Many times I have experienced a delay in acceleration or where it fails to accelerate relative to the pedal position and will then suddenly aggressively accelerate. This has resulted in me almost being hit in traffic due to the lack of power output leaving me panicked as vehicles barrel down on me while I’m stuck waiting for the truck to get the signal to accelerate. The issue has begun to occur more often but is spontaneous when it occurs leaving me with huge trust issues with the vehicle not knowing when it will decide if it wants to output power or not. It occurs most often after the vehicle has been sitting unused, like first thing in the morning or after work when it has been sitting for hours, and most often when executing a turn from either a slow roll or a stop. Meaning if I’m on a side street and wish to pull out into traffic, it will just decide not to accelerate and leave me sitting in the road as vehicles approach scaring me into pumping the throttle or attempting to push it to the floor in the hopes it gets the signal and will accelerate to get me out of harms way. It’s a huge issue and I’m worried it will result in an accident. I’ve also seen many other are experiencing the problem. I have an appointment with my local ford dealership to have it looked at but I’m worried they won’t be able to replicate the issue and will leave me with no answers or help.

Vehicle suddenly overheated affecting ability to drive in traffic. Discovered coolant leak. The very issue determined by the dealership is the exact issue of a current recall. They say it’s not associated with my vin despite being the exact issue for the exact make and model. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
My cluster gauge is turning off while I’m driving and turning on after by itself. It happened too many times maybe 20 times in last 2 months. When this happens I’m loosing all my settings I have done before. While it’s off I can’t see any information including my speed and distracting me. I share this issue on platforms and too many people having same issue. I found too many video on YouTube about exact same problem. It happens on the f150 trucks with digital cluster gauge produced after 2020 and even brand new ones having same issue still problem is ongoing. Ford and ford dealerships aware of the problem but they aren’t doing anything about this and they say it’s well known issue.

10 speed transmission has started shifting hard at times and is random when it occurs. At times the hard shift comes with some stuttering under normal acceleration.
The contact owns a 2021 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the transmission independently shifted to neutral, and the vehicle decelerated. In addition, the power train failure warning light illuminated. The contact stated that within several seconds, the vehicle returned to normal speed, and the power train failure warning light was no longer illuminated. The contact stated that the failure occurred while driving on a major highway. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with an external transmission failure. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced, and the software needed an update. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was informed of an unknown recall however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 79,000.
Multitude of transmission problems, Have smelt clutches in the transmission burning very strongly twice now. Hard shifting up shifting and downshifting. Slamming into gear almost locking up the back wheels. Has failed to move with transmission binding up putting it in reverse. Multiple slippages and different gears. After the truck is stopped at a light for 10 to 30 seconds there will be a hard clacking sound and the transmission that can be felt in the floor. Extreme hesitation almost causing an accident pulling out into traffic. Check engine light one time for faulty Park solenoid and the vehicle would not come out of park. Disconnected and reconnected the batteries. Cleared the code and finally got it to come out of park. The code cleared after 3 days. Was working with the dealership over the phone remotely at the time with it. They said it disappeared and they didn't know why. Transmission has been flushed at 50,000 miles by ford dealership. Ford dealership has done a reprogramming on it so far. Transmission still had problems had a Ford take a ride with me. He stated that it need to be rebuilt or replaced. Ford dealer is dragging their feet to do anything. I have many text messages into the service writer updating him of new problems and current problems as they occur. They are fully well aware of the issues. I drive a lot like 6,000 miles a month and I think they just don't want me put miles on their loaner vehicles for their faulty transmission problems. The contact owns a 2021 Ford F-150. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V896000 (POWER TRAIN); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
When turning right there was a complete loss of power with no response from the throttle it was just stuck coasting at 20klm hr. For 20 seconds or so then throttle kicked in and normal operation again. This has happened twice now in the past week. Very dangerous especially when turning into traffic.
Passenger side DRL assembly on headlight has failed. Dealer says the DRL is not repairable and the headlight assembly requires replacement. The safety of myself and others was put at risk by the absence of 50% of my vehicles DRL system, which diminished my visibility on the roadway. There were no indications of failure until it occured.
