2020 Ford F250 Super Duty, I have a Severe Death Wobble that has developed for the second time in a short period of time. The Ford Death Wobble is The Violent Shaking of the Vehicle can cause loss of control of the vehicle and difficulty steering wile vehicle is in operation at any time under typical driving conditions or speed. This exposes the driver and occupants of vehicle, as well as others who share the road with them, to an increased risk of accident, injury, or death. This description of death wobble was taken from a class action lawsuit that was filed in 2019. The first occurrence happened around 47,000 miles. I brought it in to the dealership; they said it was a steering damper not covered under the warranty. I paid for the replacement of steering damper. However the replacement did not fix the issue. I took it back in for further evaluation and repairs. After nearly a week of them having the vehicle at the dealership; they finally agreed to have the track bar replaced under warranty. The technician working on vehicle said that an axle needed to be replaced as well but it was not replaced at the time. After track bar was replaced; there was a drastic improvement and problem was resolved but short lived. About 7 months later and at 85,000 miles the death wobble has returned and is much worse. Due to the issue, steering is very loose and sloppy. causing you to catch the vehicle from side to side of the lane due to the steering wheel not being straight. setting off err

This vehicle was a 2 year old used one owner truck purchased from a Ford dealership. The dealership repaired an issue with the transmission which was based on harsh engagement when putting the truck in gear forwards and reverse. 2 months after receiving the truck and being repaired, the issue is happening again. There is a service bulletin and ford is aware of the issue but is not currently doing anything about it. This is a defective transmission and poses a safety risk. The lurch is so hard that you have put all your weight on the brake pedal to put it in gear and hope nothing or no person is in front or behind the truck and the truck happens to lurch enough to cause damage or bodily harm. Contacted the ford dealership and they want to pull the transmission to find the issue but all parts and new transmission are on back order with no availability date. They need to do this in order to reach out to ford. However, they have a current truck that has been sitting in the shop for 6 months with no available parts. Called ford corporate and they are not willing to work with me unless the truck is in the shop. My only two options right now are to drive the truck and hope the transmission does not lock up on the highway due to a failure or let a truck that I am making payments on sit in the shop for an unknown amount of time. Ford is forcing me into continuing to drive the truck as is with the potential risk of a transmission completely breaking at anytime on the highway.

Mine and my families saftey was at risk when the A/C failed to run during a trip home. It was a damp rainy day and the windshield completely fogged over on the inside. Running heat and opening windows would not clear the visibly issue. There was 0% visibility. I had to drive with my head out the window to slow to a stop and wait hours before the A/C resumed working. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? The problem has been reproduced every time I drive the truck and has been verified and attempted service by two separate Ford Dealers. The truck was with the first Dealer for 1.5 months. I am in communication with the second Dealer now. This was a Ford buy-back vehicle. The claim was that the vehicle was overheating and that a fan shroud was replaced to fix the issue. I am skeptical that there wasn't more to the issue that wasn't resolved. No warning prior to failure. July 2022 is when the problem caused me issue. I do believe the issue was there since I purchased the vehicle used in August 2021, but the vehicle was not driven much so it never affected me.

My 2020 Ford F-250 4x4, has 40,000. Has developed the "Death Wobble". I went over a expansion joint on a bridge at 55mph and the front wheels started violently shaking, it would not stop until I slowed to 5 mph. My mechanic replaced both the inner and outer drag links, although they were not very worn. After they were replaced the "Death Wobble" returned when I drove over another expansion joint. The mechanic again replaced both inner and outer drag links. I went to a Ford dealer and talked to the service writer and was told that Ford knows about this "Death Wobble" but their not going to fix-it. There are lots of complaints about this, and this needs to be fixed. When a truck gets into this "Death Wobble" it could very easily cause a accident. So far I have spent over $1000.00 in repairs with no guarantee that this problem is fixed!

On 4/24/2022, during a snow storm the passenger side wiper failed to work and came disconnected from the vehicle. The drivers side wiper stopped working and would not return to the downward (parked) position. Both wiper arms are stripped and non-functional. I was forced to wait for two days for weather/roads to clear before I could leave for my destination, due to the non-functioning wipers and weather. I tried to order new wiper arms from on-line dealers and third party dealers only to have all orders canceled as that there are no parts available, and that new availability was unknown. While in search of these parts, I found that there is a Ford recall on this issue, Safety notice #22S26 / NATSA #22V250. On 5/18/2022 I went to a Ford dealer for repairs and was told there are no parts, with no known time of receiving such parts. On 6/10/2022 I returned to the dealer and was told the same information, no parts. On 6/14/2022 I called Ford and was given a case number, and informed that the arrival of any new replacement parts was still unknown. The components in questions is transmission. My sister had borrowed my truck. She put the truck in park and walked back inside to grab an item. Her dog ran out of the house and at that moment she realized the truck was rolling forward. Luckily they was a passenger in the passenger seat that was quick to act and climbed over the middle console and pressed on the brake. There is a video of the insistent. The passenger then confirmed the truck was In park and moved the selector to reverse then park then reverse and park again. Please note the truck was on relatively flat ground. Not a huge incline hill. The truck could have killed the dog or even ran over my sister in her pursuit to get her dog away from the truck. They problem was attempted to be recreated at the moment of the incident but wasn’t retractable at the time. I will be checking it every time I drive the truck from hear on. No one was hurt so a report wasn’t filed with the police nor was it taken to the dealer for inspection. There was no warning lights illuminated at the time. However The gear selector did show park. I’m unable to upload the video just segments of the video. There is a full video.

