Most likely due to manufacturing defect or other issue related to, coolant is mixing into the engine cylinder causing a cylinder misfire. My vehicle is outside of the original manufacturer's warranty by about a year and now needs a new engine due to this defect. At 68,363 miles, there should not be a need for a new $6,000 plus tax engine with zero accountability or apology from Ford. This should have been a recall plain and simple and all costs associated with resolving this issue should be responsibility of the manufacturer. In June 2019, Ford issued a technical service bulletin of this known issue outlining the affected vehicles with a 2.0L EcoBoost engines, but did not communicate with affected owners or issue a recall to have this problem addressed nor do they offer a courtesy extension to the manufacturer's warranty for owners. While my family was lucky that we encountered this issue while we are in our home city, and not on the road driving to visit family in another state, it is not a stretch of the imagination that this could result in serious injury to unsuspecting, affected Ford vehicle owners. There is no repair invoice at the moment as my vehicle is currently still at the dealership awaiting parts.

Moon roof glass cracked on its own, looks like a spider web. Afraid that glass cracks will continue to grow and begin leaking or worse chip off shards that could possibly cut skin. Has not been inspected by dealer, police, manufacturer or insurance. No warning lights or any other symptoms or indications - simply opened the roof cover one day & discovered the cracked glass. The moon roof electrical slide functions properly, it’s just the glass that is the issue.

Tires were getting rotated when they told me the lug nuts were swollen and needed to be replaced. Please make this right. I already had to pay extra for the tires when getting new ones and now $146 to get lug nuts replaced. The car is 6 years old. Not to mention the safety issue of this-tire can fall off and possibly unable to change tire if there is a flat.

My check engine light came on. The code was P0304. I had the spark plug and ignition coil replaced, but the check engine light came back on. The vehicle began to overheat. A technician was able to find that the coolant was leaking into the engine. I've taken it to a Ford dealership who confirmed this and has told me I need a new long block. The cost of this repair is over $9500. Upon researching this problem, it has been WELL documented since 2010 to be an issue with this engine, and NHTSA even issued a service bulletin about this issue with this year/make/model as of December 2019. The issue does not begin to happen until after the warranty period has passed, and the vehicle can catch fire with this defect. Knowing this issue exists, this engine needs to be recalled so that people do not need to worry about their vehicles overheating and catching fire! The responsibility of cost should not shift just because the issue does not present itself until a vehicle hits a higher mileage, which still is not that high.

My 2017 ford edge check engine light came on with an error code P0302 cylinder 2 misfire. I took it to a local mechanic who replaced the spark plugs and engine coils. Within 3 days the check engine light returned along with engine running rough. The mechanic discovered the same error code and decided the new engine coils were defective. 3 days later the same issue occurred. I have had my engine coils replaced 3 times. Today the mechanic completed a pressure test to discover that coolant is leaking into my engine and advised contacting ford as there has been a technical service bulletin by ford. I have now discovered this is a common issue with fords motor in the edge model and continuing to drive this vehicle will put myself and children in danger as there is a risk of engine fire.

About the car in January of 2022. I was told By more than one ford motor company service employee that ford motor company only installs new engines when an engine fails and has to be replaced. In a nine month period the car has had four new engines and two turbos. I learned after it needed the 2nd asylum. At the dealership who installed the 1st engine put a junk yard motor in it claiming it was new from Ford motor company. The parts numbers that are on the receipt are in fact ford motor company parts numbers. When the motor was taken out for the 2nd engine to be put in it I saw it with the service manager it had rushed all over it and a. Two thousand fourteen stamp on the back of it. Upon inspection -Code #P0303 (Cal 3 Misfire) The technician noted no coolant in reservoir and no external leaks were noted. They said we need a new engine because of that internal coolant leak and referred us to the manufacture to in hopes of replacing the engine.- My safety and the safety of my family was put at risk because the engine for one could have actually caught fire or stalled while driving. - Yes the problem has been reproduced and confirmed by a dealer. - No, the vehicle has not been inspected by police or insurance. - No, warning lamps did not originally turn on. Approximately one month ago I noticed that my engine began running roughly upon a cold start. The engine was misfiring and running rough until the vehicle warmed up. Shortly afterwards, the Check Engine light came on. I took my vehicle to the original Ford Dealer for service. The Service Consultant contacted within a day with the following information: - Identified the Check Engine light as an Engine Misfire in cylinder X (I don’t recall) - Misfire was caused by coolant intrusion. I immediately asked if it was a head gasket. He said no, and proceeded to tell me: -Coolant is leaking into cylinder -There is a crack in the engine block between coolant passage and cylinder X - They have seen this in the past, and apparently is a known issue, and Ford has since fixed the design of this engine (EcoBoost 2.0L). - The extended warranty company denied the claim as their claim was that the "Engine Block" failure was NOT caused by the failure of an internally lubricated part. I have found the following information regarding this engine flaw: - There is a class-action lawsuit Reed et al. v. Ford Motor Company - 1:20-cv-01631 against Ford specifically about this problem. - Ford has issued a TSB (# 22-2229) outlining the issue, troubleshooting, and repair process. - This flaw can cause engine cooling issues, engine overheating, engine fire, catastrophic engine failure. - The fix to this problem is an Engine Long Block replacement. - There have been issues with other EcoBoost engines, and F