Despite having been told my truck was fixed at a dealer shop, my truck still displays an absence of forward propulsion when applying the gas pedal and trying to accelerate from slower speeds. This has happened when trying to make a left or right turn when there is oncoming traffic. Sometimes this happens while trying to accelerate on the on-ramp of a highway to get up to normal piste speed limits with traffic very fast behind me. The dealer I took it to said they fixed the issues. Luckily I can apply the Manual mode with a button, but this is distracting when trying to look for the button, and the issue comes back in Automatic mode.
The contact owns a 2021 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact that the engine coolant over temperature warning light illuminated. The vehicle was able to restart however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the engine coolant system failed and needed to be repaired, The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and referred the contact to the NHSTA Hotline for assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000.
I purchased a 2021 Ford F-150 Powerboost Lariat in November 2022. It was advertised as a Gold Certified Used vehicle. In October I stopped and put the truck in park, and when I got back in the truck it wouldn’t shift out of Park. The Message in the instrument panel said to shift into Park to start. However, the shift lever was stuck in Park with the yellow light flashing next to P. I had to spend $100 to have my truck towed to Young Ford in Ogden, Utah which is the closest dealership to my home. They had my truck there for two days and then called me and let me know my truck was ready to be picked up. They told me the problem was a software update and once they had completed the update, everything was working fine. They then charged me approximately $360 for the update. So essentially, I just spent $460 for a software update on my truck that is set to automatically download and install updates several times each week. The technician at the dealership checked my vehicle history and verified that I was up to date with all available updates. In just under two years of ownership, I have now had to take it to the dealership twice for software updates, and even more times for multiple recalls. This latest issue is infuriating because a simple software upgrade cost me two days of use, towing charges, and $360 to diagnose and download the update. Why does a software update completely disable a vehicle, and why is it not Ford’s responsibility? What if this happened during driving on t
The vehicle fails to acclerate. When pulling out into a street the vehicles accelerator became completely unresponsive. The vehicle was stuck in 2nd gear going about 8mph and the vehicle would not accelerate, I even push the pedal all the way to the floor for several seconds with no response. I had to come to a complete stop in the middle of the street for the truck become responsive to my inputs. I was nearly rear-ended due to this issue.
Very frequent error message and bell/chime saying pedestrian warning alert system failure. It is at the dealer now for service and they are claiming that this safety device isn't covered by warranty. This happens at low speeds, doesn't happen on the highway. It is very frequent, multiple times per minute at times.
Vehicle regularly loses all throttle response for 5-10 seconds, usually around corners at low speed, but sometimes while driving straight. This lack of response is alarming when pulling into traffic. There is no light on the dash indicating traction control is activated.
Wipers failed during rain storm. Wipers initially started to operate sporadically and then stopped. Later they worked fine. Wipers then started to fail to operate every morning but if switch left on would randomly start working. Vehicle was taken in for service Vice but was told the issue could not be duplicated. As weather reached freezing temperatures wipers quit working completely. Replaced wiper motor myself and issue was fixed. Found out after replacing the motor had been previously replaced as part of a safety recall in April 2023.
The contact owns a 2021 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, there was a message on the infotainment screen that the "The Pro Power Onboard Has Detected a Fault" was displayed. The contact stated that the charging outlet in the vehicle became inoperable. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it diagnosed and determined that a software update was needed. The outlet module was replaced, and the software was updated but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact NHTSA hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 46,000.
Leaving a parking lot and after turning right, the truck failed to accelerate for over 800 feet. Over this distance, the accelerator was pressed all the way to the floor and the truck stayed stuck in 2nd gear, slowly increasing from 2,000 rpm to 2,500 rpm, and from 17mph to 21mph. After this time, the accelerator pedal was pumped, and the truck responded with normal acceleration. This is not the first time this truck has had the issue, but it is sporadic, and almost always when turning right from a rolling stop. This has a high potential of causing accidents when trying to turn on to a road with higher speed traffic and unable to accelerate as expected. There were no warning lamps or messages indicating an issue with the vehicle. The issue is not consistently reproducible for Ford to inspect it, but it does happen a few times a month.
