Transmission issues. Had to do a complete replacement of transmission. Drum broke at 120,000 miles.
The Transmission failed. Before the mechanical light went on. As I was driving the vehicle it was having issues switching gears. And at times would loose power and then rev up and speed up. Loss of power and speeding up is a dangerous and frightening situation in a vehicle going at any speed and even more so while traveling on a highway. I had the vehicle towed to the nearest Ford dealership. In speaking with the service manager they recommended replacing the transmission due to the error codes that were produced in the computer. They stated that this was a common issue in this make and model and a replacement would be the best option to avoid future issues. And after researching the issue online there are many people having this same issue. It’s a $10,000 fix and FORD is aware of it and yet there still is no recall on the failure in these transmissions!! Error codes P2703; P2705; P0767
Purchased Dec 4, 2019; followed maintenance requirements through BO Beukcman Quality Ford. Oil changes made IAW Ford guidelines every 5000 miles. Oil change was made Nov 23, 2023 at 49,504 miles. Just before next oil change noticed engine knocking on acceleration/deceleration with intermittent check engine light on. Oil changed at 54,226 miles (Aug 22, 2024). Condition mentioned to dealer. Dealer advised engine was consuming oil. There was no visible sign of leaks. Fix -- install new dip stick, reprogram the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Rationale: Ford TSB 19-2365 Dec 5, 2019 quoted as follows: oil consumption "may be due to high intake manifold vacuum during some deceleration fuel shut off (DFSO) events resulting in oil being pulled into the combustion chamber from the crankcase, valve guides and positive crankcase ventilation (PCV)". Supposedly reprogramming would reduce engine vacuum during DFSO events (note: I noticed knocking on acceleration). At the dealership inquired why Ford did not advise customers of condition. They could not answer my question. My F-150 is a 5.0L V8 and was described by dealer as a Coyote engine. I asked if they had similar maintenance events like mine; answer - yes. I was disappointed; have owned previous F-150s and none "consumed" oil like this -- my previous truck had 150,000+ miles -- no oil burning. The dealer instructed me to bring the vehicle back every 1000 miles to check dipstick for consumption. Returned vehicle to dealer at 55,626 a

The contact owned a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the transmission was skipping between the 4th, 7th, and 8th gears. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that while driving and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle was jerking and lurching forward significantly. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times; however, the failure could not be replicated. The contact stated while accelerating from a complete stop and making a turn, the vehicle failed to respond as needed and rolled to a stop in the middle of the highway, nearly causing a crash. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle several times, and the contact was able to drive to the dealer at a significantly slower speed. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then taken to another dealer, Fort Mill Ford (801 Gold Hill Rd, Fort Mill, SC 29708), where the transmission was replaced. The vehicle was repaired. Additionally, the vehicle experienced cam phaser failure and was sold due to the repair cost. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
2019 Ford 10 speed transmission has been shift hard when slowing down and then accelerating. This week while driving 65 mph the collision warning came on and truck slowed down. There was no traffic near me for any collision. Since then the transmission is not shifting correctly.i had one occasion where the transmission shifted from 8th gear to 1st gear. Very hard, or pausing and then shifting hard. Coming into highway it paused, loss power in front of of oncoming traffic. Very dangerous so I immediately took my vehicle to Ford Dealer and also call the Ford Customer relations to report issue. There is only 75,000 miles on the truck. In research I have found know issues with exact same issues on this transmission. However no recall for my vehicle. This is poor safety and poor customer satisfaction for Ford.
Rough idle engine noise at stop, engine stalls out and dies. No check engine lights present, Auto start/stop system light comes on indicating its disabled and to shift to park and restart engine.
10 speed transmission started down shifting randomly, while on interstate or city driving. I had to start driving it in manual until I could get transmission replaced at dealership. This is happening to all these 10 speed transmissions from 2018- ~2023 ford and GM vehicles. This could have caused a fatality.
Having major issues with the auto stop control, it has turned the truck off while sitting in the middle of an intersection, has stalled my truck multiple times in busy areas of on coming traffic, has shortened my battery life and my starter, and it has shown different warning icons. The power train is also acting up by hard shifting, not wanting to switch gears, skipping gears, and also making it difficult to pin point problem. My rear left brake functions are causing an issue as well, some function is making my brakes either stick or something because I get a burning odor constantly coming from my rear wheel even after changing my brakes and rotors.
