Car would not shift into Drive. Reverse did work. Car towed to mechanic replaced transmission!
It started to act like it was stalling out so I stopped on the side of the road and opened the door to listen. The car was in gear but the brake peddle was pressed all the way down. When I opened the door the panel came up with a warning saying the "Transmission not in Park press Ok". So I pressed Ok and closed the door. I drove forward a few inches, listening thru the window with the door closed. It still wasnt acting right so I stopped in the middle of the road, moved the gear shifter to Park and noticed the drivers panel indicated the gear the car was in was Neutral even though the shifter is in Park. I got out of the car and moved it out of the middle of the road and it went over a small hump I couldn't see, and slid into a fence. I spent the next 25 minutes trying to rock the car to either move backward or forward and away from the fence, obtaining a few bruises (nothing serious) in the process, and was unable to move the car on my own. I had to engage the parking brake, lock the car, and started walking to look for help or cell phone service, as I had none where I was. After a stranger stopped to help get it off the road completely, I watched YouTube videos of easy fixes for the problem and found a video explaining how to "push" the neutral safety locking switch, inside the dash surrounding the gear shifter, tried this remedy and it allowed the gear shifter to move and shift into Neutral or any of the gears below (ND12) but will not shift into Park or Reverse. I had som
My transmission shifter cable bushing failed while on a car ride home with my son leaving me stranded 96 miles from home. I had to pay $450 to tow it home. Ford doesn't have any parts to fix my vehicle that I can not drive and only recommends I rent a car until October. I can not afford this as I am a single mom and teacher....school resumes in 2 weeks.
Coolant light came on low Coolant I added more than came on again and again low on Coolant had it checked out 2 times can't get parts for it because only Ford can only have parts took it to them 3 times and now they say option 1 tear down to find it or option 2 replace the whole motor because it would run into labor times been leaking since I had it last year only had about 89,000 miles on it and still waiting to get it fix engine warning light been coming on plus the low Coolant light

Transmission without warning; "check engine light'. It was collision. I made a left turn from the stop sign when I pulled into the path of the vehicle which had the right way. I saw white vehicle and it was little further and I can make it to turn left without collision. But the suv won't let me move to 2 lanes and collision. I remember that one day before collision. I notice that rpm was 5 when I was on highway after traffic light. It is not normal for rpm 5 and usually 3. NO warning - 'check engine light'. I feel that it is not safe without warning. The grandchildren and I were in accident and escaped from hurt. Airbag curtains are really work.

One day after a scheduled oil change my Escape idled very rough upon start up. The check engine light came on. I returned to the Dealer and they found the code was for the cylinder 1 misfire. the code was cleared and reported to me then it did the same thing for the next several days but no check engine light would come on. Today, upon start it idled rough and "Low Coolant require service" message popped up on my dash. Having pressure tested tomorrow to see if coolant is leaking into the cylinder.
The car failed while driving, it was inspected by and independent mechanic and also the Ford dealership, van bortel Ford in Rochester NY - it's a 2014 Ford escape titanium with 60,000 miles on it. They said the coolant leaked into the engine and the engine now needs to be replaced. We routinely maintained the car. There was no indication or lights that went off warning us of the issue - the car just suddenly stopped working one day and said it was overheating but there was no smoke coming from the engine. The transmission seized and would not go into any gear. I was pulling out into street traffic from a parking spot, stuck diagonally while cars tried to avoid hitting my car by sharing a lane if necessary. This was the day after receiving transmission bushing recall. Ford will not assist and transmission has to be completely replaced, which is financially impossible. Already experienced the dangerous engine issue (rebuilt twice and check engine light still on for cooling sensor) that Ford refused to take accountability for. Had that transmission seized while on major road or highway, I shudder to think of results. Please do not allow Ford to continue this insidious behavior.
For the past five years, I've been experiencing low coolant issues which I realize isn't a safety problem in and of itself. It's been an ongoing issue and I've spent hundreds of dollars to have the same problem continuing to recur. The mechanics claim there's no leak yet every 2-3 months I have to put antifreeze in my car. Several times without notice (low coolant light not working), a high temp light comes on telling me to pull over to safety. The engine goes to low power. Usually after about 10-15 minutes, the car is fine. I've explained this to the dealership and never have they been able to find a problem, but I think the two are connected. The most recent safety-related issue was without notice, the high temp warning came on in very busy traffic and the car powered-down, presenting a significant safety hazard. THE CONSUMER REFERENCED RECALL 22S43/22V413, STATING THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE. THE CONSUMER REQUESTED TO BE REIMBURSED FOR THE REPAIR.

