Driving and the transmission coolant lines all rusted & broke. As a result, coolant fluid will leak completely therefore potential damage to other components. This was an issue with some older model Ford F150 too. Worse part is that 2 of the needed parts are on backorder with no expected dates for availability.

On several occasions the truck engine started to sound noisy, metal clicking when running. l checked the oil and found it was down several quarts of oil. This has happened several times despite my checking. No leak. Usually down one quart but sometimes down 5 or 6 quarts. The engine doesn't start sometimes and has no power on other times. I brought it to a Ford dealer and told him that it was burning a lot of oil and he changed oil and filter, he replaced the air filter and spark plugs and checked the top of cylinders, he did an "induction service" and said to have it done again in 1,000 miles. Total cost $1,265.50. He also mentioned (not on the bill) that I may need a new engine. No sign of leaking and it looses oil faster than I can check.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, the engine made a rattling sound. The check engine warning light was later illuminated. The vehicle was taken to AutoZone, where DTC Code: P0369 (Camshaft Position Sensor “B” Circuit Intermittent Bank 1) was retrieved. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the cam phaser needed to be replaced for the second time. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the cam phaser had previously been replaced in 2021 under warranty; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 132,000.
Rear window shattering when remote started and auto rear defogger auto engaged 1-22-24
The 4WD system tries to engage on its own only in cold weather for the first 1/2 to 1 mile of driving. Somehow the vacuum isn’t holding.
Lights independently flicker on and off continuously until the battery is completely drained and died. No capability to stop this from occurring.
10 speed transmission started hesitating to shift and/or shifting erratically. This created a situation where there was a lack of power when attempting to accelerate. The vehicle felt as though it went briefly into neutral while trying to find the right gear. When the transmission engaged, it did so with a jerking action which caused the passenger(s) to be thrown back into seat. This condition first presented in 2020 at which time the transmission was “reprogrammed “. It recently happened again, was “reprogrammed”, but showed trouble codes which could not be reset. Dealer recommended a new transmission or a vehicle replacement. Currently waiting to see if Ford has any further assistance to offer.
Windshield Wipers stopped working
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that during the initial start of the vehicle, there was a rattling noise coming from the engine compartment of the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle had been taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the timing belt had malfunctioned and needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 76,000.
On January 16, 2024 We had been driving in 4 wheel drive. When we arrived home put the truck in 2 wheel drive, then in park, set the emergency brake and got out. We went in the house. A minute or two later the alarm on the truck started up. When I opened the door the truck was rolling down the driveway into the street. On January 17, 2024 We again had been driving in 4 wheel drive. Arrived home put it back in 2 wheel drive, put it in park, set the emergency brake and got out. My husband sat in the driver's side while I got my twin granddaughters out of the passenger side because the driver's side rear door doesn't work properly in icy weather. As I as unbuckling my granddaughter's seat the truck began rolling down the driveway. I had to run away from the truck. I ended up hitting ice, falling on my back and hitting my head hard. Later in the day we took it out and tried it again and had the same results. Even with the truck in park and the emergency brake engaged the truck rolled down a slight incline.
When the temp outside is below freezing the driver-side door will not latch shut and the doors will not lock.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that upon entering the vehicle, the contact became aware that the driver's and passenger's doors had failed to latch securely. The door ajar warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the door check arm attachment point. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 42,000. The VIN was unavailable.
Passenger door actuator would not reingange the door after opening. Temperature was around 15 Farenheit for awhile. Door opened with some effort, but would not latch back. If vehicle was in motion door would need to be held to prevent opening. The vehicle could be locked for the door to stay in place, but it would not sit flush with the body of the vehicle.
Tailgate actuator sometimes does not open completely. Pressin the button engages the operation, I can hear it trying to unlatch, but the tailgate does not completely release. If the tailgate is not in use for awhile, opens as intended for few times.
Doors keep freezing and they won't stay shut when you drive if it gets below 25 degrees
Vehicle has 10 speed transmission with shifting problems. Erratic shifting (1st to 10th), shifts in between to neutral with very high rpms. Clunking in between shifts. Dangerous to drive as it shifts to neutral while driving. Dash warning lights appear and several codes regarding transmission failure noted. At ford dealer now. They are recommending replacement. This appears to be a common problem with ford 10 speed transmission
The Transmission in my 2018 F150 has failed. I recently returned from deployment and begin to start driving my truck again from being in storage with minimal driving done to it while I was away to find out that the transmission had begin to slip gears, loose power, make sudden stalls while driving and shift erratically while traveling. While commuting to work pulling out from a dead stop the vehicle has stalled a number of times living me in the cross of oncoming traffic of speeds of 50+ MPH. The truck is currently in the shop and Ford diagnosed it as a bad transmission that needs to be replace. There were no warning lights until the transmission failed completely.