Transmission shift rough, driving down the road shifts down to first gear, and sometimes does shift into 3rd-4th gear going down the and basically stops me in the middle of traffic until it finally decides to shift. I brought it to ford the first they said the transmission computer needed to be reset, so they did that and it was even worse when I left the parking lot. So I called them the next morning, and they told me to bring it back in that's when they told me my transmission needed to be replaced for $8,000 When I started doing research I found this is a common problem with this certain transmission i called ford corporation and the lady proceeded to tell me they are aware of the issue with this transmission and they are working on a remedy for the issue but they were only willing to pay for half of the cost. But if they know there is a issue(a safety issue) with this transmission then why not fix it for me. Ford 10r80 transmission
2019 Ford F150 eco boost lariatTransmission 10 speed failed! About killed me twice pulling out into traffic! Harsh shifting Jerking Hesitations during acceleration Unexpected losses of power Slipped gears However it wasn’t on the recall list but doing the same thing as the ones recalled .! Which I feel is Bs in why they didn’t recall all 10 speed transmissions!
Vehicle shifts gears in automatic transmission at highway speeds all the way down to first gear . this causes vehicle to lurch in an unexpected manner. now transmission frequently won't engage at all.
The metal fuel line from the canister up to the high press fuel rail developed a crack and ruptured without warning. The vehicle was unsafe to drive because it poured a significant amount of gasoline onto the ground when the fuel pump came on. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for repair. The fuel line was inspected by the dealer's technician, rupture was confirmed and both fuel supply and return lines were replaced. After repair was performed, the dealer service representative showed me the fuel line that was replaced.
UNKNOWN. Truck has issues switching gears. Pulled out on the highway and truck wouldn’t shift out of 2nd gear. I almost got rear ended because the truck would not shift into the higher gears. It finally shifted real hard out of 2nd gear, then started shifting back to lower gears even though I wasn’t slowing down. This incident with it not shifting out of 2nd only happened once so far, but the shifting between gears has been erratic the last few weeks. Talking to other people who own F-150’s, this seems like a common issue with these trucks.
Truck was taken in for cam phasers issues multiple times and said was covered under 21n03. Ford won’t say why other than it doesn’t fall in serial number break. 21n03 says there is no sn distinction just has to be made at these plants which mine was. I have been lied to multiple times by ford and have come to them with new information and still told they won’t even look at case because I have been denied once already. I had to pay 5k out of pocket and cam phasers are now failing again within 90days. Ford is a joke and doesn’t stand behind what they build. (I AM NOW FULLY AWARE) FORD HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND HAS NOT TAKEN THE SAFETY PRECAUTIONS OR REMEDIES FOR CONSUMERS THAT OWN THEIR PRODUCT TO GET THIS FIXED BEFORE A SERIOUS/DEADLY INCIDENT OCCURS *MAY YOU PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS EXTREME KNOWN PROBLEM BECAUSE AT TIMES I FEAR FOR MYSELF, MY FAMILY AND EVEN THE DRIVING COMMUNITY FOR THEIR SAFETY BECAUSE OF WHAT MY TRUCK MAY DO OR NOT DO WHILE I AM DRIVING THIS UNSAFE VEHICLE IN OUR PUBLIC ROADWAYS/HIGHWAYS. *THE COMPONENT IN QUESTION IS THE TRANSMISSION "10R80". *AT RISK IS THAT TRUCK STOPS OR LOSES SPEED IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING. IT IS ESPECIALLY DANGERS WHEN GOING THRU A 4 WAY STOP AND TRUCK ALMOST COMES TO A STOP BECAUSE IT HAS NO SPEED AND HAVE ENCOUNTERD CLOSE CALLS TO BE HIT OR T BONED BY OTHER VEHICLES. *THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN ON ONGOING DISPUTE WITH CONSUMERS AND FORD ABOUT THE EXTREME PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION THAT INCLUDE HARSH SHIFTING, JERKING,HESITATION, CONSTANT SUDDEN DOWNSHIFTS,DIFFICULTY SHIFTING GEARS, AND EVEN AN OCCASIONAL LOSS OF POWER WHILE IN MOTION. OTHER DESCRIPTIONS THAT I EXPERIENCE IS NOTICEABLE LURCHES DURING GEAR CHANGES *I RECENTLY PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE AND I WAS FULLY UNAWARE OF IT PROBLEMS NOR WAS IT MENTIONED TO ME BY THE USED CAR SALESMAN AND MANAGER THAT THEY HAD A TRUCK IN THEIR LOT WITH EXTREME TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. *AT FIRST PURCHASED ([XXX]) THERE WAS NO WARNING SIGNS BUT MAYBE AFTER A MONTH OR SO IS WHEN THE TRUCK SHOWED A "WRENCH" SYMBOL ON THE DASH AS TO SHOW THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM. BUT SOMEHOW IT RESETS EVERYTIME YOU TURN OFF TRUCK AND RESTART AS IF SHOWING NO PROBLEM EXISTS. I HAVE LEARNED TO DEAL WITH IT SINCE THAN BUT NOW IT IS JUST GETTING WORSE. *I HAVE NOT TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE I AM NOT READY TO PAY FOR A PROBLEM THAT (I AM NOW FULLY AWARE) FORD HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND HAS NOT TAKEN THE SAFETY PRECAUTIONS OR REMEDIES FOR CONSUMERS THAT OWN THEIR PRODUCT TO GET THIS FIXED BEFORE A SERIOUS/DEADLY INCIDEN

Vehicle hesitates shifting into 4th gear especially when first leaving the driveway and attempting to accelerate to pace of traffic. The hesitation is enough to make your head lurch forward, followed by a harsh engagement of 4th gear. I’m concerned I may be rear ended due to lack of power. The problem has happened continually. No MIL lights or any other problems. The vehicle will be scheduled for service.