Tailgate will open by itself going down the road and sometimes when parked. Key fob is in console not my pocket so I know the button is not being pressed accidentally. Some mornings when I leave for work it will be down. Seems to do it more often when I start truck, release parking brake and shift into reverse. If I’m pulling my trailer and it does this it’s going to damage tailgate also safety concern loosing cargo while going down road. I have checked the key fob and it takes two consecutive presses to open tailgate. That seems to work fine.

While driving and coming to stop two times the transmission downshifted rough causing the wrench light to come on saying powertrain/ four-wheel drive fault. Had to have the vehicle towed to my home and make appointment to have vehicle looked at the next week. I have read other forums and many people have been stating the same exact thing has happened to them in the 17+ year super duty’s and ford has been secretly fixing the issue when customers bring vehicle in for oil changes or service. I also read that the transmission doing this causes metal shavings to end up in the fluid and clog lines. I feel this is a severe issue if I would have been towing, it would have caused an accident.

I have been experiencing a light oscillation of the steering wheel when hitting expansion joints and bumps in the road at highway speeds (50-75 MPH). Today when I hit the same expansion joint/ bump, my steering wheel oscillated violently, the truck shook violently and the brakes were not very effective in slowing the truck. This lasted about 3 to 5 seconds. I was travelling about 70 MPH when this occurred and I did not see the speed where it stopped as I was a bit shaken up.

After hitting a bump/pothole on the road a violent shaking took place throughout the vehicle, the steering wheel shook violently. I was able to slow down to approximately 10mph and the vibration stopped. I then continued on my journey. It happened another 5 times. This happened in a construction zone with no where to pull off. Through sheer strength I was able to control the truck, but vehicles behind me had to slow down as well. No inspection done as yet, vehicle going to dealer on 03/07/2022. This is the 6th time this has happened. All driving speeds from 60-75 mph. Will hit a random bump in the road and the front end will go in to a severe death wobble. When this happens you cannot steer the vehicle, or stop it easily. The only way to make it stop is to get slowed down to 20 mph or so. We have had it at the dealership we’ve purchased it from several times with no fix yet. It has become scary to drive for both me and my wife. Ford should have a recall out before it kills anybody.

While driving the vehicle on a Ft Worth toll road at 70 mph, below posted speed limit of 75, truck and steering wheel began to shake violently. Luckily there was light traffic that kept me from causing an accident before I could get it stopped. Took vehicle to Ford dealer and was told my vin # is not included in trucks that Ford has been fixing. An internet search of "F250 death wobble" will show how widespread this problem is. High speed wobble when driving over un even pavement such as a transition from asphalt to concrete. if turning slightly while driving 60 - 70 miles/hr and you run over slightly rough pavement, it will start to wobble violently and you have to slow to 25 or 30 miles/hr for it to stop. when you are on a multi lane highway and on the inside lane(s) you have to navigate to the shoulder to slow down and it is very dangerous. there is many internet articles reflecting this exact situation and it is a design defect with the F250. I would hope a recall would be issued to require Ford to fix this problem before someone is killed. Right now the only option available is to buy and after market stabilizer to try and minimize this issue. thanks

Transmission will not shift and sends you into high rpms just for you to let out and eventually have to stop or put in neutral to sort of reset shifting. It also will, out of nowhere, not move when you hit accelerator. This happened to me several times pulling into traffic. Hit the accelerator to go only to have enough to get you in traffic and no more acceleration. A delay for up to 3-5 seconds. This was the most dangerous aspect of the truck. The other dangerous aspect due to transmission is that when putting in gear the truck would slam you forward. If you didn't have a firm foot on brake you would be slamming into whatever is in front of you. When I say form foot, I mean [XXX] near standing in it. It is in ford shop currently. Not sure what to do with this truck after I get it back. Been in shop 3 weeks without any update to what is wrong. Severe hesitation when accelerating from a crawl. There is a definite issue with either the 10 speed trans or the throttle.

Unknown or Other
Filed Jul 19, 2021NY

On numerous occasions when trying to accelerate to merge into traffic, the throttle does not respond to the request for multiple seconds, then power is returned and truck lunges. This has caused merging traffic to not understand my intention and they overcompensate. This also happens when trying to overcome another vehicle, which could lead to inability and raises risk of not having enough anticipated lead time to overcome other vehicle.

LATER DIAGNOSIS AT DEALERSHIP SHOWED THE PROBLEM TO BE A DEFECTIVE SPARK PLUG WIRE. I HAVE SINCE READ THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE NEW 7.3 GAS ENGINE BY FORD.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
