While towing my 15,500 GVWR fifth wheel at approximately 60 mph on the 210 fwy in a construction zone I encountered some very rough asphalt repairs just on the drivers side of the lane. I had a, close to the lane, K-rail on the passenger side and one lane next to me on the drivers side with a K-rail on the drivers side of that lane. When I hit the rough pavement my wheels started to oscillate violently back and forth and pulled me about 3 feet into the next lane on the drivers side. Luckily there was not anyone in the lane at the time. I forced the wheel to the right and straightened out when I got back in the right lane but the "Death Wobble" continued so I slowed down to about 35 mph and the wobbling finally stopped. The rest of the 3 day trip I stayed at or below 55 mph to be safe. I could have been much worse had there been someone in the next lane or if it had pulled me to the right into the K-rail. Someone could have been injured or killed. I took the truck to Upland ford in California and they said that the steering stabilizer, both drag links and the track bar needed to be replaced but that the stabilizer was on back order. I also took it to Sunrise Ford in Fontana California, where I bought the truck, and they confirmed that I needed the exact same things plus they included that the tie rods needed to be replaced. I have about 22,200 miles on the truck and it is out of the factory warranty. I have an extended warranty with Portfolio Protection and Sunrise Ford had 2

The truck violently shakes at about 47 MPH for unknown reasons. The dealership that I purchased it At's service writer stated that there a multitude of reporting's for this very issue but the volume of complaints prevents them from even diagnosing the problem for several months. Also if I required a loaner vehicle it would be even longer. I have already spent about $1500.00 of my own money trying to address this problem through a different front end mechanical specialty shop. The service writer at Don Chalmers Ford in Rio Rancho , New Mexico also stated that from my warranty and service policy the problem could be covered. I use my tuck to pull a trailer for my business and this problem is having a negative impact on my business.
The truck began shaking uncontrollably at approximately 70mph.. fortunately I was in the right lane , and traffic wasn’t very busy, and I was able to get the truck off the side of the road without creating an accident.. I have owned the truck since it was new, and have not experienced any issue until now! The truck has just over 40,000 miles on it. Took truck to dealership to be inspected and they said everything looks good.. but they also said that the part that I needed was on back order. At the current time I’m waiting on repairs to be made, but I am very uneasy about the safety of the vehicle now..
Truck is experiencing condition that is commonly referred to as the death wobble on the internet. Traveling at 50 plus miles an hour and hit a small bump in the road and the truck immediately begins to shake and vibrate uncontrollably. Only way to stop the shaking is to come to almost a complete stop. This is a very serious and dangerous condition. Imagine traveling down the highway at 60 miles an hour and having to come to almost a complete stop with other trucks and cars wizzing past you. Not to mention the car that has to take evasive action behind you to keep from running into your vehicle. This is a very real and serious defect with the Ford F250 that Ford needs to take immediate ownership and corrective action. Truck shakes violently when encountering uneven pavement at speeds in excess of 55mph. Difficult to keep the vehicle in the road when this happens and speed must be reduced to <35mph for it to subside. Unsafe activity to need your take when traveling on highway. Please consider issuing a recall for this ‘death wobble’ before someone is hurt or killed.
I bought my 2019 F250 Super Duty diesel 4x4 brand new in December 2019. My truck has had and continues to have very, very serious returning "Death Wobble" issues. At least 10 times in 3 years! The dealership has already replaced the steering "damper" once and now it is time to replace it again, yes a second time. The truck only has 31000 miles. My wife, for the first time, experienced this "Death Wobble" on last weeks trip to Louisiana. It happened 3 times in the course of 500 miles. She was scared half to death! And rightly so as every time it happens it scares me to because of the very, very violent shaking of the truck. And it makes me wonder if I can regain control without causing an accident or crashing!!!! You cannot imagine how bad this "Death Wobble is unless you experience it happening yourself. I think you should have FORD take a serious look at this issue and figure something out before someone dies via "Death Wobbling Ford Trucks"!!! I am sure that I'm not alone with this issue with with Ford truck "Death Wobble"!!!!!! Please help!
