2014 Ford Edge complaints

I own a 2014 Ford Edge, when pressing on the brake pedal, it goes all the way to the floor and have to pump the brakes to make sure I don't hit the car a head of me. 5 minutes later it is back to normal. Or when stopped at a red light the brake pedal will all of a sudden go down to the floor. And now when I brake I get a high pitched wind squealing noise. Also the back driver side passenger door will have a door ajar warning on the dash and that comes and goes and could be dangerous for any passenger sitting in that seat.

After a hard braking because of a person in a cross walk. The brake peddle went almost to the floor. Had a mechanic check and he said the brake fluid was full of bubbles so he change the fluid and the brakes were OK so he tested the brakes with a sudden stop and the brakes now go to the floor again.

Back up camera is not working properly. This started 1st of the year when it doesn't come on while in reverse. It's been on again off again for months. I should have reported sooner but was hoping it would resolve when following guidelines from the of owners manual. No messages or other symptoms that I'm aware of or appear and it's happening more often. There has been no inspection done. No incidents but definitely not safe to use. When camera does work it blanks out and goes black and message appears call dealership while backing up. Only other issue that I seen reported was our brakes screeching while backing up also. We need to get resolved ASAP.

Our backup camera isn't working properly. It sometimes works in reverse and also sometimes comes in while in drive. Most of time it doesn't work. It has not been taken to dealership to be looked at. It's been about a month now. Saw recently about recall on some cameras.

My car is in need of a new water pump. This is a known repair needed in Ford V6 3.5 & 3.7-liter engines 2012-19 Explorer, Taurus, Edge & more. The water pump is placed in the engine so that a simple 1 hr. repair takes 10-12 hrs of labor costing customers thousands of dollars. There is no reason for this to not be on the recall list!!!!! This is confirmed by Ford dealers. There is no warning that comes up until the part has already failed, also causing other parts of the engine to be repaired.

The rear differential has failed. It started to fail at 80,000 miles. The car now has a little over 91,000 miles. It makes a whining/grinding noise at over 30 miles per hour. It was subtle at first but has become much louder recently. If this had failed completely while on the highway going 55 MPH or higher, this could have resulted in complete loss of control of the vehicle. Additionally, oil or parts could have been left on the highway becoming a hazard for other drivers. The local mechanic confirmed that this is the part that needs replacing. There were no warning lights or messages at all. This is a major part of the drivetrain and there are many people on the Internet complaining about premature failure of the differential on the Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX. I am surprised there has not been a recall on this already. Please look into it.

AUG. 2023 Mileage 89,000 - 2014 Ford Edge SEL FWD - Program 13N02 eligible??? MOST CRITICAL ISSUE: While driving in highway commuter traffic, traffic came to abrupt stop going 65 miles an hour; I depressed brakes almost completely to the floor but car would not stop. Was able to get pulled onto shoulder and get stopped. I sat and slowly pumped the brakes and the pressure on the brakes finally returned. I'm told brake cylinder replacement ONLY will not solve the issue. There aren't any warning lights, brake fluid is normal level, brake pads and rotors in good shape. So there is no reasonable explanation for what happened other than Ford sold me car with faulty brakes. I see no recalls after 2010. Ford needs to replace my brake booster, Master Cylinder and the HCU at Ford expense. Brake pedal and noise while braking - screeching sounds. I took it to a local dealer for analysis, they pressed on the brake several times, and replicated the squeal. Was told it was the brake booster, that there had been issues with it in several of the Ford models. FORD needs to also replace Master Cylinder and the HCU to ensure this doesn't happen again. I thought I was going to die on the freeway when brakes pressed to floorboard would not stop the car. While driving 50-55 MPH the car shuts down. Able to glide, stir/turn the car over to shoulder and put in park. Flashes SEE MANUAL and a wrench shows. Restart the car and drive. Has done this several times, laps from 2 weeks to 2 months, for last 7 months. Two service stations checked and said they can't find anything. Took car to Ford dealership and also say can't find anything wrong. I am 75yrs women and this is dangerous to be on the road!

