I brought my truck in for routine maintenance oil change & tire rotation and was notified by the dealership that the right rear axle bolt was broken off and that the axle needed to be replaced and that it wasn’t safe to drive it until it was replaced well here’s my problem I didn’t know it was broken or unsafe to drive and had I not brought it in for the oil change early I would still be driving it like that this is a serious problem which could result in a loss of control and accident I’m not the only one that has had this happen I’ve researched it a little and found multiple people on an F150 forum that have had the same experience

Audio system malfunction that resulted in deafening random electronic noise levels that would not stop until the battery was disconnected for a long period of time. I started a thread online (link below) and there are numerous others with the issue. There are multiple videos showing the issue. Some have reported a burning smell so there could be a fire risk as well. (https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/threads/dangerous-b-o-sound-system-issue.9254/) It really is loud enough to cause a crash and I believe it's just a matter of time if it hasn't already happened. My ears were ringing for several hours. To date Ford hasn't provided any resolution beyond just extending my factory warranty. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for a full week with no resolution - again, same as several others.

Passenger rear axle bolt broken. This seems to be happening only on Max tow equipped vehicles, LOTS of them.

When in regular use of this hybrid Powerboost F150, the truck lurches forward on electric motor power as if you just got rear-ended. This happens every single time you have to come to a stop for more than 5 seconds. The only way to avoid this issue is to drive in"tow/haul" mode which keeps the truck's engine running. This defeats the purpose of a hybrid truck, and you have to remember to switch the running mode from normal to the haul/tow mode. This lurching had to be causing extra wear and tear on the drive train parts. Apparently the problem is a faulty "Transmission Fluid Auxiliary Pump". Many of us on the Ford F150 forums are waiting on our dealers for this back ordered pump. Apparently Ford continues to build vehicles while falling to provide a replacement pump? I am concerned as to the design of this pump as well. My"new" truck only has 7800 miles on it, a little over one year old, and the pump is defective. Is this going to be a reocurring problem? This is a safety issue and should be addressed ASAP. Thank you for your attention to this matter..

Rear differential, passenger side axle bolt broke off. I removed the right rear wheel after hearing a metallic noise while braking to inspect, as soon as I removed the wheel a broken head bolt and washer fell out and you can clearly see the other piece of the bolt is still in the axle shaft. I am not sure if this bolt breaking off could cause loss of wheel or axle. But now my brakes are making noise, I believe as a symptom directly related to this issue. I looked up 2021+ F150 forums and customers with this max trailer tow axles are experiencing the same thing. I took the vehicle to the dealer today to get this inspected and am awaiting an update. The only indicators of a problem was loud metallic noise while braking, and a slight ringing sound while driving without braking. It was all sounding in the rear of the vehicle.

How can Ford still produce new trucks if parts are not available to fix existing trucks on the road as it is a safety concern? Complaint 2: Error code P2C44 - requires replacement of Auxiliary Battery Insulator from Ford's internal doc SSM 50976. Was told part is also backed ordered for 45 days. 13800 miles, broken axle/wheel bearing retaining bolt. Screeching noise. Bad wheel bearing. Dealer will not replace wheel bearing because they do not correlate the broken bolt to a bad wheel bearing. Leaving me with a bad wheel bearing that I consider prematurely worn out and is making a clicking sound. Dealer says they cannot replicate the noise so will not investigate further

In May 2022, the passenger side right rear axle bolt sheared off creating a squealing/grinding noise from that wheel. The only thing holding the wheel onto the axle were the brake caliper bolts. The repair involved a new axle. In early Sept 2022, the driver side rear axle bolt sheared off with the same results. The vehicle is now in the shop waiting for the parts to arrive. Dealer advised that this is a serious safety issue and requested that the vehicle be towed to the service center.

The rear right axle bolt sheared off at 12.5k miles. if you google "rear right axle bolt 2021/2022 f150" there are THOUSANDS of people with the same issue. Thank god I heard the sound as it rattled around. I can't imagine the danger of driving down the highway at speed with my children in the back and the tire ends up sliding off. Ford is pretending this does not require a recall, yet tens of thousands of people on the forums have the same issue

The driver side rear axle retaining bolt sheared off rendering the truck not drivable. The truck is at the Ford dealership I purchased it from waiting for a replacement part. This is such a common problem that the axle shaft is on back order, so I am without my truck until the parts are available. Upon researching online I have found this to be a common problem that Ford is very much aware of but have not taken action to correct.

Broken retaining bolt holding the wheel on the right rear axle. Dealer said too dangerous to drive so they replaced axle. Dealer has old axle and broken bolt. This problem exists in the 2021 F150 Powerboost truck with 9.75 in 3/4 floating axle. Several postings on F150 forum of this happening to others with same truck. Nothing holding rear wheel on except brake caliper if bolt brakes and wheel wobbles loose. When service tech takes wheel off to rotate tires the broken bolt falls on the floor.

When drive train goes into electric drive mode, the vehicle will jump/lurch/bang after stopping like I was hit by another car pretty hard. This will only happen when the engine either goes into hybrid electric mode or engine turns off after a stop in sport and other modes. It will not happen in tow mode where the engine stays on. The issue is the aux pump on the transmission going bad, this was found by dealer and part is on national backorder. Truck can jump a foot forward at red light if foot is not smashing the brake pedal down - seems to be an issue popping up daily on forums from others having issues.