A check engine light came on in our 2017 Ford Edge 2.0L engine and the engine would shake when turning the car on. After taking it to the dealership, the car had two codes that came up: 0316 and 0302. After inspecting the car further, the diagnosis was that it was a blown head gasket. The car has 34,000 miles, and this issue should not happen this early. After some research, we learned that Ford Edge with our 2.0L engine, years 2016-2018, keep having this engine issue. Our understanding is this is a known issue due to the block design and the head gasket seal not being sized large enough. This problem was reproduced by the dealership and the recommendation is to replace the entire engine with a new 2.0L produced after 2018 when Ford redesigned the engine addressing the problem. The online community is complaining of having to deal with very high repair costs of this issue (needing to replace the whole engine), but Ford has not addressed it with the many owners or issued a recall.

On 03/16/2018 my wife noticed her brakes were not working correctly. The brake pedal would go straight to the floor and she had trouble getting the car to stop. She called and said the warning for low brake fluid came on as well. When she arrived home I noticed the rear driver side brake line was leaking. The car had to be towed to Arrow Ford in Abilene, Texas. The dealership tried to say my wife ran something over but the location behind the rear shock does not allow any room for debris to hit the brake line. We’ve already have had the front brake line rupture before the recall on the front brake lines. We had to pay out of our pocket without reimbursement and now we are going to pay for the rear brake line to be replaced. This is an extremely dangerous issue with ford brake lines that needs to be addressed. Luckily my wife was driving in town at slower speeds cause this could have been fatal. There has been no inspection on the component except from the dealership mechanic after the rupture. Currently my wife’s vehicle sits at the dealership waiting for repairs.

The engine light came on to warn me of an engine problem. Come to find out there is a Technical Service Bulletin on this issue for many Fords. This has been confirmed by Ford dealer service center and Ford customer service. This first appeared about a month ago in my car. However, Ford refuses to help and is making people buy new engines. This should be a RECALL. It is terrible that Ford is not being forced to recall all vehicles with this potential problem and cover the costs for repair. They are reponsible for this safety issue.

On 2-17-23, the right rear brake hose ruptured. The brake pedal sunk almost to the floor and two different brake warning lights came on. The brake fluid reservoir had no visible fluid in it and I saw fluid on the right rear tire. That day I took the vehicle to a dealership in Beaverton, OR without accident or injury. In September 2020 both front flexible brake hoses were replaced due to Recall 20S42/NHTSA Recall 20V-469. If, as I suspect the rear brake hoses are made by the same manufacturer as the front hoses it seems logical that the rear hose rupture is also a factory defect that likely should be recalled. So far 3 out of 4 of the brake hoses have been replaced- the front two under NHTSA safety recall for fear of rupture and the right rear for actual dangerous rupture. I am extremely worried about the potential untimely and dangerous rupture of the left rear brake hose. On 4-26-20, I purchased a Ford PremiumCARE extended warranty that is in effect for this vehicle, but so far Ford refuses to cover the right or left rear brake hose under warranty. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau Arbitration Program for Ford over this matter (Attached).