I just want to provide support for others that have this safety issue, as my 2021 F150 Powerboost also has this issue. When making a turn, usually a righthand turn, onto a busy road, the vehicle will fail to accelerate. The delay is not turbo lag, but more so a dead space or lag of any response from the power train. I have found that if I disable the advance trac and traction control, the issue is no longer present. Just wanted to reinforce the confidence at the start and how dangerous it is. You get this false sense of security that the truck is going to accelerate a certain way, then falls flat at a very risky time. FYI, I am running the latest PCM code and modules updates available from Ford, via FDRS. Here are other examples if it helps: [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
When accelerating from a low speed, accelerator does not respond.
After a few hours of parking in a lot, or overnight from my garage I lose accelerator response when trying to accelerate. I will lightly use the throttle to pull out of a stop, turning right, and the truck will not accelerate for up to 12 seconds even with steady throttle input or pumping the throttle. If I press the accelerator to the floor it will shorten the delay time, but will surge at full throttle. Twice I have pulled into traffic, but truck will not accelerate and I am almost rear ended or cannot cross an intersection with traffic come at me. This is a serious safety issue. Dealer has not been able to replicate or repair. This has been happening for 6+ months.
Daytime running lights have partially gone out. I am concerned that others may not see me as well without these lights. If the manufacturer felt they were important enough to put on the truck, then I feel it's important to for them to keep working. This happened without warning and seems to be an issue with a lot of these trucks. So many failures indicates a manufacturing issue which has now put lives in jeopardy.
After a right turn in a residential street, I pressed the accelerator to progress on the roadway. The truck did not accelerate, so I looked at the tachometer and observed it above 0 and below 1,000 rpm. The engine was running, but unresponsive despite pumping the accelerator. While rolling at 5 mph I shifted the transmission to neutral and continued pumping the accelerator. There was no response for the next 200'. Finally, the engine became responsive and ran normally. It runs normally now. I cannot reproduce this issue. I called the Ford dealer service on 8 November 24 at Noon and they said "watch for the issue". I expressed that in traffic, a suddenly undependable engine is a serious concern. The accelerator/engine was unresponsive for a continued period of time. The gas engine was in control. There was no check light/warning light. The Ford dealer inspected the telemetry of the vehicle remotely and no anamolies were observed. The dealer declined to inspect the vehicle since the issue is not reproducible.
When gearshift lever is in "DRIVE," it would not shift into "REVERSE" or "PARK." There were no warning lights. Gearshift lever would always move from "PARK" to "DRIVE" or "PARK" to "REVERSE." I was in traffic, I was unable to move the gearshift from "DRIVE" to "REVERSE" when I needed to backup. The only way to get the gearshift lever to move was to TURN OFF the vehicle while it was in "DRIVE" and on a 2021 F150, the gearshift lever will automatically move into "PARK." Then I was able to restart the vehicle and move the gearshift lever into "REVERSE." From "REVERSE" the gearshift lever would move into the "DRIVE" position. This failure resulted in my inability to control my vehicle when required. The dealership replaced a GEAR SHIFT ASSEMBLY to resolve the problem.
Right turn from stop then try to cleated there is no response from the pedal Will lunge forward and engage throttle if I’m lucky
1) Vehicle acceleration delays. From a stopped vehicle condition transitioning onto highway roadway the vehicle failed to accelerate for several seconds. Again from stopped or low speed idling condition following a turn there occurs a 1 to 10 second failure to accelerate. 2) Failure to accelerate puts into question the safety of anyone in any vehicle within proximity to the malfunctioning vehicle. 3) Our personal vehicle problems has not been observed by any dealer, we have not presented it for diagnosis at this time. We are actively monitoring and posting to the [XXX] group about our experience. A ford dealership employee has an advanced Ford factory representative working on understanding the problem. Otherwise, it seems, no one currently understands the issue as yet. 4) Our personal vehicle has NOT been inspected by the Manufacturer, police, insurance reps or others at this point in time. 5) There has never been a warning lamp or message in regard to this acceleration failure. The failure is not predictable in nature. We have never experience such failure at highway traffic speeds. It most often presents when accelerating from an idle or low speed driving condition, often following a turn. Continues issues with the electrical and hybrid system. This is the second time of complete vehicle failure, although the power steering went out completely and the automatic parking brake briefly activated before the truck completely failed / quit running.