I bought this vehicle brand now. The Edge only has 69k miles on it and I have replaced the front and back brakes (rotors, pads, calibers) 3 times (yes...3 times). I also had to recently (in 2023) replace the muffler, left and right outer tierods, left and right front wheel bearings and hubs. NOW: April 2023: my front brakes are pulsating and I brought the vehicle back to my mechanic for a complete vehicle check overall which the mechanic documented: Power steering return line is rotted (cost $175). A/C condenser is leaking and needs to be replaced/recharged (cost $1050). Driveshaft issue/vibration @ 50 mph: need to remove the rear driveshaft and inspect: if needs to be replaced: $4500. Replace Front and Read brake pads/rotors/calibers ($1600)...which would be #4 for replacement. Replacement of right rear parking brake cable ($205). ***I previously wrote a complaint several years ago (for the same VIN#)...this is just an update and I am requesting FORD to review and demand a recall. The 2014 Edge has been a money pit for me and it only has 69k in mileage. If there was a way I could seek reimbursement I would. I will never buy a FORD again.

Pulled out of a parking lot onto a busy street locally, car lost power and the orange wrench light came on. Would not go, all the car did was jerk and sputter. Engine did not shut off but would only coast/roll into the middle lane and managed to coast/roll into another business parking lot next door to where I pulled out from and once parked, I turned ignition off and back on. Wrench light went out and car started. No codes were apparently shown when hooked up to the machine at the car lot the next day (wrench light was still off) this is very scary and very dangerous whatever it is, it needs investigated and fixed so us Ford edge drivers can feel safe when driving. Also 1 week before this my check engine light came on, same code 3 times came up for eval, emissions ECT... Now no codes are showing since the wrench light came on Sunday and my car stopped moving.

I purchased my 2014 Ford Edge SEL ON JANUARY 2015. I have electrical problems suspicion problems & recall on my Airbags! I have always taken it to a Ford Dealership to have my regular service done…oil charge etc. it those times I have told them the other problems I was having example electrical problem started a month after I bought my vehicle every time they told me nothing is wrong or they replace the battery I have had 4 batteries replaced by Ford Dealerships. I also had recall on my airbags the dealership told me numerous times you do not need to worry about your vehicle it is fine!! After my 100, 000 Mile Warranty ran out I had my vehicle serviced by a mechanic shop. They could the electrical issue was in headlights & dashboard had them replace headlights & lights in dashboard. On 3/19/2023 I was in a bad vehicle accident involved 9 vehicles I was the 5 vehicle. I have neck back & leg injuries. My AIRBAGS NEVER went off! If the Airbags would of worked properly have would not of gotten all my injuries. My Police Officers & Paramedics explained that to me at scene of the accident. Why did Ford not do or repair my airbag recall instead of telling meh car was not recalled even when I received service notification in the mail to get the Airbags fixed

I have a screen in my car that connects with my rear view camera that shows me where I'm going when backing up and alerts me when objects are near. My rear view camera is malfunctioning where the screen is black without an image of what's behind me and no notification of nearby objects when backing. This issue has not been reviewed by a mechanic or anyone else. However, this is a safety risk not only due to being unable to see low-lying objects on the ground or directly behind my vehicle when backing and then not notifying me of nearby objects to avoid a collision or running over a pedestrian, small child or animal. I am aware that I am able to turn around and back up while facing backwards, but I have paid for a vehicle that has a backup camera and would like to use it; this also does not negate the fact that low-lying objects and small beings would still be invisible to the eye in that manner. A message in yellow just popped up on my screen recently that reads "Camera is unavailable. Please contact your dealership." I have taken a picture of this dysfunction while also showing my car in reverse in the picture to show the problem. I recently saw a recall on what I believe were some ford trucks that had this same issue. I simply would like to have this function restored for the safety of me and my children as well as the public.

