There are some models of 2013 Ford Edges that they did repair under their CSP program. We purchased a 2013 Ford Edge less than a year ago. Brakes went out. The pedal goes all the way down to floor and makes a hissing sound. I researched online and this is the case for hundreds of 2013 Ford Edge owners. Please look this up on carcomplaints.com This is a life or death safety issue. Our vehicle rolled through a stop sign because the brakes didn't stop us. I'm so worried that I can't have my children ride in this vehicle with me. There was a 13N02 for 2013 Ford Edges replacing the brake booster but not all 2013 ones. My wasn't included. There were no warning lights prior to brakes giving out and they are now so bad. They brake pedal is so low to the floor. I have an appointment on the 6th. They said that this is a known issues with Ford Edges but no recalls have been issued by Ford. Please Talk to Ford so they can issue a recall. There are hundreds of people online with this same problem. Brakes are the scariest issue to have with a car. I don't want hurt/killed.

I have been having issues with the backup camera on this model. I replaced the camera and still having issues. A warning message is displayed and says contact dealer. I've recently noticed a recall on newer model fords and wonder why there wasn't a recall on the later models since there is the same issue with the newer models.

Engine
Filed Apr 7, 2022CA

2013 Ford Edge "Water pump" The Water pump is driven off the timing chain. When the water pump fails it either leaks into the engine on early models or it throws the timing out. The dealer wants $2500.00 to replace the water pump because of all the labor too get to the pump inside of engine. You have to pull the timing chain cover. Remove most of the engine to get to it. When the timing is knocked off from the pump, Valves hit pistons. Now you have to pull heads and replace bent valves. Duel overhead cams. If the pump leaks coolant into engine, Game over! Milk shake! The engine bearings are gone. New Engine! This is without a doubt the worst designed engine out there. They could have made the pump to be driven from the outside of the timing cover from the serpentine belt. It has two belts! This is an engineering cluster f**k! Good Luck!

The brake booster failed, just as is outlined in Ford's Customer Satisfaction Program #13N02, NHTSA #10054925. Ford claims my vehicle was built outside of the dates covered in the CSP and therefore, does not qualify for the warranty extension of the CSP. The booster failure I experienced is identical to that described in the CSP, so it seems obvious that there are more vehicles affected than Ford claims.

The afternoon of Friday, March 25, 2022 I was driving over Balcom Canyon and my brake pedal went all the way to the floor with no response! In my almost 30 years of driving I have NEVER experienced something so terrifying! I literally could've died (or caused a collision with another person, endangering everyone involved). I immediately took my car (2013 Ford Edge Limited) to the dealership where I purchased the vehicle (Valencia). They tell me it's the HCU (Hydraulic Control Unit) and will cost me $2,000 to replace! This is an OBVIOUS safety issue and a matter of life or death. Upon doing more research, I have discovered that this is an ongoing issue with Ford vehicles and I feel it is UNACCEPTABLE to allow people to be put in these types of situations KNOWING of this defect! And to not recall/repair the issue?! Shame on Ford! Something needs to be done. They are putting everyone's lives and safety at risk! I purchased my car new on Labor Day 2013 so I've had it 8.5 years BUT it only has 42,000 miles on it! And it is very well-maintained and in immaculate condition. There were no warning lights or sounds or anything. Just no brakes. On a CANYON road! I feel this is absolutely unacceptable and now I am not even comfortable driving my own car anymore! I was already a bit of an "anxious" driver but now I'm totally traumatized and feel I can't trust my own car's braking system?! Just crazy! Please do something about this NOW

The brake booster and master cylinder failed on my 2013 Ford Edge, which required extreme applications of pressure to the brake pedal to bring the car to a complete stop (the brake pedal would either sink to floor when being depressed or become extremely stiff when attempting to stop). This has been a serious safety risk, as excessive force has been required under normal circumstances to bring the vehicle to a complete stop. Independent mechanics were required to replace both the brake booster and master cylinder to resolve the issues.

