Coolant leaking into cylinder. Runs rough, check engine light on
2016 Ford Edge complaints

The engine did not want to go from a stop condition. I was pulling out if an intersection and the engine seemed to misfire. I almost got t-boned.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Edge. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V544000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that while driving on several occasions and depressing the brake pedal to stop the vehicle, the message "Low Brake Fluid" was displayed, the brake pedal went to the floorboard, and the vehicle failed to respond as intended, causing the braking distance to be extended. The vehicle was taken to Auto Zone, where it was diagnosed and determined that the brake master cylinder had failed and the brake lines were leaking. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 190,214.
Check engine light on. Rough idle and start. Coolant intrusion in cylinders. Known Ford issue affecting engine. No recalls but Bulletin posted by Ford.
Check engine light and add coolant warning came on. When I let the car cool down, I looked and noticed coolant reservoir was completely empty. No puddle under vehicle. Walked to nearest auto parts store, bought 2 gallons of the needed coolant. Next day had vehicle towed to repair facility.
Engine coolant keeps getting severely low. Coolant intrusion into cylinder 3 is occuring causing severe misfire, low compression, coolant consumption, power loss, white smoke, that causes minor throat and eye irritation, and catalytic converter damage. Constant low coolant level increases risk of fire hazard of vehicle.

The contact inspected his vehicle and discovered that the rear driver-side brake line hose had been leaking brake fluid. As the failure persisted, the "Brake Fluid Level Low Service Now" would appear on the instrument panel as the contact would have to replenish the brake fluid. The local dealer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and was given the same information as the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
I have a ford edge 2016, which I can see online that many vehicles like mine are having the same problems. I am having a severe coolant leak into the engine. It trembles when I start it or when I am at a red light, white smoke leaks out of my exhaust when I first start my car after adding coolant. I am constantly adding coolant, mostly every other day because it burns it so fast. My vehicle alerts me if it is overheating when I am am low in coolant, which scares me to think of a fire. I don't have the money to fix such an expensive repair. I feel that this is Fords responsibility to fix such a big, dangerous and costly issue.

The contact owns a 2016 Ford Edge. The contact received a notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V544000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulics); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds and attempting to apply the brakes, the vehicle's rear wheels would lock and cause the vehicle to lose traction while the brake pedal was depressed. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.
While driving my 2016 Ford Edge Titanium, I felt a sudden popping sensation while applying the brakes and the brake pedal immediately went to the floor, resulting in major loss of braking ability. I was able to slowly and carefully get the vehicle parked before completely losing stopping ability. Brake fluid appeared to be leaking from the rear driver-side brake area. This vehicle previously experienced front brake hose failures related to prior Ford brake hose recalls. One front brake hose failed first, and the opposite front side later failed as well. Ford previously reimbursed me for one of those repairs after the recall became officially active. The current rear brake failure symptoms closely match Ford Recall 25S87 / NHTSA Recall 25V544000 involving rear brake hose rupture and brake fluid leakage in 2015–2018 Ford Edge vehicles. Landmark Ford in Tigard, Oregon and the Ford Customer Relationship Center have both confirmed that this repair is tied to the pending “advanced notice” rear brake hose recall affecting this vehicle platform, although the recall is not yet officially active. This failure created a serious safety hazard because the vehicle experienced sudden loss of braking, with no warning, while the vehicle was in motion creating a serious risk of collision, injury, or death to myself, my passengers, and others on the roadway because the vehicle could not safely stop under normal braking conditions. No prior warning lamps or brake failure warnings were observed b
Two-piece Ford OEM lug nuts, used on numerous Ford models and years, are notorious for swelling, rendering them unremovable with a standard lug nut wrench. Although the issue is well-known by people in the auto and auto parts industries, it is not generally known by the average Ford owner. This places the driver of such a vehicle at risk of being stranded, unable to replace a flat tire with the spare tire, and subject to an extended period of the risks associated with disabled vehicles beside busy roadways. It also subjects them to a towing, or roadside service, expense that would otherwise be unnecessary. Since Ford has, thus far, not owned this as a recall issue, once the vehicle owner is aware of it, they also bear the cost of replacing the lug nuts -- $10 per nut for the same Ford two-piece nuts, or $5 to $15 or more for suitable one-piece nuts, plus $140 to $180 for labor (more if any of the nuts are swollen or seized) to install them.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Edge. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V544000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the part for the repair was unavailable. The contact stated the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the remedy to be available. The contact stated that when applying the brakes, they noticed the brakes seemed to be dragging or slow to brake, and the contact noticed a sound as if an excessive amount of air pressure was being released when the brakes were applied. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The manufacturer initially stated that the remedy would be available in April of 2026; however, they had not received notice that a remedy was available. The was contacted, and it was stated that the remedy would not be available, and they would not know more till around September of 2026. The failure mileage was 115,251.
Ford dealership (Evansville Ford in Evansville, WI) came out to inspect my rear view camera for recall #25S89. After they did this the back up sensors that beep when someone is behind you when you are in reverse no longer work. It almost caused a crash.
. The car would make 'running water sounds" when turned off and smelled funny. We were feeling odd, migraines, nausea and upper respiratory infections. It smelled like coolant and we became very concerned for our safety. We had just had one recall repaired and cannot believe something else is now at fault! Per the Ford dealership there was a service bulletin stating a known defect in a part that prevents coolant leaking into the engine. Ford shared the bulletin and that the engine cannot be repaired. This is due to a known defect with the part that is even on google as a DEFECT. Ford is now saying I have to pay $6K for a new engine because they cannot repair the defective part because the engine is now ruined due to the leak. I purchased a warranty for the car, but that company is saying this is a defect on Ford. This should be a recall due to Ford admitting fault in the part causing this issue. We are so lucky the car didn't seize on the interstate!