When I’m driving the truck and I am at speeds 50 mph + and hit a pothole or crack in the road I get the death wobble. The steering wheel will violently shake in my hands and the whole front end too. It is difficult to control. I have to slow down the truck and even come to a complete stop to get it to stop. It’s been so bad at times I hear the front tires start chirping like I’m doing a hopping burnout.
Truck has what is now commonly called the "Death Wobble". This is, unfortunately, a common problem with F250 Super Duty trucks. This is a very dangerous loss of control at typical highway speeds. Uncontrollable shaking after hitting minor roadway bumps at speed. The fact that Ford is fully aware of the issue and has not done a recall is hard to believe. Do people have to die on the road because Ford won't recognize this issue? My truck has only 22,000 miles on it but is off warranty as 3 years have passed since date of purchase, low miles due to Covid! I have been told by Ford that some some of the trucks are covered but, unfortunately, mine is not. I guess only the broken ones aren't covered...
Driving on interstate and all of a sudden the truck began to shake uncontrollably, so much so I could not hold the wheel. I some how managed not to hit anyone or anything and got it off on to the side of the road. I cut the tuck off, checked to see if anything look broke or if I blew out both front tires. All appeared to be in order.
Yesterday, my wife and I were on highway 169 in tulsa oklahoma traveling 65 mph and the truck started wobbling uncontrollably I had to get off of highway onto grassy area to get control of truck. This was my second time to experience the wobble shaking and it was more severe than previous one that happened 1 week prior
Death wobble at 70 mph twice within 10 minutes.
I experienced the death wobble at highway speeds of 70mph 4 times in less then one week on a vacation trip. Luckily it was on straight sections of the road. It requires slamming on the breaks and slowing the speed to less the 25mph to get the vehicle back under control. Extremely dangerous and should be immediate recall! I have great dash cam footage of several of the incidents. Thanks [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
When traveling at highway speed, experienced the "death wobble". The front end and steering wheel shakes violently making steering impossible. Slow down to about 40mph and it stops. This has occurred 3 times when hitting a bump. Occurred once with just the truck and twice while pulling a 5th wheel. Ford dealer replaced tie rod ends etc but still Occurred after that, now waiting on a new steering damper.
At highway speeds (65-70 mph) if a pot hole or rough expansion joint is hit the vehicle begins to shake violently. Very difficult to control and steer. When breaking gets down to about 45 mph the violent shaking stops.
Violent shaking at 55-65mph on highway Lost control of steering Case 37164316
Shakes pretty bad
3rd time in a week- Death Wobbke while driving in heavy traffic. This is not safe!! No warning light ms our sounds- just starts violently shaking while driving out of the blue. In order to make it stop- you have to immediately slow down and pull over. This is challenging in that while driving at a high speed (within speed limits) on a major Hwy, you cannot just slow down immediately or pull over immediately. In addition, it happens so quickly and is so violent (major shaking and wobble) that you are taken off guard and driving becomes unsafe for ourselves and for drivers around you. Ford is aware of this problem. Our mechanics don’t have a fix all solution. For the price you pay for this vehicle, the consumer should not have to pay for a fix like this, even if there was one. This is NOT safe.
While driving on the highway all of sudden the front end of the truck starts to shake(its being called the death wobble) and you have no control over the vehicle until the shakes stop. When this first happened 2 months ago I brought it into the dealer and they told me that it is called the death wobble and they were going to fix it. Well, it wasn't as it just happened again yesterday.