When attempting to accelerate the vehicle hesitates for several seconds as the automatic 10 speed transmission attempts to engage the proper gear. This is intermittent. It has happened numerous times and is particularly dangerous when attempting to merge onto a highway or turning in either direction at an intersection.
The truck is a 10-speed and the 10 gears are displayed on the dash. While driving down the road, the gears start to disappear. Once it gets to the gear you are in, it will force a hard downshift. It will continue to force a downshift into first gear and the truck stops with hard engine breaking. The first time (6/26/2024), I was almost rear ended. If you put the truck into neutral, all gears reappear and you can start to drive again without any indication of transmission issues until the gears start to disappear. Ford dealership has attempted to fix multiple times, but continues to happen. If not expecting, is very sudden and can cause rear-end collision or loss of control. I have a detailed record of the incidents (date, speed, mileage, etc.) as well as multiple videos demonstrating the issue. Not able to upload videos.
The contact owns a 2021 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the ABS, auto collision, and traction control warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel while depressing the brake pedal. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed with a defective electronic brake booster. The vehicle was repaired by the dealer. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V533000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) which the contact linked to the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in the recall. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 43,000.
Check engine light on . Ford says exhaust heat exchanger bypass valve. I see online multiple people are having the same issue . Seems to be a common issue with this vehicle . They are saying it’s not a part of the power train warranty although it’s attached to the power train . This is a safety issue. With the amount of posts about this issue I’m surprised it isn’t a recall already.
Unintended acceleration event. Initial condition: Cruise control off. Steering wheel turned 270 degrees ccw, turning left, at a complete stop, released brake, rolling forward at less than 5mph in a confined parking garage. Continuing to turn wheel to left, my right palm accidently engaged the cruise control button on the steering wheel. Cruise control automatically set to 15mph and began to accelerate. I was able to engage the brake again in enough time to deactivate cruise control. This is not the first such incident I've had where the cruise control is accidentally engaged and begins accelerating the vehicle to 15mph. Anecdotally, they have all occurred during left turns. Seeing how it engaged today, I can now understand why I couldn't figure out why it was happening previously. Due to accessibility issues, I typically turn with a single hand while allowing my other to remain capable of grabbing to maintain control. How easily my palm brushed the cruise control unintentionally was shocking.
The contact owns a 2021 Ford F-150. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V896000 (Power Train); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
The rear wheels are locking up at acceleration after stopping.
My truck is currently experiencing a Front Camera Fault that is resulting the pre-collision warning/assist, adaptive/normal cruise control, and lane keeping warning/assist from operating as designed. Upon dealer inspection on 7/11/24 it is noted that TSB 23-2146 was issued to correct the issue by replacing cables and ultimately the image control camera and module resulting in thousands of dollars in repair costs of a known issue by Ford.
While operating the vehicle, I shifted into park, using the console shifter. With no warning, the vehicle malfunctioned. The console shifter indicator light started blinking next to the "P" and it would not let me shift back into gear. I turned off the vehicle and tried to restart it in the hopes that it would clear the error. The vehicle engine would not start, and told me to shift the vehicle into park. I was unable to shift the gear into park or any gear. A tow truck driver came and we were able to force the vehicle into neutral for towing, but the vehicle's parking brake engaged and would not disengage. Every time we turned off the parking brake, it immediately turned itself back on. Thus, we could not push the vehicle into a better position for the tow truck to get the vehicle and the tow truck operator had to drag the vehicle with its back tires not turning. At the Ford dealership, a service employee inspected the vehicle and said there was no physical damage to any component and that some kind of electronics error had caused the fault. He said it was a known issue with F150 transmissions and that a Ford service bulletin indicated a 6-hour "module" reprogramming process was necessary to make the truck operable. He said that it could recur. I spoke to Ford customer service. A representative there confirmed that this is a known issue with F150 transmissions but that no recall had been made. She also stated that Ford did not know why it happens and that, even after being "
The contact owns a 2021 Ford F-150. The contact stated while his wife was driving at an undisclosed speed and while reversing, the contact stated that his wife heard an abnormal rubbing sound. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed with a fractured driveshaft. The vehicle remained at the dealer awaiting the repair. The contact related the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V986000 (Power Train, Structure) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 86,000.
