Tires › Valve22V121000
Filed Mar 3, 20222,643 vehiclesJayco, Inc.

Defect. Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling certain 2019-2022 Seneca, Seneca Prestige, Entegra Accolade and Accolade XL motorhomes. The tire valve stem extension for the inner wheel may come into contact with the outer wheel rim opening and become damaged.

Risk. Damage to the valve stem extension may result in a loss of tire pressure of the inner wheel, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy. Daimler Trucks North America, LLC will remove the inner valve stem extension and stabilizer, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 28, 2022. Owners may contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-283-8267. Jayco's number for this recall is FL912 21V-921.

Visibility › Glass, Side/Rear20V337000
Filed Jun 9, 2020449 vehiclesJayco, Inc.

Defect. Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling certain 2020 Motorized Alante, Greyhawk, Melbourne, Precept, Redhawk, Seneca, Accolade, Emblem, Esteem, Odyssey, Qwest, and Vision recreational vehicles. The adhesive bond between the glass and the metal hinge frame of the frameless crank out vent and egress windows may fail which would then allow the glass to detach and fall out.

Risk. If the window glass detaches while the vehicle is moving it could become a projectile, increasing the risk of injury or a crash.

Remedy. Jayco will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the frameless windows for proper adhesive bond strength, replacing the windows as necessary, free of charge. This recall began June 15, 2020. Owners may contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-517-9137. Jayco's number for this recall is 9901508.

The contact owns a 2020 Freightliner M2. The contact stated that while driving approximately 10 - 15 MPH and pulling out of the parking lot, the rear passenger’s side window above the kitchen sink started detaching from the vehicle. While driving approximately 60 MPH, the window detached from the vehicle. The contact became aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V337000 (Visibility), and linked the failure to the recall. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who confirmed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 28,000.

Unknown or Other
Filed Jun 18, 2024IA

The receiver hitch for trailering is experiencing abnormal metal fatigue and deformation. The motorhome was factory equipped with a receiver hitch that shows a rating of 12,000 lbs and a 1200 lb tongue weight. I have towed both an enclosed trailer with a max weight of less than 4000lbs and a Jeep Gladiator in the flat tow configuration. The Jeep weighs less than 5000 lbs. With both of these towed vehicles being less than 50% of the receivers' rated capacity, I believe there is a manufacturing defect with the supplied receiver hitch. I am certain that had this issue not been detected, continued use would very likely cause a breakaway of the towed vehicle, posing an extreme safety risk as a trailer or Jeep Gladiator breaking away from the motorhome could very likely cause an accident. The receiver hitch is available for inspection. I have reached out to the receiver's manufacturer, Curt Manufacturing and they offered absolutely zero assistance. I have also attempted to contact Entegra/Jayco, but have not received a response.

Reading this record

No unusual pattern of severe incidents in the complaint record.

Complaint counts track how many cars were sold and how long they have been on the road as much as they track quality. A common model from 2013 has had a decade to accumulate reports; a rare one from last year has not. The signal worth weighing is in the severity columns, in whether the same component keeps appearing, and in whether the manufacturer eventually opened a recall for it.

Recall repairs are free for as long as the recall stands. Check whether a specific car still has open work at NHTSA's VIN lookup.
