I am concerned about the shifting or transmission in my new 21 expedition. Purchased new less than a year ago, currently less than 20k miles but the vehicle shifts gears hard, sometimes it seems it wants to up shift while in park or braking. The shift is shaky at times and I now put in park when stopped at a drive through because the last time I went to the bank while waiting with brake applied the car felt as if it was going to just drive off, I immediately put in park. This is scary because my kids rode with me and I dont want the gears to shift incorrectly and cause us to wreck. Dealer asked me to schedule a time when I can leave my vehicle for an unknown amount of time. In order to get a loaner the first available date to drop it off is November 17,22 which is over a month away.

Transmission routinely goes out of gear making a weird grinding sound, loses power and decelerates without warning. This has occurred at speeds from 10 mph to 70 mph. Neighborhood streets, roads, highways, and interstates. Very dangerous situation. The vehicle has approximately 22000 miles and this has occurred 20 times at minimum. I have been extremely lucky that this has not caused an accident or crash. The vehicle was purchased new from the dealership. I informed the dealer after numerous occurrences. The dealer inspected the vehicle in August. They said the vehicle computer time stamped the issue but they could determine the issues??? The same transmission problem has occurred 5 times since August.
For the 3rd time attempting to pass other vehicles our transmission revved up to almost 5000 rpms and would not shift after making a huge clunking sound into an obviously to low gear. We had no power and the vehicle would not accelerate. I do have a video after the clunk sound but can't upload it.

We have a 2021 Platinum Expedition that we purchased new in January of 2022. Our vehicle has had electrical/computer issues from the time of purchase. The lane keep assist did not work until the vehicle was updated or reset. The windshield wiper sensor has been replaced twice but continues to not alert me when the fluid is getting low. I am alerted of low fluid the second I am completely out of windshield washer fluid. The tpms has been a problem from time of purchase. My tire pressure display is accurate but cannot alert me when the tire pressure is low. These issues are “fixed” at the dealerships but begin to fail once I have my car back. The infotainment screen is also glitchy and gets stuck from time to time. I have to turn the vehicle off a few times and then I can begin navigating again without disruption. We bought this vehicle with an intent to tow our travel trailer. Our expy is rated to tow up to 9300 lbs. Our trailer was under 7 fully loaded. We went on one trip about 2 hours away and that was our last. We sold our trailer due to how badly our vehicle towed. My husband white knuckled the steering wheel the entire drive there and back. Our vehicle felt as if it was not in control at all. I decided to tow my brothers travel trailer that was around 4,000 pounds and our vehicle failed once again at towing safely. Our vehicle was swaying and completely unstable for the brief ride we took on the tollway going 60-65 mph. I have been dealing with Ford corporation for 8 mon

On 5/20/2022 I contacted my local dealership regarding recall 22V250 to discuss getting this issue repaired. I was scheduled an appointment on 6/16/2022 at 7:40 a.m. On 6/15/2022 I was told by the dealership that they were not going to repair my vehicle because I was not having any issues with it and I had to wait until there was a problem. When I made the appointment on 5/20/22 I was told that they would be able to repair it even if it was not broken and they would get the part ordered. I was told yesterday by the service manager that they had three parts in but they belonged to someone else and that since mine was not broken they could not fix it.

I received notice through carfax of a recall due to fire hazard. Numerous attempts at getting more information through ford has resulted in little more than referral to a local dealer. The dealer has no loaners available at this time. I Am forced to park in my driveway surrounded by trees as there is no place near me to park that avoids other structures In a chat with ford today I was told a potential temporary solution was to disconnect the battery. When I called the local dealer again and requested a quick disconnect be installed they said they don’t /won’t do that. So I am back to square one. A new expensive suv which may burn down my house and no clear solution. If I were to install a quick disconnect on my own I was told it had to be done with a ford service (why if I am paying out of pocket for it). This is potentially dangerous situation and left hanging on my own Feel like how pinto owners must have felt