On December 7 2024 I parked the vehicle in a driveway and left the engine running. The vehicle's gear selector was firmly in park and the emergency brake was not set. I sat in the vehicle for a few minutes waiting for my friend. While waiting and the vehicle still in park and still running, I exited the vehicle to adjust the back set. I left the driver door open, and opened the rear driver's side door to fold down the rear seat, and move items out of the way. While doing so the vehicle suddenly began drifting backwards. I immediately stepped backwards and watched the vehicle roll backwards down the driveway approximately 5-10 feet. The vehicle then stopped. I then got into the cab and put the emergency brake on. The vehicle has had prior service for transmission shifting issues and was reprogrammed. This initially helped but over time the transmission began exhibiting shifting issues. In general, after start up, the first time the vehicle shifts from 3rd to 4th gear the shift may feel hard and as if the brakes are being applied. This occurs intermittently.
My truck has been suddenly and unexpectedly downshifting into first gear at any speed. At times, it would not engage the transmission at low gears leaving me stuck in the middle of the intersection or at a stop light. The Ford service department indicated that the10r80 transmission has to be rebuilt due to the CDF drum going bad. According to the service department, this seems to be a common issue with a Ford 150 10 speed truck. I have read that the 2017-2019 Ford six speed transmissions has a safety recall. It seems that Ford has built a substandard 6 and 10 speed transmission putting people in risk of injury due to a malfunctioning transmission.
I never got contacted about any recall on my vehicle from dealership.
While driving this morning 12/6/24 I pulled out of a driveway going between 5-10 mph and my truck completely turned off. The dashboard said...."Auto StartStop Shift to P, then Restart Engine" My truck had no lights, the steering wheel became stiff, I couldnt steer, the brake became very plyable almost unusable, I was completely stuck in the middle of the road! I had to put my truck in park and restart it. Luckily it started and didnt cause an accident. This is the 3rd time this has happened since I owned this vehicle. This is extremely dangerous and very scary!
Vehicle unexpected slips out of gear between gear 3 to 4 change. Vehicle rolls free like it would if it was in neutral.
10 speed transmission jumps gears causes truck to jump violently or not go at all. I turned onto a busy road to get my daughter from school and it went from 7 to 1 and I was stuck. I could have been hit, thankful my daughter was not in the car it was terrifying. Happened more than once. Now it’s parked at home unable to drive, scared to death I will get into an accident.
The 10R80 10 speed automatic transmission has faulty design that causes the truck to lurch and clunk while shifting. This induces dangerous shifts between high and low gears and a high rate of speed. It also results in loss of power while trying to merge onto the highway.

Automatic transmission shifting very harsh and lags at times. When pulling onto or across the highway from a stop the transmission will lag and will almost stop between gears posing the risk of a being struck from behind or from the side by other vehicles. At highway speed the transmission will show it as being in 10th gear but will suddenly act as if in neutral and the gear inductor light shows 4th gear or lower and as if all pulling power is lost. This has happened on a couple of different occasions causing me to have to either merge to the emergency lane on the interstate or look for a potential pull off on secondary roads. When this happened with other vehicles following it puts you in fear of being struck from behind especially if you are unable to immediately get to the shoulder of the road or a safe pull off. The warning light has illuminated when this happens. Ford is able to look it up on the computer remotely and tell that there are issues with the shifting sequence. According to the local dealer this problem is only fixable by replacing the transmission. This problem seems to be a known problem to many others as well as the ford dealerships and in my opinion poses a huge safety concern for not only the driver and any passengers in the vehicle but also other nearby drivers. These problems occur with various speeds and driving conditions.
