While driving a 2019 Ford Expedition under normal conditions, the driver-side front seat belt pretensioner suddenly deployed without a collision, impact, hard braking event, or other apparent reason. The deployment produced a very loud explosion-like sound immediately next to the driver's head/ear and forcefully activated the seat belt pretensioner. After the deployment, the driver's seat belt became completely locked and can no longer be extended or used. There were no known warning signs immediately before the deployment. The vehicle was not involved in an accident. The failure occurred spontaneously while the vehicle was being operated. I contacted an authorized Ford dealer after the incident. The vehicle is affected by Ford's recall involving inadvertent front seat belt retractor pretensioner deployment. The dealer advised that there is currently no remedy available for the recall. Because the pretensioner has already deployed and the driver's seat belt is now inoperative, the vehicle cannot be safely operated with a functioning driver's restraint. The failed seat belt/pretensioner assembly remains installed in the vehicle and is available for inspection. I am also contacting Ford directly regarding the failure and the lack of an available recall remedy.

The seatbelt will not move at all now. I just took it into the Ford dealer and they said they are unable to fix it under the recall because it is only in the advanced stages. They recommend that I wait.

I am filing a safety complaint regarding a 2019 Ford Expedition seatbelt-related safety recall (25V197). The defect involves seatbelts that are unsafe & require replacement. Ford has acknowledged the defect but despite my numerous requests for assistance, has not provided any repair timeline, leaving the vehicle in an unsafe condition for an indefinite period. Seatbelts are a critical safety component. The defect prevents my seatbelts from functioning properly, creating risk of injury or death in the event of a crash. On XXX at 5:30 PM our passenger side seatbelt suddenly deployed while driving. At first my significant other [XXX] old female thought she'd been shot due to the loud bang & odor of gun powder when her seatbelt snapped violently, impacting her upper chest near the throat. Furthermore, the recall applies to the front driver’s side seatbelt as well. As the vehicle cannot be safely operated, I've been forced to park it until repairs are available. Manufacturer Response: Ford has stated that no parts or remedy timeframe is available. They are offering rental reimbursement, but the reimbursement rate is far below the actual cost of a rental vehicle, making it financially impossible to maintain safe transportation while waiting for Ford to provide a remedy. Impact: I'm without a safe vehicle due to a known safety defect, & Ford’s inadequate remedy/reimbursement leaves me without reasonable transportation. So I've been forced to secure a comparable rental vehicle. After

I am submitting this complaint regarding the transmission in my 2019 Ford Expedition because I believe it presents a serious safety hazard that should be investigated for a safety recall. My vehicle has approximately 108,000 miles. While driving at highway speeds, particularly when attempting to pass another vehicle, the transmission will suddenly stop providing power to the wheels. The vehicle completely loses acceleration without warning, making it impossible to safely complete a passing maneuver. This creates an extremely dangerous situation because I am left vulnerable in fast-moving traffic with no ability to accelerate out of the way of other vehicles. What makes this defect even more concerning is that the vehicle does not set any diagnostic trouble codes or illuminate a warning light when the failure occurs. After the incident, the transmission resumes normal operation and drives as though nothing happened, making it difficult to diagnose despite the serious safety risk. I have found that many owners of 2019 Ford Expeditions and other Ford vehicles equipped with the 10-speed automatic transmission have reported similar symptoms. Many of these reports identify premature failure of the CDF drum as a likely cause of the transmission malfunction. While I cannot personally confirm the exact internal failure without disassembly, the symptoms my vehicle exhibits are consistent with those widely reported by other owners. A vehicle should not unexpectedly lose the ability to a

I have 3 small children so I am concerned about my car. The gear shift goes out of drive while driving. If you push the gas and then let up and push the gas again it won’t go and if you keep pushing the gas it will start fishtailing all over the road. You have to take your foot off the gas for a period of time until it goes back in gear which causes you to completely slow down and can cause a crash. When trying to give excessive gas it will disengage and won’t go. It will only engage 1 tire and cause it to fishtail. It has almost caused an accident multiple times because it slips out of gear and it currently has a recall for a similar issue. You can’t pull over or move over wile it disengages because you can’t go anywhere if you push the gas it just accelerates like it was in park. This is not an if something happens it’s a when something happens. Nobody else can drive my vehicle because they won’t know how to stop it from happening and they may get seriously hurt. When trying to pass a vehicle on a two lane road I accelerated about 50-60% when I it clunked hard and dropped from 8th gear to neutral and left me coasting down the interstate for 30 seconds until the car reengaged. I had to get back behind the car I was pasing as there was no longer a safe distance with oncoming traffic. My kids were in the car with me. This has happened on more then one occurrence. I feel that this is a very unsafe issue that should be fixed by Ford since it could put me and my family and others in danger and pose a safety risk driving this vehicle. I have brought the vehicle into Ford and they say the PCM module need to be reprogrammed to relearn the gears. This did not make it better. We then took it in again after a reprogram and they said that my transmission needs replaced and quoted 7700 dollars. We ran into a similar problem with the engine and had to replae that as Ford also said it was not an issue and ultimatle we had to pay for the engine. Ford knows these are problems and safety issues and have fixed them in later models but has done nothing for these models. Pleae investigate and make Ford fix this.