While driving on the interstate in evening rush hour traffic, the traffic became "stop and go" traffic. I applied the brakes and to much my surprise the pedal went from firm to a bleed off condition. I was unable to pull over so I began driving the vehicle then shifting to neutral and pumping the brake in order to stop. This condition continued until my brake fluid low warning came on. I eventually made it to a Quick Trip and was able to look under the hood and the underside of the car did not see anything dripping. I purchased some brake fluid and used all of it to fill the reservoir, as it appeared that the system was dry and no more fluid was available to leak out. My daughter met me at the Quick Trip and I had her follow me another 9 miles to drop off a Foster Dog and then home. When we stopped to drop off the dog she noticed a small area at my passenger rear tire that was dripping. I inspected it and confirmed that it was brake fluid. She continued to follow me home and she noted that when I put on my brakes before pulling onto the service road that it was "raining fluid" from the passenger rear tire area. When I got it to the house I put the car up on jacks, removed the tire and found the hydraulic hose, that supplies the brake calliper, had an area that was ruptured.

My engine has coolant intrusion, which makes the car more at risk for engine failure or can start on fire and the only way to fix is a whole new engine replacement. This vehicle only has 56,800 miles and ford isn’t willing to replace engine because it’s met its 5 year warranty period but has not meet the 60,000 warranty period. I use this vehicle to travel with my family and just thinking it could start on fire any time do to an engineer flaw is ridiculous. This vehicle poses safety concerns for many families and I hope you guys hold the manufacturer responsible for these issues.

The vehicle began making water sloshing sounds behind the dashboard and the check engine light came on. Upon inspection the mechanic found the car was very low on coolant. They had to add nearly 1 gallon back. The check engine light code was due to a cylinder misfire on start up. Ford has a bulletin 22-2229 detailing their knowledge of this exact issue. The dealership confirmed this is the issue this vehicle is experiencing. Had I continued to use the vehicle under these conditions, my engine could have experienced failure while driving. This could cause a serious accident putting the safety of passengers, pedestrians and other drivers at risk. While Ford acknowledges the existence of this issue, they have not made customers aware. This is Ford's description of this known issue- "Some 2015-2018 Edge and 2017-2019 Fusion/MKZ/Escape/MKC vehicles equipped with a 2.0L EcoBoost engine may exhibit a low coolant level, white exhaust smoke and/or a runs rough condition with or without an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL). Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) may include P0300, P0301-P0304, P0316, P0217, P1285 and/or P1299 stored in powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to coolant intrusion into the cylinder. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to replace the long block engine assembly."

We were driving down the road and the check engine light came on so we took it in and they said the #2 cylinder was miss firing. So they changed the plug and coil on #2. The check engine light went away until the next day when we drove it. So we took it back and they checked it again and it was the same issue. But after further checking they found that the #2 cylinder has coolant leaking into it causing the misfiring and engine using coolant. So after all of that they said I needed a new engine. It will cost me $7600 to replace it if I wanted to keep using my car. I did not have any other choice other than to have it fixed. I don’t have the money to buy a new car so that’s all we could do. We just got the car back and after 2 days it seems to be fixed. It’s totally nuts that Ford will not pay anything towards fixing it. Also the guy at the dealership told me when I picked it up to drive for 3 years and then get rid of it because I have unlimited mileage warranty for that time. I have 76000 miles on the car when this happened and never in my years seen this on any car I have owned its totally rediculous that Ford will not HELP!!!!!!!

The 2.0 ecoboost engine failed in my 2017 Ford Edge Titanium when coolant began pouring into the number two cylinder. I had a warranty on it so it is currently being replaced with a remanufactured engine since this is a common issue with this particular engine. I felt unsafe driving it because it was unclear when or if it would overheat and stall me on the side of the road. The vehicle is currently at an independent service center where it has sat for over three weeks while they worked with the warranty company on a replacement plan. There was an inspection done at the service center. The check engine light came on a short while after I purchased it, at less than 500 miles of being driven by me. The code was "Misfire in cylinder 2", which was caused by the coolant flooding the cylinder. This is a common issue with this particular engine from what I have read online since purchasing it and Ford should do the responsible thing and recall them all before someone is injured from it overheating.