We started having a death wobble while driving between 60-70mph where the steering wheel shook Violently and the vehicle shook so back it hurt and scared me and my kids in the back seat. It was very scary and almost caused me to wreck with my kids in the car on the interstate. We then looked up and saw there was a recall for this problem. We took the truck into a dealership and got it supposedly repaired. It did not work. Roughly 1 month later. I was trusting Ford fixed the issue and on the interstate again and almost wrecked a second time with the kids in the car. This truck shouldn’t be allowed on the road of ford doesn’t have a fix. My business partner has the exact same truck and the exact same scenario occurred where he got the issue fixed at a dealership after almost crashing only to have it happen again. Currently we don’t know what to do as we paid big bucks for a vehicle that isn’t safe to drive,

After going over bump in the road truck starts bouncing uncontrollable, like the left tire in bouncing like a basketball to a point of almost losing control, until i can slow down to a stop ,then when I speed back up it stops. I have only experienced this two times both in the last month the truck has about 32000 miles. I have taken it to dealership for maintenance but I don't think they really know what's going on.
My truck has experienced the "death wobble" to my understanding the damper linkage is the malfunction. I reported this last year with Ford, but could NEVER get the part in. Now the truck wobbles and the steering wheel shakes violently with any little hole you run over. I have small children in the vehicle constantly and in the past 2 weeks it has shaken at least 4 times going over speeds of 50moh on the highway and the only way to make it stop is to immediately pull over and stop. I am afraid it will happen and I will not be able to control it.
Traveling at highway speeds I hit a bump and it started to wobble. Some call it the death wobble.
Oh June 15th, in the middle of the afternoon around 2-3 pm, I was traveling NW on SH114, in the toll express lane, from Dallas towards Grapevine after a minor medical procedure, when my truck apparently hit a small hole or bump, which caused it to vibrate violently simultaneously from both front wheels, as if they weren't even in contact with the pavement. It took a lot of effort to keep the vehicle from crashing into the concrete walled barriers which are located on either side of that lane. I ended up having to slow to essentially a complete stop before the violent shaking stopped. Once the truck was under control, I noticed that my incision site had swollen greatly, as if a tennis ball was in my neck. An artery had ruptured as a result necessitating my wife to meet me and transport me to the hospital/clinic for emergency repairs, as the wild and uncontrolled vehicle and the effort to control it had caused an artery to rupture in my neck. I now understand this to be what is commonly called Death Wobble. I am lucky I didn't crash, and I am even luckier that I am not dead from bleeding out. That incident and the resulting several weeks that followed necessitated a bunch of follow up visits and being off work as well as no physical activity, in addition to the trauma, pain, and now the fear of my truck doing this again in the future. My truck is available for inspection. I have reached out to Ford through live chat, social media and telephone, but I have received not response
Driving and hit rough road and front end wobbles tell I slow down. Once pulling a camper and another time I was not pulling a trailer. Speed was 65mph, had to slow down pull over and restart. Others call this the Ford death wobble and I agree!
Death wobble occurs at speeds at or around 50 to 70 mph on june 22,2022 , yes the the truck became uncontrollable and steering was do to the wobbling, the vehicle is currently at a ford dealer ship awaiting for repairs to the front end, dealer acted if the truck could not be repair upon dropping off the truck due to a back order problem for the part needed, there is no type of warning light or indicator to prewarn of this event happening. could very easily cause an accident or roll over
Violent steering wheel shaking. Death wobble. Almost hit concrete wall
When I'm on the highway going between 45-75 MPH, and I encounter a bump or deviation in the pavement, The front end steering will begin to violently cavitate and wobble. The truck speed must be immediately reduced in order to regain control and stop cavitation of front end. I usually have to slow down to 35 MPH to get it to stop. This causes traffic behind me to swerve to avoid me and has almost lead to several accidents. Ford Dealer, Jordan Ford, told me that the replacement Stabilizer absorber has been back ordered for 3 months and they have a lot of people waiting on them. I told Dealer Rep about this issue already and they commented that if it doesn't do it all the time , I shouldn't worry about it. I understand supply issues are considerable, but this is a safety issue that should take precedence before someone is killed.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-250. The contact stated while driving 80 MPH, the vehicle started staking without warning. The contact was able to pull over on the side of the road and after several minutes the vehicle started operating as designed. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred. An appointment with the dealer was scheduled for the vehicle to be diagnosed. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 45,000.