Filed Jul 2, 2026TX

The airbag warning light illuminated on my 2019 Ford Expedition. My Ford dealer diagnosed the vehicle and confirmed that the condition is related to an active Ford safety recall. The dealer also confirmed that the defect disables the entire Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), meaning the airbags will not deploy in the event of a collision. I was informed that the recall replacement part will not be available until approximately December 2026 and that Ford will not authorize an interim repair or replacement using available parts. As a result, I am expected to continue driving a vehicle with a disabled airbag system for several months despite the known safety defect. The dealer advised that if I choose to have the vehicle diagnosed or repaired before the recall remedy becomes available, I must pay the costs myself and may only be eligible for reimbursement if Ford later authorizes it. This defect significantly increases the risk of serious injury or death because the airbags will not deploy in a crash. I am filing this complaint because a manufacturer should not leave owners without a functioning airbag system for months while waiting for recall parts.

The manufacturer Ford issued three urgent safety recalls in May/June 2026, including recall #26S48 for transmission parking system failure and recall #26S34 for front seatbelt failures. The official status from Ford is 'Remedy Not Yet Available' and I was notified that parts might not be available until late 2026 or 2027. This vehicle is my essential tool for rideshare work (Uber/Lyft). Due to federal transportation safety regulations and Uber policies, I am legally prohibited from transporting passengers with active, unremedied safety recalls. This has completely destroyed my family's financial livelihood. Furthermore, driving this vehicle puts my life, my passengers, and my 4 children at an imminent risk of death or catastrophic injury due to potential transmission failure while driving or seatbelt failure during an accident. The manufacturer and the dealer (Findlay Chevrolet) are failing to provide a remedy within a reasonable timeframe under federal warranty laws, leaving me with a $38,000 active debt for an un-driveable, dangerous asset. I am requesting an official investigation to force a manufacturer buyback.

On XXX, while driving my 2019 Ford Expedition (VIN: [XXX]) on the highway, the front passenger seatbelt retractor pretensioner spontaneously deployed with a loud explosion and smoke. There was no accident, no impact, and no erratic driving. The seatbelt is now completely locked and unusable, and the entire SRS/Airbag system is disabled with a hard fault light on the dash. My vehicle is covered under the newly expanded Safety Recall 26S34 / NHTSA Campaign 26V344. I immediately visited an authorized Ford dealership (Covert Ford) seeking an interim repair or a safe loaner vehicle. The dealer refused to help, stated that the parts are unavailable, and handed me an internal printout stating that the FSA program is paused (Recall 24S06 Supplement #1). Ford and the dealership are forcing me to drive an unsafe vehicle with a compromised restraint system and disabled airbags, putting my family at extreme risk because they do not have a remedy or interim solution available. A few months later on June 7, 2022 my wife was injured when her hand was lacerated by a sharp piece of chrome trim in the console area of the same vehicle. The injury to her hand was much worse than mine and resulted in a significant scar. The vehicle will also die at times when the auto stop engine activates. The new issues have not been addressed by a dealer yet. Safety is at risk when accelerating because it cuts out and you could be hit by an oncoming vehicle or fail to maneuver appropriately without acceleration power. The recall for hesitation was completed on this vehicle by the Ford dealership and the issue resurfaced after this was done.

Seat Belts

While driving down the highway I suddenly heard a loud bang and what looked like smoke came out from the area by the front passenger seatbelt. The seatbelt had suddenly retracted fully and locked. Thankfully the seat was unoccupied at the time, so nobody was injured by this. When calling the local Ford dealership we were told we needed to bring vehicle in for inspection before parts could be ordered. When we called back to schedule the inspection we were told the recall was paused so we needed to wait to even have the inspection. After contacting Ford corporate we were finally able to bring in for inspection 06/01/2026 to confirm what we already knew about the broken seatbelt retractor. The dealership relayed this info to Ford, and Ford told them not to fix it at this time. When we called the dealership 06/08 they relayed that info to us. We then requested that Ford provide us a loaner vehicle. The dealership called us back 06/09 to let us know that Ford would not be providing a loaner vehicle. Our front passenger seat is occupied about 95% of the time, and that seatbelt is completely unusable. We have not been given any kind of timeline for when it can be repaired, and have no other option but to drive it the way it is. It is illegal and we are forced to put the life of one of our family members at risk because we do not have any extra seats or the money to buy yet another vehicle or pay for a rental as we are still paying for this vehicle that we bought less than a year ago

Vehicle Speed Control
Filed Jun 10, 2026TX

Multiple times we have received Powertrain Failure warnings. These warnings typically happen when driving in cruise control but also happens in normal driving. The car has trouble shifting gears, gets stuck in gears, and has trouble downshifting. This creates unsafe and unstable driving especially at high speeds. Repeated visits to the dealer have yielded no results and the dealer has not mentioned transmission work one time despite a clear issue and widespread issues with this transmission model. This issue has been persistent since the car was bought.

The 10 Speed Transmission, also known as 10R80, is absolutely horrible and should be banned. I have the 2019 ford expedition manufacturered in January of 2019 there is constant jerking, poor shifting, delayed gear recognition, slipping gears while going highway speeds and side streets are the worst, this is a great concern of mine. My dealership will not fix the issue due to manufacturer warranty is out. However this is a known issue after this model was built. Ford is no help they said there is no warranty on it to fix it amd no customer satisfaction program available. I do not have $10,000 or more to replace this issue. CDF drum of this model was also found to be defective.

Continued transmission issues, losing power, hard shifts, down shifts at random times. Been to the dealership several times about this. Safety issues due to being on busy highways at 65+ mph and loss of power or down shifts puts myself and others at risk of a wreck. No warning signs. Started reporting issues in September of 2025. Dealership has made 3 attempts to fix and the issue hasn’t been resolved.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