OTA updated stuck unable to complete. Stuck update continued to drain battery below threshold to allow the update to complete. Systems started conserving power, shutting off infotainment system, fordpass app, gateway, passenger door entry, etc. Required call to Ford. Ford dictated to bring to dealership. Dealership corrected multiple module software updates, with cost for services. Vehicle under extended warranty. Root cause: faulty and incomplete Ford software update. Impact: vehicle, as sold and advertised, rendered inoperative due to poor workmanship by Ford OTA update process.
At a stop, in electric mode, truck will lunge forward as if you were rear ended. Most of the time, transmission failure will occur after some time due to this lunging forward, and it has happened to many truck owners. Electric auxiliary transmission pump tends to be the cause .
When you start the truck the radio rear view camera does not turn on you drive a mile or two and it will come on. This does not happen all the time it is intermittent
Exhaust Heat Exchanger failure with Powerboost engine at 55k miles. This seems to fail on nearly all Ford F-150 Hybrid Powerboost engines. Ford does NOT cover this repair under the Emissions, Hybrid, or Ford Extended Service plan. This is a known failure they are not covering and is documented in NHTSA SSM 52050.

There hasn't been an incident yet. But, I want a record of this somewhere. I'm assuming there may be an incident in the future; and, I'm concerned about that. Either an incident with my truck or an incident with the 100s of thousands of Ford and Lincoln vehicles from 2017-2023 that have this issue. The issue is Ford SSM 51939 - a whining noise coming from the bellhousing and the front of the transmission fluid pan. I have taken my truck to a dealership. I have called Ford about this. I have researched extensively online. I have called NHTSA. I have emailed the Office of Vehicle Safety Compliance. I am now filing this report online. The safety issue? For me, I'm now having to wear EARPLUGS when driving my vehicle. For others, they have been told to turn up the radio. I am now hearing the noise all the time -- believe it or not, even sometimes when I'm not even in my truck. Ford needs to address this. They send me to you. I don't have the 'option' of TRADING IN MY VEHICLE...others don't either. What am I to do? When something serious happens because people are remedying this themselves...it will be a very sad day. But, maybe only then will Ford do something. I don't know what else to do other than call Ford everyday, and email every agency that may be able to apply some pressure. Sadly, I have a full-time job...and this is really frustrating for me, in more ways that one. Hope you have a nice day! Factory Sprayed on bed liner is lifting. Under shield (factory skid place FXR package) constantly falling off.
There is a recall for my vehicle that I cannot get fixed unless I go 150+ miles away to get it serviced at another dealership. The dealership near me, which is where I purchased new from, says it needs to go to a dealership that has a body shop which theirs does not have. I don't think it should be on me to drive half the state to get remedied and why they can't use a local body shop to perform the repair. And they won't even give me the names of dealerships that I could use. Manufacturer Recall Number 21C06 NHTSA Recall Number 21V090
Driving in clear weather, open road, on I-95, no overpasses, smooth road, no road debris, no trucks anywhere in sight, no weird traffic conditions - front panel of my panoramic sunroof, which was closed at the time, just EXPLODED. It sounded like a shotgun went off above my head. Since the headliner was closed at the time, all the pieces were present when I got to a car-wash to vacuum up the glass. I only saw glass. No foreign objects, no rocks, no unknown pieces of the International Space Station - just glass.
Calendar years 2022, 2023, and 2024 have replicated this issue. Under high sun and warmth, the dash mounted daylight sensor causes the infotainment system to decrease brightness. This decrease in screen brightness persists even when in reverse, compromising safety systems. Dealership has been unable to replicate while in for other service on at least 3 separate occasions. This appears to be a summer / fair weather issue that cannot be diagnosed inside the workshop environment. Dealership able to replicate, in person, with technician, that the sensor was inverting the intended automatic adjustment action on a "stop by if you see this actively happening again" request in 2022. As unable to replicate condition in workshop, unable to diagnose and repair.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
