WHILE TURNING RIGHT / LEFT THE VEHICLE VIBRATES IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. DEALER SAYS IT'S NORMAL. ALSO, WHILE TEST DRIVING VEHICLE DEALER CLAIMED IT ACTED LIKE THE CLUTCHES IN THE POSITION UNIT WERE GRABBING. SO THEY ADDED A FRICTION MODIFIER TO REAR DIFFERENTIAL AND TRANSFER CASE. PROBLEM SOMEWHAT DIMINISHED, BUT NOT ENTIRELY SOLVED. *AK
2000 Ford Explorer complaints
Owner reports filed with NHTSA about this vehicle, newest first and reproduced as filed. They are unverified accounts: one proves nothing, and a pattern across many is the thing worth reading. Back to the full 2000 record →
ACCELERATOR PEDAL WOULD STICK WHEN APPLYING FUEL. THIS PROBLEM ONLY HAPPENS AFTER STOPPING FOR A STOP LIGHT OR STOP SIGN. WILL BE TAKING VEHICLE TO DEALER TO CHECK. *AK
Reading these
NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