There is a coolant leak into my engine cylinders that has completely ruined my engine. They told me they’re surprised my engine hasn’t caught fire. They refuse to cover it even though the issue falls under TSB 22-2229 but they say the VIN doesn’t. There’s many lawsuits against them because it’s an issue with the Ford engine 2.0-liter turbo-four ecoboost engine. It’s happen to many people without warning. I luckily caught it before my engine blew. If you look up the TSB online there are many lawsuits against Ford right now and they still refuse to put out a recall and the new engine costs $9,000. It’s a safety concern because there’s no warning and the engine has potential to catch fire or blow. I read online that if your car has this engine that it is only a matter of time before this happens. Ford tried to blame the issue on me and tell me that I didn’t keep up with maintenance and they completely didn’t tell me about the TSB for the car. She managed to slowly get the vehicle to our home without having to be towed . I then inspected the vehicle and after taking off the drivers side rear wheel realized the brake line at the caliper had burst and allowed the brake fluid to drain out. Keeping in mind there was a recall on the front brake lines which we had repaired-I was hopeful FORD would also repair this brake line. After contacting the dealership was told no recall had been issued for this problem and I would have to have it repaired myself. Luckily my wife or someone else wasn’t seriously injured throughout this incident. The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated that when his wife started the vehicle, she placed the vehicle into the drive(D), and the rear window glass shattered without warning. The failure formed a spider-like crack on the window which obstructed her vision. The contact stated that his wife exited the vehicle and closed the door and a circular hole fell from the cracked window. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 103,000.

Check engine came on took it to our mechanic, he changed sensor and put new spark plugs in. Then called us and said that coolant was leaking into the cylinders and we would have to replace engine. It just came off 2 months ago extended warranty has only 71,455 on truck. Ford has know about the problem and done nothing for owners. The sent out service bulletin on this problem TSB-22-2229. Feel they should replace engine due to a known issue that effect the eco boost engines

Took my car in for oil change and tire rotation. I was called that all 20 of my lug nuts have to be replaced due to swelling. For $180, which I’ve never in my life had to replace the lug nuts on any other vehicle I’ve owned. Not just one but all 20 need to be replaced.

Since November I am smelling antifreeze and exhaust in the cabin of the car. It was so bad it would burn my eyes- we had to ride with windows open, in the winter in the NE. Took to Ford the found a TPI on the exhaust odors but have to go through “steps” to find it. While I pay a deductible for them to find this. Ford is aware of exhaust odors but has not issued a recall yet for this.

While driving the vehicle on a major roadway in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, my vehicle suddenly stopped! It would not move forward or backwards. This was a definite safety issue and fortunately, the only cars around me were in the left and right lanes. I was in the middle lane and fortunately there was not a car directly behind me, or it would have run right into me. My vehicle went from travelling at 60 miles per hour to a complete standstill. My car is currently in Monroeville Ford right now for the same problem. This is after having the transmission replaced twice and having the engine replaced. The thing that is alarming is that was a safety issue and I, along with others could have been killed. It was only by the grace of God that other vehicles weren't behind me when my vehicle suddenly stopped.

On 08/17/22 I took my car into Bill Collins because there was a loss of coolant, and my SUV was acting up. It was jerking randomly. At the time the SUV was noted to have 63,860 miles. Dealership fixed recalls on vehicle and did a pressure test and said there was a water pump leak. Replaced water pump and gasket. Check engine light remained on and when asked dealership about it they said in order to get the check engine light off it would have to go to another part of the dealership, and we would be charged another $99 diagnostic fee. On 11/21/22 SUV was taken back to Bill Collins because it was still doing the same thing. This time you could also hear water moving/draining from behind the dash and the check engine light was still on. Dealership fixed another recall showing on vehicle and said that the water pump had air pocket. Sent home but sputtering engine was not fixed. 12/08/22 contacted dealership again to let them know that nothing they have done over the past several months has worked and SUV is still acting up. Was told they would have a higher up mechanic look at vehicle to see what the issue was. Dealership contacted us two days later stating that vehicle needs a new motor. Current mileage 67,883. Dealership stated they verified coolant intrusion into cylinder and that it is necessary to replace the long block. Exact verbiage from dealership employee. (Coolant intrusion into cylinder #2. Verified defective engine block. Coolant leaking internally.) My SUV has been

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
