While driving the car approaching a stop the brake pedal suddenly went almost all the way to the floor. It stayed that way for the next couple of days before going back to a fully functioning brake pedal. Months later it happened again this time without repairing itself. We took it to a local mechanic as well as the local Ford dealership twice. Their computer did not detect anything wrong and yet when the service rep tried the brakes they went clear to the floor! So we had them update the computer software in the car since we never had any warning lights about this issue. The local mechanic as well as the Ford dealership suspect it is the HCU unit within the ABS system. The problem is there are no replacement parts available to remedy the problem. We have read many similar complaints online. We believe Ford should fix this issue.

I purchased this vehicle used in August 2025 from the estate of a friend's relative. The records show it was meticulously maintained and no recall notices have been unaddressed. The prior owner used it infrequently and it still has just under 90k miles. There were no major engine issues when my local repair shop (over 12 years and 3 vehicles) inspected all systems, and the vehicle passed for PA state inspection and emissions. However, driving more, I noticed that the brakes would intermittently become "mushy" or "hard" and overall less responsive. I needed to use a lot of force to fully stop over a longer distance. There was also a hissing noise while braking and sometimes the cabin air fan would blast on suddenly. Then, while stopped at a red light and applying the brakes, the engine shut off and check engine light came on. My mechanic detected O2 sensor codes P2195/P2197 indicating "stuck lean." But nothing about the brake booster, and so we cleaned it up a bit and tried to get more of an understanding of the issue. Now I know that the compromised engine vacuum from the booster air leak is impacting the fuel/air balance. Extremely unsafe. This has now happened MANY times while I try to get a good diagnosis and help. It's scary, and makes city driving very challenging. On multiple occasions I feared I would hit other vehicles or would have to "creep" at a light to alleviate the airflow issues from braking. If I have to be at a light for more than a moment, I will put the car

The backup camera rarely works. It either has a black screen, an upside-down image or the image has lines through it. This puts me, my passengers and pedestrians in danger while trying to reverse out of parking spaces. There is a recall for newer Ford Edges but not for a 2013 so Ford is aware of the issue. I also previously owned a different 2013 Ford Edge and it had the same problems.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with a failed rear-view camera system. The contact was informed that the rear-view camera system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact referenced an unknown recall; however, the VIN was not under recall. The contact owns another Ford vehicle that experienced a similar failure, and the vehicle was included in the recall. The contact was informed by the independent mechanic to wait for a recall notification for the vehicle. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

I have been having issues with headlights on my vehicle for awhile. We have changed the bulbs several times to try to make it easier to see. The headlights barely light up the street in front of you and is very dangerous to drive like this. I looked up online and apparently I am not the only one that is complaining of the issue. This is extremely unsafe and I'm afraid to drive anywhere at night due to poor lighting. I see people changed bulbs and changed entire headlights costing $300.00 or more a light and the problem is still not resolved. I am very concerned for not only myself and my familie's safety, I am concerned for others safety too. Something needs to be corrected in these vehicles. It is an extremely important part of driving - being able to see in front of you. Please advise.

My backup camera continues to not work and says I need to contact the dealership. When I contact the place that I got it from it says it's not covered under their warranty in the contact Ford. When I contact Ford they said there was some rear backup camera thing going on and that the recall had not been issued yet? Also I've been having issues with it connecting to any kind of device, it will say connecting phone and load and load and load and never connect or the phone will be connected and say it's not connected so calls and stuff won't come through and when calls you come through it switches to aux and then you can't hear the person who's speaking which I find dangerous because then you have to touch your phone while driving. Another issue that I'm having is when I fill up my tank it is saying for example if I put $40 in and it's the same price it was the day before and I have to fill up my tank I would get different readings so sometimes I might get like 370 in other days I might get like 205 which makes it difficult to really gauge how much gas you have. Have had multiple times where I've had to completely reset the infotainment system because it does not work and you can't push any buttons on it including the buttons that are below that infotainment system that control tuning seeking and temperatures of the car and do you think that there's some electrical problems somewhere that could be causing all of these issues.

The rear view camera displays either a blank, distorted, or upside down image. This issue is identical to the recall notice 25V572, for a 2016 Ford Edge, which we also own. My son received his drivers license three months ago. While he realizes he must turn and look, the back up camera is an invaluable tool to prevent backing accidents. We have shown a dealer previously and were quoted a price that is too expensive for us to repair. The camera system was looked at by a service advisor. Ironically, the advisor remarked that this is a common issue with 2013 Edges. There is a caution triangle that periodically appears that reads back up camera is disabled, or something to that effect.