Traction control. Stabiltrak, and ABS system all randomly failed at 69,000 miles. They were intermittently going in and out for two days now come on every time. The car does not even have 100,000 miles. I have replaced the transmission and have countless electrical issues. The blend door actuators are all faulty. Known common issue that will cost a thousand to fix. Master brake cylinder has been replaced and still having faulty petal issues that is no longer covered. The panoramic roof does not work and it is a known issue almost every edge has. And now sever safety issues with the ABS system and traction control. There is no excuse for this poor manufacturing and no recalls to fix them. There were absolutely zero warning signs or check engine lights that came on prior to any of these systems happening. The transmission never through a code at all until after it locked up. The ABS system went out while driving down the road on a rainy day causing me to loose control and luckily I was able to get it into the ditch instead of into oncoming traffic. It put my life and my friends lives in danger. Ford should be sued for this and made to recall every single edge or other vehicle with these components. I have no fixed the issue yet because I wanted to submit this issue to the NHTSA and have it available to be inspected if they wanted. This vehicle is extremely unsafe and has had issues non stop. In June 2021 my brake pedal was going to the floor. There was no brake fluid leaking. I took it for diagnostics and was informed (1) the master cylinder needed to be replaced. While it was in the shop they said they had to replace the (2) master cylinder again because the one they received was defective. (3)Then in December after driving approx 2500 mi the pedal went to the floor again. I drove the vehicle (scared out of my mind) 15 miles back to Goodyear. I parked in their open lot instead of pulling up to the front because I was afraid I'd run into the parking curb. I got a call from Goodyear that they were unable to duplicate the problem! It was constant when I was driving to their shop and when I parked it. If they had come out and driven it when I got there they would have definitely confirmed there was NO brake pedal! The Brakes on my 2013 Ford Edge failed resulting in an accident with my 17 year old son on 1-11-22. The pedal was pressed all the way down, and only the emergency break stopped the vehicle. When pressing it brake, it was as if there were no brakes whatsoever. We had a total brake job done on 8-6-2021. on 9-19-21 the car would hardly come to a complete stop, same issue that my son encountered. The pedal would go all the way down and the pedal would hiss during this time. We had the brake booster replaced. So in a span of 1 month and an half we spent $1,600.25 only for the issue to occur again to put my sons life and others at Risk. I have been doing some research and this is a common issue with this particular vehicle. Ford did do an partial recall of this apparently, but our vehicle was not part of this. There are many instances of the Ford Edge having this exact same problem that Ford does not seem to want to address. This car is unsafe. We will be selling this back to the dealership as we are not comfortable to drive it. There are many parts to the brake system that can cause this from the Power Booster, the ABS injector and the Master Brake Cylinder. There are many instances where this is a very intermittent problem. The issue occurs, and then the mechanics can't find anything wrong. there are hundreds of testimonies online for this vehicle and the issues that it has.

While travelling at around 50 MPH, I had to quickly apply the brake pedal due to oncoming stopped traffic. The brake pedal went to the floor and vehicle would not slow down. My 2013 Ford Edge had 44,882 miles on it. With no warning or lights, car was difficult to stop. Hissing noise when brakes applied. Very scary! Took it to Ford dealership. They charged me $167 to diagnose the problem as power brake booster, and said it would take 3-4 weeks to get the part. Ford knows there’s a problem (N102) and supposedly it’s covered for 10 years or 150,000 miles, but I was told that mine would NOT be covered. I took it to an independent repaIr shop. They were able to get the part in three days. It cost me $993.28 to have it repaired. VERY DISAPPOINTED with Ford!! This is a SAFETY ISSUE!, Thank God I wasn’t on a highway when it happened! After the incident I pulled to the shoulder and noticed that the brake pedal continue to sink to the floor with little to no resistance even after placing in park, shutting down and restarting the vehicle. This condition still persists after break bleeding and checking the entire brake system, my safety was in jeopardy due to the fact that I had limited braking ability and the pedal continue to sink to the floor with no resistance.
