I have been spammed with car sales solicitation calls and emails back from the dealership beginning on March 1. (Perhaps earlier, but March 1 is the first undeleted email that is still on my computer.) These safety recall campaigns are not being administered, and processed as such by Ford Motor Company, at least not by its dealership in Pasadena, Texas. The Mac Haik dealership obviously has no interest in doing this recall work. I suppose they can make more money doing other work. In any event, Ford's recall notices are just used as sales prospect-ge
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the passenger’s side air bag warning light remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the passenger’s side seat belt sensor was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. I was driving on 7/26/2023 and the power steering system malfunctioned, resulting in complete loss of power steering. I received a warning message: "Steering Assist Malfunction Service Required" I lost control of the vehicle momentarily until I realized I could still steer, but with great difficulty. I pulled over, turned off the car, restarted it and regained power steering for a few seconds before it failed again, giving the aforementioned warning message. From that point, power steering was completely lost and did not come back after stopping and restarting again. Fortunately, I was able to get my car home without incident but it was very difficult to steer and making tight turns was impossible. I took the vehicle to Varsity Ford in Ann Arbor, MI who told me, "The power steering rack has an internal failure that won't reset or clear." They indicated that the only way to restore the power steering is by replacing the electronic power steering rack. I was quoted $3950.80 for this and my car is currently undergoing repair because I need a mode of transportation. There is a known issue with the Ford Fusion (https://www.consumerreports.org/consumerist/ford-recalls-nearly-445k-vehicles-for-power-steering-failure-fuel-leak-issues/) and Ford has issued recalls for 2011 to 2013 model years. Mine is a 2013, but the specific model (Energi) is not covered. I experienced the same issue so Ford's recall should cover the Energi model and I should be reimbursed for the repair costs.

The failure mileage was 140,000.
I have driven my car a little over 600 miles after the first recall was done for the engine overheat and a sensor was replaced. They drove it 0 miles to test drive it after (it shows on my paperwork) since around 600 miles it has sat because now my engine is actually overheating. I had no idea that I could contact ford again about this until recently and I have the paperwork and mileage to match. But I am afraid they will say the recall was performed and be of no help. Clearly they didn’t care enough to test drive the car after the fix. So I cannot trust them to properly take care of this problem.

The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V209000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) however, the manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The contact was then transferred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 125,000.
My fuel tank has an excessive build up of gasses and it causes a loud burping noise at the fuel door flap. I do have a Video of this incident.
My turbo boosters keep causing my wastegate to malfunction and stay open. Causing my car to accelerate on its own. The pedal pulls itself down.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed at night, the low-beam headlamps failed to adequately illuminate the roadway. My daughter in law just had her brakes serviced at Jack Demmer Ford and the next day the power steering suddenly failed while she was driving with my grand daughter in the back seat. She was unable to steer the car but did manage to stop safely. I understand the Electric Power Steering Assist (EPSA) failure is a very common problem on this vehicle and has been recalled on this model and year but not on her VIN. Now Ford says they cannot even look at the car for 3 weeks so she is driving my car while I will be driving hers with no power steering. I have owned and driven cars from 1966 to 2023 and never had power steering fail while the car was in motion. Older cars that never had power steering are still easy to steer and drive but the 2013 Fusion Hybrid is very difficult and almost impossible at lower speeds meaning she absolutely cannot drive the car. Amazing how she can get her car into the Ford dealership for brake maintenance but not for a immediate safety issue like not being able to steer.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