Above 60 mph if my truck hits even the smallest pavement imperfection or small pot hole my truck will begin to vibrate uncontrollably. The vibration will continue until I slow below 50 and the vibration will go away. Watching videos on the internet, they refer to it as "Death Wobble". VERY dangerous situation and I will not allow anyone to drive my truck but me.
When the vehicle is traveling over a certain speed and hits bumps or uneven road it loses control of the steering wheel.
While driving on the freeway at approximately 70 mph I drove over a overpass that had a had a rise in the transition between the road and the overpass. After driving over the bump my steering wheel began to shake violently. I had to apply the brakes and at approximately 25mph the shake stopped. I continued down the freeway and I in countered a section that had somewhat bumpy expansion joints and once again the steering wheel began to shake violently and I had to slow down to approximately 20 mph to get the shaking to stop. During both these incidents it was very difficult to control the vehicle putting all the vehicles around in danger of me losing control, keep in mind this was a 4 lane freeway with a speed limit of 70 mph and heavy traffic !.
While driving on freeway at 65 mph the truck began to shake violently. Slowed down to 40 mph and shaking eventually stopped. Extremely hard to steer vehicle during the shaking.
Driving 75 mph on the interstate and truck steering wheel and entire front end started to shake uncontrollably and almost pulled me into the other lane where another vehicle was. Would continue to shake until the vehicle speed would get below 45 mph. Has happened numerous times. Started doing this May 25, 2022. 84k miles on the truck
I was driving on the interstate and when I hit the expansion joint on a bridge, my truck and steering wheel began shaking uncontrollably. I was lucky to be in a situation that I could slow down quickly and pull off the road without getting into a serious accident. I talked to some other F250 owners and they said it was a common thing with these trucks and they referred to it as the "Death Wobble". It is an EXTREMELY DANGEROUS issue that needs to be handled. I am taking it in to the Ford dealership tomorrow, but I hear that they don't have any fix for it now.
On 2 Jun 22, on I-24W near Nashville, while driving at the posted speed limit (65mph), I hit a pothole. The front end started oscillating which made it very difficult to maintain control. I slowed and pulled off the highway. The bouncing stopped just before pulling off. I inspected the tires for possible damage. There was none. Later the same day on I-65N north of Indianapolis, also driving near the posted speed limit (70mph) I hit an expansion joint, and the oscillation recurred until I slowed down to under 45mph. On 6 Jun22 travelling on I-65S I experienced the same oscillation on three occasions after hitting a bump at a bridge, a rough place in the road and a small pothole. On 7 Jun 22, while traveling on I-75S I experienced two more incidents due to bumps on the road. In all 5 instances the oscillation stopped after slowing to ~45mph. These incidents caused a severe lack of control putting me and other drivers at risk. This problem has been widely reported in online forums and in other complaints to NHTSA. There were not warnings or symptoms prior to the failure. Ford appears to be aware of the problem, issuing TSB 18-2268, but has yet to issue a recall.
Driving down interstate and on the off ramp running 65 mph experienced a "death wobble" in the curve. Very lucky I was able to recover and not roll the truck and run into other vehicles that were nearby.
AT 60-70 MPH THE FRONT END BEGINS A SERIES OF VIOLENT SHIMMY OR WOBBLES. IT IS A RECURRING ISSUE. THE SERVICE TECHS REFER TO IT AS THE DEATH WOBBLE. i WAS TOLD IT NEEDED A STEERING GEAR REPLACE INITIALLY. TODAY I WAS TOLD IT WAS A STEERING DAMPNER. I HAD THE TRUCK EVALUATED ON 5/26/22 AT PHIL LONG FORD AT MOTOR CITY WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW. I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS "WOBBLE" COULD CAUSE A LOSS OF CONTROL AND JEOPADIZE MY SAFTEY AS WELL AS ANY FAMILY MEMBERS THAT MAY BE TRAVELING WITH ME
I’ve experienced the death wobble, uncontrollable shaking from front end. Very violent and scary. Hard to control vehicle. It happens any time over 65mph. I called ford they said there was an open campaign on the shaking however the parts are not available at this time my truck is not drivable
Front suspension system will shake uncontrollably when I hit a pot whole are RR tracks. Very serious when pulling 12000 lb camper
When driving the front end will begin to violently shake making it almost impossible to maintain control. This seems to be triggered when driving on the highway and when hitting a transition in the road or any type of bump no matter how small. The only way to stop the shake is to quickly get off the road and stop. The dealership has been made aware and did a temporary fix, very temporary. We have contacted them several times and have been told there's nothing they can do.