Fuel pump fails without warning causing vehicle to stall in intersection of busy roadway. With some research and assistance from my local Ford dealership, we found a recall in the past for this exact issue effecting my year make and model. Not sure why I was not made aware of this until I almost caused an accident. I want this on record that I reported the issue. Recall # 14S30

I am wanting to file a complaint about the safety of my 2014 ford edge. My brakes are very hard to push and get stopped. Even after I am stopped and have my foot on the brake my car still wants to move. I have also experienced where the brake pedal goes to the floor and then the pressure has to build back up before they will work correctly. I have done some searching about this problem and have found that the brake booster goes bad often. I have also found that replacing just the booster does not usually permanently fix the problem. It says that the hydraulic control unit and the brake master cylinder need to be replaced also. How is this not a safety issue and a recall been issued? This is around a $2000.00 fix from what I have read about.

Back up camera works intermittently. Was told by the dealer the parts for the camera were on back order and it could be up to a year before they get them in!!!! Also if the car sits for 2 to 3 days the battery is dead and it has to be jump started. Battery tested at 100%. Everything is off when I get out of the car but something is draining the battery!!!

Seat belt will not stay, buckled. This is a manufacturing defect and could cause bodily harm if Ford doesn't correct. I contacted Ford and they weren't concerned about this issue. Case # : CASI41262353

COOLANT LEAKING INTO ENGINE FROM FAULTY WATER PUMP CAUSING ENGINE FAILURE.

Multiple time the brake pedal has gone to the floor. Pumping them will provide minimal braking power. Took to a Ford dealer ship and they claim the brakes are fine. Charged $160. The brake pedal still goes to the floor periodically.

The backup camera on the car works intermittently switching between blue screens and component not available. This causes a safety risk as I back up. A specific scenario that occured where I had to back out of my garage during Halloween with kids running about the neighborhood. The backup camera screen turned blue requiring me to backup using only the side mirrors hoping someone was not behind the vehicle.

Damaged antifreeze pump this can cause a very severe overheating on the road, transfer box and transmission make a very uncomfortable noise when turning to both sides I don't feel safe when handling rear differential the same problem (I've already replaced it)

My defrost system on my 2014 Ford Edge does not work properly. I have researched it and it is a common issue with this model. All my windows from front to back fog/ice up to the point of needing to be scrapped from the inside. My passengers scrap just so I can have a peephole to see out. I have talked to dealers and they offer suggestions, none that have helped and the fix is expensive. My passengers are usually my 92 year old mom and my young grandkids that spend their time scrapping. No matter what I do with the Ford system nothing works. I have tried things found online about this safety issue but to no avail. I open the back windows and it helps a little bit but freezes people out. I hope I and all the other 2014 Edge owners can get some help with this issue. I have reached out to Ford and they refuse to offer help with this safety concern. I hope this helps. I do have pictures and video of this issue. I uploaded some photos. I do have photos of my dashboard showing temperatures and settings and nothing helping. I also have video. I wish I had documented this from the 1st winter I had the car. It is winter now and I know I will continue to document. I just want myself and my passengers to be safe and being on a fixed income I cannot afford to pay for a Ford issue. I want to be able to see my granddaughters but I don't feel it's safe in the winter to have them in my car. I hope you can help me and the other 2014 Ford Edge owners out there.

The Hydraulic Control on the braking system went out. The total cost of repair is $1828. The garage I took it to says he has had several come in with the same problem. Ford Motor Company did a recall in 2019 on three of their models from 2006-2010 because of a defect in the same part. I believe the Ford Edge needs to be recalled for the same reason.

Upon stopping at intersection I began to accelerate to proceed through intersection and no warning light on dash came on as my vehicle wouldn’t go into drive. It barely rolled through and off to shoulder. When I tried to shift into park it wasn’t engaging or something, it just wouldn’t do anything so I lulled the engine and used emergency brake. This could have been a very big tragedy at this or any similar situation.