I have an open recall on my 2014 Ford Escape. It says the date here was June 10th, 2022, however I was not informed until I got the letter in the mail on July 19th, 2022. I was going to leave to the grocery store on Sunday the 17th of July, when the shift gear was not at all working and it hasn’t been working ever since. I am just thankful that it happened at home and not any where else. However, I do wish I was emailed or sent a letter earlier to have prevented me from having this problem.
March 9, 2022 I was driving my Ford Escape (Titanium AWD 2.0 eco boost 83083 miles )on hwy 20 in Niceville Fl. Without warning the vehicle stop acceleration at 45mile per hour. As I stopped applying pressure to the throttle the vehicle rpms continued to over rev on their own but the vehicle was not moving and the transmission was not engaging or shifting. I pulled over into the nearest AUTO ZONE STORE, where a tech gave me a fix finder report with codes P0751 SSA PERFORMANCE STUCK ON OR OFF MOST Likely POWER TRAIN SYSTEM. I had my vehicle towed to the nearest Ford dealership in Crestview Florida. They kept the car for a week then told me to take it to the Gary Smith Ford in Ft Walton Beach Fl because they didn't have any mechanics to work on cars. Had it towed to Gary Smith FORD where it has sat in their pkg lot for the month because they say they don't have mechanics either who can work on transmissions or cars yet. The safety issue is that it literally shuts off and doesn't accelerate creating a dangerous situation while driving. I was almost hit from behind with no way to drive out of the situation.
My car gear is stuck it will not move My car literally will not move because I can’t switch gears
Side door unable to latch. The latch does not come up to securely shut the door. When I try to shut the door it just bounces back.

I have owned this Ford for 3 years now. It uses coolent excessively and I have replaced many parts. The Catalyic Converter went out, all motor mounts, font and rear suspension, engine burp valve, faulty throttle body, fried drivers side bulb socket, wiper arms stripped, weather stipping corroding on windshield near hood, front window cracked and damaged, coolent temperature control sensor and firmwware update not automated and dealer charges $250 to update car software for engine improved performance. Sluggish, bogging and unresponsive car until software update and throttle body repair. All around a lemon for as many parts I've put on in a short amount of time. I've spent over $3300 on parts alone. The dealer in Upland services the cars oil but fails to fill the fluids, spills oil on my spark plugs and ruins the fasteners to the skid plate by over torqueing them. It has been the worst car experience of my life and I've never had to replace so many parts in so short of time. I drove a 1974 Nova around for 20 years and still haven't replaced as many parts. This is ridiculous and predatary of Ford to put out cars with these many short term problems on them. Literally evering is going bad after 100k miles. I read post after post of people needing new engines and transmissions because of Fords incompetience. I just got a recall for the Transmission which means the car is unsafe to drive and Ford does not have the ability to fix it until the end of the year. Without a rental or rep
While driving on the highway at 65mph the engine began to fail. The Engine light came on and began flashing. I lost power in the engine, the car began to jerk and lost acceleration. Luckily I was able to make it to the side of the road and call for assistance. I had the vehicle towed to a repair shop, the mechanic ran a diagnostic test. It was determined that there is internal engine failure. The car is at 113,000 miles and hadn't had any issues or warnings prior to this happening. The mechanics can not find what has caused the engine failure. I was told that the engine needs to be replaced at an estimated cost of 7000 dollars! This vehicle has been maintained and taken care of, it's very dangerous having an engine spontaneously fail while driving on the highway. The engine should not be failing at 113,000 miles.
The mechanical brake booster is connected to the overhead cam on Fords Ecoboost engine. This part is a vacuum pump that is powered by the overhead cam shaft. Over time the vacuum pump begins to have issues and becomes increasingly harder for the cam to turn. As the vacuum pump slows, it causes the brakes to be less efficient and increases stopping distance. As the pump degrades, it eventually will fail and freeze up. When this happens, the internal connection to the overhead cam shaft shears off. This cause a complete loss of breaking power leaving only the emergency brake to stop the vehicle. It also drops the internal connectors from the vacuum pump into the motor which damages the motor to the point where the motor must be replaced at a very high cost (it exceeds $10,000). Fords warranty does not cover this design failure. Owners of these vehicles are forced to replace the motor at their own cost or to scrap the vehicle. I believe that ford was aware of the possibility of the mechanical vacuum pump failure when they tested the design on F150s. Ford made a design change on the F150s to an electric vacuum pump. This may have been due to the F150s use as work vehicle and as a towing vehicle which exasperated the issue. Please investigate this issue, I believe you will find many other people who have this same issue with the eco boost engine design.

As of 6/10/2022 there is a ford recall on my vehicle for the transmission shifter cable #22S43. On 6/30/2022 my vehicle stopped working. The transmission is stuck in park and the gear shift is not registering that the car is supposed to be shifting gears. I had the car towed to Ford but they do not have the part and do not know when they will be able to accommodate me. They told me they cannot give me a loaner because they do not have any and I do not qualify for one, because of this I do not have a vehicle to get to and from work. This is causing me to lose out on money from work.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the check engine warning light illuminated and there was smoke coming from underneath the hood. Additionally, the temperature gauge indicated that the engine was overheated. Upon inspection, it was discovered that the engine coolant was constantly low however, there were no visible leaks present. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that coolant had leaked into the engine cylinder causing severe damage to the engine. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 100,000.
Coolant is being leaked into the engine, have to "top" off coolant every couple of weeks, no visible leaks underneath, engine light has come on, and there has been rough idling and driving experienced. Engine light will go off (on its own) and car will run ok, but happening more frequently and feel the inevitable is an engine replacement (was told that this is what will need to happen)

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