The contact stated that while her husband was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power. The contact’s husband was able to pull over on the side of the road when they noticed that there was smoke coming from underneath the hood. The contact’s husband opened the hood and saw that the electrical box on the passenger’s side had caught fire. The contact’s husband attempted to put out the flames with a cup of water before the vehicle was engulfed in flames. The contact and their five children were able to safely exit the vehicle. We saw on the news our Ford Expedition could be recalled for "under hood fires." We checked our Ford App and it shows two recall issues. One for the "under hood fires" and one related to a "wiper arm loose." We have not received any recall notices from Ford but we received these notices on our Ford App. When we called Ford, we did not get anyone to help us. They just told us to park our car outside our garage away from the house. We called our local Ford Dealer and they did not know anything about the recall and repeated the statement to park outside the garage until they receive information on how to resolve the problem. We take good care of our vehicles so we don't like having our car sitting outside where it is subject to weather conditions. However, we are told the car could catch fire even when it is not turned on so we don't want to risk having our home burn down. Also, we are concerned of a safety issue of driving the car that it may catch fire. We purchased this vehicle to pull a small camper and camping season is starting. If we use this to pull our camper and the car can catch fire when not in use, we are concerned about the safety of having the car in the campground close to our camper. Ford needs to provide a resolution to this safety issue immediately. A customer should not feel they are at a risk of physical harm or harm to their home or camper. This should be a top priority to find a resolution to this problem. We should not have to park our car outside and we
Went to accelerate on on ramp and vehicle was not able to accelerate.
Vehicle is making Clicking sound when steering. Also there was an electrical sparking sound in steering wheel that was found and fixed.
The vehicle transmission has failed, potentially do to towing (the vehicle is supposed to be towable) I bought the vehicle to be able to tow behind our RV. We took a trip last July from Thousand Oaks, CA up through 5 national parks all of the way to Glacier National Park in Montana. The vehicle appeared to tow normally, i never had a problem getting the vehicle to indicate the Tow Mode was active. In January of this year (almost 6 months after the trip), my transmission made a clunking sound, and started to perform poorly. We called the dealership immediately to have it looked at. The dealer said i must have towed it incorrectly and therefore it won't be covered under warranty. I had a second opinion which did not agree with Ford's assessment. Ford had an engineer look at the transmission, and the engineer reiterated it must have been towed incorrectly. I asked how they assessed if the vehicle could have come out of tow mode through some error and the refused to answer or provide any additional details. They would only say that the transmission appears damaged from improper towing. I do not disagree with them that the vehicle could have been damaged during towing, what i disagree with is the assertion it was not properly in Tow Mode. I followed the process in the handbook, had a affirmation it was in tow mode every time before we moved the vehicle. When teh vehicle is attached to our RV there are two option. Park - when we are stationary for a period of time, or Tow Mode when
The contact owns a 2021 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the soy-based electrical wires had been damaged by rodents. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they would cover the cost of the repair. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 3,100.
The reverse camera system does not display any images, i.e., the screen is black/blue (depending on night/day) and provides no view of what is behind the vehicle. The motion and parking sensors are still providing input, but the driver cannot see what the sensors are detecting. Since this is a large SUV with multiple blind spots, this creates a hazard when trying to back up the vehicle.
Backup camera does not always work and cuts out. Also, the 360 view cameras cut out. It is hard to see in the back during low light conditions with tinted back window. Afraid would hit someone or something when backing out in public parking spaces etc. or from home driveway. Yes, it was brought to dealer's attention in April 2021 right after vehicle was purchased and then again followed up July 2020 with no updates or repairs. Dealer acknowledged the issue and said the part is on back order.
While accelerating on a busy tollway, the automatic transmission got stuck in 6th gear. The car then began to slow down, and the gear display went blank. This put my safety and the safety of others at risk, as it happened in the left lane of a busy, high-speed tollway. The local dealership refused to help--even though the car is within warranty--as they did not believe the issue was replicable. However, the car had a similar problem on a lower-speed roadway just a few weeks prior. In both incidents, the transmission became stuck in one gear, the gear display on the dashboard went blank, and the car began to decelerate.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