The driver side passenger "door ajar" sensor stays on constantly and is unsafe because we aren't sure if the door is truly open or not? We are scared to have passengers sit on that side of the vehicle for fear of the door flying open and causing injury by falling out or other injury because the sensor does not tell us accurately as to whether the door is truly closed all the way or not. It also drains the battery over time due to constantly being on. This problem has been going on for 2 years. We had it looked at by a mechanic. We were told they can replace the sensor, but it would likely go out again because this is a manufacturer defect, and a well known problem for Ford Edges as well as other Ford models, but they refuse to issue a recall. This is EXTREMELY UNSAFE. The other safety concern I have is the need for a recall on our VIN SPECIFIC rear view camera. The screen went blank and then, when it came back on, the image is flipped upside down and has vertical lines across the screen making it extremely difficult to see. This is a crucial component to safety. This happened approximately 1 year ago. This is EXTREMELY UNSAFE as we can back over and KILL someone if we don't go super slow and intensely observe the camera while in reverse. This is even more dangerous in poorly lit places. There were no warnings or sensors indicating a problem with the camera. It just went blank and then PERMANENTLY flipped the image upside down.

The backup camera is sometimes upside down, flashes, or won't come on at all. Various things other than functioning properly. I've completed the Sync update and that didn't resolve the issue. This started happening around the same time newer Ford models were showing the exact same issues.

The rearview camera does not function properly. Most of the time, it shows a blank screen or nothing at all. Sometimes it tells me to contact the dealership. Other times, it shows the camera view but upside down. It puts myself and others at risk because I can't see clearly when I am backing up. The problem is covered by a known recall. However, my vehicle is not covered by the recall.

The 2013 Ford Edge began giving trouble after sitting at an intersection or pulling out of the driveway to enter major traffic. The vehicle would hesitate to accelerate as though it is running out of gas but it isn't out of gas. When you continue pressing on the accelerator it would jerk then accelerate. We barely escaped being hit from the rear because the vehicle died while pulling out onto the feeder, whereupon I struggled to pull into a nearby gas station. The brake pedal is generally stiff but can be depressed, however, in other instances, when braking the brake pedal sometimes becomes hard to depress but becomes easier after the car is driving for a long stretch, such as the freeway. When you start the car the panel is normal but as you begin driving the Check Brake System failure light begins to appear in Red and the ABS light and the oil light. Similar incidents as the previously mentioned situations have happened on numerous occasions.

A few years ago, I brought my Edge into a dealership in Shawnee Mission, KS (Shawnee Mission Ford) for the rearview camera malfunctioning. What occurs is, once I put the car in reverse, the camera will, sometimes come on, once I begin backing out, the camera will shut off and a message will appear. On some occasions, the camera will operate, but 9 times out of 10 it will always go black with a pop up message. I want my vehicle to be included in the recall if the backup camera is the issue please.

Since the day I bought my 2013 Edge I have had nothing but problems ranging from Backup Camera always has a distorted image, appears upside down or it will just be blank. For the last year I have had my car looked at, changed everything that could possibly be changed to now my car can be going down the road running 55-60 MPH and the car will just shut down and flash random warnings on the dash but the scariest & most unsafe part is how the steering wheel locks up or I lose power steering making it hard to move or coast off the road to safety. At this point I don't know what else to do. Questions below are asking for dates but unfortunately there are so many dates that my car does this as it happens almost daily so I will put date for the last day I drove it. Right now it has been sitting at a mechanic's place for the last 3.5 weeks.

The backup camera stopped working consistently in June 2025. Safety recall has been issued for 2015 vehicles and newer, but not for 2013 and 2014 years. Ford dealer said the camera needs to be replaced for $740, but numerous online comments show other Ford owners with the same issue starting at the same time. I believe this is a software issue, and would like 2013 Ford Edge to be added to safety recall.

The rearview camera has not been working correctly for now over 8 years or more. The rearview camera issue causes a blank or distorted image on the center display. It is now displaying the image upside down as well. There are currently other Ford vehicle vehicles that are being recalled for this issue. I wanna know why our vehicle is not included in this. It is a 2013 Ford edge which I have talked to other people that own the same year have the same issues. I am unable to use the camera as it’s upside down and when it’s not upside down, it’s flashing off and on. It’s hazardous and this should fall under the recall as well. It is my rear view camera. I would put the vehicle in reverse and it will sometimes start to work and than it will shut off and a message comes across saying I need to contact dealership. The brake pedal became stiff. The pedal would depress and eventually stop the car but then occasionally more play would be in the pedal. When the vehicle stopped the pedal would depress further and additional pressure would have to be applied to get the vehicle to stop completely. A service campaign bulletin was issued for my other vehicle ( Feb 20, 2024- Reference Number 13N02), same model, same year for a brake booster replacement, yet no service campaign was issued for this vehicle. My vehicle would not stop completely consistently without stomping on the pedal.