Problem is in the front end suspension that effects the steering when the truck begins to suddenly shake violently at around 63 mph--a simple expansion crack in the road, or a bridge crossing initiates the event. The steering wheel has nearly been jerked out of my hands at said speed and only stops after rapid slow-down. This first happened when the truck had about 20,000 miles on it and was on a two lane, well-maintained highway in east central Illinois. A couple of other violent events have occurred since that time and many others were stopped by my immediate slow-down; a hazard to drivers following closely behind. The first time it happened, I thought a tire had exploded or a wheel had come off the truck and I slowed and pulled off to the side of a two lane road (emergency flashers were put on to warn other cars). The man I was with and I walked all around the truck and examined what had come loose or off, and found nothing. I had already had the tires rotated twice, but had them again rotated and balanced within about 10 days. I took the truck back to the dealer for a rear axle recall, but I stressed at this time, that there was a serious issue with the front end. I described the violent wobbling and steering wheel jerking to the head maintenance man at Poage Ford Dealer in Bowling Green Missouri and he admitted that Ford had a real problem and, at least 3 other owners had the same complaints, and parts would be ordered (steering damper suggested but mechanic didn't know
Hit a bump in the road and the front suspension starting shaking and the steering wheel became very hard to hold onto because of the violent shaking. The vehicle almost flipped over before i could get stopped. Ford replaced the steering damper but i still feel more bouncing from the front suspension. I think there are more issues than just the steering damper.
While driving on the freeway my steering wheel shakes uncontrollably this does not happen often but it’s happened in three times since I’ve had the vehicle. Happened today for the third time while I was driving about to exit off the freeway felt like I had a blowout scared the daylights out of me. Thankfully I was able to control the steering wheel and exit freeway
Experienced the "Death Shaking" 7 times while on our way to Talladega while towing a 6 ton camper. It would shake violently until I brought the rig to a stop. We were able to nurse it to Tony Serra Ford in Sylacauga AL., where they replaced the steering linkage damper. This is a serious issue because of the potential for control loss.
When driving on Highway any time you are going over 50 mph and hit a bump, pot hole, or seam on a bridge, the truck’s front end starts shaking violently and you have to slow the truck down under 40 mph to get the truck to drive normal. This has happened numerous times over the past 3 years.
Extreme shake and vibration and looses all control on vehicle at speeds 40 mph or higher once a bump or uneven roadway. Very unsafe and huge risk to driver and other drivers. Ford knows of this issue as there have been many reports in past including class action lawsuit. 2019 Ford F250 16k miles
My husband and I were driving 70mph, the speed limit was 75mph. Our truck encountered a bump in the road and then began to shake violently. My husband immediately let off the gas and pulled to the side of the road but the truck continued to violently shake until it reached about 45mph. On the same day while driving down the interstate the truck encountered another bump in the road and did the same thing. My husband could not stop or control the truck from shaking. We were lucky there were not many other vehicles around us or it could have caused an accident. The truck only has 18,000 miles on it.
At highway speeds, if you hit a bump in the road, the front end shakes violently and will not stop until you slow way down or pull off the road. I have called and scheduled an inspection with the dealer and when I described the problem they said "oh, you have the death wobble" I purchased the vehicle in Dec 2020 and first noticed this issue the following month or so....with seemingly increasing frequency.
Hitting certain bumps or transitions at higher speeds, the truck goes into the death wobble and is close to uncontrollable with bouncing and shuddering until you pull over and come to a stop.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