Transmission causing harsh shifts, random shifting and complete failure in the middle of the road. It is available for inspection at any given time. These transmission issues have left me stranded at red lights, in the middle of intersections, and on interstate highways and have become a major safety hazard for myself and those around me on the road. Two men from Bob Ruth Ford in Dillsburg, PA diagnosed that there was an error code for a bad solenoid. Another local independent garage mechanic said that likely meant I need a new valve body. The only warnings I’ve gotten until recent when failure occurs was a “see manual” notification on occasion. Twice within the last week I’ve also received a check engine light immediately after failure. This vehicle only has 61,000 miles on it.
Leaking antifreeze from t clamp with quick connects
This is the 6th winter I have had my truck. Every winter, the door locks freeze to the point the doors won't close. I have called ford, they have replaced the door locks. The problem still persists. I went to warm them up with a torch today to get them working again. I left and once again the door flew open under braking. I have called ford on this, they need to fix it before something really bad happens. This has happened at least once every winter. I am afraid to drive the thing when it freezes for fear of the doors flying open. the only warning lamp happens once the door is open. It won't go into gear. That's great and all but it doesn't let me know when the door may be compromised due to freezing. The dealer and ford have both confirmed this a known problem. I believe there was even a recall. They replaced all my door locks. The problem still persists. I believe this is a huge safety risk. Alls it take is for one person not wearing their seatbelt to make a right hand turn. If the door swings open, they very well could fall out and possibly get run over and even worse send a 5,000 pound unmanned vehicle into who knows what.
Engine makes awful rattling and consumption of oil is ridiculous even after I had them supposedly fix problem which was change the dipstick and reprogram the PCM I believe that's it and now the rear end is being changed for the 2nd time in a year. All the oil is still being consumed somewhere no leaks and my engine shakes and bogs and makes noises like driving a standard. Transmission is lacking on shifting and hard shifting for sure. It needs to be on a recall to fix transmission and engine issues. I barely got 87k and I got it at 56k and I have had all this crap. Done with it.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving approximately 70 MPH and merging onto the highway, the accelerator pedal was depressed, and the vehicle hesitated and then surged forward. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent at first but had become a recurring failure. The contact stated that the vehicle was idling roughly while stopped at a traffic light and almost stalled. The contact stated that during a stop at an intersection, the vehicle stalled in the middle of the intersection. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle was shifting hard from third gear to fourth gear. Additionally, while shifting gears the vehicle was shaking abnormally. The contact researched online and related the failures to Customer Satisfaction Programs: 21B10 Control Module Reprogram for Cam Phaser Rattle (Engine) and Customer Satisfaction Program 21N03 Cam Phaser Replacement (Engine). The failure mileage was approximately 97,000.
Transmission. It slips and jumps gears, lags, doesn't engage from a stop for a few seconds, downshifts itself while driving down the highway, at parking lot speeds the engine will rev up and lurch forward. It has been inspected by a local dealership and confirmed that there is an internal problem and recommended new transmission for $7500. They have been in contact with Ford Co, as have I, making a formal complaint which Ford is not owning the problem completely. The truck has 53,000 miles on it with perfect maintenance records. Safety issue is that the truck downshifts at highway speed. Rev's and jumps in parking lots which could cause an accident or worse...strike a pedestrian. The truck lags from a stop which could be dangerous when pulling into traffic. This is a documented issue with Ford vehicles, mostly in the 3.5 eco-boost 10 speed trucks but I believe in possibly some of their others. From day 1 of ownership I noticed something odd which I made it known to the dealership when it went in for service on several occasions. The dealer could never duplicate the issue. In November 2023 the issue got very bad with all that was mentioned in the opening sentence. The dealership had confirmed that there are issues with this truck/transmission and they have a service bulletin on the issues. There are multiple Ford forums online with people who all have the same issue with this truck/transmission. There haven't been any warning lamps to indicate but as mentioned this has been a
1) My 2017/2018 Ford F-150 has had numerous mechanical issues since I purchased it in May of 2018. The issues were initially repaired by the "dealer" as it was under either factory or extended warranty. The most note worthy issues, which is the purpose of my correspondence as it potentially could lead to a vehicle fire, is the leakage of oil from the oil pan (second time being repaired) and the driver's side valve cover (first time). The issues are reportedly caused, says Ford, due to faulty material used in the gasket of the oil pan and poor material used in the manufacturing of the valve cover (leading to cracking and subsequent oil leakage). These issues, if not repaired at great cost, can result in a vehicle fire. 2) No fire has been experienced nor has the vehicle been examined by an independent mechanic. 3) The only warning I had of a mechanical problem with the engine, again, was oil droplets on my driveway. There was no indication of the faulty driver's side engine valve cover until the Ford mechanic brought it to my attention just this week. It is unknown how long the valve cover has been leaky oil on the top of the engine. 4) My vehicle is currently at the Ford dealership as the necessary repairs at great expense are being conducted.