Received recall notice around August 2025. Called ford and they said there was no fix for the current recall. February 2026 my daughter was driving home and lost all pressure in her brakes. She made it home safely and I added brake fluid and started the car and as I pumped the brakes fluid started pouring out from the rear hose. I called ford and had it towed down to the dealership the next morning. They fixed it and confirmed it was the rear brake hose which was listed in the recall but it hadn’t been posted yet so I had to pay everything out of pocket to include tow, car rental and repairs.

My RDU (rear diffrencial unit) went out at 122k miles directly after replacing the fluid at the shop. This repair was extreamly exprensive totalling out at 5k. With still owing 11k on my loan. I feel this is a ford defect that needs to be remediated.
This is for recall 25s89/ NHTSA 25V572. Took my car to the dealer and they confirmed and found C1001:01. They refused service and blamed a faulty wire harness. They stated fixed points which indicates tampering or previous repair which I am the original owner and have never had electrical work done on the vehicle. They are trying to charge me $1700 for a wire harness and refusing to do the safety recall
My rear passenger brake hose has ruptured, car is not drivable, Ford will not fix it, they said the part is available but they cannot fix it yet. Its FORDS problem, the recall is there posted, my hose has failed, and I cant even the car to the dealer to get it fixed. They will not tow it or pay to fix it. I understand that the recall is in advanced notice, but the problem has already happened to me. I cannot afford to pay $600 plus towing fees to get it to the ford dealer to fix it.

The car has only 82,273 miles on it. We experienced rough idling and took it to a mechanic. They found that the #2 cylinder was cracked and leaking coolant into the cylinder. They also stated that this is a known manufactured defect, but there is no recall by Ford. They gave an estimate of $9000 to get a new modified engine. We took it to another mechanic for a second opinion and he confirmed the crack and charged us $5000 for the new modified engine.
Saw there was a recall for wiper motor defects for Ford Explorer and Escape, per NHTSA Campaign Number 26V117. We had intermittent wiper failure with our 2016 Ford Edge Sport years back, which resulted in Ford repurchasing the vehicle back through the BBB (back in 2019). If carry-over parts / design are similar between the Explorer/Escape & Edge, then you may want to investigate incase the scope of this recall needs to be expanded. Please give me a call if you have any questions. (I'd like to stay anonymous as I am a Ford employee) I think we still have videos of this that we can share too.
Head gasket has blown. No reason for it to. Car has just At 100,000 miles.