My truck has a 10 speed transmission and currently has 114,000 miles on the odometer. At about 90,000 miles It began shifting weird mainly into third gear just maybe a little slipping. That has drastically evolved to the engine racing between most shifts and causing hard jerking. At times it feels like it goes into neutral snd the engine revs, putting no power to the wheels. Most recently it has began to happen on the highway, even between seventh and 10th gear. It seems to lose forward momentum, but the income begins to race. This is becoming a major safety factor. At times, even making a turn the vehicle slows, but the engine speeds up, I went to my local Ford dealer. They said they’ve had no complaints of the 10 speed transmission on the Fords. I did some research and realize there are some recalls but not currently for my year.
Engine noise/rattling while decelerating, random rough idle that causes engine to almost stall out and die when taking off from a stop at intersections. No check engine lights.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that upon entering the vehicle and turning the steering wheel, the steering wheel was significantly loosened. Transmission shifting from 1st to 3rd gear. Vehicle slows down where I'm pushed forward then shifts to third with a banging sound where the vehicle jumps forward and I'm pushed back in the seat. Almost got into several accidents while I'm traffic. This started around 64.5k miles told dealer would have to leave vehicle. Problem went away but then it seemed that shifting to each gear I would be pushed forward and then pushed back as gear kicked in. Contacted dealer and was told I could not bring vehicle in because they had 6 vehicles in their garage with transmission issues and they have no parts for them. Dealer would call back on Monday or Tuesday following week. Never called me back so I called the end of that week on a Friday. Manager I was speaking to was out called following Monday went on on a Wednesday. The transmission issues had gotten worse, shifting up and down banging into gear. The dealer updated codes to see if that would correct problem. Resolution is that transmission is no good I was given 3 options. Need to buy a new transmission with install rounded up costs ,10k. Option 2 would have the ford tech team disassemble the transmission to find the problem which will cost more than 10k. Last option is trade it in for a new vehicle. Today my wrench came on due to transmission code error. I feel that not only is this a safety issue it's a consumer issue as well. How does a customer deal with a truck where a transmission that is no good and is being told that by the
I came off of an exit ramp, when I hit the gas, the truck went to neutral and motor reved up. I pulled off to the side of the road for a few seconds and the truck went back into gear. The truck also has a hard time going into 10th gear. It has reved up and a wrench has popped up in my dash.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the vehicle was making an abnormal rattling sound on cold starts. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the cam phasers had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The mechanic related the failure to Customer Satisfaction Number: 21N03. An unknown dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case opened. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
The vehicle has had transmission issues from the first day. It never had second gear. The engines revs up to 6k rpm then hard shifts. And the truck lunges forward. The shifting then got so drastically bad all of a sudden at 100 k miles. The truck had zero gears and would not shift. I had to let the truck run for 30 minutes for it to shift at all. I would be driving and the truck rev up to 5/6 k rpms them lunge forward for many gears. This would happen whilst on the highway. It was super dangerous at all times, but especially pulling onto highways or crossing intersections. Now that I read about the class action law suits I realize this problem has been present the entire time and Ford knew about it. And now two payments away from being done with my $32k investment, I have to figure out a way to purchase a new truck!?
I’ve had issues with my transmission since I purchased the vehicle new. Most of the time it just downshifts from like 4/5th gear to 1st/2nd gear and slams the truck. Very horrible shifting. I’ve also had it before though that I’m going through an intersection and the truck can’t find the gear and I have no acceleration for a few seconds. Luckily I haven’t gotten hit before. I brought it into the dealer and they reprogrammed the computer and said to try that. It seamed better for about a week and then was horrible again. The dealer did notice the jerky shifting. I’ve also had continued issues with the radio screen not working.
When I bought the vehicle in 2019 the backup camera stayed on as I was driving down the road. I had to have the computer reset twice. While stopped at a light i had my foot on the break and the vehicle rolled forward and didn't stop me from rear ending the person in front of me at the light. The warning beeped but it didn't brake. Recently I was driving on the highways and my navigation showed that I was driving in a totally different place. Now I had my battery replaced because the auto start and stop wasn't working. When stopping at a red light the vehicle wouldn't start without me putting it in park and restarting it. I have to turn off my auto start stop feature because I'm afraid my vehicle won't start on its own.
Truck will stall and error will pop on screen stating “Auto StartStop Shift to P, then restart engine”. It does this when at a stop or slowing down to come to a stop or turning causing a huge saftey issue.

While driving down a busy road my wrench light appeared on my dash and made a dinging noise. As soon as I saw/heard that I could hear a faint ticking noise. Soon after, my engine quit running and I was stalled out in the middle of a lane on a busy road. I was unable to start my vehicle after that. My engine had seized. There was no prior check engine lights or anything. I had only owned the truck 1 year and 4 months and had put 13,000 miles on it. Always kept good maintenance and there was no prior indications that there was something major wrong

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