2014 Ford Edge was purchased in 5/2015 with 6k miles on it. It was a leftover from 2014. There have been constant brake pulsating issues (details below) from the day it was purchased. Rotors have been cut down or replaced every year since the car was purchased. New brake pads have also been required just about every year. The HCU was replaced in 6/2021, which the Ford Dealership admitted was an issue they were seeing with many models however there was no recall ever done. The most recent is an issue with the Brake Booster, which has been confirmed by the dealership. The car is currently at the Ford Dealership. When applying the brakes, the pedal is spongy, and a pulsating is felt in the pedal. This is felt at all speeds but becomes a safety issue at speeds over 30. Braking becomes very hard, and this causes the rotors to heat up and could potentially cause a fatality. Ford recalled 2010-2013 models back in 2014 but only for certain VIN numbers. However, there are customer complaints dating back to 2007. The braking systems on 2007-2014 Ford Edges need to be looked into or there could loss of life.

99800 miles on vehicle. Brake pedal went to the floor on 10/27/2022. Serviced at Dealership Sept. 2022. At dealership, confirmed that Hydraulic Control Unit was bad. Had another vehicle in repair with same problem. Recall issued on this issue but didn't cover my vehicle. No advance warning on screen. Internet list many complaints by Edge owners, especially 2011 and 2013. This should be a recall problem and not cost the $1759 that I will have to pay out of pocket.

My 2014 Edge has the same issue that is getting solved by The NHTSA recall number, 22S43. The vehicle is not going into park.

After turning the engine off and restarting the vehicle, the failure would self-correct and the vehicle would operate as normal. This has happened twice on my 2014 Ford Edge. Vehicle goes into limp mode without warning. Did not catch the message, was too busy trying not to get hit. No error codes found. 1. Brakes failed, vehicle available upon request. 2. I avoided hitting the car in front of me and i was ok but I put myself and others at great risk driving my car as the brakes continue to fail intermittently. 3. Problem was reproduced. 4. I paid for 2 diagnosis and they are as follows; a) replace brake booster and master cylinder b) ABS module, this mechanic told me he replaced the booster and master in a 2013 Edge to no avail and has now been waiting 2 months on the ABS module, driver has no vehicle. He also has 1 other 2013 Edge with the same problem. 5. There was no warning indicators.

I was driving my Ford Edge at approximately 35 mph. As I approached a stoplight, I depressed the brake pedal and it immediately went all the way to the floor with almost no braking action. I was able to get some braking by pumping the brakes continually, avoiding an accident at the light. As a local Pep Boys store had replaced the brake pads about 5 weeks earlier, I chose to slowly and carefully drive the car to their location. The brakes continued to require pumping for any braking action. At Pep Boys, I turned off the vehicle and went inside. They phoned me a few hours later to say that they found that the brakes worked fine. They found no fluid leaks, the master cylinder was full, and they could not duplicate any problem. I did a little research on the internet and found two reports of similar incidents at https://www.vehiclehistory.com/articles/ford-edge-master-cylinder-recalls-a-deeper-dive. The two excerpts read: "Brake Pedals Travel to the Floor "One Ford Edge owner reported that the vehicle suddenly lost braking power. The brake pedal pushed all the way to the floor, and they nearly were involved in a collision. After stopping the vehicle and turning it back on, the brakes began to work normally. "In another consumer complaint, the same issue happened. An independent repair shop reinstalled the master cylinder and manually bled the brake lines to fix the issue." I made an appointment with All American Ford in Old Bridge, NJ and dropped my car there on August 16, 2022.

Driver power seat tilts backward suddenly when accelerating or backing causing driver to lose control of the vehicle.

The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the high velocity fuel pump needed to be replaced. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle could not be repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V005000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) as the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

2014 Edge, The Vehicle won't stop on time, Brake pedal becomes very hard to press and vehicle will continue to roll out into the street. I've heard a beep at 3 different times, brake pedal will then go to the floor, but continues to roll, My child my family is in grave dander while in vehicle. It started with something with the battery saver no dash lights respond to the key turning on of had keys programmed I’ll change the ECU I change the main harness the dash harness the engine harness all from Ford ignition switch steering column module BCM I don’t know I don’t understand I need to get this issue fixed it’s almost been seven months no vehicle I’m still paying a $450 note on it and I can’t get back to work without a vehicle Something got to shake I got no money bring it to no dealer. I’ve changed to batteries since the incidence just because to try it nothings worked if anybody knows any info don’t hesitate to contact me