SYMPTOMS IS THE COOLANT DISAPPEARS RAPIDLY AND THE ENGINE OVERHEATS AFTER DRIVING FIVE MILES. ALARMS GO OFF. THE TEMPERATURE GAGE IN THE VEHICLE IS AT ITS MAX. IN STARTING THE VEHICLE, THERE IS WHITE SMOKE. THERE IS CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS. I HAVE LESS THAN 100,000 MILES ON MY VEHICLE. IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE, AND IS NOT DRIVEABLE. I HAD A MECHANIC LOOK AT IT AND FOUND EVIDENCE OF COOLANT INSIDE THE CYLINDER. MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN PARKED FOR 2 YEARS WAITING FOR RESOLUTION. THE INFORMATION I HAVE RECEIVED FROM FORD IS THE ONLY WAY THEY WOULD FIX IT IS IF I HAD A MAINTENANCE AGREEMENT. THE COST ACCORDING TO MY MECHANIC IS TO REPLACE THE LONG BLOCK OR REPLACE THE ENGINE RANGES BETWEEN $4000 AND $10,000.
My rear camera on my car is not working and a recall was issued in September under NHTSA Recall Number25V572. My car camera is completely broken and Ford has provided no alternative solutions, nor a timeline on when this can be addressed. As this has been a problem for over 6 months, I do not feel that this is a "reasonable time" for repair as designated by your agency. I have asked Ford for alternatives, which they refuse to provide.

The vehicle developed a rattle at idle and noise from the transmission bell housing area. Lafayette Ford in North Carolina has confirmed the issue is caused by a cracked flexplate, which is a known defect covered under Ford Customer Satisfaction Program 22N12.
I got the recall notice last September 2005 and until now, there's no fix in sight. Ford hasn't contacted us or any notice. It been a while since I'm not confidently using my car due to those recalls. Can this be expedited? It's almost 7 mos without any progress. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN!
Rear differential failed, multiple complaints with this vehicle online but no recall yet?

I received a safety recall notice in September 2025 regarding my vehicle's rear flexible brake hose possibly having a leak. At that time the notice stated parts were not available but the Ford Company was working to provide parts for the repair and would notify me by mail to schedule an appointment to complete the repairs. I have called on several occasions, to several Ford dealerships, since September 2025 to follow up on this safety issue and schedule a repair only to be told there are still no parts available. A leaking rear flexible break hose causes a huge safety concern and should be addressed in a more timely manner by the car company. It is now six months with no resolve. This type of fix does not entail creative engineering, it simply involves replacing a common car part. I believe this delay in repair has become negligent and needs to be documented for when there is a poor outcome due to delayed braking.
Transmission shuddering at low speeds. Losing acceleration getting on to highway. Hard shifting and slippage.

Rearview camera has been faulty for years and there is still not a fix. I have almost hit people reversing bc of this issue. I will be backing up and the camera is fine and then all of the sudden it messes up with lines and weird colors in the middle of backing up. This is dangerous and hazardous.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while reversing, the rear-view camera displayed an image with all lines. Car kept misfiring and it sounded like water was running when the car was on. After multiple attempts to find a solution I took it to a Ford dealership to remedy the issue and it ended up needing a full engine replacement due to coolant leaking into the engine. The engine failed, they told me there was no way to prevent it because the seals were not fully sealing. Thankfully it did not cause for me but could have caused sudden loss of power, stalled acceleration on highways, failure of power steering and braking systems. The dealership acknowledged that it was an ongoing issue when they serviced it. Unknown. Not that I ever noticed however someone with more car knowledge MAY have been able to see warning signs.
My vehicle is having an internal coolant leak inside the engine, which is a known issue with this 2.0 eco-boost. Symptoms are: •misfire on cylinder two about once a week •low coolant, and eventually hearing the waterfall sound from air in the coolant system •rough idle during 1st start of the day occasionally •white exhaust first start of the day occasionally
Coolant leak with coolant intrusion into cylinder 2. This problem was reproduced by the dealer and we had to have a new engine installed.
There has been safety recall for six months with no updates or fix. The fix is simple but they are not implementing it. It is causing issues for me.

NHTSA publishes every complaint as the owner wrote it and investigates only a fraction. Spelling, capitalisation and judgement are the filer’s own. What carries weight is repetition: the same component failing the same way across many filings, and whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.