The wheel hub axle bolt sheared off under normal conditions-dealer was unaware this was even an issue and told me the bolt they found within my wheel assembly and its attached washer was picked up off of the road (road debris) that they removed it and it would not grind anymore. I did basic research as an uninformed consumer and within seconds learned this is an issue on hundreds of other power boost pickup trucks. There is extensive documentation online regarding this issue. I called my dealer who has yet to respond to me. This is a major safety issue-the only thing holding the wheel on is the brake caliper. With as many documented cases as I can easily see online-the fact that my dealer is not aware of this indicates Ford has done nothing about it. This should be a recall. Please advise.

Left rear axle bolt sheared off into the wheel spontaneously. It is available for inspection. . Currently at dealer right now for repair. Dealer indicates vehicle not safe to drive due to potential for loss of wheel, brake components and wheel hub/axle during travel. I have not experienced loss of a wheel while driving luckily. There were no warning lamps/messages etc. No symptoms of the problem prior to failure were noted. The only sign of an issue was loud squealing from the left rear wheel when brakes were applied or when turning the steering wheel slightly either right or left. When Blue Cruise is activated and the vehicle takes a semi sharp turn it does not straighten back out and attempts to continue into oncoming traffic. Does not seem to happen on the interstate, I believe its because the curves are not as sharp. This is a frequent issue that happens continuously. Brought it to the attention of the dealer when I had the recall performed. They recommended a tech ride with me to reproduce it, but it was not offered at time of pickup. You can completely take over steering, but there is resistance. I just want this to be reported and hopefully a resolution comes up at some point.

The Check Engine Light illuminated and brought to Ford dealer. Was advised it has code P237C which is a failed Exhaust Heat Exchanger, dealer ordered part # ML3Z5A212W. There is no coolant leak visible from the failed part. But driving down the highway around 70mph, the vehicle suddenly decelerates and goes into Reduced Power Mode, throttling back the engine. The reduced power mode is displayed on the instrument cluster, but it is still startling to have the vehicle decelerate, especially at highway speeds in traffic. And would be more problematic with a trailer in tow. My Ford dealer has the part on order but Ford states it is on back order with no expected delivery date. Very disappointing from a quality stand point, but a concern as well from a safety perspective. I know others have had a similar issue which is also accompanied by a coolant leak, which I do not have on my vehicle but I am concerned and continue to monitor for leaks and watch the fluid level. I do not have any photos of the valve. Unexpected reduction of engine power in my opinion is a safety issue, especially at highway speeds or when towing. Thank you for your review of this issue.

UNKNOWN Our F-150 was hit by a driver from a side street. The whole passenger side was damaged, front fender replaced, front door replace, post repaired, back door replaced, back panel of truck replaced, and back wheel. The long step was pushed up and under vehicle. It was replaced as well. The side airbag did not engage. I was thrown around in the passenger seat. I experienced a contusion on my right knee and three days later diagnosed with side impact whiplash. The truck was declared not safe to drive while we were trying to get estimates for repairs. They were concerned that the airbag didn’t go off and the door was not closing correctly even after they tried to tweak it. Our truck was towed off by the insurance company to a secured site until we could get it towed for repairs. We were never told why the airbag didn’t go off.

My trucks integrated brake controller will not consistently control the electric trailer brakes. I plug in the trailer and get confirmation that it is controlling the brakes by manually testing them while rolling and at some point during the trip it stops controlling them without warning. I have tried all methods to be sure the 7 pin connection is seated properly and I am sure it is. I have a 7 pin tester and when I check the electric output at the plug it lights up the circuit (BK) for the brakes. When traveling and I realize I no longer can control the trailer brakes, I pull over and unplug the trailer, plug in the tester and when squeezing the brake controller it will not light up the circuit marked (BK). If I leave it disconnected and shutoff the truck for 15+ minutes and reconnect, it works again only to stop again at some unknown point. There is obviously a seriously dangerous issue here. I have taken it to the Ford dealer and they can't find anything wrong. When it resets you can't duplicate it until you tow for an undermined distance for it to fail again. I have searched the internet and found many people with the same issue and no one has been able to get it solved by all manner of efforts including many efforts at Ford dealers and electrical shops. This form asks for the date it occurred. It started as soon as I took delivery with 5 miles and is ongoing.

Occasionally, the message "inoperable" was displayed. Also, the forward-collision warning system would not activate when driving too close to a nearby vehicle or object. In addition, while driving, the adaptive cruise control was activated and the vehicle ahead reduced speed however, the adaptive cruise control deactivated instead of reducing speed causing the driver to press the brake pedal to avoid a collision. The trailer brake on my truck is not working consistently. When coming down a snowy mountain pass two days ago, the bake controller disconnected (after working for about 5 hours). This is incredibly dangerous and due to the fact that I am on a cross country road trip and all dealers are booked months in advance I have not been able to get any information from Ford. I am going to post links to other people having this same problem. This has happened since the truck was purchased. This is an incredibly dangerous situation and I would have expected more from a Ford Truck. I believe based on these other peoples experiences that the issue is with the Powerboost Hybrid specifically. Motor Trend even noticed this in their review: Software Struggles We also intended to evaluate how much the electric motor's torque helps with towing, only to be thwarted by another bug, this one in the trailer brake controller. No matter what we did, the integrated trailer brake controller would not activate the trailer brakes—even with the gain all the way up. We verified the issue was with this F-150 by hitching the trailer to another truck, where the trailer brake controller and trailer brakes worked fine.