I own a 2018 ford f150 vin# [XXX] with 44000 miles the vehicle have a problem with the 10 speed transmission it has a hard upshift from 4th to 5th gear. And sometimes when it downshifts. I took it to the local ford dealer and was told to repair it they needed to do a complete overhaul. As I said before the vehicle only have 44000 miles on it I don't think the transmission should need a overhaul at such a low mileage. Can you help me with what I should do. Frozen door latches. When its cold and you open the door, then close the door it does not latch.
Auto start stop button is clearly malfunctioning. Battery is good, alternator good. Even if I hold in the button to keep it shut off, my truck with just shut off in the middle of driving and tell me to place in park and restart. Dangerous and after research i’m only 1 out of thousands with same issue
The truck currently has 75xxx miles on it. I've had it in at the dealership before for transmission issues. The repairs/fix they did lasted for a while before the same problems came back. It started as rough shifting/jerking. Recently the truck will, when accelerating, jump out of gear completely while indicating on the dash that it is in gear, and the engine will rev up on its own (up to 3500 rpm) for several seconds before violently jerking into gear. I worry that the engine may try to rev up while actually in gear and cause rapid acceleration and possibly an accident if it's unable to be stopped in time.

Transmission, on 5 year F150 truck slips, and sometimes wont go in revers, huge safety issue. This issue almost caused an accident a few time in one week. We took truck to dealership. They did concur it is not drivable IF NOT FIXED This is a huge safety issue for all 2018 f150 trucks. we never received any recall info on truck if there were any. imagine a vehicle you cant go in reverse , or transmission stops as you pull into an intersection. luckily for us our family was not involved in an accident. a 5 year old vehicle's transmission should not fail on any manufacture.. According to several 2018 f150 owners this is an issue. someone will die in a accident if this is not addressed.

While idling at a stop light I could smell an oil burning smell. I continued to monitor the smell the rest of the day and determined an excessive amount of oil dripping from the bottom of the vehicle and also excessive oil puddling near the driver side valve cover in the engine compartment. The amount of oil in the engine compartment is enough to warrant a fire hazard. Diagnosis is a cracked valve cover. No engine warning lights appeared, however excessive oil consumption and a possible fire hazard remains. Vehicle is scheduled for service, however it will takes a few weeks to get a service appointment and parts in stock....
Vehicle transmission is shifting hard and often time slipping. Causing us to lose power until it finally gets into gear. It's nearly caused us accidents due to the sudden loss of power. It is available for inspection. We live in an area with high traffic tourist volume and has caused us multiple near accidents. It has been checked by a mechanic. The code thrown every time was P0732. The code was thrown the first time it did it 2 weeks ago.
There was a recall on Ford F150 cam phasers years 2017-2020, but my VIN was not included. Our cam phaser has gone bad. It rattles and shakes. Please include our VIN in the recall so our engine doesn’t go out.

The transmission on my 2018 ford 150 is slipping and shifting so rough that i am somewhat afraid to drive it in traffic . this is the third time its in the shop for the same problem.. Sometimes it shifts so hard the transmission makes a clunking sound and jerks our necks. Ford seems unable to fix the problem. There were never any warning alerts of a malfunction but the problem is so bad now that i dont want to drive it. It has been doing this for about three years now.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
